What a beautiful, traditional country pub. Great cozy atmosphere, phenomenal hosts, very friendly and welcoming. The fish I had was probably THE best pub fish & chips I've ever had. Lovely country gem, will be coming back and highly reccomend :-)

An absolute hidden gem in the Suffolk countryside. The service is warm, friendly and very welcoming and the food is amazing. A great place for a days walk with friends followed by a few drinks and excellent food

Having been to the Moon and Mushroom a few times in the past few years (and it was fantastic) I thought I'd pop in for a light bite. I went for the "Fishermans Basket" with a side of bread and butter, and a pint from a local brewery. £17.40(!!!) later I was presented with a plate with some fried fish on, and microwaved bread with cold butter. The lack of thought and presentation was a real shame, £8.95 for it to be thrown on a plate with no care? At least put it in a basket if that's what you're calling it! You can do better than this. Unfortunately, I won't be returning the pub I used to enjoy visiting. Only positive was the pint, which was lovely.

Being just down the road yet never visited, we thought we'd give it a go. The food was great, the atmosphere was also great and the staff was very helpful and full of joy. Buy there seemed not to be able to cope with the number of customers that were in that night, and this led to long waiting times, and one group did leave early. We would go back again and would recommend this pub, but we may think twice about eating if it was busy.

The Moon and Mushroom is a wonderful find. A smallish pub with an awesome buzz and great simple well cooked food. Having said that, I had Catalan Fish Stew last night, which I wouldn’t necessarily class as simple. It was excellent!

Terrible service - waited an hour and a half for a starter then left as we were so unhappy with eating at nearly 9! Also spoken to very rudely when I asked for some sort of compensation. Sad to say I won’t be returning there ever again! Such a shame as it was a nice place to be in the summer but a different chef has obviously changed things!

Well that was a memorable evening for all the wrong reasons.You don't expect to have a table booked for 7.30pm and still not to have had you starters at 8.40pm.Our order was not taken until half an hour after we sat down then fifteen minutes after that the waitress returned to inform us our main courses were sold out.Does the so called chef not keep a check when he is running low on items and inform the waitress.Obviously not.The couple on the next table hadn't been for a while and their food ordered before ours hadn't appeared either.They told us the standards had dropped since before Christmas and wouldn't be coming again.We paid for our drinks and left after deciding one and a half hours was too long to wait for food.What a waste of a beautiful pub let down by a chef who obviously can't cope and no apology from your manager.Wont be back.

This was our second time at the Moon and Mushroom. The first had been wonderful but this time not great. The table service was extremely poor, the menu changed three times whilst we sat at the table. We had also been sat in a room just off the bar, the smoke that kept filling the room from what I can only imagine was the kitchen, was horrendous. Several of us suffered with sore eyes and our clothes smelt once we were home. The food was nice, but the portions had got smaller! Extremely upset as we were there for a birthday.

Lovely breakfast, pleasant atmosphere and really good service. Food was well presented, plenty of it and cooked well. Really reasonable, would definitely go back.

The pub itself is very cute, with low ceilings and pretty lighting, and service was incredibly welcoming. Perfect for a cosy festive lunch.

We have just returned from lunch at The Moon and Mushroom, we were so looking forward to this as had a lovely lunch here in December.our whole family came with us a party of eleven. We sat in the back room which sadly is a little gloomy but hey ho we were a large group.Whilst sitting waiting to order we had three different menus given to us as several items had run out and were unavailable this being Ipm not even late in the day.The actual service was so slow one waitress was excellent but she could not cope with all the tables, the other very young waitress when we asked for tomato sauce for our grandchildren brought out two empty bottles, my son then went to the bar and asked for some more was given a full bottle but not even put in a dish , I certainly do not serve like this at home.The meals were pleasant but ruined by the amount of waiting time and slow service. This a lunch for my husband’s birthday we will certainly not be going back such a shame after a wonderful first experience.

We agreed our meals were at best hot/warm and cooling fast... but as we were only asked if all ok, well into the second half of the meal, there was no chance of doing other than comment. Untasty Mac n cheese and charged for a pint when i opted for a pint. I may have overstarred.

I went for lunch on Saturday,we had fish and chips and gammon eggs and chips.. The portion size was that of a child's menu,a small piece of fish and about 10 frozen chips, the gammon was very salty and couldn't be finished.The one member of staff locked rusted off her feet,if this is a fresh start for this establishment,it has not worked, also the ala carte menu is shocking,who wants blue cheese and sweet chilli sauce in their macaroni cheese, avoid!

Manager more interested in decorating a table than serving drinks. Once I was eventually served the party coming to the table arrived half an hour later. There were only 6 people in the pub when I arrived. She seemed to be under pressure?????

Went for a brunch with my daughter ,what a lovely Christmas decorated place , was served straight away by a nice lady , the food was quick and nice and hot , we looked at the menus for different times of the day, next time...

I can not thank the team for their hard work and making my birthday special. We were lucky enough to have private dinning area to ourselves, which was ideal for our party and for the Children, (As the little ones can be challenging) I would highly recommend, the service is brilliant, the pub is very cosy and food is 10/10. Lovely place, amazing food and great staff.

