Mark and mandy were friendly and chatty as were all the staff. Food was nice would be better if there were more choice of veg like normal cabbage and broccoli instead of pickled red cabbage (can't really moan at the moment as only £6 instead of £9.50)

Brilliant food at exceptionally reasonable price, amazing customer service & lovely riverside views. The Manager (Charley), the chefs and bar staff are all so friendly, welcoming and efficient even when really busy. I regularly have meals at the Town House and always have a positive experience. Take today, even when he was obviously really busy, David the Chef, was friendly and humourous and went out of his way to cater for us, even bringing freshly cooked vegetables to our table. Thank you so much to all the staff who work so hard to make the Town House so brilliant.

A fantastic carvery once again! This is fast becoming my favourite place to eat in Norwich. The service was outstanding from the moment we walked in. Drinks were really reasonable and a good selection. When we went up to the carvery area we were met by the head chef, Jay, who was very knowledgeable and really knew his stuff! We shall be returning very soon!

I had early evening dinner at the townhouse with my son. I have been many times before. The carvery was good value and of a reasonable standard. I would like to praise the staff, they are very efficient and exceptionally polite, and address customers in an appropriate manner, unlike many establishments today, where staff take it upon themselves to refer to me as "guy or mate" .

Boxing day carvery: service was quite slow as they were a bit short staffed. Starters and desserts were nice. The meat was very nice, although the stuffing was too hard to eat and the potatoes were quite over cooked. We did have a nice time though.

I had the carvery on Monday 6th January 2025 the time was rather late so I was expecting a carvery to be amazing however it was very good stuffing better then toby carvery also roast potatoes better then toby as well I found the food very good even though it was last knocking and the fact I was given the choice to look at the carvery before hand was good service I declined to look. But the special touch was they came out with some fresh peas for me which I was not expecting I got this carvery for 6 pound but I pay the full price and actually pay 10 pound even though it was last knocking I was very full and satisfied. I look forward to returning at a more decent time for the carvery. Well done the team.

Food was top notch and fantastic value. Couldn’t be bothered to cook so thought we’d give it a go. Staff were lush but you do order at the bar or by QR code. Jay, the chef that served us was wonderful; super warm and friendly. But to reiterate, the food was absolutely lush! Moist turkey and crispy as hell roasties. Will defo be coming back.

Went to celebrate a family birthday. Excellent food and the staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and very warm and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend.

Came in for vreakfast this morning and hit the spot just right. Great service and even better sausages.

Ordered the two for £19.99 To be fair this is the only pizza myself my husband and our son have been able to stomach on the count that it's really not that greasy ! It was a little thin but that's besides the point totally worth the pounds and no aggressive heartburn to follow ! Thank you for a wonderful pizza.

On arrival I was quite upset because when we book our company Christmas dinner I was told we would have one table together and on arrival we had two separate tables. The manager on the day was the best and made all efforts to ensure we were together and changed the tables around to make us happy. I couldnt praise more. She was superb. Please ensure that this reaches the Restaurant and the manager in question, it's a blond lady, very competent and very very helpful.

Went for family Sunday dinner. Lots of choices if you don't want a carvery. Great for kids as child menu and colour sheet to keep them happy. Staff very lovely.

We stayed here for 2 nights as a family of 3. Excellent. Plenty of space in our room. Large bathroom with shower. We had breakfast 2 mornings and dinner 1 evening. Food was excellent. My partner has a few allergies and nothing was to much trouble to help her select food. Which she was extremely grateful for. We had a difficult situation that had nothing to do with the hotel. The manager went beyond requirement to assist us to rectify the situation. Amazing service. Thank you. We will definitely book again.

Cannot fault the service at The Town House. Greeted with friendly polite member of staff who showed us to our table. Followed by friendly and polite chief who served my partner and I our meat for our carvery. Definitely recommend The Town House and would come again.

Food was lovely as always, tried one of the new puddings was very nice! Mandy excellent service as always! Lewis served me my food and was very good, I asked for apple sauce and he went out of his way to do this for me. Brilliant

Place was next to empty, but Waited 5 mins to be seated on a pre booked table that wasn't ready. We were parked round a corner that had 2 broken lights so were in the dark trying to read menus, order and eat. Bar staff had ZERO clue what half the drinks on the menu were.... including brandy?! Food served was cheap and rubbish, nothing like the menu pictures or descriptions. Veg is taken from the carvery, which is brown, dry and probably kept warm for a number of hours. Fries are cheap oven chips. Burgers are cheap kebab version. They forget the orders. They don't clear the tables when finished. Kids menu dessert never appeared. Portions are ok if you're on a don't eat much diet. In all....rubbish and never returning

The pub was filthy. Food all over floor, dirty tables, stained curtains, water dripping from ceiling being caught in a bowl next to the table. Windows rotting, it was grim. But staff were friendly and trying their best and the food was fresh and tasty. Pub needs maintenance and a good clean.

