Great Food Just one illegal thing to mention to the owner Item on menu and receipt Donuts £1.50 It's plural meaning two or more donuts you are purchasing. I asked the waitress how many donuts do you get and to my shock she said one. I said that's not right as it doesn't state one donut implying a customer is buying one. It says Donuts. Out of curiosity I thought maybe the menus wrong, I purchased item anyway and even on the receipt it says Donuts £1.50 even though you only get one donut. Please for the manager, under both Trading Standards and The Trades Description Act, the item in question must be listed correctly as: One Donut £1.50. Then you're all legal and not misleading customers. Other than that the staff were nice polite and surprisingly the Vegetarian Burger is the best vegetarian burger I've ever tasted so hats off to the chef 😀

Went to Southend for the day. Went in Pebbles One when we arrived as we normally do when we go to Southend. Had a baguette and a drink. We were going to go in there before we left as we have always done before for a drink and we were going to have some chips today with our drinks but we were refused entry as we were not going to have a meal. Despite there being empty tables and the fact we were going to give them our custom they did not want it. I think this is absolutely disgusting service in the way we were treated. Used to think this was a nice place and had been done up really well but now we will have second thoughts about stepping foot in there again when we go to Southend.

Chose to have fish and chips here, as you do at the seaside lol. Friendly guy took us to our table with the sea views out on the terrace. My son was in his pram and we were given a table outside. Tables were a little sticky and chairs had dry bird poo on them but hey ho. We ordered fish and chips and a kids meal margarita pizza. The food was decent but portions were slightly small. We were still hungry after finishing the meals BUT it was still nice. Staff were young and the manager was nice, overlooking the staff and managing well. Toilets clean, preferred to use them than those outside!!! My son enjoyed his pizza and fruit shoot. Overall you get what you pay for. Decent prices. Not as bad as some of the comments I've read just now about them from my experience..

Went for a day trip to Southend, and as you do when at the seaside, you have to have fish and chips. We chose Pebbles purely because it was nearby. We are so glad that we found it. The food was tasty, fresh, and plenty of it, the cost reflected good value, and the service was friendly. The place was very clean, and when in the area, I will go there again.

2nd time here , didn’t leave a review a first time so thought I’d do it now, disappointed at the change of the magherita pizza, it lacked the pesto and basil that it had last time and lost all flavour, this time tasted like a frozen oven pizza. Hot dog with onions was mediocre, the onions weren’t cooked enough, like it’s not hard to fry up some onions properly. The chips were good that’s the only thing that I enjoyed. The halloumi fries were again average, small portion of it , even the dip was tiny and given the price I expected a lot better. Location and views were great, I had a nice waitress so can’t fault the service. Overall the food lets this place down, oh and the ice cream, I got a cone of soft whip, no sherbet so disappointing.

Awful customer service! Waitress that calls everyone "my lady" shouldn't be allowed near customer. Further more to the review left in July 2023. I just randomly stumbled across a private message one my Facebook by the waitress who served me that day. She is Lois Jade Mary Whinnet. Was very threatening message. I do hope she does no longer work there!! She should be scrubbing toilets somewhere instead.... stay well clear of that place.

i came here yesterday for a drink outside, as i got to the front a miserable man told us we wasn’t allowed to because it was closed but yet people was in there and outside, didn’t want to give an explanation then became rude, we then walked a few minutes down to a similar place along the beachfront who happily had us, won’t be going there again

Extremely sad to be treated how i was just now. Walked in for a drink, was welcomed to sit outside on the deck where other people were by one member of staff. Another young guy who was staff rushed up behind me and said to the waitress “manager said that its shut now” as i was walking to the deck. I said that people are there eating and he said “they were there before” and how “its gonna rain ” with a shrugging attitude and walking away. I said i literally just want a drink and he responded adding “I was suppose to get to you before you came in but I didn’t reach fast enough” and then again walking off / back turned “its nothing personal”. I left but 25-30minutes later the same people are sitting down still and all i wanted was just a drink. I never feel racially profiled ever In Southend or had that experience anywhere. 👎 sad experience would never go again or think of this place and tell people to stay clear it you have a ounce of melanin in them.

Terrible - save your money and avoid - terrible service- food ABSOLUTLY awful and over charged for the half eaten rubbish we were served. I’ve NEVER see my husband not eat a cooked breakfast before - this was a first. Rank, oily, cheap and an utter waste of money. Charged £30 for one breakfast (£10) , 2x toast and 2x sausage (if you can call them that) even my camera didn’t want to take a photo !

