The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

We walked in here to try and have some some food for a lunchtime meal to which we was told no, however what we eventually ended up seeing was terrible, and decided to get up and leave immediately. Just a very unpleasant experience of a pub and certainly would not recommend to anyone.

We had a steak and ale pie, and sausages and mash. Both were big plates of good food. The pie crust was fantastic! The staff were really friendly and helpful, offering my husband a sample of the cider to try before he bought it and having a nice chat before we left.

Absolutely loved my first experience at the countryman lovely bar staff and the food was absolutely glorious. I’d 100% go back again.

I can only confirm the wonderful reviews I read, I drank very well and ate even more. Outstanding staff you feel like you have known them for a long time, genuine quality food, if you are in the neighborhood you should definitely stop there. I recommend the lasagna or an authentic "pasta al pesto."

Visited whilst in the area for business - popped in for snack lunch

Went for family Sunday lunch. For a local pub the food was excellent. The cauliflower cheese was a real winner. Will be back

Great friendly gastropub in a beatiful village. We really enjoyed our stay here - there are two shepherds huts in the garden so we were able to enjoy afternoon drinks in the lovely garden followed by dinner, more drinks and then bed! Andy and the team made us feel very welcome, including our dogs. The huts are very comfortable and well equipped. Good value all round. We will be back :)

After being let down at short notice by another venue, Gemma, Scooby and the team very kindly accommodated a family party of 24 for my mum and dads 60th wedding anniversary. The food was amazing, and the staff were brilliant with nothing being too much trouble. A very enjoyable evening had by all and most importantly a special night for my parents. Highly recommend!

Having moved into the area we were delighted that The Red Lion has reopened. The food and drink is, excellent and we've found a very friendly welcome on each occasion. Well done and thank you!

This was my first visit to The White Horse and must say just how pleased we were that we went. I will definitely be going again.

It is an absolute pleasure to visit a pub with well kept ales that are gravity served. If only more pubs would take the time to do this. There is also a selection of excellent sandwiches on tasty, fresh bread. The main courses were good. I recommend the Powters sausages.

Thr attitude to customers from behind the bar needs some serious improvement. A pub is a place to enjoy and socialise and not be on the recieving end of aggressive insulting behaviour

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Rose and Crown 👍 We went along for a music event and chose to also eat there. Good honest pub. No frills. No airs and graces. Friendly staff Good menu Fair prices We had the chicken and veg pie with mash and the scampi and chips. Proper food! Very tasty. Followed it up by two ice-cream sundaes 👍
