I've visited the red lion a few times and always very happy with everything. My sister and I enjoyed the most amazing Sunday lunch with a glass of wine and it was the best Sunday lunch so far for us and will definitely be returning soon. Staff very friendly and helpful a relaxed atmosphere food and wine absolutely wonderful and a very price compared to some other places.

Enjoyed the beer garden in the sun, had some beers and shaken cocktails recommended by Will, house lemonade was amazing too, excellent service and lovely local. Would recommend and will be coming back

My experience at this Greene King was unreal. My server Will was so friendly, efficient and lovely to talk to. The drinks and food were really good for the price, overall it was a great night and would definitely go again!!

From the moment I arrived, The Red Lion felt like something special. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with just the right touch of elegance. The food was absolutely exquisite—every dish full of flavour, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care and expertise. The drinks menu was just as impressive. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the selection of wines and cocktails, each one thoughtfully crafted and perfectly balanced. What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the service. Every member of staff was kind and attentive, but Holly stood out in particular. She was especially warm, incredibly helpful and genuine, making us feel completely looked after from start to finish. It’s rare to find a place that gets everything right, but The Red Lion truly did. I can’t wait to return.

Had a lovely afternoon tea at The Red Lion in Drayton. The sandwiches were fresh, the scones were warm and fluffy, and the cakes were delicious. A great selection of teas to choose from, all served in a cosy setting. Holly was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. A perfect afternoon treat!

Haven't been in for a while so thought a visit was due. Staff were just as friendly and accommodating as I remember. We had the camembert sharer starter, followed by the gammon and hunters chicken, all of which were really good, and came out in good time. We will be sure not to leave it so long until our next visit.

We were away for the weekend and on the 2nd night we decided to have a drink and meal at the red lion. The staff were very attentive, my partner had a decent chicken and ham pie (although a bit more meat in the pie would have been good). The pub was comfortable, but a tad cold as we were out by a side door that kept being opened. Now we come to my sheperds pie.....it looked amazing and I was really looking forward to it. When I started eating it, I realised that there was a heavy flavour of herbs which overpowered the flavour of the sheperds pie. I'd say it was possibly rosemary, thyme? I uae it myself in sheperds pie but I've never eaten one before which had so much herb added. It ruined it for me. That said, we would come back when we visit Norwich again but I definitely wouldn't have the same meal again. Hope this critique helps the chef and others who might order this meal. All in all, it was a good atmosphere in the pub.

The best place for food and drinks!!

Went here for lunch on a Friday. Really quick and great service where very busy but hardly waited to place order. When food arrived was good portions and very tasty and very reasonably priced for the lunch meal deals. Definitely will be back.

Came in on Sunday evening and was previously aware that there might not be any roasts left and when we arrived there wasn’t which was fine as we was previously warned (fantastic!) the food was absolutely amazing and definitely worth the money!! Was served by a lovely Yong lady called Beth and always greeted us with a smile! Recommend the hunters chicken snitzel and she wasn’t wrong it was amazing ! Couldn’t fault her at all very attentive to our every need and nothing was too much of an issue for her. The way she interacted with others in the restaurant was amazing!! Bar staff was also amazing !! And drinks was very well presented and nothing was missing !! Amazing place to eat!! Keep up the hard work it doesn’t go unnoticed!!

We came in for my grandmothers birthday, who which comes in regularly with her friends and always has lovely things to say about the pub, our dinner was lovely, service was average but when it came to dessert my partner found mouldy raspberries with his crumble, the waitress didn’t check on us again after serving desserts and when told about the raspberries we got a very blunt reply of “sorry about that” as well as when given our bill she almost charged us for a dessert we didn’t have, this could have been a mistake due to the dessert added on was one we had originally asked for after being told about 15 minutes after ordering that they didn’t have it, regardless though if we hadn’t checked the bill we still would have been charged for it. Our dessert plates had also not been cleared by the time we left considering we had hung about a while after finishing them. Thanks for a lovely main course otherwise

Been here before on route to primeveil and had a fantastic time so we come back 6 of us for my wife’s 50th Birthday and we was seated in a perfect booth right by the till for the waiters .. i thought this a a great spot … but service would’ve been a 5 star if it didn’t feel young waitress didn’t just stand there right behind me listening to our conversions …. Even my elderly mother asked why she was just standing there … proper awkward .. there was a time there was 3 waiters stand there … i was gunna ask them to move away but the wife asked me not too …… i had the mixed grill and asked for a medium cooked steak and it was well done … again the wife said just eat it …. So i did 😂😂 all other meals where just be fine and all was pleased …. Whilst asking for the bill the total came as normal to the table to myself as i didn’t want my wife or parents to worry as it was for a birthday … when she came back to the table she said the amount quite loudly so the table could hear … which i felt was wrong , should be private at a full table ….. these are young staff and don’t probably realize what they done .. but still … should’ve been better . I honestly really like this Greene King and will be back for another try again and give a 5 star review which should be easily achieved here

Food was delicious, had a real ‘home cooked’ feel to it not just reheated in a microwave. Waitresses were friendly polite and attentive. Food was served in a timely manner.

