Wimpy in Thurrock

Food was terrible turned up b4 the hot drinks had a wrap left it behind just not very nice

Changed menu, no option for large milkshake but still charged the same as a large. Chips again charged for large and the smallest portion came. Service was lovely, won't return and pay stupidly expensive for small portions.

Saguar was a great representative for wimpy clean fresh and hot...perfect

I love going to wimpy but this visit was extremely busy and the staff were rushed off their feet.

Staff are lovely, food was grim. Burger so over cooked it was crunchy, and so cold the cheese didn’t melt. I left a third of it. When I paid I brought it up, but staff member didn’t seem to understand and just kept thanking me. It was awkward and I cut n run.

Fast and friendly service. Food freshly cooked and served to you hot on a plate with a knife and fork. Staff always friendly to my little boy who loves coming here.

I love wimpy. We grew up in wimpy. Dinner every Saturday before mum took us shopping. I live in South Yorkshire now and can't find one here, so when I visit down south, I have to go there. It has never changed. Love it

It’s a history of the fast food, but it has had it’s glory… now it’s only a shadow. I wonder how it survived, it’s far from cheap fast food!

A very nice and clean wimpy with the older interior style which was a nostalgic throwback. Very friendly staff greeted us and showed us to our table, the food arrived quickly and was hot and tasty. Very happy with my experience today at this wimpy. Just a shame there aren’t many of them around the country left.

I bought a packet of small chips I couldn't bear even a single one of it. Its awful! The chips had stale oil smell its not edible at all!

Loved it , the staff were brilliant, so friendly nothing was too much trouble ,and the food was hot, tasty and just as I rememberd it , haven't had a wimpy for years. Thank you we all will be coming back.

Visited Wimpy after 35 years, in Lakeside Thurrock shopping centre. Used to go to the Bethnal Green branch until they closed down. I ordered a chicken filet burger and chips, it wast tasteless and the chips were old, and chicken batter was hard couldn't chew properly. Place was almost empty just one table with customers eating. Should've not gone in, that was the mistake. Looks like a place were all the hillbillies would go and eat, place looks dilapidated. I would never eat there again, feeling sick now!

Visited Lakeside Wimpy many times, always enjoyable and staff are friendly, and looks after you. Nice and relaxing. Food is nice. The booth seating could do with a refurbish.

Was okay not the best wimpy my order was wrong and forgot half of our food

First time in 30 + years that I haven't enjoyed a Wimpy!serving chips in a bowl (we all know this is to cut down on the portion size)when asked not to put them in a bowl, they completely missed that instruction . Had to endure God awful piped ( canned) music .Think I have to find a new burger house for the next 30+ years!

We like an occasional visit to a Wimpy, simple food well prepared, decent pot of tea (ask for extra bag if you like it strong as we do) and particularly appreciate that you get a proper knife & fork to eat with.! None of that plastic throwaway stuff. Service was fast, you pay on way out. Worth a visit.

My nan used take me to Wimpy some 20+ years ago so thought I'd take the family today. We waited to be seated in a resturant that was barely half full at 12:30pm. Thought I must be down to it being tucked away from the food court. We noticed around 5 waiters and waitresses but after 5minutes of waiting to be seated we gave up. I wouldn't mind but 3 of them were laughing at something on a mobile phone behind the till. We were also slightly put off by the table near the entrance as they were talking about their food being cold. We ended up at Five Guys, I guess the Americans really do know how to provide customer service. A real shame as the one Bishops Stortford 15years ago was great. I noticed the owner only replies to positive comments but i guess it's thier salary they are reducing

Prompt efficient service, delicious and well presented food.

Service was average, fries on all plates were cold. No checking up from staff. Atmosphere very quiet.

