The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

under new ownership, it is much better, the last landlord was a total bellend.

Table booked for 4.00pm, we weren't seated until nearly 3/4 hour later. We were told that if they took the order whilst we were waiting , the food would come out as soon as we were seated. This didn't happen, it was more like another 3/4 hour. Food was good apart from the Yorkshire pudding which was doughy and cold in the centre. Dessert was lovely. I would want the service to improve before even thinking of returning.

Visited the star for dinner. Food was hot and fresh and very tasty! Good value for money too - some great deals on the main menu. Staff were exceptionally accommodating and attentive. Excellent customer service skills and refreshingly very smiley, thank you Georgia and Chaney! Will definitely be returning soon, highly recommend!

First visit for a while - was sent a voucher for a two mains for £20 deal so decided to go for late lunch staff were very accommodating and friendly a special thank you for Marketa who looked after our needs

I cannot recommend this hotel more highly. The rooms were bright and airy, some with sun catching balconies, or seating areas outside some ground floor rooms. The bathroom was light and clean with wonderful shower. Best of all was the attentiveness of staff, without exception The breakfasts were ample portioned and delicious. We also used the restaurant, which was very good with good choices, and again excellent staff attentiveness.

Booked for a big group family lunch. All had the roast which was great quality and value. Limited menu unfortunately however due to staff shortage and this sadly affected service which was slow. Yet we would return as it was very nice.

Popped in for light bite, opted for the sharing small plates. Food was quick and delicious . Robert who served us, was welcoming and friendly.

Pretty good food and atmosphere. Easy to get into for Sunday lunch.

Rude manager & staff. Empty, lifeless bar. Bad value for money. What’s happened to this place? I visit regularly with friends & family, but it’s really gone downhill recently. The food was cold. No decaf coffee etc, etc.

We held a family birthday celebration in the restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff were attentive but not too much. Would definitely recommend it again.

Four of us had a lovely meal, 3 different meat roasts (meats cooked to perfection and well presented) and a very deluxe bangers and mash which my partner loved. We had a choice of desserts, they were all fantastic in their own ways, a real treat. The restaurant was busy, service from the young team was very good, thanks for giving my Dad a meal to remember