Food hasn't been great the last two times we have visited. Lamb shank had hardly any meat on it... all bone. Bit disappointed as portions seem to have got much smaller and it's not a cheap place to eat

Used to be an excellent place to eat out. Visited today for Sunday lunch and was very disappointed. Drinks took 20 minutes to arrive and a fair while more for the food. 3 of 4 meals came out and no gravy for the roasts, and had a lengthy wait for the gravy and 4th meal by which point my food was nearly cold. Carrot and cucumber sticks on the kids meals were dried up and discoloured in places, must have been chopped before the weekend - I did show the waitress who got some more which were a bit better but still seemed fairly old. She also got some peas which had been forgotten from one meal when asked. The roasts were poor. The gravy was so thick it could hardly be poured from the jug, beef very fatty in parts, other areas of it very tough, carrots were not peeled and cut it large chunks which had an unpleasant taste. Roast potatoes straight out of a bag in the freezer. Yorkshire pudding was the best bit. The fish in my daughters fish and chip kids meal was dripping with oil which made an orange pool on the plate. After this the desserts took absolutely ages to come. We wouldn't have bothered having them if we could have predicted that longer wait. My sons brownie and smarties sundae was missing the smarties - these were obtained by a member of staff but a meal is no fun when you have to keep chasing things. Don't know what has happened to this place, used to be great.

Had a meal today, best fish and chips I've had in a restaurant for a long time.

Olde Worlde Pub and Restaurant. Probably a coaching Inn at one time? Deceptively large inside, well decorated and clean. Nice friendly staff. Food was OK! Chicken strips for starters (came in a small pie tin), for mains I had Lamb shank, vegetables were tepid and overcooked, the lamb shank was very fatty and gristly (more like mutton than lamb). For dessert I had crumble which was OK. Overall with drinks it worked out about £35 per head. Pleasant enough for pub grub and the price.

We sat in the dining area . Friendly waitresses . Our chosen wine wasn’t available so we opted for another which was also perfect . Meals were great , really enjoyable atmosphere. We left to walk home very happy .

Meal was billed as a 2 course festive carvery. It was just their bog standard carvery no pigs in blankets in sight. Over prices for what it was. And they forgot one of our parties deserts. When it did arrive it was missing the sauce!! Not impressed Since then it has been taken over by Green King and has improved no end. The only complaint I had was paying £3.65 for a standard bottle of still mineral water.

Enjoyed a lovely Christmas meal here last night. This pub always provides great food and atmosphere. However one issue from last night leaves a sour taste. My wife ordered a drink from the menu, think it might have been on the specials, which was essentially a rosé mixed with a fever tree cordial. However, the 'spritz' hadn't been added to the till as a drink, so the person serving insisted he had to charge for both items separately, which of course costs more than the menu suggested the spritz should cost. She did argue the point, but the server said he had no choice but to charge for both. Personally I'd have thought that as this was the pub's fault, they would be the ones to take the financial hit...not the cosumer.

We had a great night here last night for our works Christmas meal. There was 19 of us and the service was really good. The food was lovely that we had ordered off the Christmas menu and the price was of great value. The staff were attentive to all our needs even though we were a large group. I had booked online through their Portal and the communication was great when I had to make any changes. I cannot find any faults to write here. Thank you for all you hard work. Merry Christmas!

Perfect pub, that caters for all. This is our local, and how lucky we are to have it. Stu is always super welcoming and friendly every time, so are all of the staff. Whether you looking to have a quick drink, evening out with friends, an easy dinner, or for a celebration with the friends and family - this is the place to visit. Varst selection of drinks, and a line up of draught beers and ales better than all the other local pubs. The food is lovely, and good value for money - Katsu Chicken is 100% my go to. Events held all year round, including live music, NYE & Xmas, quizes and much more. The large garden is lush in the summer, and the undercover sections are perfect for those cooler evenings.