Ordered plain burger come with everything on it , asked for a replacement so they scrapped of the tomato sauce and salad and gave it back , not impressed at all

Very good place for hot, quick food and great service. If you prefer a more relaxed environment like myself. Had fried eggs and toast with tea. Recommended 👍

Good service from a young waiter, and nice food. But, terrible shame about the girl who took our money at checkout! We heard her constantly giggling at the guys behind the service counter all the time, joking all the way through our meal, but when we paid her.....her face never cracked a smile. Even after we put money in the tip jar! Rude!! Not even a thank you. I personally think that her attitude needs adjusting, and it may be better in the long term to let her wash up some pots in the kitchen behind the scene, that's is my advice to the manager. Her ego needs sorting out. Maybe the Wimpy wasn't her choice of career, but the first rule of customer service is ',Smile' and say 'thank you' to the customers who pay your wages. I was a manager in a restaurant for many years so I know what I'm talking about. There are many youngsters who would be glad to do this job. We were frequent visitors here, but after that display of rudeness, we'll take our business elsewhere!! We'll not be back here if that's who the Wimpy thinks is good for their business. Get a decent happy person on the till.. not grumpy GertRUDE!

Hadn't been to a Wimpy in nearly 30 years and it didn't disappoint! Friendly service, brilliant food piping hot. Will very much return soon.

Ordered a cheeseburger to take away. Had a bite and realised there was no cheese? Came back and informed the lady at the till. She then didn't believe me and opened up my burger infront of me to check. She said she will take it to the chef. As I was handed back the same burger I was in shock, the cashier who checked my burger with her bare hands had been handling money! The chef also used his bare hands to unravel my burger! Disgusting!!! As I said this to the cashier who I later found out was the owner. She had no idea!! I couldn't eat the burger after 2 people dirty hands and ended up chucking a £7 burger!! Stick to mcdonalds next time! Way more hygienic and cleaner! No wonder hygiene rating is a 3!!

First of all been going here for years. Dont know if its under new ownership/managment but theres like 12 people working in there now. Anyway, ordered halfpounder and just an egg in a bun with onions and beans. Nearly 40min wait for order to arrive. Beans came in a sauce cup, ie the size of a medicine cup around 8 beans in. Egg in a bun consisted of a 2 bun halves on a plate, a fried egg on the side and onions. Halfpounder consisted of 2 cheesburger patties and was cold as was the beans and egg on the egg on a bun plate. We ate it like idiots as we were in a rush, went to pay and complain and already vowing never to set foot in there again. Manager told us that they were very busy and this happens all the time. I told her that they should have told us it would be served cold. She also tried to get us to whisper our complaints as not to alert others. Too top it all off the guy at the till tried to charge us £49 for this, adding another quarter pounder, another egg burger, an extra chicken burger, chicken strips, extra pepsi, milkshake.. I told him to look at our table for proof, he said they had already cleared it away. Manager came back over, and instructed him to charge us what was only on our table reciept. I asked him how he was charging us at all without referring to the table reciept and he just shrugged. Got offered no refund, or discount. Will never set foot in there again.. Wish i could choose no stars, but Google doesnt allow you to submit a review without picking and amount of stars..

There was a ridiculous mistake with our food order. And on a Saturday they only have one chef for the lunch rush.

Hello I want to wimpy's Lakeside on Monday 7/11/22 at 11:30 first of the one of the meal took an extra 5 minutes to arrive but they give us a 10% discount. Me and My family left wimpy's stand out thinking of where go next when one of yours works  Charged towards and was Accusing me off take photos of him I should no I haven't and told he I am blind so I use my phone in a different way my girlfriend show he I don't take any photos of him he shouting are sure you don't take photos of me . I want back in to the restaurant and ask to talk to a manager but no manager or team leader was working. I felt he was try to intimidate me. I still don't understand why your stuff feel it is right to intimidated a blind person who just want a nice meal then chaste after by when of you cook it us upset and disappointed

Food was good, staff were very polite and courteous. Liked the environment.

The service was abysmal, the staff were unfriendly and did not know what they were doing. A notice stated to stand and wait to be seated. I was standing for 40 minutes before I gave up and seated myself. After seating I then waited another 20 mins before I was even asked what I wanted. Avoid this place at all costs

Food was good, very quick, clean with excellent service although toilets need a major update and do look a bit of a warzone. Overall pretty happy.

The young servers were polite and friendly but thr food was awful,which was a shame as we do like a Wimpy.

