The Admiral Byng in Hertsmere

Very good pub, lots of space with Sky TV. The menu is comprehensive, and the food is fairly priced and good value for money. The only problem is that the parking is a bit tight on the main road as there are yellow lines everywhere. The Manor Road car park is not too far from the pub, but costs £2.20 per hour. Our food arrived quickly, and the portions were good. All in all, we will be returning.

Average spoons. Young man with dreadlocks really should try to enjoy his work more. Came to our table several time and we thanked him and were very polite and not once did he say a word. Cheer up mate, it may never happen...

Love this place… it’s become a family tradition to pop in here at least once every time we’re in the UK. Local family comes here all the time. Love the food, the array of beers, very friendly staff, location. Never met the surly manager, if they have one. 😁

Worst food l ever had here friends didn't get what was described on menu with thier burgers had to ask person who server the table. also everybody's food was cold and coffee milk wasn't hot enough l always had no problem with this restaurant but to day was a bit of a let down

Usually ok but Christmas eve ruined by over aggressive manageress's attitude even at 6.30 pm before the rush. She needs training and an attune adjustment.

Awful such a knob working behind bar kicked us out when closing without letting us finish our pints, scammed us out of our money essentially

A basic pub. The food was served very quickly and was piping hot. Excellent value for money if you want a quick meal but not somewhere to linger, in my opinion.

ordered a christmas dinner on 16/12/2014..absolute discrace,i’ve never ever posted before,but felt the need tonight,my plate barely touched,took 2 hours for staff to take it awsy evennthiugh it was clicked no less than ,5 times by staff,my father in law gas been more than bc a regular for over 25 years,and when they did eventually take the full plate away,said sorry !!!!

A very pleasant Sunday brunch sitting in the sun round a table outside. Vegetarian breakfasts were great value

Manger was so rude can’t believe she is the manager she should be sacked how she speaks to people outrageous will not be going there again shame really because the rest of the staff was lovely. If you don’t want to loose customers I suggest you get rid of her !!!!

Went 09/10/2024 evening around 3.30pm Managers was very rude. Not helping at all. Feel like very racist. Need to be polite and nice for the customers. He doing this many time for me. Next time take a picture and will upload it. Drink was made wrong. Asked about it from the Manager. Surprise , he doesn’t no about as well. Food was disgusting. Missing food as well.

For the first time - ever - the staff are sectioning-off areas of the Admiral Byng pub! We attempted to sit by the window, only to find chairs had been placed to obstruct the whole area. When we asked the guy behind the bar why we weren't 'allowed' to sit where we've been sitting for years, he said it was a new rule, to save the wait-staff from walking. Are they that lazy? I would really love to know...

Felt like an old fashioned pub atmosphere. Everyone knew everyone else, all walks of life mingling together Food was very decent and dirt cheap, as where the drinks.. Cannot fault the place

Great experience. Best steak I've ever had in a pub. Friendly service from all staff except a member who could have been management or owner, who for some reason thought it smart to waltz in and out of the kitchen without washing hands or at covering shoes etc. Rest of the team: amazing job all around.

Nice weatherspoons. Quiet eating section with tasteful decor like an admiral's library. Interesting historical information, photos and exhibits.

Went for a birthday lunch but got turned away by a new manager as we had our family dog with us. There was no one sitting outside but we were told it was their policy that dogs were not allowed inside or out. We have previously been before with our dog and have never been refused. We are supposed to be a dog friendly society and i cannot see any problem with a dog sitting outside. Instead of worrying about dogs they should perhaps clean up their outside areas where a dog, if they were allowed, would sit. Shame on you Wetherspoons.

Went for a breakfast today and whilst I appreciate the pub was busy, the service was awful. Food was cold and came out haphazardly or was missing. Heard other customers complaining about the same issue too. Waitress did her best but was run off her feet, and seemed to have no support and appeared to be working on her own. When we spoke to the manager he clearly wasn't interested in what we had to say, and again I appreciate that he was busy but his attitude was not acceptable. We will not return to this particular Wetherspoons again.