Been my local go to pub for a while now, me and a few mates will pop in once or twice a week for a drink and sometimes over a weekend. Always greeted by stu who we have grown a friendship with which make the whole experience of the red lion that much better, food and drink orders are always a quick service and served by friendly staff. I drive past this place regularly but never been in until this week! I took my elderly parents here for a bit to eat. The selection of food and drinks is fantastic, shame I was driving! My mums hearing isn’t what it use to be but our waiter Stuart was fantastic, he could see she was struggling and he was patient and attentive with everything. Most defiantly heading back there again as my parents loved it.

The red lion has been my local favourite, I’ve been coming here for years, but hadn’t had a chance to recently, so decided to take my family for a meal out, as always didn’t disappointment, great food and drinks, Stu in particular was very attentive to my partner, me and my kids.

Been my local for a long time, and will continue to be. Staff always make you feel welcome, thanks to stu for making sure me and my partner always feel welcome and sorting our Christmas and Nye plans out!

Had a very pleasant experience at the red Lion recently for a anniversary dinner. Environment is very enjoyable with great food and great service. Stuart our waiter was attentive and couldn't do enough for us. Looking forward to returning!

So I've already given a 5 star a couple of weeks ago, we have been back tonight for a family dinner, and it was very poor,everything was served cold, not impressed ,but still a great service from staff

Always loved having a catchup with friends or colleagues at The Red Lion. Arrived at 6.50pm and table booked for 7pm. We waited 25 minutes gor the table yo be ready and then quickly ordered our food . One hour later at 8.40 it arrived. No apologies even when I noticed my salad was warm and mentioned this. Didn't expect some of my colleagues to go down with good poisoning the next day. When my colleague who works from home made a formal complaint she was told she had norovirus. Didn't think The Red Lion were clinicians. Not going there ever again.

Had Christmas lunch there yesterday with our neighbours. A really good atmosphere, lovely food and excellent, friendly service. An enjoyable couple of hours - seriously recommended.

Got some rude ass lady as a landlord no safety for dogs whole pubs a joke prices are way to pricey and if ur not a local acoholic then ur in the wrong she has no respect for customers and argues with people at a wake she really needs to grow up at her big age embarrassing 😂 just a tip anyone thinking of going here deffo just take the bus into town !!

Food and service good and value for money but by no means exceptional

Been here may of time and had an amazing experience each time I’ve been. It’s ran by some amazing people and a great team, definitely would recommend this place to everyone. It suited for all occasions as I’ve had a birthday meal with family and also a wake here and I couldn’t have asked for better service and making us all feel welcomed. Many thanks to all the team for such a lovely time!

We went to the Red Lion for a birthday celebration last Monday 28.10.24, there were 11 people in our party, we were supposed to sit down at 19.00 and finally got to the table 19.40, took the waitress 20 minutes to take our order after we sat down, 2 people ordered starters, 20 minutes later starters came out, the pub was not packed out, there were a few other people sitting down, we got our main meals at 21.30, well all I can say is, when did they cook it and how long was it under the heated lamps, I had fish and chips and mushy peas, the fish was over cooked and so dry and the chips were the same, we were hungry as we went there straight from work so I struggled trough the bits I could eat. All I can say is the next day 6 out of the 11 people that are at this place were ill. We will not be going back and will not be recommending this place

A largish work group (approx 11) booked a table in the evening. The kitchen staff were not equipped to deal with a group of this size and we waited an hour for our food. Most of the plates came out looking as if they had been sat on a hot plate for quite some time. The salads were warm and wilted. I had a vegan option and suffered no ill effects. However 6 of the group had diarrhoea and /or vomiting during the night and the following day.

What a fantastic pub. It mixes traditional pub vibes with modern design and flare. The subtle art deco design compliments the cosy atmosphere. Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is full of flavour and a great selection. Pricing is very reasonable considering other venues these days. I’ve visited the Red Lion many times, sometimes for food and sometimes just for drinks. I’ve never been disappointed and I look forward to many more visits

60 minutes after we ordered our food it arrived and how disappointing it was. Hunters chicken was ordered and the chicken was over cooked at the ends. The salad or shall I call it the dressing was warm and limp. I did mention this snd was told they were busy. Yes we could see that and we needed to be at work the next day and opted out of the deserts. I was so embarrassed and have never received food this bad from The Red Lion

Visited on 28.10.24 with work colleagues and we are all nhs workers well what can I say …………. I definitely cannot give this place any stars, food was late, two of our party had to ask for fresh salad as it had been left under hot plate this was just the start, I have experienced food poisoning all day and most of my colleagues are unwell!! I have emailed greene king all I can say is AVOID
