First time back in here since new management. It's safe to say The White Horse is back!! Fully stocked bar, good choice of beers, very welcoming host. It has only been back open a month, so they have started with a small menu to get started and it did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious food and served promptly. They have just taken on a second chef and are aiming to expand their menu shortly. Will definitely be back! Oh and their Christmas Dinner Menu looks delicious and very reasonabley priced.

Smart new decor, swanky cutlery, lovely staff but meal was tiny and average but nicely presented. Bigger and average would’ve been better. Strange cross as not pub grub but not restaurant standard either.

What a dump! Scruffy, unprofessional and dowdy. Menus are printed on a yellow paper which makes them look dirty. Asked about sandwiches and told yes you can have any sandwich you want, but not on the menu. We didn’t eat in the end because of how grubby the place and and bar people looked. Everything was with chips and peas!

The place needs either closing down or someone that can run the place properly, Went in last weekend with the grandkids, the place smelt damp and unwelcoming, went to order some drinks only to be told no draft lager was available as the cellar was not up to temperature, I assume she meant down to temperature , but was offered coors lager so can’t see why that was available as surely they both come from the same cellar 🤷♂️, made do with a bottle from the fridge, well that was warm as it was outside, no ice available, lipstick on my wife’s glass, dog sh.t in the beer garden which my granddaughter fell in , so to sum it up the place is so run it’s an embarrassment.

We arrived at the pub/restaurant and ordered some drinks, the woman behind the bar serving didn’t know which pump was bitter, after asking a customer she delivered 2 pints of beer, I asked if we got chocolate flakes with it., to go in the foam top. The place its self was a bit grubby and the decor has not changed in years. The second round a different woman serviced no better in fact worse, if the place was busy you have to make some allowances but only 6 customers and our party was 4 of them. The only advice I would give is pack up and become a government artist draw dole, or find someone who is willing to spend time showing you how to run a bar. Ordered chips as a guide on the food as heard it was bad and they arrived uncooked so got our answer on that. Having your name over the door does not mean you can operate a pub. What a joke harsh be true

A Sunday Roast is a very special meal, a treat even. Following a post on Facebook by The White Horse, Church Road, Felixstowe IP11 9NF, the two of us decided to try them out. We booked a table over the phone for 1pm. We arrived and were shown to our table. There didn't seem to be many in the restaurant area but it turned out there was a large family group in the beer garden behind the pub. There was a choice of Beef or Turkey. We ordered the beef. It did take a while to arrive but was worth the wait. A good amount of perfectly cooked beef, sliced thickly enough, with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, string beans, carrots and cauliflower cheese. Neither of us had the yorkshire pud by choice. It was delicious and well worth the £12.95p it cost. Thanks to the team at The White Horse and please keep us the good work.

The bought-in dessert today has made me feel very poorly. They knew I am allergic to gluten and dairy, and made sure the main course was OK (ham egg and chips the only option really, but it was tasty). However with the dessert I asked them to check it was also free of oats. After some time, they confirmed it was. But it turns out oats were one of the main ingredients. Now feeling ill. There are many other restaurants in Felixstowe which understand food allergies correctly.

First time visiting since reopening. We booked a table for 4 for a family meal. We arrived and no one was at the bar. We waited for what seemed like an eternity to be greeted by a lady who couldn't find our booking and it turned out it had been written into the wrong day. Not to worry, we ordered some drinks and found a table. After a while we realised we would have to go to the bar to order our food so after a quick game of hide and seek to find some menus we had a browse through and decided nothing really stood out and we would probably be waiting a long time for food due to the obvious lack of staffing. We decided to leave and go somewhere else, best decision we made that evening.

Terrible Christmas day lunch. Complete contrast to last year, which was excellent. A complete waste of £110 for our two meals. The obvious staff shortage was understandable during the current crisis and we're grateful for those that were there. However, we waited over an hour for our main course after finishing starter, 3/4 hour for dessert. The quality of the food was abysmal. Toast not toasted, cold turkey, indifferent vegetables. Poor, barely roasted potatoes. The bacon on the pigs in blankets was practically raw. The Christmas pud was cheap and unpleasant; cheesecake with a thick biscuit base and tasteless. I asked to speak to the manager afterwards to no avail, subsequent telephone calls to the pub to discuss my complaints with the management have not been responded to. We're very upset and disappointed.

Glad people seem to have managed to get served here. I went a few weeks ago but was totally ignored by the servers: after half an hour we left as we wanted a drink. It’s all very well having a sign welcoming people back but if they’re going to ignore you, forget it. Plenty of punters came in after me & got served. I’ve lived near the pub since 1988 and very rarely has it been run well. Nothing seems to have improved. I won’t try it again unless there’s a change in management. However, I understand there’s a move to build a shop instead. It would be a shame to lose a pub, especially as I’m a CAMRA member, but honestly, how can you run a pub desperate for business so badly? If the pub’s in jeopardy, perhaps the locals could buy it as a Community pub? That could work.

When we told the staff that although the food was lovely, the service was slow, the response was “you were the unlucky table”. My Mum had ordered the beef Sunday roast - 3 slices on the plate all of which she couldn't put her knife through - tough and lots of sinew. Big lumps of carrot were also half raw. At £13.95 this was an expensive mistake. Too polite to complain she asked for a doggy bag and when questioned explained - all she got was an apology!!

