The White Horse in Hertsmere

Dropped in for a drink, and it was a great spot! I didn’t try the food this time, but I’ve heard it’s really good—definitely planning to give it a go next time. The open fireplace gives it a cozy vibe, and the staff were friendly. Plenty of parking too, which is always a plus. Perfect place to kick back and relax!

Not what it used to be. Walked into an empty pub/restaurant and the server had to "check" they had a table. It was still virtually empty when we left. Very average food considering the price.

Oh dear, despite the good reviews this pub sadly disappointed. Went for Sunday lunch and pie was served frozen in the middle. On second reheating efforts the filling was piping hot but the pastry so tuff I could barely cut through it. Nice enough pub with reasonable ambience

Gemma is a lovely lass. Really lovely lass. She always makes sure we are happy with the drinks, food and service. She is the reason we keep returning. Lovely pub/restaurant. Food is always delicious. Toilets are clean. Highly recommended venue.

Ahh yes, the white horse, one of those classic pubs in the UK, this is a very nice pub with a well designed interior making it cosy and comfortable, wonderful food and very nice staff, especially Gemma. I personally still would go to weatherspoons over the white horse but I would go here for special occasions, but none the less a great pub!

I came in for fish and chips I didn't have a long wait before I was seen by Gemma she was very polite and kind. The fish was succulent and rich in flavour and the chips were cooked to perfection.

Went for lunch on Wednesday and as always the food was amazing, atmosphere was lovely and Gemmas service and attentiveness was perfect. Thank you.

We had my father's wake on 19th September. The management were sensitive and helpful in the lead up to the event. We had a really lovely time, which is a real achievement, given the reason for the gathering. Everyone said how much they liked the food. The space was perfect and the garden (helped by some really good weather) was a real bonus.

Did not have food today, just drinks. Gemma was a great host. We only had to tell her our round once and she kept the drinks coming all evening. Highly recommend.

Gemma was absolutely fantastic, the food and drink was great but Gemma was better! Honestly never felt so happy in my life. I don’t live locally but I will most defo totally be going back there probably to enjoy this Gemma experience again. She is completely professional, whilst remaining friendly, she went the extra mile literally!!!!! She made me a superb coffee it really woke me up, tasted like the best coffee literally ever. I could go on. Is there a better human being on the planet? Actually one more thing Gemma is a princess with a capital p

We were served really well by Gemma who took good care of us. Food was excellent and prepared and cooked really well by Leon It was for my daughter’s birthday and made it really special. Excellent choice of venue Will definitely come again

Food was delicious as always, (the roast potato portion could have been a little more generous ). Apart from that, lovely quiet and calm atmos in the snug area, our server Harry was excellent, very attentive, friendly and ensured we had all we needed. Lovely Sunday lunch :)

worst roast of our lives. the beef was so dry, severely overcooked and hard. the roast chicken was even drier, and there was so little gravy. fish and chips was fishy with a thick crust. linguine was acceptable but not great either. the yorkshire pudding was probably the best item on our table.

Booked a late lunch for 9 on bank holiday Monday. The food was good however they’d run out of half the menu! No dough for pizzas, no halloumi, no lemon tart, one of the fish dishes, and no pasta for the kids menu. Two of the group ordered Chardonnay and they only had enough for 1 glass. It was pretty poor and meant that for our 5 year old there were two items on a small kids menu that she couldn’t have, although they agreed to do her pasta with linguine. A shame as the food we did have was really good, but would be unlikely to return.

Had a lovely double birthday celebration. Food quality was excellent, and the level of service provided by the team led by Gemma was just right. Thoroughly recommend!!

The Sunday roast was delicious and the beef wonderfully tender.

We may have chosen a bad night but to be honest apart from the young lady who served us who could not be more apologetic the night was a disaster. It seems that the kitchen could not understand the order so apart from delays the food we received was incorrect getting steaks mixed up and orders wrong. One of the specials was a lamb shank which was fatty and arrived cold. My wife did not get her meal which was Sea Bass until everyone had finished their meals. There was no sight of a manager who chose not to face us or the issues and felt that a 20% discount would be sufficient. We were very disappointed with the evening and will not be rushing back.

Ample free parking at the rear. Large airy gastro pub with a nice atmosphere and an extensive menu. My friend and I ordered fish and chips which was very tasty. A little more expensive than some pubs but the food is good amd it's table service so it's worth it.

Molly was fantastic and helped us convince my partner that waiting for dessert is wiser than ordering dessert with our mains. Thankfully she held off and changed her mind and ordered a different dessert in the end. Truly, a glorious evening made manifest.

Absolutely awful experience. Went with a party of 6, everyone's food came out at different times (a difference of 20 minutes between people getting their full meals). I ordered medium steak but they gave me a well done steak and they forgot to give me the peppercorn sauce, which took me chasing several staff members before they managed to go and get it 10 minutes later. 4/6 people had cold food, and the chef clearly had an affinity for salt! Drinks orders were wrong and we were charged for drinks we did not even have. Please note the restaurant only had us and 1 other table, so nothing to do with being busy!

We were a last minute large booking for a leaving party. Some food, which was amazing, but mostly drinks. We were looked after so well. The staff were so accommodating. Cocktails by Jess and Luke, food by Radu and Chen. Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome.

Delicious Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Gemma couldn't do enough to make our experience amazing. Extra gravy, extra Yorkshire pudding and a mini dessert with a cocktail to finish. We will definitely be back.

Had a lovely family Sunday lunch here. The food was very good. The staff were lovely and when we came out and saw we had a puncture they even gave us free drinks we waited for the tyre repairs to get to us.

Top class service.. went on a weeknight with a girlfriend for her birthday. Nibbles and a glass of wine. Food was great and served by Gemma who really went above and beyond. Nothing was to much trouble for her. For a local pub/restaurant with great food and lovely staff, this is the place to be. Highly recommend the halloumi fries! So delish!!!!

We had a family meal at lunchtime on Saturday 08/06/2024, we were served by a lovely young lady called Jolie, there were 7 of us and Jolie was so accommodating. It makes such a difference when you are greeted with such a beautiful smile and warm welcome. Food was great and served altogether. We will definitely be back when next in the area.

The food and service were nothing shy of amazing, we were instantly met by Jess and a big smile at the door she showed us to our seats straight away and gave us elite service from start to finish.

We had the £100 set menu which was recommended by our waitress. This included a £51 bottle of red ! Food was superb, really tasty and good portions. We finished the meal with some cocktails made by Matthew. Perfect end to a Perfect meal. Many thanks to Matthew and the team for a great night. Definitely will be back. Steve & Lisa
