My little girl is very fussy with her fish and she ate the whole lot my little lad had kids sausage meal and I only had some toast but my husband had a breakfast it was all cooked to perfection staff was friendly and service was good and fast

This was a really lovely place for food, quality was beautiful and good portion sizes.The chips I have with my meal were beautiful, much preferred over the usual chips you’d expect at a fish and chip shop, unsure if they are a permanent type or replacement due to delivery issue, but would highly recommend keeping them if not.Would recommend here to anyone wanting a lovely meal at a low expense. Plenty of different options offered.Thank you!

Greeted and explained how to order and that we needed to scan track and trace on the app. Covid friendly. Certain tables were out of use to maintain social distancing . Food was lovely and hot and freshly cooked. Fast efficient service and friendly staff.

Spouse and myself popped in to the seachef in great yarmouth for the traditional fish and chips, we both had cod and chips, portions were large, the staff very polite and helpful. All very safety and covid aware. Seen continuous cleaning in progress, I believe it is a family concern. We should support more of these great outlets. Will highly recommend

We were in Yarmouth for a few hours (hot on the beach) on a Norfolk staycation this week, but wanted to actually have some fish and chips out of paper, sitting in the sun on the promenade, people-watching.....and we came here and were not disappointed at all.£6.50 for a massive piece of cod and lots of chips (I pay £8.50 where I live for a 3/4 size fish)....the young man serving was very friendly, efficient and happy, and so we shared a delicious, well cooked, lovely fish supper like when we were children visiting the seaside.I WOULD RECOMMEND GETTING YOUR FISH AND CHIPS FROM HERE !

Visited the seachef today for my lunch was very enjoyable and being vegetarian they managed to cook all my food to order in palm oil for me veggie burger and chips was very enjoyable...staff were there at the entrance to greet and explain the covid setup before being seated ...very helpful staff and the manager was very welcoming and had her team of staff working effectively and efficiently....will definitely be coming back

Out of this world service, very friendly staff who meet you at the door as you come in and explain what we need to do in the one wat system. When making our order at the till was greeted by a lovely lady who was the manager who explained what to do next, so very helpful feels like a family run business always happy to help. When seated only for a short time food came with all sauces along with happy staff, they came back five minutes later to check all was well with our food. Food was fantastic!! We will be back for the food and the very helpful and happy to help staff. Keep up the good work up in these hard times, your showing a lot of other businesses how to do things the right way.Kind regards the best family

We went to great yarmouth for a weekend away, whilst down the seafront we popped into seachef for a meal this was on the first day. what can i say covid set up was good all measures had been taken to cover safety of the customers and the staff, the place was clean and tidy, the food was amazing, I had fish and chips that was cooked to perfection.Seachef is a great place for value for money.

Food is 5 star always high standards and good presentation. Staff are kind and courteous always happy to help. Clean and tidy good value for money

I have never wrote a review before, but I felt the need to do so as the fish I had yesterday was out of this world. It wasn’t dry or oily. It was cooked to perfection. The staff are kind and considerate Even in these dark times of COVID and always keeping busy and cleaning non stop, guiding others on social distancing, and their one way system. Which I know from experience is extremely hard. Throughout the year of me eating there. The manager has been outstanding how she manages the staff and is on top of everything paying special attention to detail. Even in busy times nothing seems to be missed. I would recommend this to anyone of my friends or families that would like an extraordinary service And outstanding food. Top marks and without a shadow of a doubt, anyone who goes in there won’t be disappointed.

Staff were so polite and the food was great! Social distancing was adhered to. Only issue is the fixed seating, a little tight if you are on the large side!

we arrived for lunch and all 4 of us ordered jacket potatoes which were a good size and very nice indeed along with the fillings.. I will point out that i ordered coffee, white coffee please and a latte was brought out. i said i never ordered latte just white coffee so it was taken away then promptly brought back with the reply white coffee is latte. Couldn't be bothered to argue so just drank my more expensive latte. Just bear in mind owners you have dropped from a potential 4 to a 3 because of this.

Went for a quick bite to eat with my family and the quality of our food was absolutely fantastic and the service was excellent and surprisingly quick would recommend to anyone looking eat some fish and chips.

