Elveden Inn in Breckland

Fantastic pub! The food was delicious. We were served quickly. The staff were friendly and attentive. Good menu choices. Close to Go Ape/High Lodge. Would return!!

We recently stayed at this bed and breakfast for two nights, and while the overall experience was wonderful, there was one incident that left us feeling disappointed. Elveden Inn itself is beautiful and well-maintained, and our room was lovely. We were especially impressed by the quality of the food and the general ambiance of the place, which made our stay very enjoyable. The coffee and latte art was amazing! Unfortunately, we did experience an issue with a lost key card. When we realised the card was missing, a kind staff member let us back into our room to check, and when we couldn’t find it there, we retraced our steps to a nearby spa, hoping it might have been turned in. After returning to reception, the staff brought out who I assume was a manager. We were met with what felt like a curt and dismissive attitude. Instead of a simple explanation of the replacement policy, we were spoken to in a way that felt belittling, as if we were being reprimanded rather than helped. Phrases like “Just don’t lose ANYMORE” and “This is the last one” made us feel as though we were being unfairly judged, especially since this was a first and honest mistake. It seemed to us that we were spoken to this way because we are a younger couple, which left us feeling uncomfortable. To their credit, another staff member was very understanding upon checkout and graciously removed the charge for the key card replacement. Overall, while we enjoyed the room and amenities, this interaction with the manager did impact our impression of the place. We hope the feedback helps ensure all guests feel valued and respected, regardless of age.

Often stop here while charging for a pit walked in at 7.30am to get a takeaway coffee after checking website which details they open 7. Before I even had a chance to speak was told that they were not open. No offering of when they open after travelling 3 hours we were just after a warm drink not impressed

A superb all round experience, great food, excellent staff & in general couldn't fault the place. Will definitely be recomending here to others.

Just back from a really lovely three-night stay. Staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful, as was the food including the breakfast options each morning. Room (No. 2 Barn Owl) was lovely too, with a very comfy bed. £25 each night (£75 in total) for a dog was steep. The sink was train toilet-size tiny and overhung by a shelf which made having a wash tricky. And would have been good to know about the band on the Friday night when we arrived tired after a long journey, which carried through the floor. But overall, a very relaxing stay in a comfy pub in a lovely setting.

Lovely hotel and restaurant. Have always wanted to visit for a while. Heard many a good thing said about this place. All true, apart from the bed I slept on. Was a little uncomfortable in the kelp room. Otherwise was perfect

Popped in for an end of week drink tonight. We live locally and have always loved the venue despite that being quite large it's never had the friendly feel of your average local. Our experience today was that we found an empty table we liked but inside of 5 minutes were asked to vacate as someone had just ordered food and requested that table. Now, there was no reserved sign on the table and the gentleman who eventually sat there just ordered chips and a couple of snacks for his 2 kids and himself. In the meantime, we'd moved to the next table which turned out to be noisy due to a barmaid clattering around with glasses, the coffee maker etc. Our fault in a way as we were too polite and accommodating and we kicked ourselves as the order to move as just out of order. Also, 1 alcohol guinness, 1 medium wine and 2 bags of crisps was £18.45 WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING ANYTIME SOON.

We made an impromptu stop on the way from an overseas trip. The Elveden Inn is our ‘go to’ place to have our ‘welcome home’ meal. We are never disappointed with the standard of food or the service. Wendy is always such a joy and makes us so welcome as are all the staff members. This rating is also given for the exceptional standard of the restrooms. Thank you to all and hope to see you again soon.

Had a late lunch at elveden inn and the food and service was excellent, well done to the waiting and kitchen staff.

Lovely place for a meal and reasonable prices. Would visit more regularly if lived locally.

Popped in to the inn for Sunday Dinner. The roast beef was amazing. So many included sides (greens, sweet potato, yellow potatoes and pickled red cabbage/onion). The grilled gammon was pretty good. Amazing Gin choices and beers on tap. Only downside was the Chips seemed to be fried in the same oil as the fish. Pop in if you get a chance or are wanting somewhere new to try.

