Foxburrow Beefeater in Waveney

A mixture of menu choices, ie mixed grill, variety of small plates, kids menu. All arrived at the same time, and were well presented and hot. Good value for money. Staff were welcoming and checked that we were happy with our meals, which we were. We will be back.

The Foxburrow was gradually getting worse for me, but this visit has confirmed my decision not to visit again. This visit, I ordered the 8oz rump steak with double cooked chips and salad. My wife ordered the lamb roast. Approx 5 mins later we were advised that the lamb was not available. My wife ordered the chicken roast meal. 5 mins later, the manager came over and informed us that we had been given the wrong menu. So, approximately 15mins had passed [plus the time it took for my wife to decide on a third choice.). Because of this time delay, I pointed out to the manager that my meal should not be sitting under a lamp and that it should arrive, fresh, with my wifes'. He assured me this would be the case. When both meals arrived, it was obvious that my meal had indeed been sitting under the lamps. The steak was dry and inedible, the pitiful amount of salad was limp and turning brown and the 5 chips were tepid. I attracted the attention of the waitress, who removed the steak and said a new one would be cooked. Well, what a contrast, I had fresh (and in abundance) salad, at least 40 double cooked chips and a freshly cooked steak, all piping hot. The problem here was that my wife had finished her meal and had to sit and watch me eat mine, (as I did with hers). This was totally unacceptable and destroyed the afternoon. The waitress who made the initial error offered us a drink on the house, which we politely refused, as I was driving. I would also add that I have been using this establishment over the past 2 years and the condition of the mens and ladies toilets are still disgusting. I would recommend giving this place a wide berth.

Today Sunday 10th of November is the first week end of the 'Christmas Menu' I hope the "Chef" learns to cook sprouts and carrots before the great day. The Sprouts were hard and cold and not cooked, even if the sprout is frozen they need to be cooked as they are only 'Blanched' before freezing, but these looked fresh and the one I tried to eat had an earthy taste. Just putting them in the Bain-marie will not cook them. The carrots were soft, rubbery and cold. The Beefeater Lowestoft has been a regular Sunday and occasional weekday dining spot for my wife and myself because it is one of the few restaurant's in Lowestoft that we have not had a bad meal until today.

Stayed next door in the premier inn on a 1 nights stay, so had the meal deal in the beefeater, the evening was lovely and the staff were very on the ball and totally ran the show, breakfast was different - seems to be the manager trying to run the show, but just can’t do it on his own! Took ages to get a good order taken, then a long time to actually receive the hot food - which was a shame as the evening was a totally different experience. We’d booked tables before hand, which I would recommend and the meal deal is very easy to use, as it’s now all paperless!

We stayed next door at the Holiday Inn as we have many times before, but not since Covid. We bought the Continental option for breakfast as previously, as we knew we'd be out and about during the day declining their other meal options which are worth looking at. The continental option has declined drastically from previously and to be honest it was worth paying the extra £2 for the full option on two days. The continental consisted of 2 choices of joghurt some mixed fresh fruit, and some obviously defrosted fruit. There was a fair choice of cereals. Croissants , American pancakes, and pan chocolate. A choice of white or brown bread, Nutella, jams, marmalade, honey, sauces, and Marmite. A choice of 2 fruit juices, milk, with machines to make a variety of coffees and teas. There's a far greater choice if you pay the extra but be specific how much you want or you'll one of everything you ask for. The staff were very young and though they worked hard and tried to be helpful it was a bit shambolic at times with shortages of cutlery, plates, and laid-out food. As I said there are other meal options and having had an evening meal there one night would be well worth looking at.