So after the village inn messed up our order and deliveroo refunded me thought as I normally go to townhouse and is good will order one from there. Wish I hadn't bothered as when it came it had no mash potato, the sausage was well over done and hardly any beef in the meat considering it was a large carvery. Very poor evening from both the Stonehouse restaurants on this particular evening as have had carvery delivered before and has been very nice. Disappointed isn't the word.

Me and my boyfriend came in yesterday at half 5 for a carvery and we had a great time! It was his first ever carvery (shocking right!!) And this was the perfect place to bring him as it was my first time at the Townhouse for a carvery too The staff were absolutely brilliant, had a fresh clean table and got our drinks and food order at the bar as the app wasn't working but we didn't mind i prefer to be served in person anyway, thankyou to Mark on the bar for being amazing and super polite to us, made us feel welcome! The food was delicious, especially the spuds! Will deffo be back in the future ☺️

After a long day at work it’s always nice to come here and see the friendly faces of the staff. Marc and Matt always happy to chat and Charlie keeping the ship sailing smoothly. I was starving so I ordered a carvery which did not disappoint. Meat was good, always a good idea to get there at a decent time so it’s as fresh as possible. Lovely view, overall fantastic experience.

Always a good one at the Stonehouse. All the staff are mega friendly, especially the manager who is always ensuring everyone is comfortable and happy, running around with a smile on her face. Matt and Mark always happy for a chat. Perfect for an escape.

Came here with my friends to celebrate my new job on Tuesday and it was probably the best place we could have chosen. The staff were super friendly and even congratulated me as well. Food was good too and didn’t wait long even though it was quite busy. Would recommend for a meal as food is amazing and staff are very friendly.

Staff always know what my drink preference is. Even though I mix it up sometimes. Food always delivered quickly and takeaways are always in easily recycled packaging.

On arrival we were greeted warmly and friendly and advised to sit where we wanted. We sat in a booth and placed our order at the bar served by the same gentleman who greeted us. We both had a carvery which we upgraded to a larger plate. On reflection we both wish we hadn’t . We obviously went up to the carvery station and again we were greeted warmly by the chef/carver. My wife looked at the meat choice on offer and requested if they had any more beef as the piece left under the heat lamp was an end piece and was extremely small and dry. We were told sorry but we can’t put a further joint out until 6pm, obviously we accepted this and chose the other options which both looked equally as dry. We over looked this as we had driven from Lowestoft to try the carvery here as the restaurant is dedicated and advertised as a carvery and pizzeria restaurant! All I can say is we were disappointed with the meal we had. The meat was extremely dry, the sausages were overdone and split in half, the vegetables and potatoes had been left under the heat lamps for far too long and were dried out and needed replacement. We left half our meal and ordered a coffee each , the same gentleman who greeted us/ taken our order , delivered our coffees , he supplied a long dessert spoon for our coffee which still had remnants of what looked like someone’s ice cream/custard on it , and milk in an expresso cup apologising and advising they had no milk jugs left clean, my wife couldn’t poor the milk without spilling some on the table. We heard staff using very poor language in the kitchen which we took lightly as it was very quiet in the restaurant at the time and would probably not have been heard if restaurant noise had been busier. For a restaurant priding itself on its carvery being its main offering, I feel a review of procedures may be necessary, food change over times including length of time under heat lamps , equipment availability and cooking times. I don’t have any issues with staff friendliness , but the restaurant is tired and the food was unfortunately of a poor quality on our first and only visit we made and unfortunately will ever make.

The staff here are fantastic! They are the hardest working staff we’ve seen, running around to keep everyone happy as well as being super friendly. They should be very proud!

We popped in on Monday and were served by Mark, who was very helpful. We had the pizza wheels as a starter (a 'freebie' from my wallet on the app), and they were very good.

Sunday carvery...arrived mid afternoon.. was then getting dry. Too hot under lights.food dry. Gravys lovely .. Overall. Ok...but not great or fresh ..again.

We had a roast last night, not for the first time. All the staff are great especially mark and mat. Everything was delicious thanks

Manager Charlie/Charley absolutely rude and disrespectful, needs a course in customer service! Been coming here every week for over 2 years but will never return now!

Haven't been in ages as I had gone off the food and found the quality quite bad. However my sister went the other day with a friend and told me how nice it was so I thought I'd try again. I will happily come again if the standard of food/service remains. The roast potatoes were crispy and golden instead of soft soggy lumps, everything looked appetising and tasted good. Staff were all very friendly. Thanks

Popped in for lunch, ordered a chicken goujon sandwich, arrived with one peice of chicken! Tables were dirty and the outside/inside looks like it needs a total makeover ! Very disappointed

The service was ok. The female bar member was very helpful and we ordered pigs in blankets. For the carvery, but when we got to servery there wasn't any. So she refunded us for those. Also the selection of meats was very minimal. No turkey. Just dried up beef and burnt chicken breasts on offer. I have eaten here before. But the quality was not great this time. Greasy rock hard potatoes. Sorry to complain. But I just wanted to point this out. The staff no problems but the food was inedible basically. If you had swallowing or digestive problems it would be difficult. One thing that really annoyed me was that there was no salt or peppers on the tables. Had to ask the staff, who then had trouble finding any. But eventually did. By this time we had started our meals. I. Just hope that when I visit again it will have improved, otherwise I will be dining elsewhere.