An overnight stay. Pre booked for the Sunday roast (had the beef) which was very good and though it could have been hotter the quality and flavours still made it an enjoyable meal. The full English breakfast was the best I've ever had...just awesome. And the produce/meat sourced locally/elveden farm. Stayed in the Barn Owl room which was very nice, clean and comfortable. Staff were very nice and friendly. Overall experience good enough to book again for next year.

Had to ask twice to pay my bill and then accused of having 8 coffees Not apologetic even when we showed a receipt for drinks

Restaurant was lovely and really friendly staff but incredibly disappointed that the diary free Sunday lunch option just meant they removed some of the meal (no yorkshire pudding or stuffing) rather than offering a dairy free alternative. So really I paid full price for 3/4 of a meal. Thats not really a dairy free option!

Good service delicious food and very nice spacious family room. The full english breakfast was amazing. A very clean tidy place. I had to get up fairly early to take my dog out and met two lovely cleaning ladies. So friendly and fussed over my dog which she really enjoyed. Beautiful grounds to walk about and explore plenty nature. Loads of car parking spaces.

Lovely rooms. Amazing food. Aranchini starter was to die for. The manager even gave us a special treat for our anniversary which was a lovely touch. Thank you. If we are around that area again we will defiantly return.

After being ripped off a few times in Norfolk this weekend at establishments, our trip to this pub/restaurant was so refreshing. What lovely welcoming staff, amazing menu and clean play area and toilets. We arrived this bank holiday Monday with no booking pre arranged and it wasn't a problem at all to find a table or be served, even though they were busy. Absolutely delicious halloumi burger! We will be returning!

Such a romantic meal!❤️ The beautiful setting 🌲, the lovely staff 👩🏼‍🍳 who looked after me exceptionally well, and the delightful food🍜. Everything was perfection. (It helped that my date was wonderful 😉😍)

Restaurant: our pub lunches were fine in themselves, but I wish they wouldn't add a service charge. Always happy to tip, but if they need to increase the food prices to pay the staff more,I would rather they did this as it's more transparent!

My daughter's wanted to buy me breakfast as a birthday treat. We rang restaurant to make sure they were still serving. Can honestly say we had a warm welcome, ordered and what seemed like a few minutes food arrived. Breakfast was excellent. Thank you so much Elvedon Inn for making our day....

Standards have slipped, poor and over priced wine list. Service is sloppy and food has only ever been mediocre

We highly recommend the Elveden Inn. The staff were so welcoming and really lovely, from the minute we stepped into the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and good size potions. The food was priced really fairly and you certainly got what you paid for. The setting is stunning and whole restaurant and bar area’s were a pleasure to be in. We were served really quickly and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. We were not rushed at all and made to feel very welcome by all staff. Definitely will be visiting again soon and will be recommending to our friends. Thank you for making our evening such a pleasurable one.

Superb family lunch at Elveden Inn. Lovely table, excellent food and looked after by the wonderful Wendy who made us feel so welcome.

First off all, there's plenty of parking. Secondly, they are very dog friendly. Thirdly, the breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Quality ingredients, cooked to perfection and served hot. I'm staying for lunch and I will update this review accordingly.

Always a great atmosphere and friendly staff plus great food

Charging for our electric car was swift and easy to use. And the food was delicious (especially the thick cut chips) and service efficient and friendly so that we were fed and on our way in the time it took to fully charge. Brilliant

Good posh pub with decent beer selection

I'd didn't have a room there just had a meal. So can't speak to the rooms. The meal we have was bland and oily mess. I had fish and chips and the fish was bland and the batter was awful. My wife's meal she had the veg curry and it was just ok in her words. For the price of it all they are ripping people off. I've had better at a hungry horse. Triple cooked doesn't mean pork scratching level hard and crunchy.