Great Family Atmosphere, hot kitchen on a late one. FULL Menu, portions massive. Staff exquisite, in particular Hostess with the mostest character. Kirsty. EMMA leaving for higher places. Hayley, s commet all dressed up, Gary another late Tatooine, oh and the guy that rocked up last.. Zero complaints on service.. but recommend kitchen vent cools the caterers better, they are loosing weight ( and they set the fire alarm off in the premier next door, with birthday candles. Wouldnt have gone inn otherwise.. The most fetching, lovely, ever.. family firm. God bless them all. We will return from yorkshire. We had a family breakfast on Sept 7th 09.45hrs. Excellent food and service there nothing was too much trouble to make our granddaughters birthday celebration special. Thanks to all staff

We booked a last minute table when we checked into the premier inn next door. We were shown straight to our table and ordered drinks. Sam, our waitress, was a superstar! She literally did not stop and couldn't have been any more helpful if she had tried! Super friendly!! The food was amazing!! Piping hot, full of flavour and served within a reasonable time. It was a lovely evening for us made perfect by the super service we received from everyone we came into contact with but especially Sam. The breakfast was also very good! Nice, hot and fresh! Served by yet another very friendly staff member (sorry, I didn't catch your name).. Thankyou all, you have a gem in a perfect location and makde us feel very welcome.

Had dinner this evening with family, service was amazing especially from our server hannah. All food came out quick and was delicious!

We ate here whilst staying at the Premier Inn behind. We took the meal deal which covered Breakfast and Dinner. The food and drinks were good and great value for money under the meal deal.

Excellent clean restaurant we had chicken melt for main meal followed by ice cream and an apple Betty pie with ice cream. A half lager and coke. The food was piping hot and delicious. Out server was excellent and even recommended a visit to a village called Beccles ( we are going there tomorrow ) I am afraid I cannot recall her name I think Alison but not sure. Easy parking and whole meal only came to £27. They have a special for weekdays before 5pm

Came for dinner with my family, can honestly say, it was brilliant food very good service was excellent especially from Sam can not fault the place.

Just called in to the Foxburrow for a drink after an afternoon out. As always a lovely welcome from Robbie and his management team and staff on duty this afternoon. Since our move here in 2018 this is our preferred location of "walk to' places to eat and/or drink and not once have we been made to feel unwelcome. We eat there as and when we can and enjoy our food. Actually on our house viewing "recces in the area we stayed here and got the same welcome then. 👍👍

First time visiting here. Must say it was a great meal and couldn't fault it! Great value for money and good food! The staff are very friendly and Robbie the manager was very welcoming and friendly. I will definitely be visiting again when I am around that area. Keep up the great work! 5 stars 🌟

We eat here every time we come up to Lowestoft. Food was good, I had salmon and hubby had a steak cooked to his liking. The chips could have been a little hotter. We were served by Hannah, who was knowledgeable about the menu. She was working her socks off as she seemed to have quite a few tables to serve. She was working very well. The actual restaurant looks tired and could do with modernisation. Would def eat there again.

Great value for money breakfast. Celebrated my son’s birthday at the foxburrow on Saturday evening. The food was delicious and the service was good. My children picked from the kids menu which was good value for money for what was included. Overall a good, pleasant experience for my little boys birthday.

Busy place , well looked after . Perfect , staff members have very high standards, made to feel that nothing was not out the question. It was just simply perfect. We stayed for 5 nights so we had all are meals here.

Amazing lunch, enjoyed 4 starters which was an offer for only £16 will definitely be back, signed up to the loyalty offer as well.

My wife and I were staying at the Premier Inn for three nights which is just behind the pub so we booked breakfast for the three mornings. We have eaten breakfast here before in the past as we have stayed in the hotel a few times but it has definitely gone downhill. My wife booked the Continental and I booked the Full English. The first morning there were very little croissants etc for my wife and with only one toaster and coffee machine meant long queues. The second morning was no better and I had to ask a waitress to take my breakfast order as they hadn't taken it after 30 minutes of waiting. The third morning it just got worse. They kept running out of milk, coffee, fruit juice, plates, bowls, spoons etc and the staff seemed more concerned with getting people seated than restocking, although the guy seating people should get a pay rise or a medal as he was working his socks off trying to restock bowls and sort ot the coffee machine which kept breaking down. We were there 1 hour 15 minutes in total, my wife only managed to get one muffin to eat as they weren't restocking items that had run out which made it an expensive muffin! I also had to wait 45 minutes for my cooked breakfast. We would not recommend going here for breakfast unless you have a lot of time and don't eat much.

