Got told the only option for the steak on the mixed grill was well done. Found that very bizarre. Staff were mostly lovely but the waitress downstairs said they don't serve food outside whilst the upstairs staff had no problem with us sitting outside. Very very strange place.

Nice venue - slow service even for drinks waited about 25 mins b4 drinks were brought to our table but was in good company so wasn't too bad. Fish n chips I've had many times b4 in a spoons but this was awful - I would say more a fish finger. Food took about 40 mins to arrive.

Can't really go wrong with Spoons. Drinks here are certainly not a cheap as other witherspoons I've been to around the country. But still a lot cheaper than a pub I reviewed earlier in Cambridge. Staff are pleasant, What I don't understand is you order a pitcher of cocktail, But you have to ask for a glass to drink it , do they think you will drink it straight from the jug 🤔. This has happened in other spoons we have been to. If we are in a town or city we always head for a spoons if its walking distance from were we are.

This is a below average Spoons, we only popped in for a drink (Vodka and Cokes), staff were absolutely fine, but the mixer was poor quality, very weak and no fizz. Didn't eat here so can't comment on food. Biggest issue was the place stunk of smoke, so wherever the smoking area is it needs to be moved or at least make sure doors are closed. Roll on banning smoking in pub gardens.

Considering how busy they are every evening, especially on weekends, the interior + facilities are surprisingly clean. Quick service from friendly bar staff, and good value food. The only let down is I was accidentally served alcoholic beverages twice, after ordering on the app. I noticed, and returned them to the bar, however could potentially be dangerous for those with allergies/drivers.

Visiting a mate at the Cambridge Uni, never been to Cambridge before but there's ALWAYS a 'Spoons. Proceeded to use the app to order my usual (pint and a burger meal deal) I placed the order but needed to use the loo, I informed one of the servers behind the bar that I'd placed an order for my table and if the pint and or food arrived and I wasn't there, I was in the loo. (At this time it wasn't busy and it never got any more busier than when I first entered.) Got back from the loo and the table had been filled (4 top), went to the bar to let them know someone had sat on my table and if I could change my table and have my food sent there from the kitchen. The barman that served me (who also happened to be the same one I informed I'd placed an order but was about to use the loo) was quite churlish and moody, he seemed to be OK serving guests he served before and after me, though. He had to be reminded that he needed to pour me a pint to go with my meal, almost gave me a pint that had been started and sat by the taps for a good 5 minutes and then the pint he DID bring had been sat on the bar since I'd placed the order, (10+ minutes?) surely it should have been a fresh pint? He was also quite indignant in asking to see a receipt for the order placed though I think this more from a personal than professional place. I placed my order via the app at 13:24 as of writing this review I'd waited almost an hour for my meal and no sign of it. I'm from Leeds, originally and I've been frequenting Wetherspoon pubs almost as long as I've been a chef, just about 30 years. This is without a doubt the WORST service I've ever had in a Wetherspoon's pub. And so to compound and finish off the UKs best review of a Spoons Iwent to the bar to request a refund for the burger I didn't receive after waiting for an hour to be told (by someone that's was obviously a supervisor and not management), that I couldn't/wouldn't receive a refund because the burger had been sent out and returned while I was waiting in a queue to tell the server behind that bar that I was no longer at my table. He begrudgingly agreed to send out a fresh burger, rather than my receiving the burger originally ordered over an hour ago, and then to add insult to injury the burger STILL went to the wrong table when it eventually came out. If I'd been a mystery/secret shopper, this would have been low marks across the board, and that's before we even get into the state of some of the cubicles in the toilets so early on the day on a Sunday. I should make it VERY clear, I have no qualms about 'Spoons or the food, it is what it is, 2 stars is a standard. But it truly is some of the worst service I've ever received in a pub and I've spent a good 12 of my 30 years as a chef working in Gastropubs in London.