After weekend away called in on way home very enjoyable meal with drinks but a tadd pricey

We were looking forward to lunch at this venue based on reviews and their website. However our experience was very disappointing. It was extremely over priced for poor service, average food and meagre portions. They were often walking around shouting out orders and they couldn't seem to remember what people had ordered and food was often taken back as mistakes were made. I asked for a mains size caesar salad and it was literally tiny, when I questioned if they had given me a starter size they were adamant it was correct. As a guide for four adults and a child with no alcoholic drinks it cost £120 for one course each.

Very pleasant service. The food was tasty and we didn’t have to wait long. The inn has a lovely garden too with a lovely wooden children’s play area. It was the perfect stop on our way to our Norfolk holiday.

Lovely lunchtime battered haddock, smashed peas and chunky chips. Side order of onion rings...superb

Excellent place to stay and eat. Menu limited though , couldn't find a starter only 4 or 5 options and some odd dishes . Main course was excellent and it is good food

Has great food..but I felt they could have been a bigger portion in the meal for the price.. all round a bit expensive..

One of the worst dinner experiences in a long time. Upon arrival scatty staff had no real grasp of drinks availability or knowledge of menu. The food was basic, poorly presented and WAY over priced. This experience reminded me of visiting Little Chef in the 80’s but with 2029 prices.

This is our local & very conveniently located. We love the decor here, the food is always locally sourced, new menus changing with seasonal ingredients & a great range of drinks available. Comfortable and a nice atmosphere. We have found some staff more welcoming & accommodating than others recently which is such a shame. We used to visit often & very regularly but have been trying to find other places as well due to this. Leon is an absolute credit to The Elveden Inn, he is friendly, welcoming & makes the place / visits fantastic! We wish every staff member was as good and then this would be a five star review from us. It has been let down by staff that have come across unwelcoming and rude. There’s a strange cross over as well with the menus - where they only offer egg, sausage or bacon rolls, which isn’t suitable for everyone & when asking for toast this was an outright no. A real shame the small things like this let the place down.

Bar on a Sunday-great location in a sunny day with friendly staff and excellent wine and the best Guinness..or two, that I have ever had thanks!

What can I say without being offensive, it was blood y awful, food expensive for what you get, 6 of us and not one was satisfied, very noisy there was a large party playing games but the room they were in was not shut of so we could not hold a conversation as it was all going on next to our table. They offered to move us when we had finished our meal but it was all a bit to late, I have been before but this time it has gone down hill and will not be going again and our friends said the same. Very bad value for the food served.

We came here for a meal with my whole family when we visited Center Parcs a couple of weeks ago. There was allot of us so I think they may have found it a bit hectic. The food was lovely though. Thank you.

Very Pleasant meal, the beer is the most reasonably priced I've seen for a long time. £4.40 and £4.60 a pint!!

Great place for a spot of lunch. The only concern was the cost of the alcohol free beers. A small bottle was over 4 pounds. Bit steep considering it was zero percent

Was a bit reluctant to come again, as we had a meal here about 5 years ago which was just ..ok. Well, stopped off for some lunch last Saturday and it was great! Service was really good, all staff very friendly and helpful. Food was really good (I had fish and chips), good sized portions. Cant comment on the rooms as we just stopped for lunch, but the rest of the place has a nice homely feel about it with lots of windows overlooking the garden at the back. Very happy we gave it another try after so long and will definitely be back again.

Fantastic service, great dishes

Below par Sunday Roast dinner. The venue itself is really nice, it's just the food that let them down. Limited starter and dessert choices. The 10% "discretionary" service charge is, as they say, the icing on the cake.

Lovely dog friendly place for lunch.

Popped in for business lunch and had a 'Ruben' sandwich and coffee. Coffee was fine, the sandwich needs some work. "Reuben" sandwiches should be a celebration of Sourdough bread, chunks of pastrami, layers of corned beef, a Marie rose sauce, some sauerkraut and at least two swiss cheese slices. I was served, at most, two slices of thin pastrami, no corned beef, huge spoonfuls of sauerkraut, a cheese and a sauce - I think. Please, please, please rebalance the sandwich as it essentially was just a sauerkraut sandwich with a slice of cheese and a hint of meat. Oh, and at £11 each it really does need improvement.

