Great food and great service, definitely will be coming back! For starters I had salmon with the crumpet which was delicious and filling, totally worth the price, my partner had the prawn and shrimp cocktail which he also enjoyed. For mains I had the lamb, the only thing I would say is it would be nice to have more meat and less fat, I’m guessing it’s the cut of meat, but the fat was crispy and tasted good and the meat really was the standout as it was so soft , chips were delicious and I also had a mushroom sauce, which was rich and creamy. My partner had the iron flat steak which he very much enjoyed and nearly couldn’t finish, he had the peppercorn sauce which he said was very nice. Both had medium rare. For dessert we shared some ice cream which was a lovely end to the night. We also shared a bottle of 0.0% muscat which went well with our dinner. If you are a colder person request a table downstairs if possible or away from the main door, they do have a heater upstairs where we sat and we were comfortable but some people may need to sit downstairs. Will definitely be visiting again! Great service and great food!

We were a party of six. We booked for 6.30 on a Saturday night. The food was absolutely delicious and couldn’t be faulted. The reason for a three star review is that at 8.10 our server came over and told us we couldn’t order desserts as there wasn’t time as our table was booked for two hours. We had starters and mains and there didn’t seem to be any reason for us to hurry and the server didn’t seem in a rush to clear our table. We overstayed by 10mins to finish drinks and when we left there were empty tables and no further diners in sight. We spent £400 in total and were left very disappointed as would have all had desserts and coffee to finish. We won’t be back.

Food and atmosphere was very good, and we believe that the restaurant owner knows how to do business👍👍👍. Could you please train your staff to let them know at least how to show basic respect to customers🥰🥰🥰 One kind reminder for future customers: Ask very carefully about each sauce, side, and main dish, or something else that they did not mention, or they would “automatically” add items to your bill💸 💸 Online menu was inconsistent with paper menu. They expect customers to read all menu versions super carefully and expect every customer to donate even though they do not ask us at all. Staff service was so nice because I like people who do not smile to me throughout the whole time 👍 🥹🥹 钟果忍布片中过忍,片忍,骑士忍,sb参听💕💕

12 years ago we couldn't get into the Cambridge Chop House because we were told our children were too young, but it was proven to be a mix-up with a local concierge who wore an ill-fitting wig. I was sulking for many years and finally got over myself today (Graduation Day, as it happens) and paid a return visit, with our two teenagers, following a delightful tour of some colleges. It was very busy but somehow the lovely manager(ess) found us a table (thanks to some no-shows) and squeezed us in. She and her team kept an eye on us, without being overly-attentive and served up some fantastic food - including my 21 oz pork chop and a blueberry cheesecake. I can't remember which I ate first. It was all brilliant and we were allowed to sit there people-watching, as all the gowns and ermine passed by on the street. Well done CCH.....wonderful. I'll see you again in another 12 years' time.

I was a bit apprehensive as a vegetarian, but the cauliflower steak was delicious, as were the potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. My boyfriend had a steak. Why do you allow people to sing Oasis songs downstairs? We attended at 6.45, downstairs was a private party in a side room, who were very noisy and sang every now and then - happy birthday was fine, but Oasis? WTF? Staff apologised but should have told them to shut up or leave. The food is good - chips a bit cold - but cuts of meat excellent. Brought a bottle of wine from next door which was okay for £20 corkage. Didn’t stay for dessert or coffee. £130 was fine. Atmosphere? 0. People were not enjoying it and you let it go. Read my other reviews and I am gracious but this was crap and the staff/management let it go and apologised for it. I know the answer is that it was a one off - I hope it is? - but ruined our night. Not me to pick a fight with them. That was your job.

Steak was ok but for nearly £40 you get choice of some fries or a salad. Surely you could stretch to both or a mushroom or a tomato as well to make it more interesting and better value. Also the Affagato has the smallest scoop of vanilla ice cream that you could possibly get. It just felt mean!