Food was ok. The building was dirty and grubby. The bar and restaurant staff were nice. The ‘manager’ was very aloof and arrogant to the point of being rude - spoiled what was an ok experience!

Lunchtime treat, our first visit to the Foxburrow as we were in the area. Will not be our last, staff were welcoming, gave us time to look at the menu and make our choices. We opted for four small plates for £16.99, they were excellent. Chicken gougons, breaded mushrooms, potato dippers and hallumi fries. Kaylan our waiter was professional checking that everything was ok for us.

Went out for a family get together. There are quite a few of us so we don't do it too often. Had a great time, food was lovely and our waitress Hayley couldn't do enough for us. She really made it an enjoyable stress-free experience. A credit to the company

Apart from the worn down decor/furniture. The Foxburrow is a great all rounder. I was warmly welcomed at the front desk and shown to my table. Food was amazing with no faults and I was well looked after by Emma, who provided outstanding service and always came over with a smile on her face. Will definitely be coming back again soon!

Service was fine but portion size is a joke! Got served 6 chips with my main. Won’t be going again! £16.99 for a burger and 6 chips wouldn’t recommend.

The Roast Lamb was beautifully cooked with the best roast potatoes I have had from any restaurant. Emma looked after us very well, nothing was too much trouble for her. We're looking forward to coming back soon.

Came in for breakfast yesterday and was very impressed with the service by Stacey also Robert both a credit to your company also food very good prefer cooked to order rather than buffet.

Visited here around 1pm on a Thursday afternoon. It was not horrendously busy. Found a table at the bar area with no menus. Took a while to find the menus as had to ask someone. When ordering food and drinks the service was very slow. My friend ordered hers first by the time her food arrived I was still waiting at the bar to order my own food and drinks. Seemed very under staffed and was disappointed.

Great service. Kaylen was our waiter. Really patient with my father who suffers from dementia. Fabulous service from this pleased young man who is a credit to your company.

Just wanna say how welcomed we feel everytime we visit by cloe all staff are amazing but the two that stand out are cloe s and Samantha Moore always smiling and always remember our face so polite! To be brutally honest most beefeaters ive been to are terrible but this one is great. All staff are friendly with great service (yesterday we were served by Sarah, again brilliant service). The food is very good aswell i can see why its always busy.

I been in the beefeater for the last 2 weeks for business purposes, mainly served each evening by Sonya. Food has been great and Sonya has proved to be extremely efficient, kind and has a great smile.

Decided to go the whole hog and have three courses with getting 40% off the main course. Popcorn cauliflower, root veg Sunday Roast and churro sundae for afters, was fab. Praise must be given to Abbey the waitress for being so friendly and efficient.

Sam was our waitress for the evening she was very friendly and made us feel very comfortable throughout the evening.

I have to say I am pretty surprised to see so many positive recent reviews.We regularly visit this restaurant when we are on holiday in GY and it is one of the most hit and miss places I have ever been. The restaurant is on several levels and we love the building. Food is usually good (and cheap) but the service can vary massively!More often than not we have been the only ones in the place and still had to wait forever to be served and to receive our food. I will say we do keep coming back as the food is usually nice and the price is good for what you get. Booking online or by phone seems to be essential as when we have turned up in person we have been turned away despite the place being empty!! I would say we visit approx. 10 times a year (in the holidays so peak time) and it is never very busy so we are always surprised with how slow it can be. We will be back again soon when the weather improves and hope that things have improved.
