Held my husbands 40th birthdate here last weekend which was a surprise, had approx. 40 people. Was a great night lots of space and felt like it was just us in there as the area was away from the main bar. Really well put on and the food was amazing, lots of guests commented on how good it was! Very reasonable prices too. Overall great night at a great venue. Thank you!

The Red Lion hosted an engagement party for my daughter and her fiancée. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was amazing. The party was made really east to organise by the manager and everything went to plan. A truly lovely afternoon party.

Worst experience of our UK family trip Unfortunately we had quite a bad experience at this hotel. We asked for a travel cot for our baby and were given a cot with no mattress and instead of it they put a folded duvet. We did not realise this when we put him to sleep and in the middle of the night he woke up screaming as he ended up on the ground completely covered by the duvet. This is extremely unsafe and dangerous and the hotel staff should know better and pay attention as these are basic safety measure that should be known when preparing a bed for a baby. We were told breakfast started at 7.30 but there was no breakfast when we went downstairs at 7.40 and the staff refused to even let us grab a fruit for our child or a simple cup of coffee. The pub and the restaurant are nice but would not recommend this hotel for families with young children.

First day of winter and it’s Sunday lunch at dinner time! Main courses hit the spot and desserts were the same but special shout out to the apple crumble.

Stopped in for a couple of drinks at this lovely pub hotel, and it was a great experience! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with open fireplaces that add a warm touch. They even have games on site, which is a fun bonus. The staff were very friendly and made us feel right at home. The toilets were also impressively clean, which is always nice to see. Overall, it’s a fantastic spot for a relaxing drink, and I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Popped in for lunch and was well impressed at the menu, presentation and service. Comfortable well-equipped bar area which was huge! Very enjoyable meal and atmosphere. Excellent.

The Red Lion has recently had a full refurbishment, it’s now looking so modern, clean and stylish. We live in Radlett and this is our local pub, since the refurb we’ve used it a lot more. The staff are really welcoming, it’s dog friendly and the food is great. We went on Sunday for a roast and we were really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meals. It was reasonably priced too (have included photo of our receipt). We’ll be back! Well done Red Lion for turning this pub around and making a local we’re proud to have on our doorstep

Great location in the heart of Radlett, we parked behind the parade of high street shops. It’s recently had a full refurbishment and it looks great! The staff are super friendly and our roast dinners were really high quality at a reasonable price, we’ll be back!

This spot was amazing for a family get together for my granddaughter’s first birthday gathering . Spotlessly clean and great staff very accommodating and could not fault them in any possible way. Food was amazing and plentiful . Thank you so much staff we are so grateful for all your effort. Thank you for all your help and making our day so measurable .

The hotel is stunning. The eclectic furniture set up and whole ambience of the building is like a breath of fresh air. The outside terrace though large is divided in such a way that you can still retain some privacy within your group. The rooms were designed and decorated to a very high standard. The beds are extremely comfortable as are the pillows. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly member of staff (apologies I didn't get his name) who was training a new member of staff. He was both polite and helpful to us and the new starter which I found extremely reassuring. I was particularly impressed by the little touches such as many clean dog bowls, beds and a large array of children's things ready to hand. (We had neither in our group but very handy to know. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic. With a wide range of options to choose from. It was cooked and presented very well. I would throughly recommend staying at this hotel

Nice pub inside and out with great terrace with plenty of space on a bank holiday Monday. Service was good as was food. Great location too, 2 mins from station. With there with 2 babies and had a great experience