Can not rate this place higher. Absolutely wonderful stay, excellent value, and price for Double King room with sofa and ensuite bathroom. Excellent WiFi. Fantastic shower and bed making my stay even more comfortable. Dinner was really good and stay are so welcoming and friendly. Incredible breakfast included.All round was a excellent stay and will be staying again.

Visited today for Sunday lunch with family and the experience was brilliant, from the greeting, being seated then the service,food and atmosphere was second to none. The staff very professional and pleasant, nothing too much trouble and the food was superb Although the first visit will certainly not be the last

I popped in for a quick sandwich on my trip along the A11. I can honestly say the Ruben sandwich I ordered was one of the very best I have ever eaten. I will return!

Very disappointed, you used to provide a good Sunday lunch. Limited Veg selection and quality compared with local competitors, small portions and not great value with sneaky 10 % service charge !

Nice location, food average but Staff very unfriendly. Table was booked but when ordering we were told to hurry as the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes! Shame as now we won't be returning.

Birthday Party went great! We booked the meeting room for dinner and stayed overnight. All went very well, better than expected. The place was clean, nicely decorated, friendly atmosphere and staff, good food, and good communication. Bedrooms were clean and good with all you needed. Dinner was bang on time, good food hot and tasty. Excellent value for money overall. It was the right choice for us, smart and not too posh nor downmarket, just a well put together package delivered properly even though they were very busy.

I don’t usually write reviews but this really needed one. We came out for my husbands 30th birthday meal from Center parcs as we wanted something abit more tasteful for dinner. Some staff were fine, one particular member of staff was incredibly rude to a family sitting near us. There was just tbem and us in the inside back area as it was 5pm so quite early. They had a little girl who wanted to come and play with our little boy. She was dancing a little and causing no harm or stress to the area. A waitress came to seat a couple in the corner where she immediately gave the little girl a dirty look and sighed loudly at her. This little girl looked about 4/5. She then told the parents that she needs the girl sit down and in a very abrupt voice. Just made the whole atmosphere very unwelcoming from the get go. I wish I had left at that point because I didn’t feel comfortable with my son there at all. They treated the pub like it was such Michelin star restaurant, even the food was average. Wouldn’t return.

A beautiful place I love the inside. A lovely homey feeling and great atmosphere. We both had The Elevden Burger with fries. One with crispy bacon and mine was with blue cheese. Amazing quality, the beef was so tender and fresh. 100% would recommend! 🍔

Spotted the road sign on the A11 decided to call in for lunch, really glad we did. Had scampi and chips, really well cooked and presented. Servers were polite, smart, helpful and friendly. Lovely pint of real ale too!

Food, cleanliness, drinks excellent as usual. Want to express our thanks particularly to the table waiting staff this morning for our 11am breakfast booking, both for our initial greeting, service . One of our two dogs is anxious - he was a little unsettled and reactive — the young lady who was tending to our table was very good in her manner around him and had the forethought to let us know that a nearby party of guests with a dog would be arriving shortly. We appreciated her anticipation and it helped us conduct the remainder of our visit calmly for all concerned. Unfortunately we didn’t get her name but please pass on our appreciation. She also offered excellent customer service when it was realised that there wasn’t a vegetarian alternative for the pancakes as detailed on the menu that our daughter had ordered. Many thanks

Don’t have the roasted salad main dish. Red cabbage, carrots and chickpeas. Almost uneatable. Mostly raw and coarsely chopped cabbage drenched in a pungent and overbearing dressing. £13 for a meal of Christmas leftover vegetables which probably cost 20p for the ingredients and nothing to put on a plate.

Limited menu, quite expensive for quality/volume. 10% service charge added to bill for 6 of us. When asked if this could be removed was told ‘no’ as had already printed bill!! Is this even legal to refuse?