Went with cycle club, so they expected us, however other than a few stale scones & 2 bits of cake & a brownie, that was it! Even served the scone with no jam & a fork! (no cream either) Coffee was good tho. Sorry 🌙 & 🍄 but you really do need to up your game if you're going to succeed as a cafe as well as a pub.

Went last weekend, enjoyed a Sunday roast. Great portion size. Desserts were lovely. My sons girlfriend doesn't eat roast dinners so had a child's meal instead, she said it tasted lovely. Staff were friendly. Sat in the bar not the dining room, which was lovely...

This place really needs to sort itself out. Happy to amend my review if necessary. I went to the pub at 5:30pm on Sunday 1st Oct with my little girl only to be told that they had ran out of food and they stopped serving at 5:30pm. Okay, fair enough, it happens. I then went the following Sunday at 3pm with my family and parents, ordered drinks (upon ordering was told there is no roast beef left). We then went to order to then be told they had ran out of food altogether, the lady actually argued with us when we asked why she didn’t say when we got the drinks. As a local, I’m pretty disappointed. I see signs all over saying it’s under new management. I’m thinking that I don’t want to bike to the pub with my small children just in case they have ran out of food again. Why not just order more food? Running out at 3pm on a Sunday doesn’t give me much faith in the ‘new management’. How many chances do I give the place?

Just discovered that this place now does breakfast, brunch and lunch, as well as the usual evening meals. Brunch stops at 11.30 and lunch starts at 12.00. The place looks lovely; fairy lights everywhere and the most delightful staff. They are incredibly helpful and friendly....

A lovely little pub that I have not visited since the 1990's, when I used to go with my late father, on days off from work. It was good then, and we'd often have lunch there. I went today, (28/08/23), for lunch, as it was my 60th birthday. I had a very good pint of Cider, and an exceptionally good 'all day breakfast', made with really good locally sourced ingredients. The service was excellent, and non-intrusive, and the surroundings of the truly ancient building were as nice as I remember - a tad brighter, but not so as to be annoying. Portion sizes were great, and the meals had by my brother, his partner, and their son, looked top-notch. I love slightly out of the way places like this. Good food, brilliant service, and lovely surroundings. What more does anyone need? Nice one, and thanks for a lovely birthday lunch. 👌👌👌

Fabulous friendly atmosphere! It's one of the few places that my grandma feels entirely comfortable, we love our lunch dates and now we can come for breakfast. The food is delicious with so many options to choose from!

To begin; if you’re staying near this pub then give it a visit. It’s excellent. After a day of trudging around Ipswich and not seeing anything worth trying for an evening meal we remembered that we had seen a sign advertising the Moon and Mushroom on a main road so we called them and booked for opening time on Friday night. What a lovely little quaint place it is too. The front has seating amidst some lovely greenery which leads to the small front door and the old style ale house interior which I love. It also allowed our little Dachshund in too which was essential to our choice. We were greeted by the very friendly owners and seated immediately by the bar. They serve three local real ales (Earl Soham Brewery) of which the one I tried (Gold) was very nice. They also gave our pooch some treats and made a lovely fuss of him. We selected our food which was absolutely delicious all round. I had a special which was steak and frites with truffle and herb oil. I can very much recommend it as the steak was tender with a very tasty oil (not drowned) throughout. The fish and chips were also a really healthy portion and tasted great (I got a bit of it)! I love nothing better than a really pretty, traditional, comfortable pub that serves great ale, great food at a good price with friendly service in a quiet village setting. This pub ticks every box perfectly.

Went for a lunch time meal with my sisters and our dogs. Very pleasant atmosphere, warm and friendly and we were immediately given our menus. My meal needed to be gluten free which was no problem and I was given several choices. I chose the butternut curry with saffron rice which was very mild but fragrant and I thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. My sister's chose fish and chips and oversized fish fingers sandwich with chips both of which were more than ample portions and equally enjoyable. Only 2 of us had room for desert, I chose profiteroles with chocolate sauce and the other choice was sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. We all agreed we would return again soon to try the other options! A bonus was that there was plenty of room in the car park which is shared with the school as it was school holidays and there is a sweet little green area to take the dogs round either before or after the meal weather permitting plus a lovely seperate playground for any children in the party. All round it is a lovely venue and we'll worth a visit

Great portions but we both found the food to be a little bit flavourless, in particular my wife found her vegetarian curry was a bit bland. Portions are great and it's good value in a lovely setting but we would not rush back.

Great little pub. Cosy inside, nice places to sit outside. Lovely friendly landlady and bar/kitchen staff. Ideal for dinner and a couple of pints (especially if someone else is driving, or else it's just the one!) The starters appear to come in quite generously sized portions, so you can comfortably share one starter between two people.

Went today for Sunday lunch with the family. On arrival, although busy, we were seen to quickly and shown to our table. The staff were attentive and we were looked after incredibly well. The food was amazing…I had halloumi fries to start with a chipotle sauce which complimented them perfectly followed by the best roast beef I have had in a long while. It was tender and tasty. The dessert menu offered something for everyone including the most delightful lemon meringue pie! It was the perfect place to spend Easter Sunday for lunch and we could take our dog too which was a bonus. Will definitely be back.
