Always a good one at the Stonehouse. All the staff are mega friendly, especially the manager who is always ensuring everyone is comfortable and happy, running around with a smile on her face. Matt and Mark always happy for a chat. Perfect for an escape.

Came here with my friends to celebrate my new job on Tuesday and it was probably the best place we could have chosen. The staff were super friendly and even congratulated me as well. Food was good too and didn’t wait long even though it was quite busy. Would recommend for a meal as food is amazing and staff are very friendly.

Absolutely delicious carvery beef was cooked to perfection. Can't go wrong and followed up with an unlimited ice-cream what more could you ask for. Staff were really helpful and cheery.

Great all you can eat breakfast certainly left full and fulfilled waffles are a great touch. Lovely and hot with a cup of coffee

Sadly our experience wasn't very good at all. Booked in for 7pm but struggled to find anybody to check us in! We picked our own table and eventually found somebody to take our order. Two carvery meals along with another adult meal and 2 child meals. We had to chase up the other meals after about half an hour despite being told 10 minutes! As for the carvery meals......only ham/gammon left! That was inedible because of how salty it was and the rest of the carvery deck was dried out and also inedible! I'm sure they advertise as serving until 9 or 10pm so how could they run out of food? Very disappointing anyhow and the other meals weren't much better when they finally arrived. . I've scored 3 stars only because of the lovely staff working at this place on the day we visited. They were all lovely and attentive but they can only work with the tools that they are supplied with by their managers! If I could rate my personal plate of food from the carvery then it would be one star or less! I should have been warned in advance that by booking a table for 7pm would mean only the scrapings would be left on the carvery deck! . Also.......under staffing was very apparent but those that were working deserve a medal for their hard work and dedication for probably minimum wage.

Went in at lunchtime today and sat outside. Arrived at about 1.30. Loads of spaces in their car park. Chose our food (not carvery or pizza) and went to the bar to order. The inside was not busy, only two or three tables in use and there were plenty of spare tables outside. I had to wait a very long time at the bar until anyone appeared and when finally someone did appear she said are you wanting to order food? Naturally I said yes as it happened to be lunchtime and a concerned look appeared on her face and she told me that the wait time for food was over an hour!! Where were all the staff on a bank holiday when perhaps people would like to eat out? What on earth would they do if the restaurant was actually busy! No explanation was given for what is a ridiculous wait time for an average restaurant undergoing massive renovations. Very disappointed that we would have to wait so long and so we promptly left and enjoyed a meal elsewhere! It's a shame because it's quite picturesque overlooking the river outside with the renovation work out of site.

We stayed in August travelling from Spain. the room was very clean and the all the staff were friendly.the full breakfast is incredible recommend to all .not far from there about 10 mins walking u can rent a electric boat with bishy Barney boats 20£ for an hour and u can see a bit of Norwich

Rooms were good but no air conditioning. Food was lovely. A number of choices and everyday specials 👌 were good value for money. My family loved the main meals and dessert serves. The outside of the place does not loom inviting but was pleasantly surprised once I was inside. I would love to visit again.

The best way to describe our experience was like we’d stepped into an episode of faulty towers. From the minute we arrived the disjointed experience almost made the lack of charm of the place humorous. Of course you pay a low price for the cheaper experience. However when it came to the food we were severely disappointed. The carvery looked sad, it had obviously been stood for a mammoth amount of time as everything had either gone hard or over cooked. Equally the carvery offering was minuscule. The staff never stopped working however I was unsure as to what they were actually doing. The food we ordered that wasn’t from the carvery selection was stone cold which has some irony too it as the desert we ordered got burnt in the oven and couldn’t be served to us due to its chargrilled state. The location is nice however a lick of paint and potentially a lawnmower could make the outside space that bit more pleasant. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a laugh and some below average food.

Been a few years since I last came here, so thought I'd give it a try as I received a voucher. And it needed using. Came on a Sunday, and decided on the carvery. Fish and ships used to be included as part of that, but is now available as a separate meal, so no chips & gravy for me! The food was OK, but I think better is available for the price of £11.99, which is a big increase on what it used to be, and I do t think it is very good value. The selection of vegetables was OK, but the gravy was a bit runny. I don't think I will be back in any great hurry, which is a pity as I used to quite enjoy it.

The Carvery was excellent. The Turkey was melt in the mouth and the Beef was the same. Often food at a Carvey can be hit and miss when cooked in bulk, however we were very impressed with the excellent quality and very good value for money.