We had the Sunday roast, it was very good the beef was cooked really well and tasted delicious. The Yorkshire pudding was homemade but was slightly over cooked and really crispy, which wasn't the best. The roast potatoes was more of just boiled potatoes so they weren't that great. The service was a little slow, but other than that it was really great and everything was cooked well. It was definitely worth the amount.

Wow what an absolute shame choosing to eat here. I mean I'll start from the beginning - firstly we waited half an hour after ordering our food to finally be brought out starters without the mains, even though we had clearly specified we wished the starters and the mains to be brought out together. Once the starters did come we were told 'sorry but the mains are now being plated up,' which they obviously were not because we waiting almost another half an hour for them to come out... So an long hour wait for our meals. Which wouldn't normally have been a problem but we'd booked a fright night slot at Landguard Fort at 10:00pm and had arrived at the pub at 8:00pm and the food wasn't served to us till 9:05pm! Anyway, once the food did come, it was the most miserable plates of food we'd ever seen. I had the chicken chassure which consisted of two small pieces of chicken on what was basically a huge plate of cold lumpy mashed potatoe with a small amount of luke warm sauce floating round the bottom. I took one look at it and immediately thought this looks terrible. But looks can be deceiving and because we we're all both worried about being late and we we're hungry I attempted to eat it... I couldn't. It was grim. It tasted exactly how it looked. Cold and lumpy and I wasn't happy paying £12.00 something for just a huge plate of mashed potato. I wanna just clear something up. I've never, ever sent food back in my life. I'm a greedy person and I looove food. So this was a first for me and I eat out fairly often and I'm not fussy with food either. So it had to be bad. I sent it back and apologised to the lady serving (obviously wasn't her fault) I couldn't justify paying the money. My partners meal was pathetic (I should have taken photos) he ordered the veggie sizzler, it consisted of a few sliced of pepper in bbq sauce, two wraps and I guess some cottage cheese? There wasn't even enough to feed a child. Also they got the order wrong. He asked for chips and they gave him rice, although they again apologised and brought out chips instead which was good because all 6 foot 4 of him would have been very hungry indeed. My two friends ordered pies which again were cold with no meat in them (they were meat pies) and the mash was cold and lumpy. We asked to see the manager because we we're not happy as you might have guessed but when the manager/chef came out to ask what was wrong; she didn't really try to apologise but instead kept trying to justify herself saying that the meals were fine but then did admit the mash was not good. She also said that she gave my dinner to her staff who said they didn't see a problem with. Firstly that is an incredibly unprofessional statement to make. Secondly you must take responsibility for your mistakes and do not try and justify yourself. Just apologise and ask if there's anything you can do to rectify the problem. I mean where has customer service gone these days!? Anyhow we all complained and she basically didn't like that we hadn't enjoyed her cooking - I mean it could have at least come out warm. She did take my meal off the bill and knocked £2.00 off the meatless pies each. She then said that she hoped this experience won't put us off coming back which it has obviously because nobody wants cold, rubbish food served to them, and when complaining be told your wrong. We finally got out at 9:45 and still ended up paying £75.00 over all for an awful experience... Cheers White Horse.

LEAVE A RESPONSE OR 'LIKE' THANK YOU All the right beers are on tap like Guinness, Hobgoblin, Ghostship... Staff really helpful and pleasant to talk too... Nice customers who we spoke to... also very clean & tidy toilets... Expect to pay a little more for drinks, but it's worth every penny... My wife was even more happy with this place as I pointed out there was no pool table for me to disappear to for the next 3hrs or so, I on the other hand would have loved a game of pool but I suppose that type of thing sometimes attracts the wrong type of custom... Didn't have any food so can't comment on this aspect but I noticed they had about 4 or 5 dining tables that would take approx 4 to 6 per table. A very strong 4 out of 5 stars!! I do still feel that if I was eating I wouldn't be to happy with dogs being around, having just a drink I don't have a problem as long as there quite and well behaved!! HELPFUL? LEAVE A RESPONSE OR 'LIKE' THANK YOU

Proper tasty home cooked food. Eaten here 3 times during our weeks stay in the area. The downside is the road from Debenham to Cretingham - it’s very narrow but nowt Yorkshire folk can’t handle. Although my hubby was a bit disgruntled that you only served Roast Pork as a roast on a Sunday lunch and no Yorkshire Puds - he’s a Beef and Yorkshire Pud chap!! the food has been exceptionally tasty and the staff amazingly friendly. Highly recommend a visit

Came up last weekend for a family meal for my mums birthday, the menu was lovely and a good price. I would definitely recommend going, such a good atmosphere. The bartender ciara was lovely and helped with everything we needed and we really appreciated the help we got

Best fish and chip shop in Aldeburgh. Had freshly cooked scampi and a medium cod, both with chips. The cod was so tasty and cooked in a light batter. Chips good and not too greasy. Always good to buy from here and eat on the sea wall by the beach. Good value for money.

We went on a Wednesday lunchtime the pub was extremely busy but the service levels were very good and the staff were friendly and engaging. Our two dogs were made very welcome. The food was well prepared and presented. 3 of us had the fish and chips which was excellent and the vegetarian curry was also very good. If you have dogs this is a great place to stop after a walk along the river. Highly recommended.

Good place to enjoy a pint in a traditional English pub near the sea. Good food.