I visited here for what I hoped would be a nice lunch overlooking the beach and the pier. The view is great, but the rest is awful. I waited 15 minutes before I finally went inside to see if I could get a menu and was told by a member of staff that someone would be out in a minute. 10 minutes later I went back inside to see what was going on and was told that they were sorry and someone would be straight out, which they were. I ordered a beer, which was eventually plonked on the table, and looked at the menu and waited and waited but nobody came. There were only 2 other tables with customers on, so it was not busy. I finished my beer with still nobody to ask me for my order, so I left. To make matters worse, I stupidly the next morning, went back for breakfast, hoping that it was a poor day on their part, and plus the fact that the view is great. The same thing happened. I sat down and waited and waited, nobody came. I left after 20 minutes and said to the person behind the counter I'm leaving because I cannot get served. To which he said 'I know, I'm sorry'. Terrible service. Great location. Shame! https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g503790-d4715062-r853235680-Pebbles_one-Southend_on_Sea_Essex_England.html#

We happened on this restaurant by chance and spotted two tables outside on the verandah. The beach was heaving (hot Bank Holiday Monday) but there was a breeze on the porch and some welcome shade. We ordered food and the lady behind the counter was very helpful. We ordered fish and chips and scampi and a few other items and it all came quickly and was much bigger and better quality than we were honestly expecting. The staff levels were good and though we had a nut allergy and a gluten-free in the party, it was all catered for. £10 for fish and chips and £5 for a pint of lager is not bargain basement, but for one of the best views in Southend it was definitely worth it. We would seek out this place again as it was the best food we have had in Southend for the last 10 years. Seriously.

what a shock, but in a good way we have not been to southend in some fourteen years . the last time we were here we brought the kids , and from the station to the seafront it looked like it was on its last legs , like so many other seaside resorts, loads of shops shut down and in need of a make over and a bit of tlc, but have to say this visit things look on the up , its had a bit of a make over , most shops are open , made our way t the front for lunch . and into pebbles two. Warm welcome taken to a nice table outside in the sun overlooking the sea (but the sea was out does not come in till about four and after all these years still don't no why )any way lunch one cod (huge)and so fresh tasted like it had just been caught and chips ( large chunky ) and one quarter pounder with Emmerdale cheese . this was the sort of burger that is served in a trendy London establishment did not expect that, both dishes fantastic . washed down with ice cold morietie beer, great service throughout , would and will come back

I like this place esp the outside terrace and use it whenever I go Southend but NEVER AGAIN It just cannot cope with what appears to be more than 1 customer at a time!! People were waiting over an hour for food I enquired how long my order would be 20-30 mins I had already waited over 30 mins !! Their excuse its busy.( Yes but you are providing a service and have 'x' amount of tables ) and it is not my fault wasnt having a go at her either But if the food was going to take 45 mins or longer you should be told at the time of ordering. I joined the refund queue !! Quite annoyed as took my medication after 30 mins expecting my food.I then had to go and find somewhere I could sit and eat .Looking at the reviews this was a problem last year come to think of it when I went last month 7th April I just had drink and cake & people were complaining about the wait same answer we are busy

Luck was on my side as on my day off the sun shone ☀️ We had a lazy morning at home and drove over to the sea side, we arrived at Lunch so has a walk on the beach and then walked in for lunch. The food was really fresh, the premise immaculate and clean but the reason I chose to write was the service from a lovely lady. My Son has eaten all his lunch and I promised him and ice cream. We went to the counter and the lady, who's name I am unaware of but description would be petite, dark haired and very very bubbley, I think off memory she was from Albania she made a fuss of my Son, picking him up letting him pick his ice cream 🍦 and doing the whole making it feel special thing. Simple things often make the difference and Mason mentioned the lady in the car on the way home. Thank you 😊

The restaurant was clean and friendly staff except they don't let you charge your phone. Everyone had fish and chips that was enjoyed and I had a vegetarian meal that was cooked separately because some places cook everything in one fryer but I like that they separate the food here. Cold Saturday night but my 6yo still wanted an ice cream. Saw this -now called Beaches - and so thought me and my wife could have a hot drink as daughter had her Ice cream. They were obviously closing up but didn't dissuade us. Had a coffee, hot chocolate and ice cream for £7. All good. View is nice when by the window and place looks really new. Menu looked OK and no more expensive then some of the old fashioned fish and chip places so will give this a go for the next time. 3* only cause didn't really test them.

