Hand in Hand in Suffolk Coastal

Had been in several times but not for a while, ordered our meals but where waiting 20 mins or more then told was out of steak so ordered a different meal which came up a tiny amount ( small ) child size) I’ve had this before ( chicken tikka) and was more than twice the size, and the nann bread was brittle, so what has happened here

We had the two-course evening set meal and everything was fabulous. Main courses were very tasty, good sized portions but the puddings were just the best—the sticky toffee pudding, salted caramel brownie, cherry and waffle sundae and strawberry and meringue cheesecake-they were all amazing!

It was an amazing experience at the hand in hand pub and an excellent meal me and my partner both ordered a skibidi sandwich and it was exceptional. Would go back and recommend the skibidi sandwich to everyone!!!

Regularly come here for food and can never fault the service or food. Bar staff are always lovely and welcoming, making this pub a lovely environment to be in. Highly recommended the steak sandwich!

Menu not to loads on so you spend half hour just digesting what the have. Just right. Because I have just had stem cell transplant I cannot be too close to strangers, I have been to this pub during the week with friends and stayed away from the public side, it's been lovely a few tables booked other than ours, but spaced nicely so I don't have to keep my face mask on. Table service second to non, staff lovely and friendly, food comes out looking really nice. Taste lovely. If you have food requirements it's never too much for them to ask and accommodate. Love this pub. They have a snooker or pool table which don't seem to be in the way of the bar or food areas. There is a step at the bar, so if you have mobility issues that is the only possible issue you may have if refined to a chair or mobility scooter. Otherwise disability friendly, friendly and car park out back.

We booked a table for a birthday lunch for five adults. It was fairly busy but by no means full in the eating area. There was actually a really nice vegetarian sausage and mash meal on the menu,great to see as most Ve/V food is spiced. The restaurant was clean. Meals: The roast with a trio of meats,the beef was dry and there was no stuffing as advertised. The food was cold.when mustard was requested we were told there was none. The lasagne was burnt black around the edges and the portion small for the cost. The sausages and mash was ' okay ' but the advertised Yorkshire pudding was not on the plate either. A side of cauliflower cheese was not brought out until a good five minutes after the main course. A starter was ordered as a main and was served in a tiny little ceramic dish with no garnish and was covered in garlic breadcrumbs which was not stated in the menu. We waited 45 minutes for the food. As it was a birthday lunch for a very shy individual we just paid and left without complaining as it truly would have upset them.A lot. So,my apologies to the owner for not giving them a chance to put it right at the time. We used to go to this pub and the food had always been great so we were all quietly disappointed. Sadly there is no incentive to return.

Terrible food, burnt black burger buns, should never have been served. Horrible sauces. Small portions. Not worth the money. And the toilets were disgusting so dirty looked like they just mop in the middle the edges of the floor were thick black dirt, dirty tissues on floor near wash basin. If I'd have used the toilet first I wouldn't have eaten here.

Great lunch today with friends. Excellent food and friendly service. Good value for money and nice atmosphere. Nice outside seating area.

Excellent food and friendly pub

A great place to stop off for a pintyfull rest on a hike. We had a pint of lovely cask ale each but they do halves as well. London Pride and Doom Barr. They do good live music nights also- usually Friday & Saturdays.

Just back from having an amazing roast dinner, up there for me as one of the best as cannot fault it, excellent value for money and a huge plateful, will definitely be back!

Small portions, gravy wouldn't pour out of the jug, lasagne black on the bottom where it had stuck to the skillet. Chips good and staff were lovely

Came back again for a Christmas meal only to be left feeling rotten and ill. The food, I believe was re-heated and the meat was undercooked. The turkey was pink in the middle and the vegetables were just slimy offerings. It was definetly not worth paying just under £200. We have decided to not return for the foreseeable. The atmosphere was nice however with it being Christmas but I fear because they were more concerned about their Christmas Day guests the next day we just got whatever was left. One member of staff was very blunt and but the one and only wait staff was kind and patient. Luckily the childrens food was fresh and they weren't unwell. But sadly it ruined our Christmas because we were all sick.

Bangers and mash would indicate the sausage and mash are the main components of the meal. However, just a spoonful of mash and a random yorkshire pudding to fill the plate !?! Steak and Ale pie, the photo says it all, sparse and anaemic, £13.50,! Very disappointing presentation and portions. I have had good meals here in the past year, but the food has gone downhill.

Had the best festive meal here for 8 people. Food was amazing. Staff were very friendly and pub had a wonderful atmosphere. Very clean and table was decorated lovely including crackers. Excellent vegetarian options. Will definitely come back again.

Worst meal I have ever had, I ordered a ceaser salad it was in a small bowl soggy lettuce soaked in a sauce ot crunchy Romano as it should be, I paid extra for chicken and bits were so small it was unrecognisable. Boiled egg really runny, mess all around edge of bowl size of a tea plate I couldn't eat it. My husband's meal scampi dried out peas and oven chips. Seen better school dinner. So disappointed. If pubs can't cook then don't do food. It's that simple. Do what you're good at, Guinness was just right.