Popped in for some dinner today whilst wandering around the sea front. When I arrived I was greeted and the lady explained I should find a table, decide what I’d like from the menu and then order. I did this and the server was very friendly again. A lot of young staff and all were courteous and smart.The food, haddock, chips and mushy peas, was lovely, as was the cup of tea. Nice swift table service and all much better than I’d anticipated. I’d eat here again without hesitation.

Must be the worst place I’ve ever stepped foot in, I’m surprised with the hygiene they can still serve “food” as they would call it. The burgers come out black and taste like rubber, the pie was soggy and the chips come with lovely black burnt bits:/. Let’s not forget how rude and disrespectful the manager was!! STAY AWAY

Went here for my daughters birthday meal and the staff went above and beyond especially as I have autistic children they accommodate their request ..all the staff was friendly especially lady on till and the food was lush defo m’y go too café now

Visited with my family for some chips today and to our disgust we found a hair in one of our portions of food. It was definitely not one of ours as it was the opposite colour of hair to ours. The restaurant is also very dirty and the chairs are almost like bus seats. There is a lack of drink options and the place is in a desperate need of doing up. The staff were friendly though and did give us a refund on our food.

We had an amazing lunch here on a sunny afternoon the portions were a good size and the food was so tasty

Came is and asked about gluten free and the dog. Boss made us fresh food and in veg oil so good for the gluten free.

I'm usually wary of restaurants located on a town's seaside pier - poor food and indifferent service seems to be a prerequisite for these prime locations. The Sea Chef, in Great Yarmouth, surprised me, however, and proved me quite wrong. I don't know whether it was because it was early (11am) and the staff were not rushed off their feet but the service was quick and friendly, the fish n chips and saveloy n chips were great and value for money was extremely reasonable, given its location. Only complaint is, we couldn't find the toilets and had to use the public ones further along the seafront. From reading other reviews about the toilets, this may have been a blessing in disguise, as apparently they are highly unpleasant. A shame they cannot invest in this, as they have executed the food and service quite well.

Food wasn’t up too much. You get what you pay for. The prawn baguette wasn’t good for a restaurant so close to the sea. And as for the toilets, if I was you I’d wait.

I have eaten here before but only as a ‘take away’. Myself and my family decided to sit in and have some food. The portion sizes were good and the food was delicious, tasted very fresh! Its a good price considering it’s close to the pier. The only thing I would say that could be better were the toilets, no sign posting and they could be done up/ cleaned a bit better.

Generous servings of fish and chips and very reasonable prices considering it's on the pier, compared to other cafes nearby. The one thing I would say is that the toilets could be better signposted, as we had to ask a member of staff, as it was behind a fire door

It was a few decades since being at Great Yarmouth and as I saw this place, the memories came back.

No frills cafe serving delicious fish and chips. Food cooked fresh. We come here every time we’re in Yarmouth. Kids meals great, near the beach on the pier. Only let down by the loos!

Came here Sunday could not fault the food i had place and chips daughter had fish cake and chips husband had pie and chips we shared mushy peas and curry sauce really friendly staff not bad price would come back if in the area.

Memories of great yarmouth as a kid came flooding back 35 years later ,looking for somewhere to get a cup of coffee we found this place.

We have been to the Sea Chef on a number of occasions and never been disappointed with the Fish and Chips here. Fish and chips are nice, freshly cooked. and portions are a good size. Further, staff are very helpful and friendly. Furthermore, there is wheel chair access. The restaurant’s is located at the entrance to Britannia Pier, Great Yarmouth. After our meal, we have a stroll along the Pier. Yes, this is ‘value for money’ fish and chips, so I am very pleased to recommend and give five stars.

We thought as this looked busy it would would be worth a go. What better than and fish and chips by the sea side. Waited over an hour for our meals, tables were sticky and filthy. Food all over the floor. Coffee served in filthy cups, waited 20 mins after 4 requests for a fork as they were none left, staff said sorry we are busy! When the food eventually arrived it was disgusting, the fish was half batter half breadcrumbs, it was like was rushed, chips were soggy, the fish was worst ever, black and full of skin. Nothing flaky about it, was all slimy like half cooked. Do yourself a favour, avoid whatever you do, eat elsewhere, there is plenty to choose from.

