We were here yesterday to celebrate a golden wedding anniversary. The Ploughshare is a well kept village pub with a pleasant outdoor patio area. The food is excellent value for money and well presented.

What a great find on a weekend trip to the area. We (including the dog) had such a warm welcome from staff and locals alike. Great menu choices for the evening and Sunday lunch, not huge but choice for everyone. All the food we choose was delicious and well presented. Also good local beer! We would love to have a pub like The Beeston Ploughshare as our local and we will look forward to visiting next time we are in the area. If you are looking for good reasonably priced food with a lovely welcome this is a place to visit.

Went on a Friday evening for a friend's birthday. Forgot to ring ahead to discuss my dietary requirements (vegan) so I had prepared myself for a bowl of chips or a basic salad. How wrong was I. There was an amazing vegan option on the main menu of a hazelnut roast. This wasn't your usual nut roast option, it was beautifully presented and had a wonderful crunch to the texture. I couldn't see any vegan desserts on the menu but our very attentive (and patient!) server spoke to the chef, Scooby, who came into the restaurant to discuss a dessert with me which he then made especially for me and my vegetarian friend. A wonderful pub with a homely, rustic atmosphere and welcoming, attentive staff. Can't wait to go back.

The weather was icy. Inside there were three log fires, two log burners and a 'pretend'. However, nothing pretentious about the welcome or the ambience. We knew what to expect of the menu since the chef has made the Ploughshare his new home having left his kitchen at Necton, where we were regular guests. We were not disappointed - the main courses were excellent as was the dessert, which was highly recommended by a very charming and efficient waitress. The Ploughshare has won a chef whom I label a 'master chef' in this sector of the restaurant market. I commend 'Scoobie' and the Ploughshare, to all who enjoy the best of pub food.

Just had an amazing meal at The Ploughshare at Beeston. We both had the roast beef, served with a selection of seasonal vegetables and a massive biggest Yorkshire pudding, that came with its own plate! It was freshly cooked, hot and very tasty (as you can see by our empty plates!) For dessert, hubby had apple crumble and custard and I had the best sticky toffee pudding I have ever tasted (and I have tried a few). The staff were so friendly and accommodating, from the Manager Steve, who introduced himself and his staff as we came in, Isobella our lovely, attentive waitress and Pauline the lovely lady who was volunteering there at the last minute as they were so busy. All in all a very enjoyable Sunday lunch and somewhere that we would definitely recommend. A thumbs up from us and we will be returning!

We were seated in the bar area and had plenty of space around us for him to feel comfortable. Food was delicious, I had roast beef and all the trimmings with a large Yorkshire on the side. The order was taken promptly and staff were attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Background music was not too loud. We stayed here for the last 3 nights of our October half term Motorhome trip. Lovely site, pleasant staff and felt happy with the Covid rules.Easy check in, great sized pitch and clean facilities. There aren’t any hedges/ barriers between pitches but that wasn’t an issue for us.Lots of children playing on bikes and scooters and it all felt safe, the only issue was that several times they left the toilets pretty grim!!Shower area was clean, loved the music in there but really need air fresheners as the toilets weren’t always fresh smelling!!Location is good, we didn’t even attempt to walk to Padstow as there had been a crazy amount of rain and the path was a mud bath. Would be fine in the summer, as would walking along the road in daylight, but we just drove the 5 minutes and parked at the Link Road car park. We live in the village and have regularly visited The Ploughshare since it thankfully re-opened earlier this year after several years of local campaigning and fundraising. The contrast with the semi-derelict building of less than a year ago is incredible and a tribute to the many local volunteers who contributed so much time and effort into its renovation. The new interior decoration and furnishings create a perfect atmosphere for a village pub. The bar is well-stocked with a range of Beeston Brewery and other ales and is already a destination for “real ale” enthusiasts! The food is freshly cooked using local produce wherever possible. Sometimes we have had a delay at busy times, but the food is well worth the wait! Neither we nor any of our friends have experienced a disappointing dish. The prices are the same or less than we were typically paying elsewhere locally before the pub re-opened. We have taken visiting family and friends there and all have been impressed. A coffee shop has also recently opened during the day – a valuable addition in a rural community where people can easily feel isolated. Of course not everything is always perfect. It takes time to “get things right” as a new Community Enterprise, and both the landlord and chef rely on volunteers to keep everything running smoothly. Hiccups in service will inevitably happen from time to time, as new staff gain experience, but this is what a “community pub” is all about! We are regularly asked for feedback about both food and drink. It is wonderful to see our village pub re-opened and thriving, many regular visitors from neighbouring villages, much better than another housing development, we will be drinking and dining there regularly and have no hesitation recommending it to others.

