Great place for good food and drinks.

A great wee place to grab a bite. Staff is lovely as always, food is great, atmosphere is great and it’s a quick waiting time. Would highly recommend as it’s overall an excellent restaurant.

It was awful. Once I mentioned that I don’t eat gluten, the staff insisted on spending 10 or 15 minutes reading legal disclaimers and showing me legal statements on an ipad and insisting I confirm I had read and understood it all. It was very much like being arrested. They kept insisting they needed to ‘protect their staff’. I have never been so embarrassed and frustrated. No other restaurant does this! Most just put a GF symbol next to the item on the menu and make a note when ordering to pass to the kitchen staff. It was a truly abysmal customer experience, which was completely unnecessary and definitely not required by law (as the staff kept wrongly claiming). No other restaraunts do this! Just put the potential allergens next to item on the printed menu, and send a note to the kitchen staff. That’s it! No need for pages and pages of verbal and written legal disclaimers!

Lovely visit I had at the Townhouse. Staff were welcoming with a smile, ordered from the set menu, the starters came out all fresh and such a good portion to start you off with. The mains came all fresh and was presented well, and as for the puddings, the were amazing! Such big portions for such a good price! Absolutely loved my visit here. Will be back again.

Very good food, good location, there was a group of us with varying dietary needs, all of which could be catered for from the varied menu, only problem was there was only one person behind the bar where both food and drinks were ordered, making the queues quite unnecessary long, so much easier to order drinks on the app,

Pizza and Carvery is excellent especially for the prize. Beautiful views too. Would check accessibility though beforehand as front and side entrance have steep steps and may need to enter via the very back.

Been here a few times and there is always a great atmosphere, staff always friendly and happy to help. Breakfast is beautiful so is the carvery’s. Absolutely beautiful scenery out the back with seating areas outside to look out onto the water. You won’t be disappointed.

Our food was delicious - the carvery was lovely! The cleanliness of the restaurant wasn’t great. It was very disappointing as a group who had paid £50 to book an area for 49 people to dine in, that we were 3 seats short. It took almost half an hour for this to be rectified leaving some of our party standing to wait. It was also disappointing to overhear staff talking about our group, and saying ‘what do you expect when you book a big table’ when one of our party had questioned where his order was. (If you can’t cater to the group, don’t accept the booking?) the wait wasn’t the issue here it was the overhearing the staff at the pizza oven moaning about it. The communication when booking the tables was good however your system needs to be better, we couldn’t pay the £50 fee online so had to make a special trip to do it in person when we are not local.

Max went above and beyond to help my family. Nothing was too much trouble- It made our dining experience so much better. He is a credit to your company!

Had a lovely family meal at the Townhouse this Sunday, food was great! And the service was incredible! Our server, a lovely young lady named Teigan really made this a wonderful outing. Her manners and enthusiasm are traits not to go unnoticed.

I came here on mother’s day, with my children and my own mother, who’s elderly. And the service was brilliant, my server Teghan, she was absolutely amazing!! She was so bubbly and caring and made sure we were very well looked after. She even carried my mother’s plate for her. What a delightful young lady, other young people should learn from her!!

I very much enjoyed my experience at the townhouse, lovely servers especially a very polite young lady with such a nice personality , unfortunately I can’t remember her name but I think it began with a T :)

Greeted at the door by Emily, seated us with a view outside, ordered pizzas, amazed me with how big they actually were. All freshly made, had to take some home as couldn’t finish it all! Emily made sure we enjoyed our meals and greeted us out the door with a smile. Definitely recommend this restaurant to everybody

We booked here last minute as we was in Norwich for a swim gala, the pictures looked good think they may of been 10year ago. When we arrived we found a dead rat in the car park/garden area. When we checked in the staff was friendly and helpful. We were in a family room No18. Our room was cold as the heating was off. There was a plug in heater in the room that we used. The hotel smelt musky and the hallway carpet looked dirty. We went down for dinner again staff were great just restaurant looked dull and dirty. This placed could be really great if it had some money spent on it. We didn’t complain as the staff would be unable to do anything about it. We did all sleep well after a busy day.

The staff here transcend expectations and turn what would be a great pub into an immaculate one, notable my server Clare treated me with upmost care and respect, it made my day

Had carvery delivery. Absolutely fantastic! The only thing I would say is I prefer my veg soft so I found the carrots and green beans a little hard for me. But that’s personal choice. The meal was absolutely amazing and tasted great. It was all hot. Turkey was perfect. Will definitely be using again and recommending.