I loved coming here, the Chips were immaculate and the servers were so kind and helpful, very good prices and the lakeside view was beautiful.

Service was crusty, and the food was cold, except for what they ran out of), but at least the service was slow. If I could give 0 stars I would!

Lovely garden in nice weather to eat or drink. also has a carvery and you can order a carvery for pick up or delivery any day of the week as well as all other food through the app. You can also use the app to book a table before arrival or just turn up. And if you wish as well as going to the bar to order food, you can just sit at the table and order through the app with your table number . There is also a car park at the back and parking at the front of the town house. My only gripe is there is no fans or air conditioning when eating in when the weather is very hot which can be uncomfortable when eating your meal. But overall a good place and good experience.

We visited at 4.45, the food looked like it had been out since 10am. Everything was dry, shrivelled and hard enough you couldnt even chew it. Safe to say the children needed dinner when we got home! The server was very uninterested in general. There was arguments from the kitchen and the bar staff discussing what a mess the kitchen was. We won't be returning which is a shame as we live so close I never leave a bad review but you have a perfect river location and you will loose many customers if this is the service they recieve .

Excellent roast diner, Chef Chuff and right hand man "M" delivered outstanding personal service, nothing was to much trouble, we look forward to going back again soon.

Lovely evening drink by the river, shared a pizza (recommend the stuffed crust). Staff were all friendly and attentive. Helpful when choosing a G&T (can recommend the cherry gin!). Garden well kept, nice to watch the swans on the river. Atmosphere was relaxed. Will visit again!

We visited the Town House today for the breakfast offerings. Unfortunately it wasn’t the experience we’d expect. Starting with the food: While I accept there is an inherent risk of less-than-perfect food from any buffet style establishment. We were left severely underwhelmed by the food we received. The items chosen where as follows; Sausages: nice sausage, cooked well Bacon: as you’d expect, a touch on the fatty side but cooked well (not too crispy, or too floppy) Eggs: for fried eggs they made hard boiled eggs seem runny. Very dry and rubbery Hash browns: cooked well, nice and crisp with soft interior Black pudding: would have given a hockey puck a run for its money. Essentially inedible. Fried Bread: would have made a good paving slab. Again, inedible. Waffle: nearly broke my teeth. Inedible. Mushrooms (additional charge): very oily and cold, disappointing. The service was fine, Although when ordering through the app there is minimal interaction with staff really. Atmosphere was pretty non existent and we chose to sit in the garden, where the peace was ruined by a group of screaming children left to their own devices, which we appreciate isn’t necessarily the venues fault but is worth a mention.

Just been in for Sunday lunch and it was an experience I won't be repeating. The interior looks tired and dirty, it was incredibly hot (no fans or air conditioning) and the chef at the carvery appeared to have lost the will to live (couldn't have been less enthused if he'd tried). I had the carvery, which was average at best. My son had an awful burger that looked nothing like the picture in the menu. The meat was thin and pale, a bit like the cheap burgers you'd expect from a dodgy roadside caravan. To be fair, it was quite cheap, but I'd have been happy to pay more for better quality food. Dreadful! THE REPLY RECEIVED TO MY COMMENT IS TOTALLY GENERIC AND SUGGESTS THAT NOTHING WILL BE DONE AT ALL.

Absolutely disgusting, all the carvery food was dried up, roast poratoes like bricks, veg dry, sauce area dirty, gravy had thick skin, Pizza hard. Toilets stunk. Waste of time, should be shut down. Spoilt birthday meal.

Absolutely disgusted with my visit here today. Usually it’s lovely, weekdays i go and get served by a lovely short lady, with blonde bob. Today, i thought i’d visit for a sunday roast, well i regretted that. The lady who i assume was the manager was rudely bossing the staff around, midwhile another girl in black was running around doing everything as the manager just stood there. She was on her phone constantly, again whilst the other girl was doing everything. I could feel the pressure and stress from this girl. This is no way to treat your staff. Absolutely shocking. The food was ok, i was asked if it was ok and didn’t want to put anymore pressure on this girl. Never again will i visit when the manager is on. Such a shame with a lovely pub. Another note was the manager passed food on the pizza deck and said ‘oh emily can take that as it’s the garden’ again, no way to treat your staff in my opinion? Again a shame.