We ordered off the set menu. I had the sausage with greens and mash potato . I think, from the look and taste of it , it had been heated up in a microwave ….. the gravy was thick and shiny, almost that you could have stood your fork up in it. My friend had fish cake, hollandaise sauce with chips and salad. It arrived with every component on the same plate , a very liquid sauce with lettuce and chips soggy! We pointed this out to the manager who then bought a small bowl of very ordinary salad and a separate container of chips. He was about to disappear leaving her plate with soggy mess in front of her. We suggested she needed a clean plate at which point he grabbed a side plate replaced the Soggy plateful with it, tipping the fish cake onto it. After a few minutes we had lost any appetite we had . Eventually another waiter came and asked if we had finished . We stated our disgust with the food and their action . The ‘manager’ , he who had dealt with the soggy plate ,appeared again. Having listened to our complaint he did offer, on the house , the cheese board and another glass of wine as recompense. Finally we were only charged the pice of one set menu. I have visited this Chop house numerous times over many years apart from the last 2 years. On each previous occasion it has always been excellent so it was extremely disappointing this time. Perhaps it has come under new management or new chef ? We will no be going there again.

Very expensive food which was average at best. Ok service. I choked on their pork crackling which seemed to be extremely dry rather than have any moisture which may have contributed to the frightening experience. While the staff were sympathetic, they reported that I was the third person who had choked on the dish in recent times! I would have at least expected an offer of a free drink after not being able to breathe but instead they charged a 12.5% charge without making it clear that it was optional. Never again.

We got a lovely warm welcome, even though we were slightly late and got seated by the window and Vito brought over a complementary glass of prosecco each as it was our wedding anniversary, a lovely touch. The food and service was outstanding, couldn't fault it and my wife loved Vito's cocktails while l enjoyed the OTT pale ale. Alexandra our server was amazing, as l forgot to ask when ordering to take out the tomatoes and onions from my burger if there was any due an allergy but when l did ask when the starters arrived, she also checked if we had any other allergies, even though we had already been asked, spot on! When she served the burger, she had made sure that the dressing, coleslaw and onion rings (as my wife had them) were served separately as the dressing had tomato in it and the coleslaw had raw onion in it, l hadn't asked for this, Alexandra took it upon herself to arrange my burger like this and thought this was amazing service. When we left, Vito, walked us to door and thanked us for custom wishing us lovely evening/anniversary and recommended a further bar to visit for cocktails. We would highly recommend this restaurant in Cambridge, a lovely find amongst the many other places in the city.

We were having dinner with our friends from the USA and knew they would appreciate the beautiful architectural view. We were told they would accommodate this, unless someone disabled came in and required a street level table (part of the restaurant is downstairs). Booked for a pre-theatre dinner. We arrived slightly early and were shown to our table. Small group wanting a light bite before the 7.30pm evening theatre performance. It was 20 minutes before our order was taken - all very straightforward. We opted for the two course menu, all mains and desserts. However time ticked on ...and on... and on. At 7pm we asked where our food was having seen other people arrive, eat and leave before we had even seen our food. Eventually the food was brought to the table at 7.10 leaving 10 minutes to eat. We had to pass on the desserts as there was no time left which was explained. The bill was requested but had to be re-calculated three times in order to reflect that we had not eaten dessert, nor were happy with the service charge. We were eventually able to pay and leave and made it to the theatre in time. Disappointing to what should have been a pleasant evening out with friends. On a plus side, the bill recalculation was carried out with no fuss or drama.

We booked a table at 4pm for Sunday Roast. We knew it might be a risk that they would sell out given they stop servicing roasts at 5pm but it worked with our schedule that day to come at this time. We were helpfully informed on arrival that there was only one portion of pork left which we quickly reserved but this was still disappointing as had both wanted the pork (they also sold out of the cauliflower steak too). But opted for beef for the other portion instead. Would have expected more than just 4 small thin slices of beef considering the pork had much more meat (as did the chicken from seeing other tables). The Yorkies were slightly overdone on the outside and did contain some undercooked dough in the middle. The apple sauce was disappointing — pureed version and wasnt quite premium/quality enough. However, the pork belly itself was outstanding with very crispy cracking. Roast potatoes were nice but not super crispy. All in all it was still a slightly above average/good roast with quality ingredients but would have chosen the chicken over the beef but the pork belly was definitely the winner and star attraction and bumped up the rating.

It was ok. I think for a place specialising in lumps of meat, that the lump of meat served to me should have been of a higher standard. It wasn’t cut properly and as such wasn’t cooked properly. It also wasn’t a great piece of meat. It was obviously aged, but perhaps not stored properly as generally it was flavoursome, but towards the edge was verging on rancid. On the plus side the staff were very good. Overall though the quality didn’t match the price tag and I was left feeling a little underwhelmed.

For somewhere called the Chop House, i expected meat to be good. Porknwas pretty good beef was disappointing andntiny portion of beef too. The food also arrived VERY quickly, never a good sign. The venue itself is lovely, just a shame about the conveyer belt feeling.

