The setting by the river is beautiful. I ordered the baked vegetable pie. It was crusty brown on top & tasted dried out, the new potatoes were also over crispy & dried out. The salad was fine.

A friendly pub with a great setting by the river. It has an extensive beer garden. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was reasonably priced and a decent quality. Plenty of parking space when we visited, but it probably gets full during the summer months.

Last night we went for a meal at the NEW Rushcutters. Underwhelming was perhaps the best word to use to describe the experience. Five people in the party two of which had birthdays and each member, without prompting, said they would not return. The Chefs Board tasted of grease and very little else. The Garden Medley as a main course looked more like a starter portion and whilst my partner's sisters Steak & Ale Pie was huge it was mostly gravy and pastry, she also said it tasted of Bisto and was convinced the accompanying potato was powdered. All the chips and onion rings were luke warm on the dishes. At no point did anyone check how our food was. Two hours later and all I could still taste was grease. We paid the bill and left. It's a shame..........

My first time back since the refurbishment. It was almost empty and we booked for 4pm. Was shown to our table and told it was full table service. We ordered drinks and then our food. When the food came we ordered more drinks. There was no sign of drinks 20 minutes later. The young waitress was saying she’s the only one who works around here and she’d see what she could do? Got fed up waiting so I went to the bar where there were 3 people not doing much? We eventually got our drinks but it ruined our visit. The food was nothing special either, not as good as it was in previous visits. Never again - it wasn’t even busy people just standing around talking - shocking

Nice location and decor but a disappointing experience. Definitely avoid the vegetarian wellington - it was almost inedible. No mushrooms just a brown sludge with pickled onions inside pastry. The cauliflower cheese was over boiled cauliflower with a very sparse amount of mozzarella on top. We weren’t ever asked how our meals were or whether we wanted more drinks. Great shame as it has a lot of potential

Recently refurbished, the Rushcutters is a great place to have a meal. It is dog friendly too, which is a bonus for those of us who have dogs. We went for Sunday lunch, we had the trio of meats, which was delicious. The meat was really tender and very tasty. A good choice of vegetables also came with the meal.

We came back for the first time in years and it has really turned around. The staff were all very good and polite. The food was very nice, I had the chicken burger & side of hallumi fries (which were the biggest iv ever seen in norwich) My partner had the mixed grill which was a good portion size. We then had the brownie sundae and the trio of deserts. All very nice 😊

Great little English pub which we had visited so many times in the past and we was very much looking forward to celebrating our 35th anniversary here again . Unfortunately this time my partner had the mixed grill which was barely warm ,actually the steak I tried was cold ! Unable to get the attention of the very busy staff meant him eating a cold dinner and no opportunity to be able to do anything because he would then be eating alone , not ideal for a romantic dinner together, my food was good but i felt frustrated for him . Food should be served hot ! Unless it's a sandwich.

Went for late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Restaurant was pretty quiet compared to how it usually is so we thought food might be a bit quicker coming to the table. We were waiting around 40-45 mins from ordering so we’re very hungry by the time it arrived. Although the food looked and tasted great, it wasnt hot. Some of the meals were warm whilst 2 of us had cold mixed grill and cold chicken burger. We had family visiting for lunch so didn’t make an issue out of it but was disappointing. Will we go again, maybe not.

Beautiful building and inside. Was looking for a homely family run pub, then realised this was a Greene King, the starter chicken strips were bland, and the steak pie tasted very artificial and like something you’d buy and put in the oven. The customer service wasn’t great, but food was most disappointing. It was Wetherspoons quality at best for double the price. This place is lovely for just drinks, but avoid the food.

If you are looking for somewhere nice to have a meal with friends, family or a couple, look no further than The Rushcutters where you will find a warm welcome. The menu is varied and very reasonably priced, and the decor makes for a very relaxed atmosphere. I’m winter you will find a warming log fire and in summer you would find nowhere better than sitting on the patio beside the river. Finally, The Rushcutters is also very welcoming to dogs; so for a meal or relaxing drink or coffee visit The Rushcutters - Rushbrooke family & Millie (the cockapoo)

Just returned from the Rush cutter following a very poor meal. My daughter had a chicken fillet in a burger which was wafer thin, and the sauce which was supposed to be with was missing, my so called Lamb shank shepherds pie was basically a shank pushed into a watery mash and then burnt, it arrived black. I did say to the server that I was surprised the chef put it on the pass, and even more surprised that the manager brought it to the table without any comment. They were both returned, as was not edible, they removed both from our bill, but meant I went home hungry, and it spoilt our visit. More effort should be taken to provide well cooked tasty food. Will not be rushing back, not for some time.

