First time visit and allowed us to run a tab, great selection of Whiskeys (tried most of them) superb Burgers at reasonable prices. Staff were friendly, efficient and attentive. Despite the 0-0 draw had an excellent night, even the other patrons were friendly and chatty. Will be back. Thank you

Great place for a real ale. Pity Wi-Fi is not up to scratch. Despite this it is a great place to be.

Myself and partner visited last night. The service was really good and even though menu limited, it made sense to be. The food quality and size was impeccable. Well worth the visit made so welcome.

Went for Sunday lunch for our wedding anniversary. First time we had been. Will definitely be going back again. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I had salt and pepper calamari for starters and then for main roast lamb. This came with lots of seasonal veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and stuffing, plus side of cauliflower cheese to share. Hubby had the roast beef. We then had crunchie cheesecake to finish. We throughly enjoyed all our dishes. Will go again when the full menu is on as heard lots of good things about the menu

Visited this Pub / restaurant without booking, No problem for 6.00pm on a Saturday. We both had Fish and Chips, 1 large and 1 smaller. Excellent fish portions, way too many chips. Only complaint was not a lot of choice on real ales. Otherwise excellent, with attentive staff.

This was our first proper visit after lockdown, although we regularly had some amazing take ways during this horrible time….. Service was polite, efficient and friendly… the food is proper pub food, well cooked nicely presented and fantastic portion sizes, It’s also good value for money,…

We visit here on a regular basis for drinks and have recently been having roast dinners on a Sunday as we saw how tasty they looked one week. Beautifully cooked meat, fresh veg cooked perfectly, homemade Yorkshire’s and tasty crispy roast potatoes, lovely and attentive staff. Highly recommend to give a go.

Great food and brilliant service from a lovely young man with a smile and was friendly. Will be back ten out of ten keep up the good work.

The positives - Fresh guiness and reasonably priced. Negatives - Not covid secure. They were more than happy for us to stand and order at bar (against government guidelines) but as soon as we innocently did not follow one way system a rude bar manager moaned. I don't mind being told off but she turned a blind eye to all the locals drinking in groups of 6+

Took 95 year old mother in law for birthday meal. Attractive decor, food lovely, option of small portions very welcome. Service was fast and efficient. Would definitely go again.

This is my local ‘go to’ pub with a good choice of real ales and great pub food. The quality of the beer is great - always crystal clear. There’s a good range of very reasonably priced food on the menu and portion sizes are very generous too. The staff are friendly and service is good. You can get a great full English breakfast on a Saturday morning too. Good beer and food at reasonable prices, and friendly staff offering great service - what more could you ask for from a local pub!

I regularly eat at the railway and would highly recommend it if you are looking for good value pub food. There is a good choice of food and the staff are always friendly and efficient. The service is good and food cooked quickly. The burgers are the best we have ever eaten !

We have just had lunch at the Railway. Excellent food, excellent service. Everybody is so friendly. Everything was cooked to perfection. To me this is the best place to go to in Norwich. Excellent value for money.

We have been to the Railway Tavern many times, the staff are always pleasant and very friendly. The food is excellent, booking a table is always best as it is a very popular venue that gets fully booked.

Excellent Sunday Lunch, Chicken and lamb, good quality and portions.Good friendly staff. Restaurant clean and tidy.

Attended before 6pm, went for the early meal of cid & chips, asked me what my daughter would like I said the same pointing to the menu deal, the lady said the large one for her, I replied she likes her food yes please.Food arrived prompt, chips very soggy and oily, fish nice but again oily.We were asked on 2 occasions would you like anything else, not is the food ok ?At the end if the meal, with all chips left on plates we advised our waitress.The waitress said what can I do to put this right, my hubby replied free dessert.Waitress took plates away, was clearly checking if the manger would authorise our request.We were told no, but next time ask for the frozen chips.We promptly asked for the bill.My hubby was fuming, the bill arrived and we were over charged on the cod & chip deal, hubby went to question this at the bar .Hubby said he shouldn’t be over charged, the manger was rude and said if you don’t pay I will call the police.Please avoid, rude staff the can’t Handel constructive criticism.