Family came to visit and we came Tuesday at 5 table booked , it’s the worst carvery me and my sister in law had , we had the beef we had to leave it , we couldn’t cut it and so fatty , we thought carvery was including meat , not happy and never will come again

Table 18 ...It was awful from start to finish, the soiled and sticky carpets the tables too close together , being told we had only an hour ... this was Mothers day but nothing of this was mentioned when I booked. Glasses were not clean, husbands pizza had cheddar cheese not mozzarella he expected.. perhaps they had run out, but that was not mentioned, my daughters burger was of very poor quality frozen meat variety, and my beef carvery had so much grizzle it was not much better than dog food... sorry but our experience of the place and the food and drinks was so bad ... can you make it better ? Had to mark 1 star to be able to post review.

We booked the back room for our sons 9th birthday, he had 30 friends, and they obviously brought family members that stayed and also had food and drink. We had to pre-order the food for the children, somebody miscalculated on the pizza's and brought out an extra six that weren't on our order, the manageress that was on was actually quite rude to us and tried to make it our fault, which it clearly was not as we had to phone it through and we had a print out of the exact order we phoned through. Luckily the supervisor (Rebecca) saved the day, Rebecca also was the original person I spoke with to book the event, she was super helpful and saved the day, she should be made up to manageress, thanks

Upon entering we were told to find a table and use the app. We don’t have the app, anyhow, we got the app and ordered breakfast and paid extra for mushrooms. We ordered a breakfast bacon bap for the little grandson. Once we ordered we didn’t know what we had to do so had to find someone to find out how things worked. Apparently they bring the drinks but the breakfast is buffet style so we had to help ourselves which we did. We returned to the table and ate our breakfast while the Grandson picked from our plates while he waiting for his bap. By the time we finished our breakfasts his bap still hadn’t arrived but as he had had toast and a few beans we cancelled the bap and had a refund which was fine. We got home and have since realised that we never did get the mushrooms that we paid for. No idea how we were supposed to get them if they’re not out for self service. All in all it’s a shambles. Just forget the app and go back to waitresses doing the job properly rather than standing about with nothing to do.

Of three of us, having carvery, burger and a pizza. Neither of us was impressed at all. Cheddar cheese on the pizza (why not mozzarella as it's supposed to be). Carvery beef was so chewy half was left. Over cooked vegetables. Burger was something from school dinners. Table was booked for 1pm, but we were told they needed the table by 2pm! A one hour slot. Needless to say,we won't be back.

Food was awful and when complained was told that's just how it is and I should come a different time of the day. I won't be returning self-serve carvery potatoes were inedible as was most of vegetables. I don't like leaving negative reviews as we are all struggling but I didn't feel like the staff actually cared about their work or workplace. It's a shame has potential with training and better food standards

Always worth a visit just called in for a drink,very good value for money ,carvery looked smashing ,sit in or out ,summers day ideal to sit and watch the river .

We had the Carvery which was good. The meat was lovely, not dry at all. The Yorkshire puddings and stuffing were great, veg and roasties were good too. The pigs in blankets were burnt though. The dessert was nice, we had the sundae which was mostly cream, but still tasted nice. Very good value for money and the staff were nice. We would go back. Overall we would recommend.

Certainly was one of the better carverys in Norwich. Home made gravy, delicious roast potatoes very good price and very polite friendly service. Definitely will return.

Stopped here on Saturday evening after the footie as we were starving. I can cope with thread bare carpets, old decor and even poor lighting. But the whole place needs a deep clean. No one to greet you or show you to a table. Staff look as unkempt as their surroundings. Carvery vegetables looked dried up and like they'd been there all day. Service was unbelievably slow and chips were cold. I remember this place back in the day, bright, cheery and excellent for families at the weekend. Goodness knows how it's surviving in its current state. Windows and glass panels were smeary. Carpet looked like it hadn't been hoovered in weeks. Overflowing ashtrays on the verandah tables. And half the cutlery on the table was food-encrusted. Not blaming the staff. When it's this bad, it's down to the management.

After waiting with the kids while the rest of the adults got there carvery I went up to there being a long wait for the meat.... cauliflower....stuffing. by the time I managed to get a whole plate half of it had gone cold and the rest of my group had already finished there food. Staff didn't really say anything or tell us how long it would be just left everyone waiting.

i ordered the dirty philly burger and it was like a lucky dip, no hash brown or crispy onions but there was guacamole and salsa sauce? which wasn't advertised to be a part of the dish. to be honest 90% of the burger was nacho cheese sauce so most of the time you could only see the other ingredients, besides when you felt a bit of spice from the salsa. Overall the burger was pretty poor and for the price I would rather buy 8 McDonald's burgers. Now onto the MASSIVE portion size of wedges i paid extra for, honestly they tasted average but literally a hand full of them for a "Full Meal" is disappointing. I did order this through delivery so not sure how they're at location, I would recommend ordering anything else if you want a good amount of food and not random items added onto your meal