I’ve been coming to the Rushcutters since I was a kid and have always loved it (mainly for the riverside views in the summer). However since the new refurbishment it’s gone up a notch. I arrived on a frosty Friday morning, having been for a walk around Thorpe Marshes (there’s a fantastic offer at the moment where a walk using the AllTrails app gets you a free breakfast). Me and the hound were greeted by a lovely gentleman (may we’ll have been Ben) and shown to armchairs by the roaring fire. Dixie the dog was even given her own bed and was lavished with treats. She’s a nervous dog, but if there’s one way to her heart it’s sausages, which she loved! The coffee and breakfast were superb. The service was amazing and the pub was so cosy and welcoming. My new year’s resolution is to visit the Rushcutters much more often!

Well, what an unexpected treat this was! We booked online, but needed to phone in to double check which menu would be served, the young lady was incredibly kind and knowledgeable suggesting we tweak our time as we preferred a late breakfast to an early lunch. On arrival I was acknowledged at the bar, and guided to our table. The attention to detail on service was spot on, both Jack and Ben with their warm, cheery, nothing is a problem dispositions, ensured everything about our orders for 3 was exactly as expected. Piping hot, perfect poached egg, all breakfast items were delicious, two veggies and one meaty. This place is literally allergic to serving people food. Attempted a walk in on several occasions in the last few summers and always advised that they don't accept despite the vast majority of tables being empty. Booked a family meal and later called asking to add two additional seats to a table of five and was advised not possible without them even asking for details of our reservation. Upon arrival at the restaurant there were plenty of tables and seats free which remained so throughout the meal. Seems management just don't care and are happy to trade off their river location without much else to offer in the way of customer service. Replies to reviews always seem shocked at reports of bad service, but it has been this way for years.

Unfortunately the experience and the way that we were treated means that we will no longer come back to the Rushcutters. We ordered our mains, to which everything was great, our host came over and cleared our table and asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. To which we did. 20 minutes passed and no menus. It just so happend that we still had some items left from our mains that another member of the team (whom I must say clearly did want to be there due to her manner and body language) came over took the remaining items and asked if everything was ok and if we wanted anything else. To which I replied, we have been waiting for the last 20 minutes for your colleague to bring over the dessert menus. Oh I'll get you some then was the reply we got back. Guess what....... 20 minutes later still no dessert menus, to which when we asked her again (it was like a Kevin the teenager moment) oh I'll get you some. To which she did but the way that she presented them to us was just chucked on the table. To which I then asked if I could see the manager. About 10 minutes later the manager came over and said I hear you have a problem in a bit of a condescending matter. When I explained the situation (to which he clearly is in the wrong job and you could see he was trembling with nerves) . He said that we could have our desserts on the house. To I stated that it had gone passed that point and we no longer wanted a dessert. No real meaningful apology, he clearly wanted to get away from us quickly, he just said I'll get you the bill then. And walked off. Next the female host returned, you didn't want a free dessert so that will be £74.76, Cash or card. She took payment and went! At no point did anyone apologise for the experience that we had received. We have been coming to the Rushcutters on a regular basis for more years than I like to think but we we won't be back. When we were leaving one of the waiting staff that instantly recognised us stopped us for a chat, unaware of what had happened, did apologise when we told him what had happened. But we again said we are never coming back. I had to chuckle we we got out side as there was an A frame that said Ben and the team welcome you to the Rushcutters. Ben if that's how you welcome customers new or returning. You aren't going to have a business for very long!

Such a disappointment can't really see it's changed that much other than the menu being smaller just as well really as it was disappointing. I had the triple roast first one came out and was mostly cold roast potatoes tasted like they had been standing for ages and just reheated. I did highlight this to the waiter who without hesitation offered to get me a fresh replacement, the only difference this time was it was hot, not great quality or presentation, to be fair it was removed from the bill, my wife's burger was average at best. On a family occasion we went to the Rushcutters early on Sunday evening. The first thing I noticed was that although the table was laid nicely, the cutlery was very smeary and not very clean. These were changed at once. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a child's portion of roast pork. Unfortunately when it arrived it wasn't very warm, the roast potatoes were hard as if they had been kept warm all day, as was the meat. To be fair perhaps I should have ordered something that had to be cooked from fresh. No one else had any complaints about their food. Maybe I was just unlucky in that respect but there was no excuse for the state of the cutlery. The waiting staff were very pleasant.