Pretty bad service. The staff are outright rude. I had gone up to the counter to collect a doggy bag for my leftover food, they kept ignoring me and this went on until 5 minutes later when someone said okay and that they'll get me one. I went back to my table to find that the food and drink had been taken away and the table cleared, despite my handbah, phone and glasses being there on the table. The Regal is dependable; it’s there when you need it. The Google review doesn’t ask about that, so I figure I include it here so that you consider it when you want to find a place to: 1. Have decent warm food for a reasonable price; 2. Need a place to do work (thanks for the free wifi!); 3. Need to recover from jet lag after an international flight. It’s a place for families, so sometimes you’ll sit next to a crying baby… but that’s part of the spice of life. My experiences with the staff have always been top notch.

Another Cinema in Wetherspoons long portfolio of ex entertainment venues turned into pubs. The Regal is a big old venue retaining many of the original features and offering a comfortable space to enjoy your food and drinks. The beauty of Wetherspoons being that no matter what the venue, large or small, the same offerings can be found behind the bar. We were starting off our day in Cambridge and decided on breakfast at The Regal. Two traditional breakfasts were ordered, and the friendly young server took the order with a smile. Whether we’d be smiling when the food arrived was another question… The art of cooking a fried egg is a tricky one. I’m not sure many people request a fried egg that is charred to the point of solidity with a yolk harder than diamond. The Regal managed it though, with consummate ease. The rest of the food on offer was hot enough and nicely cooked. The bacon was a touch on the cold side but that was more than made up for by the hash browns that were hotter than a blast furnace. The baked beans had the usual blanket of skin on them, the residue of a damn good microwave mullering. The refillable coffee went down a storm and we were generally happy with the breakfast that we’d eaten. All in all, it was a nice enough start to the day. The food was good for the price, as ever, and it was time to move on to pastures new. Fed and watered/coffee’d.

Cool place. Great selection of craft beers and ales. Great steak, delicious. The fries are perfectly fried in oil, but not overcooked. Excellent burgers, I also really like fish and chips, a large portion of delicious cod or some other, but very tasty fish, with a thin layer of very tasty batter that you can actually eat and not remove from the fish, as happens in some other places. The fried king prawns deserve special praise, although it is not clear why, they were excluded from the menu, but you have to ask the bartenders, they periodically appear in the pub. Many thanks to the cooks, they are great fellows! And also to all the waiters, cleaners and the manager in the hall. He is a wonderful guy, this manager, he manages to everywhere - to plant clients, to help the waiters, and even to help the cleaners if they do not have time to clean quickly. At the same time, the pub is almost always full of people, so the guys and girls work very hard, but their work is real pleasure. We often go there to eat and drink good beer, and until now I have not tried even half of the offered beers. I do not write about strong alcoholic drinks, I did not order them. I ordered a glass of red wine once, but I didn't like it, the quality of the wine is too simple. It was in the spring, they just opened after the lockdown, hopefully the wine selection has improved now. The prices for food and drinks are very affordable, without burdening any wallet at all. I am very happy with this pub and would recommend it to everyone.

FOOD WAS HORRIBLE. Don’t take the risk, service extremely slow and food was inedible (I’m not picky with food) spoke to staff and in the end I just left as the manager never came out to address the situation. Such a horrible place.

Lovely staff and good service. Food is good for a quick bite. We went in between hen party activities. Sadly some of the patrons were harassing which but a downer on the atmosphere.

The Regal is a Wetherspoons, the McDonalds of English pubs. It does its thing really well. It's well run and the staff are friendly. And there's no canned music, no fruit machine noise, and although there are several TVs (it's a big place) the sound is turned off and they show the news with subtitles. Which is just great! I really like it. I wouldn't bring a first date here, but if you want coffee and a good cheap brunch and excellent wifi you really can't go wrong. There's even a little terrace out the back so you can sit in the sun on nice days. I've had business meetings here. It's probably the best place to sit and talk and think in town.

The burgers are average, the portions are not big, and the beer is delicious, especially the pumpkin beer.
