Had another top Sunday roast here. Excellent service even though they were quite busy. Nothing too much trouble lovely food and drinks we shall return

Would not recommend this place for drinks as you will be ripped off, how this company is allowed to charge £2.65 per dash of post mix is beyond the joke, plus they have the cheek to pour the postmix first and then add the spirit after, and then to be told, you would of saved money if you brought a pint of postmix, and the manger told me me this, better staff training needed

We went for lunch today and found the restaurant to be very warm, comfortable and friendly, the waitress was very helpful and we weren't kept waiting for anything.

Lovely pub, so cosy and beautiful inside. Food is great, the lamb shank roast is my favourite! Staff are very friendly too.

Came to the red lion with the family for a mother's Day treat,and it certainly was that. The food was excellent we all had roasts and they were delicious, food and drink very reasonably priced, even though the pub was packed it didn't seem noisy or overcrowded and we were served promptly and politely. All the staff were very friendly and made it a great day, thanks to everyone at the red lion you do a great job 👍👍👍

This is a lovely family-run pub that has been established for many hundreds of years. We go once every couple of months or so whenever I am down from the North of England visiting family. If you are a new visitor, you are warmly welcomed. If you are a regular or returning visitor, you are treated like valued-family members. All ages are welcome and there is a large covered outdoor beer garden area to sit at on those warmer days. The service is excellent, with friendly staff who always on hand with nothing being too much for them to help with. The quality of the food is excellent with generous portions offered with a menu that caters for all ages and tastes. There is a great children's menu. Whenever we finish there, we look forward to the next occasion. The management are friendly and welcoming and add to the warmth of the pub. Parking is ample and free; ensure you register your car, on the screens provided indoors, on arrival so that you can spend time there without worrying about the clock. There are seasonal events such as quiz nights, theme nights and visiting entertainment throughout the year. If you intend staying near Drayton whether it be for business or pleasure, you can do far worse than visiting the Red Lion in Drayton, Norfolk.

Went for dinner with the family and it is great as usual. Fantastic drinks selection, very tasty food and impeccable service. I am never disappointed when I come here. See you soon Red Lion.

Sunday roast was mediocre at best. The pub now serves all roasts as a plated up meal which looked as if it had been plated up and kept warm for ages. The pigs in blankets looked like left overs and re heated as it was impossible to tell that bacon was on the sausage. Cauliflower cheese was a mush and tasteless. The turkey was like processed and sliced and didn’t taste good at all. Very disappoint compared to what they used to serve when it was a proper carvery.

What can I say have been here a few times over the last couple of months, and it's been great, having told family how good it was, we decided to all come in for mother's day. Really wished we hadn't, nothing wrong with the food but the service was awful. We sat down at 6pm by 7:40 just managed to clear mains plates away after we had finished eating around 7pm, some of us ordered dessert after my daughter had to go and find someone to take the order. All in all we didn't leave to nearly 8:15 never even got an apology. Over 2hrs for 9 mains and 4 desserts is shocking. Will be very reluctant to return again.

Recently rediscovered this place and we are now frequently returning. Good choice of food and drink, polite and friendly service and decent value for money. The inside is warm and welcoming, with a traditional feel to it.

The food fine, fairly tasty and a wide range. I don’t know what happened out the back but the staff were less than accommodating. The waitress arrived “Drinks?” Said with a confronting tone. No matter how polite we were they just seemed miserable and verging on rude. Everything we ordered (which would increase the bill!) seemed a hassle. It would put us off returning.

We hadn't visited The Red Lion for a long time and decided to go for lunch on my dad's birthday. We ate in the restaurant and the entire experience was faultless, including the welcome we received, the efficient service, and the reasonably priced, delicious food and drinks. Two young waiters served us and they couldn't have been more professional, polite and friendly. We will most certainly be back!

Disappointed my booking was not found after calling to pre book previously. Luckily they were not overly busy so we were given a table quickly. Waitress friendly and attentive drink and food order promptly taken. My order was not as requested no cheese as never have eaten it. Plate was taken back to kitchen and food delivered quickly as per my order. Both me and my daughters enjoyed our meals desserts ordered and enjoyed. Bill was very reasonable as we are members of the loyalty scheme. All in all a pleasant lunch date for daughter's birthday.

I went with the Family for Sunday lunch, we all agreed that it was nice. Atmosphere, good friendly service,and above all excellent food, and we will certainly be coming back there

We were made to feel welcome right from the start. One of our party is in a wheelchair and was accommodated with no hesitation. The food was delicious and Crystal who served us was not only professional but personable and super friendly. In fact, all staff were brilliant. Would definitely recommend to all.

Called in for breakfast, really good and excellent service. We stopped going here a few years ago after a few bad experiences, but the recent refurb is very good and the quality of food and service have really gone up.

