Just back home after a truly exceptional Sunday lunch at the Peacock. Beef cooked to perfection and melt-in-the-mouth tender. Roast chicken was also delicious according to the wife. Portions were generous and good value. We both had the asparagus and jersey royal starter which was the perfect introduction to the feast to follow. Service was excellent as usual at this gem of a pub.

BEST Sunday lunch I’ve had! I’m visiting and have been looking forward to a proper English Sunday lunch - the last place we tried had a five star rating and everyone raved. It was marginal at best. You do it properly and perfectly! Everything was absolutely perfect from the service/wait staff all through dessert. The roast was delicious and so tender, smashed potatoes were perfectly creamy, the Yorkshire pudding, gravy, sprouts all of it was so very good! I fly out in a few days and am so happy I got my English lunch.

We had the most Fantastic Mothers Day Lunch from the minute we walked through the door we were taken care of, the specially designed menu for Mother’s Day had something for everyone. The crispy Poached egg were exquisite. I had roast turkey it was one of the best meals I have had tender meat, lots of vegetables- a huge Yorkshire pudding and the gravy was delicious. The men chose steaks - cooked to perfection with duphanisse potatoes which my son just wanted more and more. Onto desserts Well they did not disappoint - I chose lemon mousse with raspberry coulis and ginger and pistachio shortbread biscuits served in a cocktail glass - All homemade Simply Delicious, our table also had crumble, mojito cheesecake and a roulade.. we can’t wait to go back it was Superb Thankyou to you all for a magnificent Mothers Day Lunch book us In for next year please!!!

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who works at the Railway tavern, Me, My grandad, Step mum, Dad and brother always go and never does it every disappoint! The workers there were quick to react to us coming in and within 20 - 30 minutes we’d been served. It was amazing. Us 5 have been several times on many occasions as its local and it never ever disappoints. I went there for my birthday last year with My mum and dad and family and i was sooo happy. Thank you for your lovely service, well worth the visit 👏🏻

Visited the Beeston Brewery on third Easter open day …. An opportunity to grab a few bottles for home consumption . Then on to the nearby pub. Well worth a visit with 3 Beeston ales on hand pump and one live ale on keg. The pub is an hour drive for me but similar to one of the beers on offer.. Beeston worth the Wait, it’s proven to be a well worth the drive over! The community pub is a great place to visit, very stylish inside and the outdoor south facing patio is spacious and a great spot to enjoy a beer. Next visit I will make sure I sample the varied and well priced dining experience. Top pub nestled in the Norfolk countryside !

Sunday Lunch for 5 as a last minute idea, we decided to go local. Despite living less than 10 miles from Great Hockham, I had never been to the village and a charming place it turned out to be. The food was traditional pub grub and the portions huge. Service was great and friendly and the meals fantastic. Unfortunately due to a upcoming holiday to Portugal we were all not drinking bar one of our number but we will make up for that at our next visit as there was a good choice of ale, which the locals seemed happy with! Well worth a look!

We've driven past this place so many times but not visited until a recent Saturday evening. The buildings and rooms are well maintained and nicely decorated and, as has been said previously, the place is immaculate. We often pass comment on a pub when we see how the gardens/outdoor spaces are maintained and we would say that this is one of the best that we have seen ...other pubs should take not on how it should be done. It looks like a great place to visit and sit outside in summer. The overall impression is a casual pub with a relaxed atmosphere. The evening we visited it wasn't overly busy but I think that people are missing out on a well run pub. There is an attractive bar and plenty of seating if you want just to have a drink or if you are stopping for a meal. We wanted just a simple, medium price meal and were very pleased with what we got - we had viewed the menu online from home. We shared a starter and then had one pizza (very nice) and one burger (the very tasty burger patty and chips were way better than average) - both were excellent and the portions were ample. We both managed to squeeze in a desert too. All of the food (that should have been hot) was piping hot. For drinks, the Merlot was one of the better examples I have had in a pub for a long time. We thought that we got good value for money which is a tricky thing to find these days. We had a nice welcome and the bar/waiting team were friendly and efficient. We'll definitely visit again. Thanks.

A family of 4, we arrived without booking, on a sunny weekend lunchtime. It was clear the place was very busy, but we were greeted by the assistant manageress Nicola, who despite being busy, was charming and helpful - finding a table to which she showed us. We waited quite a while and eventually I went to the bar to ask for some service. The waitress who turned up was the opposite of Nicola; treating us as though we were an inconvenience and she had 'drawn the short straw' in having to take our order. This wasn't just my opinion, and was commented upon by my daughter & wife. She really is in the wrong job...... Even allowing for how busy it was, over half an hour later I needed to chase our meals because we had an appointment that afternoon. The waitress had ignored us since taking our order and I went to seek out Nicola. Again, she was friendly & helpful, coming back with an E.T.A. of 3 minutes. And she was spot on. The food was superb. We all thought how excellent is was. I just wish we had time for dessert, but due to the delay that was a pleasure we had to forego. So, if you are a 'foodie' this really is the place for you. If you place service high on your list, you will be taking 'pot luck' as to who you get and may be very disappointed. Such a shame for such a lovely establishment.
