Great food and service...best bit was the pigs in blankets. Sticky toffee pudding was to die for 😍

We went to the Red Lion for a birthday celebration last Monday 28.10.24, there were 11 people in our party, we were supposed to sit down at 19.00 and finally got to the table 19.40, took the waitress 20 minutes to take our order after we sat down, 2 people ordered starters, 20 minutes later starters came out, the pub was not packed out, there were a few other people sitting down, we got our main meals at 21.30, well all I can say is, when did they cook it and how long was it under the heated lamps, I had fish and chips and mushy peas, the fish was over cooked and so dry and the chips were the same, we were hungry as we went there straight from work so I struggled trough the bits I could eat. All I can say is the next day 6 out of the 11 people that are at this place were ill. We will not be going back and will not be recommending this place

What a fantastic pub. It mixes traditional pub vibes with modern design and flare. The subtle art deco design compliments the cosy atmosphere. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is full of flavour and a great selection. Pricing is very reasonable considering other venues these days. I’ve visited the Red Lion many times, sometimes for food and sometimes just for drinks. I’ve never been disappointed and I look forward to many more visits

A largish work group (approx 11) booked a table in the evening. The kitchen staff were not equipped to deal with a group of this size and we waited an hour for our food. Most of the plates came out looking as if they had been sat on a hot plate for quite some time. The salads were warm and wilted. I had a vegan option and suffered no ill effects. However 6 of the group had diarrhoea and /or vomiting during the night and the following day.

60 minutes after we ordered our food it arrived and how disappointing it was. Hunters chicken was ordered and the chicken was over cooked at the ends. The salad or shall I call it the dressing was warm and limp. I did mention this snd was told they were busy. Yes we could see that and we needed to be at work the next day and opted out of the deserts. I was so embarrassed and have never received food this bad from The Red Lion

Visited on 28.10.24 with work colleagues and we are all nhs workers well what can I say …………. I definitely cannot give this place any stars, food was late, two of our party had to ask for fresh salad as it had been left under hot plate this was just the start, I have experienced food poisoning all day and most of my colleagues are unwell!! I have emailed greene king all I can say is AVOID

What a great evening. Staff were on us as soon as we approached the bar . Drinks were served . We did then grab a table before we headed for our meal . It’s always difficult to find a Gastro pub . This place nails it !!! Great food and Staff that just bend over backwards. Great place to be .

Visited here recently with my partner as we were in the area and needed somewhere & something decent to eat. We have eaten at many pubs/restaurants so know what good food should taste like and great customer service should be. However, the food here is very basic, my partner had the steak pie which she said the crust was too thick with not much filling. I had fish and chips but the fish arrived with sprinkles of crystal salt on top, which I was NOT happy about as I don't add salt to my meals. And no one asked us if our food was okay when our plates were removed. Also the staff here are very scuffy & impolite. When I asked this middle aged woman with glasses above her head, standing near the bar, if I put my car reg details onto the screen correctly, her reply was "I don't know" without even looking! This I found very rude:( I can safely say we won't be going back here again! Better service and food in the Cock opposite where we'll be going next time!!!

We went in as a large table looking forward to the Sunday roast at 6pm only to be told there was no beef option, so we decided on another option only to be told at time of ordering that there were no more roasts, at 6pm on a Sunday and that we had to choose from the limited Sunday menu. We had to wait 45minutes for our food and 45 minutes for desserts, 3hrs for a meal, that's unacceptable and very poor considering the prices are £15 for a roast and nothing under £10 on the menu, staff seemed as though they didn't want to be there, could be much better, more effort needed from everyone, you will loose all your business to the cock if you don't try harder.

Popped in for lunch with my wife. Very welcoming and friendly place. The food was great and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend and will be returning

Booked in for meal today as our 40th wedding anniversary and this is place where we met. Upon arrival no atmosphere meal lukewarm staff appeared not bothered. Very disappointed to say the least. Will not be returning

Nice atmosphere and really nice service. Unfortunately, my food order was sold out. The salmon I ordered came with ruccola without dressing and there were no potatoes or other side dishes at all. Maybe that's how they eat it in the UK.