I was part of a group of 11 diners on Friday evening. The food was excellent and the service was quick and friendly. The staff are all new and need a chance to settle in. Its easy to negatively critisize a new venture. As a new community pub it is finding its feet and settling in very well. Better than the pub now being housing! I think it is a victim of its own success as is now very busy with a lot of repeat customers. I had brie wedges with a delicious cranberry sauce. I didn't need a lot as I had ordered a substantial main of BBQ smothered chicken breast with cheese bacon and BBQ sauce. Well cooked, with homemade onion rings, homemade coleslaw and skinny fries, delicious. My wife had sea bass, perfectly cooked and locally sourced from Cromer. Dessert was homemade salted caramel brownie with honeycomb ice cream which was recommended by a fellow diner. Large portion and absolutely delicious. My other fellow diners had various other dishes from the menu and all thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The bacon lasagna was particularly well received by my friend and there were clean plates all around. Great food at reasonable prices, the chef Mark works his socks off so well done. My partner, mother in law and I visited the ploughshare today and were extremely disappointed. As lovely as the staff were they didn’t seem to know what they were doing, it all seemed a bit of a mess. (We didn’t think too much of this as it’s still a new pub we understand that). We had booked for some food. 2 of us had Brie wedges, which very small portions sliding about on the plate. My partner had Stilton & garlic mushrooms which looked lovely, very generous portion compared to the Brie but unfortunately the mushrooms were raw, we however decided to overlook this until we found mushed up parchment paper mixed in with the Stilton sauce. (We did complain & they gave us his starter for free). They were very apologetic. We then got to the mains which were all very bland in flavour. Fish and chips, Lamb roast then a mushroom and courgette pasta.. once again the mushrooms weren’t cooked properly, again I could have overlooked this but the courgette was also hard & the outta skin was so hard it made it very hard to chew & enjoy. I felt embarrassed to have to complain once again but wasn’t able to eat it. Very apologetic again, but was slightly baffled when they returned and the chef said ‘that’s how we serve it’ and that he wasn’t able to cook it through any further so I would have to pick something else on the menu (by this point we all just wanted to leave). I decided to have the lamb roast, the Yorkshire pudding was very over cooked on both roasts & my lamb had very noticeable arteries & veins on show (I appreciate this happens but was shocked it was so visible and still served). At the end of our visit we came to pay, 3 of them round the till with it beeping away they didn’t seem to know how to change the paper for us to have a receipt. We were very disappointed to have paid £61 for a meal none of us enjoyed & it’s extremely unlikely we will return. As previously stated the staff were LOVELY but extra training is defiantly needed & I’m not sure as to the skills of the chef.

We stayed to eat as we thought we would give the new people a chance and were served a curry that I can only describe as supermarket frozen aisle quality. I am livid that Nathan hasn't had the decency to let customers know that he has left the building so to speak, had we known this we would never have turned up for our meal or wasted our money. The pub is a nice cosy country pub with friendly staff and we were shown through to the restaurant, there is a great selection on the menu, various steaks, burgers, chicken and fish and the service was swift, we soon had our meals.( must say the butterfly king prawn starter is fanchuffintastic). The staff kept checking everything was ok and a good night was had by all. The hangover today was not good. We all highly recommend a visit and support this village pub. The only negative on the night was that a few dishes had ran out so had to change our order a couple of times, but Nathan came out and apologised for this and had a chat which was a nice touch! Lily provided us with great waitress service and Ben the bar man poured great drinks throughout the evening! Thanks gang! Real pleasure to be looked after by you all! Our thanks to Michael M and friends for also making us welcome!

A pub that has seen many owners over the years as I grew up and moved away. At times well renowned for it's food and remoteness in beautiful rural Beeston. To visit it by a chain of coincidences Saturday night made my week of moving back into the area. The bar and pool room are clean and traditionally furnished and I could almost remember the karaoke from when I was 16 and allowed in!The bar staff were very pleasant, we ordered soft drinks so couldn't comment on the ales. I shall send my Dad for his opinion on that. The real joy for the evening was to be served by Nathan in the comforts of his restaurant. With his inside/outside combo kitchen. It is a wood fired grill I believe outside and with the weather being so hot it was well placed. EVERYTHING we ordered -arrived so hot I could only look to decide what I would taste first.-was plentiful-cooked to my reasonably high expectations of perfect-cooked to order, being accompanied by a child and a Ghanian this is very important. Mealtimes can be tricky in my house!-Presented to a very high standard.I can honestly apply that to all our meals. To compare it to some nearby pubs serving food I can hardly wait to recommend it to my parents as soon as they get home from holiday. I think everyone local and further afield must give Nathan and Anna a visit if only to be inquisitive of what's happening now at the Plough. IT'S EVEN SIGNPOSTED AND 2 MILES FROM A47 (Beeston that is, anyone can point you to the only pub in the village). Please support the younger generation who want to live and work locally, they also source produce within miles of the pub , making the world a better place.

Really good food and good service. We had the steak combo and lamb shanks and both were really tasty and well cooked. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and the pub

Food with a different twist and good overall but quite a wait - timing needs sorting. Atmosphere nice. Carpet in the bar has seen better days! Not particularly cheap but overall not bad value we felt. Watch out for the real ale it was pretty poor when we visited and this was also the case when we called in for a drink only at an earlier date to check on the restaurant before we booked. Wine was good and fairly priced. Staff friendly. Worth a visit but some attention needed in some areas.

Nathan Dlayedwa and his wife have recently taken over the restaurant and they are doing a very good job. Food was excellent and staff friendly. Unfortunately we did have to wait quite a while for our food but this is down to working out how many staff they need and employing them. Do pay them a visit - be patient and enjoy a great meal. I'm sure they will soon have their full quota of staff. All food was freshly cooked - we live in the south and are used to paying a lot more for food of this quality. Good luck Nathan - your tiger prawns and steaks are delicious.

Had a smashing meal at Nathans at the Ploughshare Beeston last night. Good food with a little South African spice, polite attentive staff and locally, half a mile up the road, brewed beer. Well done Nathan and your team, you deserve to succeed. So nice for sleepy old Norfolk to have somewhere different. Now you locals get out there and support this venture.

Nathan has taken on the restaurant at the Ploughshare since early 2014. He produces fantastic food with a South African influence. His Wednesday barbecues are terrific and good value. He just needs to speed up the delivery a bit.

A play on words! Despite the overlong wait for the food when it did arrive it proved to be worth it.The chicken skewers were superb. A great sauce with a nice amount of heat and delicious roast root vegetables. Others really enjoyed the salmon and the lamb chops. Again well presented variety of green vegetables to accompany. Also the wonderful 'Worth the Wait' bitter brewed in the village. Well done to the new young chef.