1st time visiting the pub got warm welcome when we walked in, both had roast lamb which was very good & good selection of veg & a good portion, both had a dessert which was also good & the young waitress were very nice & friendly, will definitely go back again

Such a shame as this pub could be a regular for us but we won't be visiting again. The staff member behind the bar was rude and unfriendly and we were made to feel like ordering our food was all a bit of a hassle. I think some people are in the wrong job! There may be some staff there who are lovely but unfortunately others are ruining it for everyone.

Ate here on a Friday evening and the place was packed. So glad I’d booked a table ahead of time. Service was good. Food good also. I totally understood why it was busy. Can’t wait to return.

They catered for all 20 of us amazingly the food came out all the time so no one was left behind and portion sizes were very impressive, this was our first visit would recommend and will be going back.

La mayoría del asado estaba bien, pero si alguien no puede hacer una buena salsa sabrosa y espesa, arruina todo el asunto. Tuvimos que esperar a que la salsa saliera de cada bocado antes de comerlo o arriesgarnos a ponerlo todo en la barbilla. Alguien incluso tenía una chaqueta de punto nueva y tenía toda la salsa en el frente. También la ensalada tenía barro, no había sido lavada. También el queso de coliflor estaba seco.

Sin haberlo visitado antes, llamamos por casualidad después de una caminata local de 5 millas para comer algo y comí el domingo, mi amigo el pavo y siendo vegetariano tuve un asado de lentejas. Siendo el domingo de Pascua, estaba muy ocupado, pero nuestras comidas llegaron rápidamente y quedamos muy impresionados por la deliciosa comida y el personal educado y atento. Podemos recomendar encarecidamente este pub y definitivamente volveremos a probar las muchas otras delicias del menú,

Pub encantador personal encantador, comida excelente. Lo normal para un coliec es un plato medio vacío, no aquí lo que no se puede comer se sustituye por más de lo que se puede comer. Esto es muy apreciado. Sin duda volveremos. Bien hecho The Railway Tavern. Ah, y el precio para adaptarse a la mayoría de la gente.

Wife y yo hemos estado buscando un establecimiento local que sirva un buen asado los domingos por un tiempo, nuestro refugio habitual ha visto aumentos de precios y porciones más pequeñas de comida, ¡NO AQUÍ! la comida estaba bien caliente y se sirve en un plato caliente. (Nota del otro chef, por favor) con una selección de carne de res, cerdo, pollo, cordero o nuez asada, fui por el cordero, que era muy tierno y la esposa tenía el pollo, que dijo que también era muy tierna, además de una porción abundante de carne asada. Patatas, zanahorias, guisantes, col y coliflor con pud de Yorkshire, todo a un precio muy razonable, la calidad de la comida es inigualable y se sirve con prontitud y por un personal muy atento. Creo que tendremos que reservar la próxima vez, ya que estaba muy ocupado Y creo que tuvimos suerte de conseguir una mesa.

Impromptu meeting with two friends. Good, friendly and helpful service. Good food nicely presented and delicious - just what we needed. They pointed out their smaller size meals which cost just £4.50..

The quality and quantity of the food in the Railway is very, very hard to beat, such good value for money, all the meals are exceptional in the way they are cooked and presented. The value for money is second to none. The staff are excellent. Everytime you visit you are regarded as a friend, even if you just want a drink. I would award them 10/10 for everything.

Nos metimos en este pub cuando estuvimos cerca. Fue una visita de improviso, pero un hallazgo maravilloso. La comida es deliciosa y los especiales ofrecen comidas interesantes que intentaré replicar ahora que estamos de vuelta en casa. Comimos aquí cuatro veces en nuestra estancia de diez días y nos quedamos impresionados cada vez, tanto con el servicio amable y la calidad de la comida. Mi esposo también disfrutó probando cervezas diferentes. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo cuando regresemos a Norfolk.