The Town House is good value for money. Called in when we couldn't be bothered to do our own. Plenty of choice of veg, three meats, Yorkies and sausages.. Small or large carvery available. The only slight shame the food could have been a tad warmer, food got cold fast so you eat in double quick time.

Had a Sunday Cavery the food was great especially the roast potatoes, the yellow carrots were a nice treat. The service staff were polite and friendly. We used the app voucher which made it good value for money, all round win. Would recommend and will return another Sunday.

we were there only over night without me als. The room was clean, the view fantastic and the People very helpfull and friendly. getting a parking slot on Saturday was no Problem.

Had a carvery vegetables could have been fresher, the roast potatoes were overdone BUT the meat (turkey and gammon ) was just right nice and moist and not dry.

Brought my wife here for lunch as a treat and we were not disappointed I opted for the burger it was delicious, table Iver looking the river as it was raining. Staff were super friendly and helpful couldn't have asked for more.

Had the perfect meal, can't beat a good calzone and even better service from Charlie

Went as a family and had Nacho starter which was a disaster and ended up as an inedible bowl of spicy mush. I let staff know and he laughed and said sorry. Made no effort to offer alternative, refund or even a dessert to make up for it.

Food and service were good. Matt in particular was very kind and made sure everything was okay.

So we stayed here from the 3rd to the 6th of July 24. And from the minute we arrived was greated with a smile. By Charlie the manager and she was fantastic. Then we met Matt & matty, and both guys were amazing from start to finish and couldn't do enough for us. And these 2 need the special mention and maybe a promotion. Then we get to the room. We'll you get what you pay for. The room was very small and basic. But the view over the river was outstanding and the bed super comfy room 10. There was a big fan in the room. Which sorry to say was needed as our room was above or near the kitchen so a lot of heat. Oh, and a smell of potatoes in the shower room for some reason but not the end of the world. Now to food food was spot on can't fault and amazing value for money as was the beer prices. Would i use again yes but not in the summer as rooms are just too hot. Anyway, thank you so so much for our warm welcome and stay. Wayne & Amanda

I booked a table online so easy to do for fathers day , I ordered at the table via the app and the service staff were very good . The queue for carvery had died down so didn't have to wait long and the food was lovely. Very busy place but always made to feel welcomed , definitely be going again .

Had a dinner here today with my friend. We sat in the garden overlooking the river until the rain drove us inside. Service and meals were excellent. Would definitely recommend this pub for a tete a tete. Will definitely be returning.

Value for money is always good and the staff are very polite and nice. But the place seriously needs a good clean and some money spent on it. My kids always love the pizza and the burgers and the carvery is average but suffices. However the vegan option for one member of our party was horrendous I believe you call it the plant-based chick,N. It was dry overcooked and small, and didn't come over until upon a time five of the other members had finished their mains.

Came for a carvery here and have to say the place is pretty filthy. Needs a good deep clean the ceilings are yellow in the dining area, mildew curtains & sticky floors. The food isn't great but could be out fault going for a carvery midweek evening, the gravy (or lack thereof) was congealed and lumpy. Took 10 minutes before someone came to ask the kitchen for fresh gravy, was told none left. The dregs literally looked like they'd continually topped it up with more instant gravy and water it was so dark and what I did get to taste was of pure salt. The pizzas looked better so if you do come here avoid the carvery & opt for pizza. Townhouse please deep clean!

Stopped for 2 nights staff very friendly the whole place could do with a whole renovation

We went and had a carvery and a burger it was absolutely disgusting the burger hasn't been near a grill it wasn't even brown think it was cooked in a microwave wouldn't give it to my dog carvery wasn't great staff were not trained and unprofessional

Came in on a Sunday. The restaurant was short-staffed and didn't have anyone welcoming us. A large family of 12 pushed past us despite there being a sign to wait at the door. My wife and I waited for 10 minutes at the bar to be serviced despite nobody else waiting. We ordered two large carveries and went to collect our food. Unfortunately, we were told to come back later as they were "still recovering from the lunchtime rush" at 5PM. Waited an additional 20 minutes for our food. When we returned to our table, the party of 12 was being too loud so we moved outside. The children from the party of 12 ran outside and started screaming in the garden. The food was good quality and we overall enjoyed the experience. But I wasn't impressed by the waiting times or service.

