The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

Lovely place; very good garden for children to play in; outdoor seating - some people braving this in December; quite a few people eating, but staff in control and our food arrived in good time - nice and hot - well done. Been before, but will be returning.

Great service, friendly and accommodating. Lovely food, both choice and taste. Dogs welcome. Clean. Parking. Great outdoor play frame for children.

Lovely friendly pub , excellent service and a fantastic lunch . Very clean and tidy and cosy atmosphere. Next time my friend and I are in Southwold we will be back again for some more of your delicious food .

Maybe the chef was off sick but if you like charcoal, this was definitely the place to be!

I decided to try an afternoon tea for my mum’s birthday and we weren’t disappointed, perfectly presented and hats off to the chef it all tasted amazing. The waitress’s were really lovely and clearly loved their job, and a credit to your business. Thank you for a really lovely experience

Visited again Christmas Eve, very friendly and professional service. All food was good quality. Enjoyed our visit, the staff was welcoming, attentive and helpful when we use Tesco vouchers. The food was nice, good size potions and drinks good priced. The only drawback we had was a large party having a lovely evening next to us which made it a bit noisy. Would recommend

Made to feel like a leper when we walked in by I assume locals just staring. My 13 year old daughter left the door open, to which one of them got up and slammed the door. Was told they'd put 2 small round tables together in the middle of the room for three of us. Felt so uncomfortable we left. Was just like the scene in American werewolf in London, amazed someone wasn't playing darts. Avoid, go to one of the chips shops instead!

Only stayed one night unfortunately. Rooms were great . The staff were very nice and professional too

We had a function at The White Horse last night. The staff are lovely and friendly. We didn't have food so can't speak to that, but the atmosphere here was brilliant and I'd happily recommend it to anyone!

Today we drove to meet our friends, decided to meet half way and chose The Anchor pub for lunch. We ordered 2 jacket potatoes with beans n cheese, 1 ploughman’s & 1 wrap, looking around at an empty pub we figured it safe to keep it simple. However an hour later I was assured by the manager they were just plating up - really they shouldn’t have bothered it was the worst pub food I’d seen in years. Do not go here if you are looking for good food or a good atmosphere - this place has neither.