Another one of those occasional finds that deserve 6 stars. Food, drink, service, venue all absolutely superb. You'd be forgiven for thinking that it might be overpriced and tourist quality given its location, but it's nothing of the sort. We had Haggis fritters and pork crackling bites and they were superb. Then we had mains of steak, Burger, Mussels and Pie and Mash and all were absolutely perfect. I had the burger, and it was one of the best I've ever had. So well seasoned. Though they were busy, the staff were friendly and warm and had time for us. The wine list was excellent. The Cinsault with the burger was exceptional. We had cocktails as well. The Old Fashioned and the Elderflower Collins were fantastic. Can't fault the place.

Had a lovely time here celebrating dad's birthday. A lovely restaurant and the staff were amazing. Very friendly. From the outside it doesn't look like there is a lot of seating. However, there was plenty of seating on the lower level. Please bear this in mind for anyone booking with mobility issues. The food was amazing! 👍🏻

Perfect dinner place for celebrating a beautiful May day. Do not miss out on their set menu, available from Monday to Thursday, before 6:30pm. We went for the two-course set, with a cauliflower soup as the starter. Rich and delicious, great combination with their house bread. A little bit salty but overall it’s quality stuff. We then got the butler steak and the pan fried coley. I would particularly recommend the steak, which is very tender. Service is excellent too! Nice experience overall!

We absolutely loved it! Our office recently had an away day, and we chose to have lunch at The Cambridge Chop House. From start to finish, everything was fantastic. Natasha, who handled our booking, was incredibly accommodating, despite the numerous changes I had to make to the reservation time. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by all the staff. The menu offered a great selection—enough variety to satisfy everyone's tastes without overwhelming us. Out of curiosity, I decided to try the deep-fried haggis for my starter, my first time trying haggis. It was enjoyable, although I must admit it's not to everyone's taste. For my main course, I opted for the ribeye, which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. My Director was particularly impressed with his chateaubriand. As for dessert, I indulged in The Chop House Mess, a delightful pavlova topped with berry sorbet—truly refreshing! Those who ordered the brownies are still raving about how delicious they were on Monday. All in all, a unanimous five-star rating from our group of fifteen. Well done, The Cambridge Chop House!

Excellent menu choice with some unusual dishes- would recommend the Yorkshire pudding with short rib starter although it sure I could taste the horseradish! Also the main course ham hock was very good . Good service as well

Visited on a Saturday evening after spending the day in Cambridge. We were shown to our table downstairs and through a tunnel to what can only be decorated as a cave, we loved it. Our table of 6 and space for probably two smaller tables so we felt special and could make as much noise as we wanted! Christophe was our waiter, he was amazing. A real credit to the place! All food ordered was amazing, I would recommend the lamb chop and the pinot noir! Although pricey, it was very good value for money in our opinion. Was lovely to see a busy restaurant and everyone around enjoying themselves. We will definitely return when next in Cambridge.

Kids menu for sausage meal was one sausage. The lamb chop had only watercress with fries as extra. Overall it was disappointing.

Went as a party of 6 for Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. Wow! It was fantastic! My husband and I had the roast belly pork, elder son had a 2-meat roast, Moth-in-law had roast cauliflower, brother-in-law steak and ale pie and my younger son had a double child portion of fish fingers. All was so, so tasty, and clean plates returned. I think that my only gripe would be that gravy had already been applied; I do wish restaurants would offer the option of gravy on the side (I know I can ask but I forget that I need to!). As for the desserts...the winner had to be the apple and cinnamon Yorkshire pudding, served with ice cream. Wow wow wow....my son grudgingly gave a me a taste....inspired!!!! Crisp napkins, super, super service from the staff, lovely atmosphere and spotless loos! What is not to like.

Popular city centre restaurant with an interesting menu. We had the rather more restricted pre-theatre option, but that was served quickly and very adequate.

Got told the only option for the steak on the mixed grill was well done. Found that very bizarre. Staff were mostly lovely but the waitress downstairs said they don't serve food outside whilst the upstairs staff had no problem with us sitting outside. Very very strange place.

The burgers are average, the portions are not big, and the beer is delicious, especially the pumpkin beer.

Been to the Milton Arms a good few times with my wife and we have always had great service from Lee and the team. A huge thanks to Olek the chef for cooking our order exactly to our requests. Was perfect. The team always go above and beyond. Long may it continue. 👌👍🙌