Have not eaten in wimpy for a long time and will not be using them again, i had the internal grill.the bacon was Swimming in fat, the burger had no taste and a poor texture, the Frankfurt was over cooked and even the chips were dry

International grill was very cold and the bacon burger was very salty Won’t eat there again

Great,friendly attentive and polite staff. They take your order at the table like a restaurant/diner and served on crockery with cuttlery. It was Just as we remembered and as it should be (civilised) Drinks came quickly (in glasses) shortly followed by our food. Wow! The half pounders were huge and very filling and instantly it took us back to our youth😋. The milkshake was very thick which allowed the straw to stand up on its own. The chips/fries were crisp and hot😋. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and a fantastic all round experience and service.

Food was pretty good, could have been cooked and presented slightly better especially given the price. I've certainly had better at other branches. Staff were friendly and service was quick, maybe too quick?

My wife and child ordered and payed for a meal and on the way out she was stopped and accused of not paying, the rude women did this infront of other customers, my wife pulled up the bank transaction on her phone and at the same time the soppy mare in charge found the till receipt, my wife felt humiliated infront of other customers. We certainly will never eat at a wimpy again ever! The prat was lucky I wasn't there as I would have pointed out that who serves up food in a fast food outlet without asking for payment and then she would have been given an ear full. You can't make racehorses out of donkeys!

Music appalling side came up after main meal had been served. Tea stale and staff did not even acknowledge we were there will not go back

Not like it used to be. I used to love a Wimpy as a kid. The place is quite tatty looking with torn chairs. The food arrived and it was luke warm, watery eggs, the 'pork bender' was not the same as it used to be it was a chipolata and was straight, not rounded like it was years ago. I sadly won't be eating at Wimpy anymore. Also quite overpriced for what it is, practically a premier inn breakfast.

Surprisingly good. Haven't been for years. Food lovely and fresh and staff very friendly. One meal came significantly later than the rest however staff gave very frequent updates and apologies.

Service was lovely, but food is overpriced. 30.00 for two people! Quality of food was really a let down.

Been eating happily in here on & off for years and it's one of the best kept secrets in Lakeside especially if you want to avoid the crowds in the food court.

My partner and I visited as a result of nostalgia. The customer service was brilliant (all staff were really friendly and approachable) but the food was nice but somewhat underwhelming. Honestly, I wish they had more options from the old Wimpy menus. I would love to say this is somewhere I would visit frequently or even for a second time, particularly as the staff are great but for the total cost of our meal (£30), I don't think I could consider it money well spent.

I absolutely love this place for breakfast, it's cheap, it's super good and best of all, the staff and service is amazing, prompt and efficient

Let me start by saying the food was actually pretty decent (although ridiculously expensive for what it was), the restaurant itself is old and tatty, the seats were all ripped and it really smelt like used cat litter, wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience. Toilets were also out of action which was rather inconvenient.

Bit pricy but great service, got seated straight away, plenty of staff and place was clean. Only down side was my sausage ring for my all day breakfast was extremely over cooked on one side, guessing it had been under the heat lamp all day...... Otherwise all good.

We sat for 35 minutes and they couldnt take an order.The staff was only chatting and didn't even bother to to work.Wouldnt recommend at all.

Be very wary when paying your bill here. Came with the kids and had lunch. The bill came to nearly £60. It seemed a lot so after paying I asked for a receipt, the lady asked which one, till or card. I asked for both. The till receipt wasn’t itemised, so I asked for an itemised one which was folded and handed to me. I looked at the list and there were at least 6-7 item which weren’t ours. I pointed out to the lady that the item were wrong. Oh ok she said, I think it got mixed up with the people who were sitting there before you, I’ll give you £10.50 back. Straight away she knew the right amount to give back in cash. I took the money and added up and checked the bill afterwards. Might have been a genuine mistake, but seemed a bit suspicious to me.

No Wimpy bars near me in Gravesend, so try to pay a visit whenever I'm in Thurrock Lakeside. I have been there twice in the past two weeks with two different family members whilst over there Christmas shopping. On the most recent visit, there were two young lads and a lady serving. All were very good, and the food arrived promptly, no doubt in no small part to the excellent 'back room' staff keeping on top of things too. Our first visit this time round we were served by a young lady, and I think her name may have been Demi. She was an absolute delight and ended up chatting to us during the quieter moments in the restaurant. It is this interaction between customers and staff that can make all the difference when choosing a place to eat, and so we will definitely be back. The food and the service was excellent. Well done to all of the staff at Wimpy Lakeside!