Me and my family visited this restaurant for a quick lunch by the sea, under the impression that sea-side fish and chips is always good.

Absolutely delicious food, great variety. Huge portions, super value for money. Kids meals only £3 with great choices. Staff amazingly friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Best wishes from Wednesday evening Londoners x

The worst breakfast we have ever had.egg like rubber everything was cold and looked like it had been cooked hours before.

Good place to eat Cooked fresh batter was just rite chips not greasy plenty off condiments vinegar was leaking no ketup or brown sauce Seating really needs redoing cause if your overweight due to health reason you will not fit comfortably see photo attached

En realidad me encanta el pescado y patatas fritas desde aquí, siempre bien cocinada, abundante y sabe muy bien. Nunca pedí nada desde aquí. Su la comida mi familia tenía buena pinta.

Servicio de atención al cliente era mala, que no nos dijeron donde estaban las cosas, había que levantarse para cubiertos, azúcar, etc. Un montón de personal permanente y no ayudar alrededor Yo soy la parte positiva, la comida estaba bien.

Después caminamos en la playa y con hambre a la hora del té, decidimos probar el mar Chef. No la peor decisión de mi vida, pero muy regular de pescado aunque chips muy sabroso!

. . Y nos intenta comer aquí cuando estamos en Yarmouth. El pescado y las patatas fritas son excelentes y es una buena relación calidad-precio, y mi último comentario es 5*.

Popped in for lunch for 4 people. We were easily seated and the restaurant was clean. Food was served quickly even though it was busy; portion size was generous and the food all hot and tasty. Good value for money, will come again.

We had lunch here today as was near Britannia pier and as it was past lunchtime we thought we would give it a go.2 adults, 2 children plus 3 drinks was £18 so certainly budget friendly and the place was very clean.The food was average, it wasn't great but equally there wasn't anything terrible about it.

Right on brittania pier freshly made fresh chips fish or any other meal it's fresh and good value for money staff friendly restaurant nice and clean and in prime location next to the beach,kiddies mini fair with lots of rides amusement arcades next to here then after your meal take a leisurely stroll along the pier or sea front.

I don't know why but this immediately took me back to my childhood. I was born near the coast and I guess it was the seasidey feel to it when we used to be treated out as kids and always always ended up with fish and chips. Came with friends after a day of fun on the beach and we were ravenous. Did not disappoint! The food was superb, cooked to perfection and we all left suitably sated.

We ate here twice during our October holiday. Staff were very friendly. We had fish and chips. The fish was of a good size and chips right consistency. The only reason I am not giving 5 rating is because we sat behind the drinks machines and there was dust on the back of them . It's such a shame because the food was excellent . Just needs a bit of TLC to surroundings

We dont normally use this restaurant when we are in great yarmouth, but we fancied a bit of a change. What a mistake that was, we ordered 2 cod & chips and 2 bottles of oasis drinks which cost over £15. We though that as it was a bit pricey it should be good, wrong the fish was a bit on the small size for the price, & batter on the fish had a distinctive grey colour which we chose not to eat. The chips all though plenty full were mainly very small and so crispy as to make them inedible. The only good thing to say about this place is its next to the ice cream shop.We will not be going back.

Arrived at Great Yarmouth quite early and decided to stop for a breakfast first. Every time we have passed this cafe it is packed full being early it wasn't so we decided to give it a go. Service at till quite slow but we were only ones in there breakfast wasn't really quick but there is a notice saying everything is cooked to order which is good as it was fresh and breakfast was the best one I had had in the area all weekend. First place kids food came out first too which is better. Coffee was not very nice opt for a soft drink.Not an extensive menu but I would recommend the all day breakfast

I absolutly loved my pie mash and gravy it was amazing. Definatley value for money. It was real home made food for all the family. We are family of 8 and our food came quickly and was hot. Super friendly staff. Excellent work guys. Thoroughly enjoyed.