Loved visiting this pub. Usually go to the pubs in and around Cromer and Sheringham, where I'm from, but visited the Red Lion in Drayton and was blown away by the service. It was like being at the rooftop gardens quality-wise, but with friendlier people. The barman was a good laugh, and we spoke about Norwich City and who the next head coach should be. He didn't agree with me that it should be Pardew or Curbishley, but loved chatting to him! Top bloke. Stu I think his name was. And a shout out to the rest of the team too. Absolutely superb.

We decided to go out for Sunday lunch, so we thought we’d try the red lion as we live locally. I had the roast beef and my wife went for the vegetarian option. It took a while to get served but once we did the food arrived relatively quickly. Food was very average especially for £14.50. 2 small slices of beef and small amounts of vegetables and potatoes. Cauliflower cheese didn’t actually have any cheese and two very small pieces of cauliflower. My wife’s meal was the same, nothing special and the butternut squash pie had spent a few minutes too long in the microwave as it burnt her mouth. Overall very disappointing and would definitely go there again for a roast dinner. Staff very friendly.

We have visited the Red Lion on a number of occasions and the food, service and ambiance have always been outstanding, so when deciding on a location to take our friends for a nice evening meal the decision was easy. For our friends it was their 1st visit and they were very impressed. Being a Saturday evening the place was really busy with many people enjoying a sociable drink. We made our way to the restaurant area where we were immediately shown to our table by one of the extremely friendly and helpful staff. We were asked for our drinks order as we were given the menus to browse. I have to say that the array of top notch ales and lagers on offer made the decision that bit harder. There was a really good selection and variety of dishes both on the Main Menu and the Specials Board. I opted for the beef and ale pie which was delicious while Hunters Chicken was the choice of my companions. Following my excellent main course I sampled the sticky toffee pudding which was exceptional. You can usually tell a good venue by the number of customers and there wasn't an empty table. Despite the large number of diners the staff were excellent and we enjoyed an unhurried meal with just the right amount of service from our friendly servers. The Red Lion has now become my go to for an evening meal

We've visited before a couple of times on weeknights & always enjoyed our food. We booked for Sunday lunch today & sadly the food was seriously lacking. Our roast potatoes had clearly been deep fried, my son had a couple so crispy that there was no actual potato in there! The veg & gravy was fine, the turkey ok but the roast beef was just odd. 2 uniform slices of thin, slightly fatty beef, almost like bacon rashers & devoid of flavour. The staff were lovely & rushed off their feet, but I honestly think we'll stick to our usual choices in future, our roast dinners were just a let down. Please avoid, unless you like deep fried spuds, Norfolk has multiple better options where the food is cooked from scratch

Red Lion is located at 2 Fakenham Rd, Drayton, Norwich NR8 6PW. Pub style restaurant offers two mains meal at around £16 for two person, food is delicious and more than adequate. Both indoor and outdoor seating area are spacious, suitable for organizing function and parties. Free parking for guests, many parking spaces. Highly recommended.

We popped into the red lion , Drayton with friends and our children. We were greeted by Paul, who looked after us for the evening. The food was good, simple but good pub food. There were only a handful in the restaurant; so it was a bit quiet, perhaps some music would have been nice. Overall, the service we received from paul was great; and the food was great for the price. Give them a try!

My favourite local pub which I find myself in at least twice a week. Lovely outdoor area on the grass in the summer and the heated patio in the winter. Perfect pub to socialise with a great selection of pints on tap and a good selection of quality food. They also offer a student discount which is perfect for me and my friends as prices are very competitive. Can’t really fault the place at all and the staff are lovely.

Previously had lovely meals. Yesterday we opted for a Beef Roast. The Beef was lovely. However the Roast potatoes looked like frozen roasties, had a very small amount of cauliflower cheese & a very hard & dry stuffing ball. Don't know if the drink lines had just been cleaned as Coke tasted a bit off but assumed it was just due to not being used to lemon in a drink. Immediately after finishing the coke I felt extremely bloated & have had abdominal discomfort & an upset stomach since.

What a great pub. Free parking as long as you are using the pub, great menu and so clean. Staff were great too and the price was spot on. Plenty of veggie options and good sized portions. Will go again.

Today I visited the red lion in Drayton for breakfast and a visit with Santa. What an amazing time we had! Santa was incredible! Great meals and service at reasonable price staff are always attentive to your needs very homely atmosphere. One of my favourite places to eat and relax.

First time since refurb and had a fantastic meal

Not a good experience, food uninspired. Staff not aware of customers eating at the desk, one guy clearly wiping his nose with his hand....later to bring plates to the table..juk.Being seated near the desk and feeling watched not a great experience. I doubt we will return.

This pub is not at all suitable for wheelchair users. Steps everywhere, booking a table and being offered one too high for the wheelchair user, shown into the restaurant, via the garden, having to go over grassed area to get through new side doors. If needing the toilet, having to go back over the grassed area and over a step to use the facility. I understand this was refurbished recently, but no thoughts or consideration for wheelchair users. Would not recommend 😕

Since loosing the carvery the Sunday roast quality and portion size have down, meat was lovely but all veg seemed blanched then microwaved to order so virtually raw 😐 many better Sunday roasts available in Norwich and at cheaper prices