Service is always out standing the gentleman called MATT is so helpful and polite a real credit to the company nothing is to much trouble I would love to see baked beans added to the burger meals the burgers are so juicy and delicious

A lovely building, gardens and view over the river. Staff member at the bar who welcomed us and took our order was incredibly helpful and friendly. The environment inside looked like it needed some tlc. Our table was sticky. The carvery was pretty awful. Despite it being just past 12 noon, the food looked and tasted dry and crispy. I also found a small grey hair in my food. I have long, brown hair. This was our first visit and to be honest not sure if we would come again.

Carvery was not good, hard vegetables, gravy like water. We sat inside overlooking the river , we looked down at the tables outside and there was a big rat running around. I told a member of staff at the bar , he said there’s nothing they can do as being close to the river . What rubbish ! There’s lots of eateries near rivers that don’t have rats running around outside. There was a family with little children who came and sat there outside on the table blissfully unaware there’s a rat been running around . Also I asked for a Camembert vegetarian carvery, I paid then they came over to the table to say they’d ran out, definitely won’t be returning .

Sadly our experience wasn't very good at all. Booked in for 7pm but struggled to find anybody to check us in! We picked our own table and eventually found somebody to take our order. Two carvery meals along with another adult meal and 2 child meals. We had to chase up the other meals after about half an hour despite being told 10 minutes! As for the carvery meals......only ham/gammon left! That was inedible because of how salty it was and the rest of the carvery deck was dried out and also inedible! I'm sure they advertise as serving until 9 or 10pm so how could they run out of food? Very disappointing anyhow and the other meals weren't much better when they finally arrived. . I've scored 3 stars only because of the lovely staff working at this place on the day we visited. They were all lovely and attentive but they can only work with the tools that they are supplied with by their managers! If I could rate my personal plate of food from the carvery then it would be one star or less! I should have been warned in advance that by booking a table for 7pm would mean only the scrapings would be left on the carvery deck! . Also.......under staffing was very apparent but those that were working deserve a medal for their hard work and dedication for probably minimum wage.

I love how kind the workers are, well mannered and happy to take your order. All staff are very helpful. The open windows give light into the restaurant which is a very nice touch and how there’s outside seating. The food is very cheap starting as little as £10 which is definitely affordable for families. I went to castle carvery the other day and the beef was chewy and dry. When I came here it wasn’t chewy and it was the perfect consistency and the potatoes are just something else 😍😍😍. I love me a good roast potato but these were amazing, will definitely come again. Chefs very welcoming and thoughtful. I like how in most places the staff will not check on you on how your foods going but at the stone house they do which is definitely my cherry on top. Very smart idea to put the self serve ice cream machine openly for customers and their kids to enjoy, a fan favourite of course😂. This has been mine and my family’s go to carvery flame for years and has never disappointed! I so so so so recommend this place because the amount of times other places has let me down compared to this is crazy. Long review but very honest. I can’t believe there’s people in the reviews doubting this place? Lovely summer place to go. 100% recommend the lime soda😍. Best drink there! Although the ice machine broke, it was still a great experience like always and that doesn’t hurt my review in any way. Thank you!

Went in at lunchtime today and sat outside. Arrived at about 1.30. Loads of spaces in their car park. Chose our food (not carvery or pizza) and went to the bar to order. The inside was not busy, only two or three tables in use and there were plenty of spare tables outside. I had to wait a very long time at the bar until anyone appeared and when finally someone did appear she said are you wanting to order food? Naturally I said yes as it happened to be lunchtime and a concerned look appeared on her face and she told me that the wait time for food was over an hour!! Where were all the staff on a bank holiday when perhaps people would like to eat out? What on earth would they do if the restaurant was actually busy! No explanation was given for what is a ridiculous wait time for an average restaurant undergoing massive renovations. Very disappointed that we would have to wait so long and so we promptly left and enjoyed a meal elsewhere! It's a shame because it's quite picturesque overlooking the river outside with the renovation work out of site.

We stayed in August travelling from Spain. the room was very clean and the all the staff were friendly.the full breakfast is incredible recommend to all .not far from there about 10 mins walking u can rent a electric boat with bishy Barney boats 20£ for an hour and u can see a bit of Norwich

Rooms were good but no air conditioning. Food was lovely. A number of choices and everyday specials 👌 were good value for money. My family loved the main meals and dessert serves. The outside of the place does not loom inviting but was pleasantly surprised once I was inside. I would love to visit again.