So so restaurant with so so food. .. Good price, service average and food arriving within a good time.. Just needed a Lick of paint and air conditioning....

We had an excellent family meal. Children's meals good size portions and adults. Very reasonably price. All our food was good nicely and presented well and the chips are excellent well cooked and lovely and crispy. Staff were very accommodating and very pleasant. I have and would certainly recommend this restaurant.

Nothing was bad about this place but nothing was wow either. The food was hot and edible but not the best we've had either. The chips seemed to be the dregs as they were all very small. The wait was reasonable however the tables were still dirty from the previous people and the highchairs were also filthy (cleaning both before we used them myself). Reasonably priced with quite a few seats indoors. The servers could have been louder when calling out orders.

Shame food took so long to arrive as it was a fair breakfast once we got it. Reasonably priced and staff generally very pleasant.

Staff very friendly food was really good and great value for money drinks where reasonable priced over all pleasant experience and I would eat there again for sure when fish comes out its not great on the eye so you need to taste it before taking back as the batter very crispy and tasty

We had a lovely family lunch with fish and chips and nuggets for our little lady. The fish was really good and the chips were very nice as well, nice atmosphere, lovely staff and a great view out to the beach. Recommended.

Decided to pop in to the sea chef for lunch today, two adults and one fussy 12 year old. The menu choice has something for everyone, the service was fantastic, despite being very busy. Big praise for all the staff, constantly clean and serving. A definite must if you are along the seafront

Traditional old school family fish and chip restaurant. Excellent locally caught fish cooked to perfection, served with fresh chips and a small salad at a fantastic price.Staff are very polite and friendly and there seems to be a varied alternative menu to fish. Overall, it is a throwback to what a seaside chippy should be, not the pretentious, licensed, over priced places that seem to be opening elsewhere

Visited Weymouth and as we were both hungry called in to this place for some lunch. Upon our arrival we were shown to a table and sat and waited for about seven minutes when another customer came in with two children who was shown to a table opposite us. After another five minutes of waiting the waitress returned and took the food order for table who had recently just arrived. We aired our disgust at this and the waitress apologised but still didn't take our order and went off to the kitchen area. Following another lengthy wait with no sign of the waitress we decided to vacate the establishment and find an alternative place to eat. Certainly will not be returning again.

Really don't understand how this place has so many bad reviews I found the food excellent chips were made from potatoes & cooked to perfection as was the fresh plaice had mushy peas, not charged for tarter sauce The Restaurant is a family run establishment & I found every one who worked there charming & very polite certainly the best meal for value & quality I have had in Great Yarmouth Well worth a visit.

I live in Yarmouth and whenever we have family visit we normally have a meal in there. Great value as kids only eat for a pound. Well they did, kids meals are now £3 for 3 nuggets and a handful of chips, also wasn't happy that a family came in with a dirty little hairy dog, myself and my aunt are allergic to dogs, looked up the laws on dogs in restaurants and they are allowed if it does not interfere with the prep or cooking of food, in this case I believe it does, the kitchens are not out the back behind closed doors the kitchens are open kitchens, part of the restaurant so how is this allowed, think environmental health might have to take a look.

Eat here reguarly staff friendly and food good value for money, Don't take all the reviews seriously.

We popped into this establishment on the off chance after a long walk around Yarmouth, I didn't think it looked very nice from the outside, quite dated and the inside was just the same but I thought we'd give it a try, after all how bad could it be? Right on the Britannia Pier it must serve some decent fish and chips right? Wrong, they were awful, the fish tasted of nothing the batter was greasy and the chips were not very nice at all. The whole experience left me feeling quite ill. The kids wanted some ketchup with their chips - to help give it some taste and were advised that it would cost us 10p per satchet we declined, but were then surprised to see another family given ketchup at no charge! All in all I would not recommend this place at all and really wish I had seen the previous reviews so we could have avoided this place!

Good food. Brilliant prices. Friendly atmosphere. Reasonable portion sizes. Whether eating in or taking away also they have a variety of meals. Only problem there were no sauces on the table.