The inn is beautiful, very nice friendly staff. However the meals were disappointing, the Pearl Barley salad was just pearl barley with uncooked broccoli, it looked bland and uninviting and it was. The Halloumi Burger looked okay, but the cheese was so salty it was inedible. The pigeon and venison meal was very good. The choices for vegetarians was disappointing, the chef obviously is not interested in providing tasty meals for people who don’t eat meat. A big thing which was annoying, there are no prices on the menus, why? The desserts were good. Overall I would not recommend the Elveden Inn to anyone, our bill was over £100.

Although the service was quite good I felt this was trying to be something it wasn’t quite. I had pigeon which was nice but a very tiny portion and then venison which just tasted very over cooked. And was served with tiny portion of (nice) vegetables Friendly place though

Amazing staff, beautiful location. Stylish Interior. Dog allowed in bar area. Sunday roast and allergies catered for. Can't recommend enough ! Thank you all for a lovely lunch will definitely be back and for a longer stay. 100% recommended

My wife and I dropped in for lunch without having booked and were told that we could sit where we liked in the bar and someone would come to take our order. 15-20 mins later and no one came to our table so we decided to order at the bar. We ordered roast cod and a venison dish. A couple of waitresses subsequently appeared while we were waiting for our food and asked us if we wanted to order… Unfortunately, the cod was off, smelling quite strongly of ammonia so we sent it back. Why the chef hadn’t spotted this, we don’t know. The venison was poor - lacking in flavour and seasoning and my wife thought the accompanying mash tasted had the flavour and texture of instant potato. She commented that her meal was like a school dinner. We were given a refund for the cod dish without quibble but, based on the food we were given and the slow and random service, cannot possibly recommend this place.

Brilliant. Cannot rate this highly enough - comfortable, helpful staff, excellent roast for sharing, no long wait, car charger, too. Will definitely return when next in the area.

Cannot recommend this place highly enough!! From the lovely cosy room to the authentic bar - everything was lovely! All the staff were welcoming and having seen the reviews yes they are busy multitasking but nothing is too much trouble! They are friendly, welcoming and attentive! Wendy was lovely and looked after us at dinner wonderfully!! As for the food anyone who says it’s bland I cannot believe we had dinner on both nights of our stay and breakfast - portions were huge and the food was truly incredible!! All in all anyone looking for a lovely country inn with great staff this is the place for you! Also worth a visit to the courtyard farm shop as amazing home produced products and cheeses! Thank you so much for a lovely stay and yes we will be back!!! Xx

We stayed four nights at the Elveden Inn and had dinner there three nights. The Inn was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of tasty breakfast choices and we had lovely dinners. Our room was spacious, well appointed and comfortable....

Had to stop there after driving from very early morning because Tesla Supercharger is located there and I had to charge my car. We arrived at 9:30am and with 1 hour of charging tine, and having seen the sign that food was served all day...

Nice fish and chips, service and staff good, dog friendly. The only downside, to us, was the menu, not much choice. More like a sandwich shop than a pub menu. But I guess it's quick and easy to prepare and being where they are there...

Excellent selection of local real ales and a few ciders. Food opted for the Haddock and the pie special. Nicely presented and thoroughly enjoyed both. No room for dessert though there was a good selection. Really good place to eat whether inside or out.

Another super lunch had here. We chose the sharing roast which included pork loin, turkey and beef on one large plate, together with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. This enabled us to choose whatever we wanted. A good idea and slightly cheaper than 2 single roast...

Overpriced average food, toasted stale focaccia, bought in parfait, sirloin steak not rested so extremely tough, service was absent, no offer of dessert and enjoyed being called ‘mate’ by the waiter - really??

Absolutely amazing experience, staff so friendly couldn't do enough for us, food great good quality, room was lovely clean and well equipped, breakfast was amazing, all in all 10/10 experience!! Location was superb!!

What a great pub. Went while staying at centre parcs, Nice change from the chain restaurants. Lovely food and brilliant service. Big play area for the kids too. Keep up the good work, well be back!