Solo he ido a comer después de haber sido recomendado. Tenía las costillas de repuesto que estaban llenos de grasa blanca y las patatas fritas eran sosa. Si el motor de arranque hubiera sido el mismo, esto habría sido calificado como terrible. Mi marido tenía la hamburguesa especial que era muy normal para decir lo menos. Definitivamente no volvería. Decepcionante ya que las críticas han dicho que estaba bien. Tal vez elegimos el momento equivocado para visitar.

Personal amable y patrones. Excelente comida, los especiales son maravillosos. Si te gustan los trenes, también te encantará el lugar. Puedes comer y beber en el carruaje, la taquilla, el equipaje perdido y, por supuesto, la sala de espera. Los retretes no tienen espinas como en todas partes. Vale la pena una visita una y otra vez.

Es muy desalentador ir a un pub por tu cuenta en la semifinal de la Copa del Mundo.

Very busy pub for a Tuesday, my food was very tasty and out of the ordinary, it was Mediterranean stack with courgettes aubergine large tomatoes topped with mozzarella cheese, very good salad and sweet potato fries Dessert to die for strawberry Eaton mess

Cuatro de nosotros fuimos a comer ayer por la noche y nos sorprendió muchísimo la calidad y la cantidad de comida servida.

Visitar a la familia y reservar una mesa en el ferrocarril ya que Momm Law vive enfrente. Siempre ocupado y este lugar tiene un murmullo al respecto. Me encantan las nuevas decoraciones desde la última vez que lo visité. La barra trasera es excelente. El almuerzo como siempre fue excelente, postres para morirse. . . . y el personal amigable y feliz en su trabajo. Siempre es un gran lugar para reunirse con viejos amigos.

We moved to the area at the end of last year and this is our local. We visit regularly and the food is always first class. However on our last visit on a Saturday evening we had a very long wait. Admittedly we didn’t book as it was a last minute decision. There were a couple of large groups so was prepared for a bit of a wait but I think an hour and half is unacceptable. I think there would have been a long wait even if we had booked. Normally when the pub is busy they seem able to cope but for some reason they couldn’t this time. The food though was as good as ever and we can’t ever fault the quality or portions.

Mid week Birthday meal for my daughter. Bit of a let down. Food very average Probably wont eat there again.

This is our local pub & we popped in for a few drinks after having cabin fever from being in with all the snow.

Due to the snow we had to cancel a posh meal out with friends and because mum had been snowed in we decided to book a table to take her to her local pub for dinner.

This has long been the best fish and chip outlet in Dereham, and it is connected to a pub that serves real ale and shows sport on TV. This is the place to come.

Came to watch a band on a Saturday night with a friend.. Great atmosphere and loved the band. Made to feel genuinely very welcome by the landlady . Highly recommended

Visiting family who live close by and decided to have a Sunday lunch, booked a table as there was 7 of us. Great welcome, love the new menu. Sunday lunch was superb, and so good both Mums were able to have a small serving. This pub/restaurant is run superbly, staff well trained and was lovely and warm, which in its self is a great welcome. We will return when next back from abroad.

3 stars doesn’t quite do this review justice. The food I would happily give 4 stars to. We went for a Sunday Roast today and can’t fault the food. It was good size portions, tasted nice and well priced.

We had Sunday lunch here with my Father-in-law. We arrived just after 12 and ordered 2 small plates of Sunday Roast and a lasagna. The Lasagna was very good and came with a large fresh salad with a tasty dressing. My husband and his father said the small plates were plenty big enough. Desserts were only £4 so I had a bread and butter pudding and my father-in-law had apple crumble. Food came quickly, was very hot and tasted good. We were finished by 1pm.

Come about once every six weeks when in the area. Always go here for Sunday lunch and always come away very happy with a splendid roast dinner. Good plate full and excellent value for money. Normally an interesting guest ale on tap as well. Look forward to dropping in again in about six weeks time.