I had the duo roast. Worst frozen meal I’ve ever had! Turkey was watery, vegetables had no taste, gravy watery! I’ll never be returning. Such a shame. Used to love the carvery. But now it’s awful. I think if Wetherspoons done a carvery…. They would be better than the red lion!!! I’m not the only person in my party to think the same. I had an estrella…. Avoid! Tasted awful. I never and I mean ever, leave a drink. But I couldn’t do it. After leaving the place two people in my company started to feel rather sicky…. So I’m assuming it was due to the food which they had within the hour of feeling ill. I’m gutted, this used to be great for a carvery. Now it’s poor cheap awful food. Avoid! We spent nearly £200 between us (without the trips to the bar ourselves, never had a follow up)

This one is quickly becoming our new favorite. The food is tasty (had beef bourguignon and lamb shank today), the staff are friendly and the atmosphere and decor are perfect. Great for a date, celebration with family/friends or a casual pint. See you soon again!

A great outside area where you can order food and drink from your phone. So easy. Food is good, but does go up and down a bit, never bad though, I guess depending who is on in the kitchen. Service is quick and good staff.

I met a friend for an evening meal and it was 2 for £15. What value for money . It was so busy for a Tuesday night and can understand why. I would definitely go back and recommend going here.

We had yet another amazing afternoon/evening celebrating my Birthday under the pergola, the staff and the landlady are all fantastic, couldn’t wanted for a better day, highly recommend hiring the pergola for your special event.

Another fantastic day at the red lion today with the family,the Sunday roast was as always great,in the afternoon they had a live band playing called addictive mix they were brilliant, lovely to see a community come together and not only support their local pub but also have a great time meeting new friends,well done to all the staff today you never disappoint, can't wait for the next music event xx

The prices are affordable, the atmosphere is very nice and the food is delicious.

Really good service, beer garden is great with tonnes of seating, some covered and some not, dog friendly facilities and the food and drinks are great.

Do not eat here any more. It's such a shame. This place was so nice. Now the food is shocking. Frozen roast potatoes and parsnips, & a boil in a bag lamb shank all for the price of just under £17. Won't be coming back.

Nice venue, plenty of staff, all friendly, food very nice. We visited sunday afternoon looking forward to a roast, but they had run out sadly. Only issue really was the 'creamy' mash which wasnt creamy ay all, more flat & solid & rather grey looking.

Red Lion is my local and it’s the best local you could ask for. The staff are incredible, the food is great, the service is amazing. Not a bad word about to say about the place, people, food or drink. 10/10. I would recommend to anybody. :-)

Went there to try their so called award wining steak & ale pie which was tasty but I think they forgot to put the steak meat in it as I only came across 2 pices & 1 was pure grissle and the portion of mash potatoes was about a heaped desert spoon full! How much do potatoes cost theese days?

An 80th birthday party today where the staff were superb, the food was really good and there was even live music in the garden (which was great!). Thanks to everyone.

This pub has very welcoming and polite staff. I visited to watch the first England match of the euros and was impessed by the garden set up. Tv was clear and not too loud for families to enjoy. We all had some tasty food and really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Came to the red lion tonight to watch England's first game in the euros and what a great night we had. The pub has installed a big screen TV in the garden and it is great,it was such a lovely evening and to see so many people in the garden enjoy the football was fantastic,it really made the night special. Drinks were flowing and the food and service was excellent, even though it was packed plenty of staff working so you never had to wait,so a big thumbs up to the lion bringing the community together,it's coming home,it's coming home,it's coming footballs coming home 😁😁😁

Had a lovely Fathers day meal here with all the family,we had the roast dinners and desserts. Helpful staff And also good parking.

Great food at a reasonable price

Went on Wednesday 12th June 2024 I ordered a Mushroom and Ale pie and told the Guy i was a Vegetarian. After i had eaten half my meal i noticed that the pie they had given me was Chicken. I was shocked for someone that has been Vegetarian for 44 years. I told the guy and he did appologise but he didn'tv seem too interested. I would avoid this place if you have any special dietry requirements as the food safety is clearly lacking.

Lovely pub. Nice decor. Had the special 2 for so much through the week. Really nice and good portion size. We were a party of 4 and all the meals were really nice.

Greene King should be deeply saddened by the attitude towards people who need Gluten Free. The staff member this evening was completely uninterested and unaware of GF/ceoliac. She couldn’t even offer crisps nuts or food. Stating for me to look at the menu were it stated nah! So so disappointing. If a kitchen cannot offer vegetarian food without fear of contamination how on earth can it be a clean kitchen. The wallpaper was nice

We regularly pop into the Red Lion for a weekday lunch and really enjoy it - today was no exception. Service was friendly and quick, the food excellent, prices reasonable and the atmosphere nice - calm and quiet, but busy enough not to be dead This is standard English pub fare done properly and I would happily recommend it to anyone

Had another top Sunday roast here. Excellent service even though they were quite busy. Nothing too much trouble lovely food and drinks we shall return

Would not recommend this place as you get ripped off for drinks, £5.30 for 2 dashes of postmix, and yet to be told from the rude member of staff that it would be cheaper to buy a pint of postmix for £3.70, won't be coming back here again, pity as been here before and service/food was really good

Visited today. The food here has always been excellent. The service is usually good but today the service was slow. We finished our meal and wanted the desert menu but no staff were coming so we paid and left for a desert elsewhere. Such a shame. We will be back.