My dad had the toad in the whole which was from the specials; it does lack veg, however he said it was great. For dessert, we had a sticky toffee pudding and a trio of dessert which we shared among us. They also made a board with a small bit of brownie that said Happy birthday on. I booked the Rushcutters for my Wife's 50th Birthday with our two young children and her parents. We had heard it had been refurbished and wanted to give it a try. Bit of a risk for a special birthday but so glad we did. I messaged to ask if they would mind me bringing in some balloons and a birthday cake, they had no issue whatsoever which was great. My inlaws arrived first with the cake and balloons so everything was ready for our arrival. The staff were very attentative and polite. The food was great. I had a mixed grill and it was cooked exactly how i wanted it with great flavours. Mixed grills are alway hit and miss, this was a hit. My eldest had the signature burger which he loved. My youngest had chicken strips and chips. He has alergies to Dairy and Soya. The resturant has an ipad it gives you and allows you to quickly and easily work out what meals work and which don't, there was lots of choice for him which is great as a lot of place don't consider people with alergies. When we had finished our meal we had the cake come out and the whole end of the pub we were in sung Happy Birthday much to my wife's embarresment. Special mention to gentleman who i liaised with who was not only attentative but also a great personality, paid attention to the kids as well as the adults. All in all a great experience. Pub was busy on a Wednesday night which is great to see. Thanks for a great night and we wish you all best for the future. We will be back.

Service much better than previously. However, not impressed with the menu. My partner had veggie toad in the hole. Just came with cabbage mash. No other veg. How cheap is a carrot?? I had a garden veg combo, which I wouldn't order again. Disappointed that there was nothing on the lines of a Thai or Indian curry, also a sharing platter with olives, sun-dried tomatoes, focaccia etc would be lovely. Didn't they have that previously? Drinks also very expensive, so we just had a couple of beers, and left earlier than planned to have a bottle of wine at home. Such a shame that they never seem to get all the elements right, as it is a lovely building, and could do so much better overall. Serving staff very attentive though, so thank you to them.

We were a group of 7. 3 adults and 4 children aged between 7 and 12 years old. The food was tasty - small complaint was that the chip portions with the burgers were quite small. The service was excellent. One of our meals took a lot longer to be served, and the staff dealt with the delay very professionally. Our server was very patient and attentive with the kids, too, which made the whole experience so lovely...it felt like nothing was too much effort. We visited as we are on a short break in the area. We would recommend it. We all had desserts, and 6 out of 7 had a drink other than tap water. The bill was just under £150. The icing on the cake is that you can use your Tesco Clubcard vouchers, which give you 2x the value.

A Delightful Sunday Experience Today, I enjoyed a delightful Sunday carvery accompanied by a refreshing glass of orange juice for lunch. The turkey was moist, and the roast potatoes and vegetables were cooked to perfection—all for a reasonable price of £15.64. My friend and I opted to have our lunch outside to soak in the lovely weather and the beautiful view. Although finding a parking spot can be a bit challenging, I was fortunate enough to secure a space right outside the premises. Overall, it was an enjoyable afternoon, made even better by the welcoming staff!

The fish was bony and the batter soggy would not recommend. And had to wait for it to be cooked .

Stopped here for a quick bite in the evening whilst passing through. Limited menu, I had pie and chips. It was hot and tasty so no complaints. I sat at a small corner table and when I went to put my bag on the floor my elbow got caught up in a whole nest of cobwebs that ran floor to ceiling. Moved to a different table and when I looked at the carpet it was glistening with slug slime! Yes you read that right!! Trails and trails of slug slime all over the carpet. I went to put my bag on the chair next to me. The chairs are covered with faded pink felt like fabric that would have been all the rage in the 70s but it was thick with long hairs all trapped in the fabric. The window sills were covered with dead flies. The bar man - am I allowed to say man in these politically correct times?? The bar person / server was however very friendly, welcoming and polite. Very depressing place, definitely needs a clean and makeover.