My daughter and my self came across this beautiful pub by chance, the staff are very welcoming, the food is all home cooked and amazing, the daily specials have alot of thought go into them. Friendly staff always take the time to talk to my daughter. Thank you railway.

It's a real pub, Not a gastropub, or a restaurant that sells beer. On the night we visited the pub bar was doing a roaring trade, but it didn't prevent them serving both of us with a first class pub meal that sadly left us with no room for some of the delicious looking desserts.. Wouldn't hesitate to visit again, particularly if they got in a decent quality draught lager that my wife would drink; the ales were spot on though.

Los chefs tarta Bob tuvo que era Steak & Ale en corto pastelería corteza. Llegó con un montón de verduras frescas y salsa. Absolutamente encantador y muy razonable. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo.

Qué fantástico pub local - amable y acogedor. Gran selección de cervezas y buena comida. La familia. No puedo recomendar este pub lo suficiente. Ah, y tienen bandas en vivo cada mes los sábados y domingos por la tarde temprano, gracias Tracey y Dave.

Un tiempo desde que hemos sido y era incluso mejor. Ambiente encantador lleno, comida estupenda, y definitivamente el mejor los precios de las bebidas en el pueblo!

A nice friendly pub with very reasonably priced food. We went for Sunday lunch in a party of 8. Good service and a decent meal very competitively price. The place is quite busy but service was excellent .

Was visiting family in Poringland and enjoyed this venue on three occasions. Firstly to meet friends for drinks. The Railway is so welcoming, wonderfully decorated for Christmas. Staff friendly, excellent at their jobs and happy in their jobs. The second visit was Sunday Lunch with our Mums. Staff very good with the Mums ensuring they were ok, with seats, were warm enough, drinks etc. Sunday lunch hard to beat. Meat very tasty and obviously first class cuts. And thirdly on Tuesday lunch before we flew back home with family, had the chili and rice, again very tasty. Have known this pub for many years but this is the best it has been. Beer kept very well, spotlessly clean and as I said very welcoming. Will be back next year.

Came with my Mother and Step Father. All enjoyed our meals. I had a lovely Vegetarian Burger with a good bunch of yummy chips! Staff were also friendly, lovely setting too!

I organise an annual reunion at my house for my old ex army chefs and the WAGS , we booked into the railway for dinner on the Friday evening after an eventful afternoon of drinking and catching up. The food was excellent and everyone in the party had positive things to say, from the size of the portions, to the favourable prices , the welcoming from the hosts Dave & Tracey was warm and friendly and the group thoroughly enjoyed there time here meeting with the locals and enjoying the superb ambience of a village pub. We will return next year , although I will be up for breakfast Saturday.Thank you for the welcome and hope we were not too rowdy !!

Eight of us arrived for Sunday Lunch. Wonderful warm welcome. We all ordered Sunday Lunch, all slightly different due to portion size chosen. But all meals first class. Four ordered dessert and I have to say the cheesecake was to die for. Excellent value and a wonderful young waitress served us. Such a smiley girl and checked on us a few times. Well done The Railway. Xx

Came for tea, absolutely lovely food. Service good, nice atmosphere and prices favourable compared to the local competition.

We went for lunch at the railway after completing a local walk. The food was good value, arrived on time and was well cooked. Nothing fancy, but then that's not what the menu or prices suggest. This is straightforward pub grub done well and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. The decor could perhaps do with an update, but that's a small point.

We arrived here late lunchtime having tried the pub down the road which although it looked like it served food it did n't. This place has a good car park, wheelchair access and very good toilets. These are not always the first of my concerns but on this occasion they certainly helped. There were 4 beers on. I chose the Wolf and it was in very good nick. The menu is simple but comprehensive. We were all pleased with what we got and at under £20 for the three of us was a reasonable price too. Another one to remember to go back to.