This review is for the Pub and not the Hotel! I recently hosted my husband's 50th birthday at this venue, and I cannot express how thrilled we were with the experience! We booked before the renovations, and we were hopeful for positive changes. When we arrived on the big day, we were absolutely delighted with what we found. The new room setup was fantastic! It encouraged a relaxed atmosphere, allowing for ample seating and giving guests the opportunity to mingle freely. People loved "playing musical chairs" throughout the evening, moving around to chat with different friends and family. This layout truly facilitated conversation, making the event even more enjoyable than we had anticipated. The food was also a highlight—fresh and delicious! Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, adding to the overall enjoyment of the evening. A special shoutout to Paul and Dan, who were incredible hosts. From the moment we arrived, they were attentive and supportive, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The timing of the food service was impeccable, which contributed to the overall success of the evening. The only downside was that we hadn’t realized the venue was dog-friendly, so our dog missed out on the fun. I highly recommend this venue for any event! With its location so close to the station, it makes access easy. The renovations have made a significant positive impact, and the staff's dedication to customer service is truly commendable. A warm welcome. Welcoming and helpful staff. Freshly renovated and very nicely decorated room. We also had dinner at the PUB in a typical and warm setting worthy of Great Britain. The food was excellent, the beer too ;-) I highly recommend this address.

I celebrated a birthday here recently and Dan, Paul and the team of staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating - they were truly wonderful. From my initial dealings with Carolyn, all the way through to the day itself they were kind, reasonable and communicative. The private room was ideal - a good size for the amount of guests attending, light and and airy, with plenty of seating. They also welcomed dogs - even putting out a dog bed and water bowls, which was such a lovely touch. The location is brilliant as it's just opposite the station which made it easy for friends travelling from London. The food was fresh, tasty and hot, brought out every hour. All in all I was delighted and would highly recommend the Red Lion for similar occasions. Thank you to all!

Fabulous service by Dan and his staff at The Red Lion for our big family get together. Nothing was too much trouble. We were a big family group, arranging and pre-ordering was easy. Dan kept in touch with us and confirmed arrangements right up to the day before.

Been staying here for years for the odd short stay. The rooms are nearly always booked out for a reason - the top floor rooms are best .

The Red Lion hosted my husbands 50th Birthday party on Saturday 13th April and did the most fantastic job. From organising an allergy friendly buffet menu to hosting my singing duo to a bespoke drinks menu, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much to Paul and the team, I would highly recommend you to anyone planning a bash there!

Great place to take dogs, they are treated like royalty. Fantastic restaurant, amazing food with a great menu of excellent home cooked food. Carolyn could not have been more attentive even though we were running late nothing was to much trouble. Highly recommend.

Came with my family for food and drinks. We all had roast dinners the potatoes were a big to solid, under cooked but other all was very enjoyable. We will go again

Stayed at The Red Lion Friday evening till Tuesday morning. We had 2 rooms, a twin and a single. The rooms were cosy, clean and comfortable. Lovely easy to use shower, fluffy white towels and assorted toiletries if you forget yours. Bottled water, snacks, coffee machine, hot chocolate and selection of teas are available. There was even an iron, ironing board and hairdryer in my room. Lots of room for clothes to be hung up. Had a breakfast and an evening meal which was tasty, hot and came quickly, our friends joined us for the evening meal which they also enjoyed. My party had fish and chips, burger, plant burger and two portions of sausage and mash, everyone left a clean plate! All the staff were friendly and helpful from cases being carried up to our rooms, extra towels provided, no rushing but attentive waiting staff, always a ‘hello, morning, enjoy your day and lots of smiles as we left the hotel for the day or when we returned. We was made to feel really welcome and had sad faces when it was time to come home. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to visit again! Thankyou Red Lion XXX

Six of us went there for dinner, the order was taken and 1 hour later I asked the waitress how much longer and she looked shocked and ran off ,The manager came to our table apollogized and said she had forgotten to put it through . So we had to wait another hour before it came out . then we ordered dessert apple crumble and custard the little jug they brought out had what looked like milk in it ? I asked what it was and was told they made some sort of mixture with egg as they didn't have custard !!! I explained I was allergic to eggs and they should not just serve anything they want without telling us first .or ask us for an alternative. So I asked for ice cream instead . The whole dinner experience was a complete disaster we waited 2 hours to eat we will not be recommending this pub to any one or coming back Even after the manager gave us a free drink each It did not compensate the bad service we had . I only gave 1 star for service but it's showing 5 stars that's rubish it won't let me change it so its 0 stars as far as im concerned .