We eat here quite often when we can’t be bothered to cook at home. The service is always good and the food never takes long to come out, the food itself is perfectly nice for what you are spending. If your looking for a nice quick meal than your be happy with this place.

Been coming here for a few years now. Never had an issue. Food always comes fairly quick and it's tasty.

A member of staff was extremely rude and snapping at us, other customers, young members of staff…really spoiled the vibe. Swearing loudly about the customers too. Awful, won’t be back.

I had a Sunday Brunch there with a friend. Food perfectly prepared and hot. Bottomless refill on Hot beverages from machine offering very wide choice coffee. Great surrounds with bookshelf and ancient facts about the Admiral Byng. Lovely place

Had a lunch date with my gorgeous family, the food was good but bloody slow! There was a good selection for my veggie husband but we waited nearly an hour for our food! My darling children didn’t complain and finished their plates, wish they would do that at home lol! I miss the old days when you would speak to an actual person, didn’t enjoy the app ordering. Signal was poor so ended up pressing the button twice and ordering two rounds of drinks, silly cow I am! Overall wasn’t a bad experience, would recommend ordering at the bar!

Really good atmosphere and food for a Friday night

Nice and spacious inside, nice vibe. Bot liking the almost permanent scaffolding on its exterior. My first visit there September '23, and it's still erected, with what seems to alude to very little progress of improvements/ repairs, if that were the original intentions for the building.

This place is amazing you can go and get a decent meal pizze burger salad breakfast literally anything with a drink of you choice ( yes doubles involved) for around a tenna. Place to be in these hard times

Went for meal with family the food is absolutely awful, no stars. Why would you serve that food jacket pots were powder I would not recommend going there to eat, manager questioned what we ordered stating not on menu although the meal requested was on there, she was rude in her responses I would give no star. Other staff members were great thou.

The byng used to be my local and I'd been going there for 20 plus years. They used to offer good value for money on food but nowadays it has gone right downhill. You pay more for food and get less

Beer selection was good and the service was great The atmosphere was good it's well worth a visit.

The staff were lovely. The booze was cheap. The beyond meat burger was as dry as ghandis flip flop. The owner of wetherspoons is a racist, bigot who treats his staff like dirt. There was a group of middle aged men near us I enjoyed listening to. They were probably low level drug dealers. Took me back to the old days.

JUst had a breakfast at the Byng. Staff were OKish. But nice and friendly. Breakfast was a good standard. Can not really complain as price was decent. Will be back to another Spoons at some point.

The Beer was good. By that I mean well kept the staff were good too making sure the Beer was at the top of the glass when they served.

It's a Wetherspoons. It's like reviewing water. You know what it is. Bar was spacious and service was prompt on a Saturday lunchtime. Can say no more.

The pub is amazing there anything is that they need to get contract cleaners in there again to start cleaning the buildings that's the only thing is to cleaning they used to have contract cleaning in their and the place used to be spotless that's really really the only thing they need to get proper cleaners back in there

Went Saturday night , four of us . 4 main meals and drinks for £40 , you can’t go wrong . Very busy at 6.30 , but service was quick . My spicy chicken and rice was actually lovely , dirty burger and chips looked a bit lost , two curries ok , popadoms not really that edible , should have asked for replacement . All in all very good value for money , let’s face it you know what your getting . Probably one of the better Weather Spoons that I have been in to , better clientele than some .

Another pretty standard spoons a short walk from the Potters Bar station. The usual seating inside including a raised area to the right and a few tables out the front with everything clean and tidy. The staff were wonderful: very friendly and helpful. The Guinness was excellent

Good place to go for early morning breakfast

Just got my first pint went to sit outside to be approached by a guy saying take my number I sell coke and dat init! I was quite shocked at this apart from that the staff seemed friendly and the beer was cheap

You know roughly what you are going to get with a wetherspoons, whilst this is not one of the repurposed buildings it is not a pub that has been around for hundreds of years so it suffers as a retail outlet below flats with only one wall with any natural light which isn't bad in summer as all the windows open to let air in but is dark and dingy in the winter months