Had a Sunday dinner it was absolutely disgusting roast beef, you couldn’t even get your knife in, vegetables, okay roast potatoes and parsnips were deep fat fried, wouldn’t go again waste of money very disappointed

We took my husbands mother for Sunday dinner yesterday 20/8/2023. OMG, it was amazing and reasonable priced. We had duo's which meant we could pick two meats, the chicken, beef and pork were perfect, for £2.00 extra. Yes, we had to pay extra for cauliflower cheese and "pigs in blankets" but no complaints. Horseradish and cranberry sauce in abundance. The only reason I have put 4/5 is because my salt and pepper pots were covered in old gravy and so I had gravy over my hands. 🤨 Well done, died impressed. Amanda. Stowmarket

Good old fashioned local pub, friendly, sizeable, down to earth.

Went for Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly and service was good and the price was reasonable. I ordered the Sunday roast. You get huge portions here, which is both a plus and a negative. The lunch had everything on it, roast meats, mash, roasties, carrots, Yorkshire pud, beans, cabbage, stuffing, the lot. A huge plateful. The downside was all the meat was, for my taste, over cooked. Personally I like my beef rare, thinly sliced and pink. This is of course a personal opinion. From a business point of view I was so full I couldn’t order a pudding, which cost them money. So in summary if you are very hungry, like your meat well done, great value and friendly staff I would totally recommend going here. For me, I would just dial down the portion sizes, take a little more care over cooking the meats and you would sell more puddings. Less is more and all that.

Lovely local pub but needs updating

We had never visited this pub before and were greeted with a warm welcome. Our drinks were brought to the table and the excellent service continued throughout our stay. The food was excellent with generous portions and quite reasonable prices. All in all a great experience thanks to the attentiveness of the lady in charge and we hope to return soon.

Food was great, service was also great and an ale called neck oil was very nice.

Absolutely gorgeous meal!! The kids meals perfect decent size and very tasty, the 3 adult meals were above expectations, could not fault anything! Perfect 5*** well done chef!

After a long day shopping and travelling we decided to pop in to the Hand in Hand for a meal to save us from cooking. My son and I had the slow cooked pulled BBQ beef burger and my wife had the beer battered fish. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was served in good time. All meals were piping hot, very well presented and were very enjoyable and tasty! After this very positive experience we shall definitely be eating at the Hand in Hand again and look forward to trying out some of the other choices that the menu has to offer. I absolutely love visiting the hand in hand in Trimley. I’m always made to feel welcome. My friends and I regularly come in to see bands, join in with the monthly quiz or just to play games. The regulars are always friendly and happy to chat and the staff are very accommodating. They are also very dog friendly and my dog loves getting his treats and fuss from everyone. Well done Nicky and crew- keep up the good work!

Went with a few friends and we were not disappointed. Lovely food and friendly waitress. Plenty of parking and located in the suburbs of Felixstowe. (IP11 ORL) Will certainly go there again.

Popped in here for lunch on the way home from a day out at the coast. I had a mozzarella and tomato melt with chips and partner had a beef burger and chips. Both meals were lovely. Will definitely be returning. Good value for money too.

The pub quiz was fun for all with some easier and some brain teasing questions. They were really accommodating of my needs as a diabetic and gave me sweet potato fries instead of the complimentary chips that came with the affordable quiz price of £2.

We were looking for somewhere local to avoid patronising a big chain in Ipswich and decided to try the Hand in Hand in Trimley We did book (at the last minute) but they had plenty of free tables anyway Unfortunately it looked like only ONE member of staff was doing "front of house" and she had to look after taking orders, delivering food and dealing with bills. She was being run ragged, which was why the service was a little slower than we expected The menu was one of the best we've seen for this kind of establishment, and we both changed our minds at least twice before settling on our choices The food was good, but might have tasted even better without the wait. There's always that nagging feeling that you've been forgotten. Maybe if they'd mentioned they were short handed we would have been less concerned

My local ..and I always pop in with my partner after a long walk for a odd glass of wine and a London pride ..dogs are welcome and they may even get a treat ..

I can't agree more with the previous comment, we too had a very poor experience. Table booked for 4:00pm, arrived early and ordered our food at 3:50pm. After both the starters we asked for were out of stock, not too much of a problem, so...

Today me and my family had a terrible experience at hand in hand, after waiting 40 minutes for our starters I had to send mine back as it was cold. Then after waiting another half an hour our food to turn up had to send three dishes back as they were stone cold and had a number of items missing from them. The service was unbelievably slow and the food was unacceptable!

Pub grub you'd expect to find. Scampi, pie, fish and chips, steak etc. I'm sure chef Mike had a hand in the cooking of my pie and the mash was like packet mash but good size portions and friendly service.