Nice bar lunch on a cold winter’s day. Food and drink was perfectly acceptable and the surroundings were warm and comfortable. Chap who served us was very professional and welcoming.

Good place to watch the world go by in the summer. However, the prices are more expensive than you find in central London.

Standard pub Sunday roast, food ok but not noteworthy, pleasant server. Veg served not as per menu. Buttered sprouts apparently typo for greens, shy mot just say there are no sprouts

I booked a table of 15 for the family to get together for a Christmas meal and we were seated on a beautiful large table in the dining area with beautiful christmas decorations and a lovely tree. It was exactly the atmosphere i was hoping for. The menu choice was sufficient and the haddock was absolutely divine. I had the sausage and mash which was lovely and my sister in law had the steak which she said was very good! The service was amazing the staff made sure to check on us regularly offering drinks etc. All in all it was a wonderful evening and all of the family agreed that it was a lovely relaxed, festive pub and a great choice made by me! It was a lot of pressure choosing the correct location but I think I pulled it off! The bill was incredibly reasonable considering its location. Thank you red lion for a wonderful service.

We had a delightful breakfast experience with a delicious vegetarian meal that was not greasy. The chef prepared our food quickly, and the avocado & egg toast was particularly enjoyable. The sourdough was crispy and not chewy, and the avocado mash had a perfect balance of flavors without being too sour or citrusy. It would be great if they showcased some food pictures outside to attract more customers and compete with other breakfast restaurants on the high street.

Having booked a birthday breakfast online for my friend at 7am we arrived promptly to an empty dining room and a pre-occupied waitress. When I announced that I had booked yesterday (and later confirmed with a phone call) I asked where we should sit to be told ‘No chef today I don’t know when he arrives’ My friend and I stood in disbelief discussed our options for a few minutes to then be told he had arrived. We decided to stay - ordered quickly - drinks arrived promptly - a pot of tea and cartoned orange juice albeit fresh orange juice was ordered. Despite being the only diners the 2 meals (variations of scrambled eggs) took until 7.45am to arrive I kept asking the waitress where the food was to be told it was coming but she didn’t check and we could see her constantly counting money in the till when the food eventually arrived it was tepid at best - it had clearly been standing in the kitchen whilst the waitress faffed about - we had to eat quickly as we were unable to gain access to the Red Lion car park and local restrictions started at 8am. When the bill came I enquired if everything was okay given the disastrous service - this was received by a list of problems the waitress had including why she had not slept well the night before. A more realistic Faulty Towers Experience you will not receive in all of Herts!

Just come back from having Sunday lunch . I must be completely honest the Sunday roast was not was not the best roast we have had. The roasts we ordered came up and they were not hot. Like warm. We sent them back and another roast came up. Still not that hot. I don't know if it were me but the roast potatoes tasted as if they had been frozen and just heated or if they had been cooked earlier and just reheated in the microwave. On the up side, the staff were friendly. Sorry for this negative review but I really don't think we will be returning and I would not consider recommending people to go there.

Just had a Christmas meal with 20 friends and have to say it was amazing (yes pretty early but we have busy diaries!). We had our own area, the service was super friendly, the food was exceptional, my kids who are pretty picky said it was the best roast dinner they've ever had and I have to say I can't argue with them, it was delicious. If you're looking for a Christmas venue you should book here. Amazing.

No Sunday beef dinner wasted so much time waiting to be seated and then ordered drinks thinking they would go with lunch only to be told after we ordered it and waited that they had sold out. It would have been better to have told us before we ordered drinks as ordered to go with meal. We decided to go and have Sunday dinner somewhere else. Said I would pay for drinks but only half a beer as my partner was driving to be told I will have to check with Manager. With just a glass of red wine and half a beer charged a whopping £12.90 Apart from one large party the rest of restaurant was empty.

We ate there yesterday as a couple with a little baby. Unfortunately, the food was so tasty we forgot to take a photograph. Jana was a helpful and excellent waitress. We ordered the gammon roast which catered for my gluten allergy.