This cafe is just east of the pier in "City Beach "area. Prompt cheerful service with a good lunch menu and window seat with good view of beach and pier as the tide came in at 1pm. Chose Jalepeno Burger, it was good but the peppers were hot and I won't choose it next time, my wife and daughter said the scampi and the cheezy dog were good. Served on "posh rectangular white china plates" The tables and chairs are good quality but we were sitting next to the clearing up trolley which really needed a place away from customer tables. The atmosphere was sort of upmarket presentation in a beach café environment with the door permanently open and families wandering in and out and queuing to order at the bar. Good service , value and food - I would call again.

This place has undergone a refurb and name change to Beaches. Decor and views are lovely just a shame about some of the clientele. A group of 6 friends went to eat and see the fireworks on a Saturday night. Thankfully we had reserved a table as it was very busy and there were staff shortages that evening. A long queue to order the food which when it did arrive was very nice and not over priced. It's also fully licensed. Overall a good evening but it's just a shame that so many people just come to use the toilets or leave their rubbish on the tables. Owner was lovely and his staff were friendly and polite, but I think they're trying to capture too many target audiences. They are catering to the masses selling candy floss and chips and diners wanting an evening meal with alcoholic beverages. Shame really because the miss mash didn't gel and we found it quite loud and jarring. However we did enjoy ourselves and have a great view of the the fireworks.

I stopped off here just before midday for a quick breakfast bite and despite the howling rain could appreciate the location and view. In the summer it must be perfect, with balcony seating overlooking the beach. Being fully licensed it would be a great place to relax with a wine or beer, although drinks certainly aren't the cheapest! A wifi connection allows you to get other 'stuff' done at the same time. The two TV screens had Sky Sports News on during the morning. The breakfast items on the menu are only served up to 11.30am but are pretty good value for money. The sausage and egg muffin was £3.75 if I recall and filled a spot. The fish finger baguette was priced similar and again a decent snack; both very tasty and well cooked. Sauces were plentiful in sachets on the tables and were Heinz. After finding somewhere to sit you have to order at the counter. Although the food is brought to your table it would be nice to have orders taken at your seat too. However the staff were all very friendly and the place was spotlessly clean. Food arrived in good time although admittedly we were the only ones dining.I'd definitely return here, hopefully to sit outside next time! It's by no way the cheapest place on the seafront but for the clean relaxing atmosphere with the view it is worth it.

Went there today, very hot day, looking for a nice lunch i ordered the Cod and my gf ordered the "Deluxe" Chicken Burger. The Cod was flavourless and had a very mush wet frozen texture to it, the chips were not very nice either, again with no flavour.we are still trying to work out why the Chicken burger was a Deluxe... as far as we can make out one piece of wilted lettuce and half of one slice tomato on a floured bun does not make anything deluxe. DO NOT HAVE THE MILKSHAKES, its milk with chocolate sauce... at best its chocolate flavoured milk Cod was £7+ and the Chicken burger was £5+ all in all with drinks was just under £20 and was most defiantly not worth it! Try the Sands a bit further down looks far better!

This is a nice cafe on the main front by City Beach. Popped in for some tea after being at the beach. The place is clean and there are nice views of the estuary from inside and the terrace. The waitresses were all really friendly and prices reasonable. The only thing letting it down was the food. I left 4 stars as everything else was pleasant, it is just a shame these beach cafes often have friendlier service than you get in a fine dining restaurant, but they are often let down by poor quality food and only ever seem to sell burger or fish and chips. Mine and hubby's fish was chewy and chips were not great. Kids burgers didn't taste great either. On the plus side the doughnuts and icecreams are nice here.

Visited the Crooked billet in Leigh on Sea, Essex for Sunday lunch. Very disappointed especially at £20pp. The beef (2 slices) was dry and rubbery. The potatoes and Yorkshire puddings were obviously purchased frozen. The veg was hard, barely cooked. The only perfectly cooked item was the broccoli. Did complain to the server who apologised and offered a free dessert.

This is my favourite chippy in leigh on sea. I have been to quite a few chip shop in leigh but unfortunately there not as good as this one. I'm disabled & Have trouble getting around. When I turn up here the staff see me & They go out of there way to help me get in the shop by open the door & Thank they always have a smile on their faces & are always happy to see me. The food is fresh the chips ant fall of starch you can get small, medium, large chips where ever where else I have gone you can on get 2 sizes in chips. The fish they cook here I'd absolutely delicious it's really fresh & not got to much batter on it. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Which I have because as I said I have been to at least ten chippy's where I live & This grate little chippy is a real gem. Ps we Can spend all day with permanent smiles on our faces as we all have other problems going on in our lives outside of work. We all have a bad day and sometimes. I will always go here to get my chippy dinner as its the best one around here I have been too.