Had an awful experience here this evening unfortunately, came for a Carvery and the quality of the food & starters was borderline worrying and I wouldn't consider myself or the people with me fussy eaters which is telling! It was pretty dead and our starters took just over 40 minutes to arrive, we had mentioned this to one of the runners (she didn't seem too happy about us checking on our food) and after sharing our bad experience with someone else towards the end of our visit (he happened to be quite nice & apologetic in fairness) a while after the girl was clearly talking about us within hearing distance as she mentioned us wanting our starters checked on prior with a very snarky tone! We felt quite judged despite our complaints feeling valid, likely won't be returning.

I have previously found the Town house to be very good and suggested it for a family booking of 7. It was Saturday evening but was very quiet with few staff and no atmosphere. My party were very disappointed to find that NONE of the draft beers were working due to a problem with the gas. This forced them to drink the more expensive bottled beer which they would not normally have chosen. The fridge was not topped up either so the second round was not as cold as they would have liked. Five of us had a traditional carvery but were surprised the sausages were laid out before us but we weren't allowed one as we all would have included that in our traditional roasts at home. Maybe they should be kept at the back. Also the gravy seemed very watery this time despite being nice and thick on previous visits. Unfortunately, although the food was hot and reasonably priced, I think the overall experience this time left my party underwhelmed.

Though the restaurant looked very nice and the staff we're attentive and polite I felt very disappointed by the quality of the food on the carvery. Slow cooked roast beef, I'd expected to be nice and tender, melt in the mouth, was tough and chewy, little taste. The turkey was similarly without taste. Roast potatoes just tasted of burnt fat. Pigs in blankets we're pretty much burnt to a crisp. Most of the Veg had been sat keeping warm too long and had dried out and shrivelled. If this hadn't have been a meal for so many of us for a family birthday and not wanting to spoil things further for the celebrant I'd have actually complained about the quality of the food. However, there were a lot of us and we were paying/ordering separately and this caused a delay on us being able to eat together we were so hungry we just ate what we could. Some of us tried deserts, these were much better, though mostly ice cream based so assumed these were prepared fresh. This is not somewhere I'd rush back to unfortunately, as I did like the look of the place and must admit the Pizzas did look nice but the quality of what I had has meant I'd now avoid coming back.

I ordered some children’s meals from just eat, when they arrived the bag was opened and half my order missing. I rang the restaurant and spoke to a very helpful man called Joe, who told me he would ring just eat and try to fix this for me and get the remainder of my order sent out if possible. Within less than 5 minutes he had rang back and told me just eat had closed the order and wouldn’t fix the problem. This amazing man then told me he would get my children’s meals recooked hot and correct and deliver them himself, as the children need hot meals. And they was definitely hot this time. I really can’t rate the service this man has given for the company highly enough, this really is amazing customer service and has made a regular customer out of me just I will visit the restaurant now rather than order through just eat. From all my family thank you for fixing the problem and providing delicious meals for them all.

Pleasantly surprised we went for a last minute birthday meal for family friend, and how lucky we were to be greeted by Rebekka a warm friendly wlecome and she really made the visit. Outstanding service and went out of her way to make the birthday guest feel special with an amazing birthday desert , the whole experience was excellent the food is great value for money.. The venue is looking tired but the staff made the night thank you and you reallt nailed the customer experience.. outstanding care and professional.

Brilliant staff and vfm food. But venue is shabby, tatty and desperately needs an overhaul. Rotten window frames inside and out, blackened greasy carpets, tables and chairs worn out. Come on Stonehouse invest in your asset!

We didn’t have nowhere to go on Christmas day to have food and they accommodate us even though we had a small dog and they’re not dog friendly ❣️. The food was very nice and ruby (our sausage dog) loved it hahah xx thank you guys

Bigger and more toilets less steps bigger counter for food

Came for Christmas Dinner. Service was very slow at the bar. Not enough staff and ran out of all pinot grigio wine. The brie wedge starter was extremely small. Some of the carvery food had been left on too long. Frozen Yorkshire puddings were tough and chewy through being under the heat too long. Turkey was dry - a new one was brought out just after we had got ours. The cauliflower cheese tasted like it was in a standard bechemal sauce. Barely any cheese in it. There was no gravy and we had to wait for it to be topped up. Otherwise, everything else was just OK. Not as good as when we came for Christmas 2 years ago. Disappointing for over £50 per person.

Asked for a carvery calzone with no pork. Arrived very pink meat told it was turkey then there may be a bit of gammon in there. Told waiter gammon comes from a pig and I am allergic to pork. OMG he replied shall I take it out. No we want a new one.