Perfect stopover for our north-south drive. Easy to find, big car park, super-welcoming staff, friendly locals, very good dinner, superb breakfast, log fires and good beer/wine. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the king size beds are very comfortable. Look forward to staying again. Thank you all!

We stayed together with our friends and families in the red lion for our wedding in shenley. Carolyn, Dan and their team were absolutely amazing throughout the entire weekend! The food was delicious, the rooms were cosy and clean and we just couldn't have wished for a better accommodation. The staff was always happy to answer any questions we had, provide us with everything we needed and just made us feel incredibly welcome! We can highly recommend this place, especially to those who want to have a proper British weekend, with a cosy pub, nice British breakfast and delicious beers. Thanks again for the great weekend!

The restaurant was quiet we were the only ones eating the food was good the puddings need a bit of work. The service was not the best but I can understand why no other customers to serve. If this place gets busier it can improve the service it was a bad night weather wise but this place deserves a chance. Very polite young man dealt with us and overall the meal was fine . Just a note the sausage and mash should have a quality onion gravy not onion rings.

Great pub, excellent location with superb food. The pub is hugely inviting with and a terrace that has wonderful lighting and stunning flowers, all maintained brilliantly by Christian. Highly recommended

This pub was incredible. Very accommodating to me and my aunt with two service dogs. Polite and friendly staff who went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. Staff showed us to a table and bought a bowl of water for our dogs. Staff even came over to stroke the dogs and bought over a dog bed for them to rest on. Stayed here for a couple of nights with my 3 year old - the staff were absolutely wonderful, food was amazing and the bed so comfy! The bathroom was great with a big shower and lovely deep bath. There was air con in the room which made the nights much more bearable and a Nespresso machine in the room for morning coffee. Travelling to and from London was a breeze, would recommend this for anyone not wanting to stay in central London.

Marstons beer on too sweet, whats happened to Proper job, much better than fake Youngs brewed by Wells

Stayed here 4 times and would not hesitate to book again. Rooms are amazing , great location, free parking, friendly staff , perfectly cooked breakfast. What’s not to love !

Always friendly and accommodating

I held my 30th birthday in the Aldenham room. From the first enquiry to the day, the team and Simona in particular were fantastic. Very responsive and there to help at all times. Room was great and being able to decorate from 2pm that afternoon in preparation for the evening made everything run smoothly! The food looked and tasted beautiful. Stayed here the night of a wedding. Lovely staff and big comfy rooms with decent showers. The breakfast was amazing and plenty of choice

On arrival there was a terrible smell of sewage/drains and our server explained that there was a problem in the basement and they were hoping it would soon be fixed. The smell lessened during the evening, but I guess we just got used to it! We had pre-booked our table for 6 people online for 7.30pm and were sat towards the back of the restaurant, near to the kitchen/service area which was fine as it was quiet. The table was clean but had an unpleasant stickiness to it. Several menu items were already unavailable which was disappointing. Our party had the asparagus risotto, curry goat chops and the last available portion of fish & chips. All dishes were tasty. Next to our table were 3-4 steps which the staff used as a launch pad to run & jump from throughout our meal. When we paid the bill I mention to our server how unpleasant this had been. He replied that the staff had been running past us to get to a food-tasting. I said I thought that was an excuse for their inappropriate & poor behaviour in their restaurant. He responded brusquely saying that it wasn't an excuse it was a 'fact'. His attitude was both arrogant and rude. We were all taken aback by his hostility and lack of an apology. Unfortunately, by this point, we had already paid the bill and I had personally spoken to him about adding an additional service payment for the staff who waited on our table......what a shame! We won't go back.