Waited a stupid amount of time on my food which came out incorrectly and much later than others in my party who ordered much later than me. Had to chase up my order which I then had to chase up again as I was forgot about, even though she was nice and friendly. If it was busy I would have understood, but would have preferred care or understanding for the issue. Props to the one woman who seemed to be more commited and understanding than the lost looking what I assume to be older manager or owner who seemed to be treating it like a day out rather than assisting in issues he should be focused on. Food did not come with the "generous" portions advertised, tasted good, but not worth the price of drinks or food if you have your staff overworked and managers having a day out

First time visit The Town House, daughter craving for English Sunday roast, as we hadn't had since we visited the UK last year. The menu was extensive, but our eyes were on one thing only, the carvery roast, with free flow vegetables. The service was very good, very friendly. The food exceeded our expectations and was enjoyed by the whole party (6).

The simply burger was delicious, I would certainly recommend and a pudding with a drink for only £13 not bad and food tastes amazing

Fantastic all you can eat breakfast. Good value and plenty of other items for other occasions. Always worth the visit.

Not quite what I expected a chain hotel to be like, hotel upstairs smells musty, really not pleasing. Room was clean and spacious (that’s what gets the star) breakfast was poor in my opinion, asked for continental and didn’t get it. Numerous times misgendered by the lady on breakfast “sir” I may be tall but I can assure you I’m a woman. I ended up going else where for breakfast as I felt offended more than anything. Food in the evening just felt like anything deep fried goes. Minus the carvery Burger I had was tiny, over cooked and wasn’t appealing at all. Desert again tiny. Tiny sizes but high prices! To top my disaster of a 4 day stay off the manager I met was beyond unhelpful & quite frankly needs retraining in customer service skills. I was distressed & panicking because I’d dropped my key in the checkout box & needed to use the shower before I depart due to a medical emergency. Nothing he can do “we don’t know if you’ve checked out our not” - I had that room booked until Saturday so now I’ve had to nip and pay else where for a night to use the shower and clean my self up & pay for my car to be valeted too. Real lack of understanding which left me feeling embarrassed and quite frankly ashamed to be disabled. Not every disability is visible & I shouldn’t have to shout out my needs in a loud pub and feel humiliated. A simple check of the booking in and two minutes to retrieve my key and let me use the bathroom id paid till Saturday to use would have been the appropriate response. Won’t be staying here again, it’s a shame really because if it was run by better trained staff and given some paint and love… it would be a nice place!

Great place to visit, rebekka sat us and made sure everything was perfect, kids loved playing in the garden and the ice cream machine. Nothing could have made this experience better. Will be back when next passing through Norwich

No food on carvery was all given to people who ordered takeaway! Chap behind bar was extremely rude! Draft Stella didn't taste like Stella, was just to ow yer we have problems with that, awfullllllll service !!!!

Had come in to order a philly burger takeaway on 15/05/2024. Ended up waiting an hour for it....poorly managed you should respect people's time.

Lovely friendly staff but sadly the food service was really poor. Lack of selection, no one at the counter to help, slow refilling, no sauces out, no waffles, food was dried out. Really disappointed today unfortunately.

We arrive at this fantastic place where we was met with a smiling chap called Matthew from the front of house team. Made us feel warm and welcome. We order some food which was amazing well done to the chef ( food wasn't over price) the quality of the food was 5*. Matthew over look everything to serving us drinks and ordering food to bringing our food and checking on us. He a big credit to the team. I actually thought he was a manger at first due to how professional he was. Definitely coming back. Thanks Town House

The food was ok for the price, 3 courses for under £20 can't co plain really but the food really needed some kind of taste. Most things were very bland which was unfortunate. A bit of salt would do wonders.

A great wee place to grab a bite. Staff is lovely as always, food is great, atmosphere is great and it’s a quick waiting time. Would highly recommend as it’s overall an excellent restaurant.

It was awful. Once I mentioned that I don’t eat gluten, the staff insisted on spending 10 or 15 minutes reading legal disclaimers and showing me legal statements on an ipad and insisting I confirm I had read and understood it all. It was very much like being arrested. They kept insisting they needed to ‘protect their staff’. I have never been so embarrassed and frustrated. No other restaurant does this! Most just put a GF symbol next to the item on the menu and make a note when ordering to pass to the kitchen staff. It was a truly abysmal customer experience, which was completely unnecessary and definitely not required by law (as the staff kept wrongly claiming). No other restaraunts do this! Just put the potential allergens next to item on the printed menu, and send a note to the kitchen staff. That’s it! No need for pages and pages of verbal and written legal disclaimers!