Food was ok although I wasn't too keen on my starter - the tomato soup was rather lumpy even though it tasted ok so I couldn't finish it due to the texture. There was a bit of a wait in-between courses even though we'd pre-ordered. We visited for a work Christmas do so it was obviously busy. A lot of the staff seemed like they didn't want to be there and not too happy. We were told that the bar would be closing just after 10. The toilets were awful. The cubicles were far, far too small so it was a real struggle to close them open the door again. After previous experiences here then I wouldn't have gone again if I'd have had to pay for my own meal but as work we're paying then I went.

Love coming for breakfast here! But used to love it even more when they used to have chicken wings on offer for breakfast

Went for dinner and the carvery was what you’d expect for a late evening. I was more disappointed with the service I got from the young lad in the glasses who was carving the meat…. When he could be bothered too! After a few minutes of waiting I had to call round the counter not once but twice. Still did not bother to come serve me. I asked a waiter to politely tell them I’m waiting. The kitchen is very much open and I heard the waiter say “someone is waiting for carvery” to his reply “OH, WHAT A SHAME” still didn’t bother to come out… few moments later he comes out. I said to him “oh, what a shame” so he knew I just heard him say that… nothing, no apology for the poor attitude just said “what you got?” Give him my ticket. Before he scarpered I told him my mum was about to come up. “Ye, no worries” honestly couldn’t make it up! Piss poor attitude and TERRIBLE customer service. Once back at my table I was so annoyed I didn’t even want to eat my dinner so decided it’s best to take it home. I asked to talk to the manager who I’d like to say was lovely! Really apologetic and just genuinely nice. Sorry you’ve got to work with people who have no problems bringing the reputation of the business down like that. I come to the townhouse a few times in the summer and all the staff was friendly and polite… shame about him. Don’t get me wrong, I work in hospitality. I’m all for the banter and having a fun working environment and enjoying your time at work but that was not okay. If any of my customers heard me talk like about them I’d be so embarrassed. Not this guy “what you got” 🫠

I was disappointed in every way. I had a birthday voucher, which was rejected, even though I was certain the meal qualified. My partner had panko chips and felt completely ripped off at the measly portion for nearly £4. I had the carvery but it was all incredibly dried out under the heat lamps. The pigs in blankets were badly burnt and the meat was dry and tough. The waiter service was OK but the bar service was frustrating. Everything I was ordering it seemed, caused an issue at the till, including an item clearly on the drinks menu that she couldn't find on the till and was about to charge me a different price rather than find out why it wasn't found. The place was chilly and my food got cold quickly. It didn't feel festive enough either. EDIT: Wow, even the response from restaurant was disappointing and underwhelming!

Lovely welcome, very tasty food which was excellent value for money. We had the festive menu and all was delicious.

So what can I say about the townhouse it started off quite nice. Till I got woken up at 1am by a crying baby right next to my room I was staying at. I genuinely thought the rooms would be soundproof but apparently not. The constant trains going on the track aswell. Didn’t get to sleep till 4am missed breakfast due to not getting enough sleep. Then after a long day christmas shopping me and my partner then both got into the shower to then be startled by someone banging on our door then a fire alarm going off continuously while not even dressed. Having to quickly throw something on to then wait outside in freezing cold weather for about 30 minutes due to a supposed “gas leak” then after being allowed back into the hotel we got told food was unavailable all of the night even though we planned to have food there so we had to go somewhere else. I’m truly unhappy with my stay! This was meant to be a relaxing holiday but it’s been filled with disappointment and stress. I’d like a full refund because I’m not happy with my stay at all. If I could I’d get a refund

The staff were very friendly however the food was awful and took forever to come out so late we had to take desert as take away, shouldn't have bothered As they ended up in the bin. Don't bother eating here

Good carvery but service a little slow.

It's an odd place. Food is excellent value for money and the staff when we went were attentive and jolly. Although the building has lovely views over the river and broads, it's pretty soulless. You could be in a wimpy from the 1980's and there's no clue that you're in an old building. However, The sandwich was great and cheap at about £6with chips. No real ale when we visited.

Very long wait time for food, meals not brought out at the same time, 10 of us eating 3 people had finished before some more meals were brought out, 1 meal completely sent back was not edible

Never had any issues here, the staff are friendly and chatty. We come here regular. The breakfast is also nice and plenty to choose from. The carvery is good portions and lots of variety. Would definitely recommend.

Just stayed at The Inkeepers lodge and had a wonderful stay. Mandy and Ella were amazing at checking us in, hotel room was clean and smelled fresh. Breakfast in the morning was served by Louis and Beano and it was tasty and good quality for the price. Definitely recommend