3 of us visited for lunch on a Tuesday and found the food was good, the staff were pleasant and the service was excellelent

We kept the staff waiting a while as a show our kids were in at the local theatre were late out. It was a Sunday evening and I'm sure they were ready to close the kitchen but they didn't make us feel hassled at all. Really friendly service, very efficient and the food was great. Thanks so much

We enjoyed a very tasty meal with a group of friends at the weekend. The menu was more imaginative than most, and the food was excellent. The young waiters were very attentive and bought everything we requested quickly and with no fuss. We were just surprised that there seemed to be so few other diners, apart from one other party. It was great for us, we had a charming side room to ourselves and could happily hear everyone talk, that's a rare event in a restaurant these days. All in all, a very enjoyable evening was had by all our party.

Very kind and helpful staff who looked after us and my 98-yr-old Dad well. Huge portions of very tasty food! Recommended.

Stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. Very comfortable and clean. Staff went above and beyond to help us. Location was perfect. Close to train station and easy to get into London. Would highly recommend this place and would stay there again when visiting London.

Exactly £10 for a pint of Neck Oil and a small glass of Diet Coke. More expensive than the Cow at Westfield shopping centre Stratford and pubs in the City. Outrageous profiteering. No doubt the manager will reply trying to discredit an honest observation.

This is a great place to stay outside of London but with quick access into the city. The staff were all lovely, we took our dog and they were brilliant with her. There was a bed, blanket and bowls for her in the room. The room had air con which was much appreciated. There is a lovely outdoor seating area at the front to enjoy a drink and inside the pub there are lots of different cosy areas to sit. We had dinner which was very good, rump steak with proper chips. We didn't have breakfast as we had to get away early. All in all a fantastic place to stay and we will definitely return.

I booked the Aldenham Room in the Red Lion pub in Radlett for my Birthday party recently. The room was perfect for my group of 30 guests and the staff were so helpful and accommodating. Big shout out to Emma for looking after us so well - she couldn’t have been nicer. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Red Lion. We were able to play our own music and the food was amazing. We had a great night and will definitely book again in the future

Had such a wonderful Mother's Day lunch today. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient and I thought it was a lovely touch to be offered a glass of bubbly and a flower for the occasion( wasn't expecting that!) It's also a place that is very welcoming for children and dogs. All in all a great experience, Thank you very much!

Great and attending staff. Lovely "Fireplace room", keeps U warm during winter( ur allowed 2 add wood in yourself😁). For a pub food is fantastic. Only downfall would b prices( £6+ for a pint of your choice, £20 for a meal).

We enjoyed a fabulous weekend stay at the Red Lion. Simona and Silviu were incredibly warm, welcoming and attentive. We very much enjoyed the food (breakfast and dinner) and the comfortable surroundings. All in all, a great pub in a fantastic location - perfect for hopping on a train into central London and also for visiting the nearby Harry Potter Studios.

Lady that was on duty was very friendly put the rugby on for us and was more than helpful. Ordered food whilst watching the rugby. Unfortunately I found a hair in my food. The man that was working asked me did I want another one...

Had a lovely breakfast, continental was laid out to help yourself, but we also ordered a cooked breakfast too. The waitress was extremely helpful and even went to the local store to see if they had any black pudding as the hotel had run out. Really great service and the food was really good too.

Popped in for a pint and a lunch. Good beer, nice food for a pub. I had the meal recommended by Daniel bit pricey but ok.

Walked in and walked right out! No one (I mean not one person!) was in the restaurant. It looked sad and empty. We hesitated for a bit, then thought better of it and left.

went with wife and four friends for lunch. Oh dear quality and quantity are both on the slide. Cauliflower soup served cold, sent back, but basically tasteless. One ordered roast lamb, more fat than meat;One ordered beef steaks and received roast beef. the quantity of cabbage was a joke, the vegetables almost non existant. Our server did her best and was both warm and caring but we think she appreciated matters were not right. It takes ages to develope a reputation, but it can be so easily lost, A great shame

Fantastic staff, events coordinator and venue. I organised a last minute party for a friend and the whole process was seamless and the room was available for our group. The food was delicious too!

Great venue, friendly staff and more than accommodating. We hired out the restaurant for a private function. Food was great, staff super helpful.

Overpriced drinks, staff are friendly, but need more training. Food is pretty decent but expensive.