Would not recommend this place for drinks as you will be ripped off, how this company is allowed to charge £2.65 per dash of post mix is beyond the joke, plus they have the cheek to pour the postmix first and then add the spirit after, and then to be told, you would of saved money if you brought a pint of postmix, and the manger told me me this, better staff training needed

Just had the Red Lion Thursday steak .. brilliant.. cook to perfection.. got a feeling this might become a regular thing .. compliments to all .. especially the chef 👍

We went for lunch today and found the restaurant to be very warm, comfortable and friendly, the waitress was very helpful and we weren't kept waiting for anything.

We rang the pub very last minute. Luckily they had a table available for the 2 of us. No trouble parking as there’s a really generous sized carpark. The place had a lovely upbeat atmosphere and the staff were all friendly. Service was quick and the food was really tasty. We won’t hesitate to go back. Thank you all xx

Sunday lunch on 31st March. Roast lunch superb. Freshly cooked, hot, homemade Yorkshire pudding and very plentiful. Good for large appetites. Would definitely recommend.

We order our drinks and meals of which was served with the same friendly smile and politeness . The food was outstanding and all cooked to protection. This is a lovely family-run pub that has been established for many hundreds of years. We go once every couple of months or so whenever I am down from the North of England visiting family. If you are a new visitor, you are warmly welcomed. If you are a regular or returning visitor, you are treated like valued-family members. All ages are welcome and there is a large covered outdoor beer garden area to sit at on those warmer days. The service is excellent, with friendly staff who always on hand with nothing being too much for them to help with. The quality of the food is excellent with generous portions offered with a menu that caters for all ages and tastes. There is a great children's menu. Whenever we finish there, we look forward to the next occasion. The management are friendly and welcoming and add to the warmth of the pub. Parking is ample and free; ensure you register your car, on the screens provided indoors, on arrival so that you can spend time there without worrying about the clock. There are seasonal events such as quiz nights, theme nights and visiting entertainment throughout the year. If you intend staying near Drayton whether it be for business or pleasure, you can do far worse than visiting the Red Lion in Drayton, Norfolk.

Came to the red lion with the family for a mother's Day treat,and it certainly was that. The food was excellent we all had roasts and they were delicious, food and drink very reasonably priced, even though the pub was packed it didn't seem noisy or overcrowded and we were served promptly and politely. Lovely food sadly booked a table it wasn't ready had to wait over half hour preordered food week before they didn't reserve the dessert so told they had none of what I ordered very disappointed

Sunday roast was mediocre at best. The pub now serves all roasts as a plated up meal which looked as if it had been plated up and kept warm for ages. The pigs in blankets looked like left overs and re heated as it was impossible to tell that bacon was on the sausage. Cauliflower cheese was a mush and tasteless. The turkey was like processed and sliced and didn’t taste good at all. Very disappoint compared to what they used to serve when it was a proper carvery.

What can I say have been here a few times over the last couple of months, and it's been great, having told family how good it was, we decided to all come in for mother's day. Really wished we hadn't, nothing wrong with the food but the service was awful. We sat down at 6pm by 7:40 just managed to clear mains plates away after we had finished eating around 7pm, some of us ordered dessert after my daughter had to go and find someone to take the order. All in all we didn't leave to nearly 8:15 never even got an apology. Over 2hrs for 9 mains and 4 desserts is shocking. Will be very reluctant to return again.

Recently rediscovered this place and we are now frequently returning. Good choice of food and drink, polite and friendly service and decent value for money. The inside is warm and welcoming, with a traditional feel to it.

The food fine, fairly tasty and a wide range. I don’t know what happened out the back but the staff were less than accommodating. The waitress arrived “Drinks?” Said with a confronting tone. No matter how polite we were they just seemed miserable and verging on rude. Everything we ordered (which would increase the bill!) seemed a hassle. It would put us off returning.

Excellent food , very good and friendly service. As a family get together, we have made the Red Lion our venue of choice on the last three occasions . And probably the fourth 😊