After a tiring morning on the beach & pier, we picked this for lunch. Family of four, 2 adults and 2 kids, one aged 7, the other 2 - all ready to eat! Nice and clean appearance, picked our own seats, back to the 1960s but still does the job! Can watch the other tourists go on and off the pier whilst waiting for your order. Top of the menu is all fish related, however there are salads, cromer crab specials, paninis and all other alternatives you can mention. Ordering is done at the counter and then a ticket is given with a number for you to listen out for. Toilets need to be signposted, as no signs in sight and the entrance is through a door labelled as fire exit!! Clean enough facilities but NO baby change - inconvenient. Food arrived in good time and the kids enjoyed the staples such as sausage, beans and chips, I had the traditional fish and chips, choose haddock but had to have cod! My wife selected the baked potato with salad, this was a proper jacket rather than a microwaved or deep fried one!!! Generous size portions all around, I did find the fish a little too greasy, but it was freshly cooked rather than sitting around on the hotplate all day!! My only personal bugbear was, being a longtime addict to tomato ketchup (Heinz only but am being persuaded by other brands thanks to the austerity cuts), is that here you have to buy sachets!!! 10p a sachet will only suffice two chips or a mouthful of fish and the issues of opening them, either not at all or splattering everywhere!!! 10+ sachets later and there is just enough to cope with the appetite. Good value overall and friendly service.

Visited here during our family holiday and food was lovely staff were really friendly and chatty and made effort to say goodbye when we left we all had something different and kids ate for £1 all our meals were very nice fresh and hot would recommend

We enjoyed a lovely family day out in Great Yarmouth today. Sea Chef was our final stop before leaving to go home, convenient for us at the time. We couldn't eat our meals, the cod was black throughout on the inside and inedible, chips were ok except most of them were scraps. We complained at the time to be told the fish was fresh! Food was disgusting and we will never eat at Sea Chef again!

We popped in for a quick bite to eat but gave up in the end as we waited so long for our food that we only drank here (and that took long enough).The place wasn't exactly overflowing with customers (which should have been our first hint during the busy summer season), but we were hungry so thought we'd give it a bash.... what a mistake to make!We ordered our food (one all day breakfast style affair and a pie and chips), got our drinks fairly quickly but then started the wait. We thought this wouldn't take long as there were only 2 other tables being used and did ask how long it would take as we had tickets for an afternoon event which we really didn't want to miss. They said "not long" but the couple on the other table highlighted they were told that for a similar order and were still waiting 25 minutes later.We then opted to ask them again and cancelled our food part of the order (they moaned but as she hadn't even handed it over to the kitchen I can't see the problem).As we sat there the other couples food finally come out from the kitchen and let's say I'm VERY glad I cancelled my food order. The food looked awful and quite frankly how hard is it to cook chips! The other couple made a few comments to the staff but this was just ignored. As we left the other couple came out with us having left most of their food and commented to us that the chips were nearly cold and obviously of the frozen variety, as they really hadn't been left cooking long enough. Soooo glad I cancelled my food!So in my honest opinion stay as far away from this place as possible.... it really isn't worth taking the risk of picking up something worse than just plain old bad service!

Just like so many of the other reviews on here i cannot think of one good thing to say about this place. Lets start with the four chicken and chips meals which were served with the some of the chicken still pink, when taken back they just offered to reheat them, they are not polite, they were rude, oh and top of that we had to change some crockery as it was dirty, Seriously the reviews on this place says it all really.Personally i would not step near the place ever again!!!!!!

We popped in for a coffee and waited half an hour. The coffee arrived twenty minutes after my daughters' food so most of the 'quick' stop was spent waiting. In the end my husband had to go and ask one of the FIVE counter staff for our drinks. Beware- it wasn't even busy. There was one other table with people on.

Service is absolutely rubbish. Food absolutely rubbish. Manager does not care and did not want to come out to talk about the sub standard food.

Me and my hubby are staying in Great Yarmouth from 25th July - 27th July for our wedding anniversary.We ate in this place on 25th July and my husband who is disabled was on his mobility scooter, with enough space to get the scooter in. I had fish cakes + chips , my husband had Plaice + chips food reasonably good although best fish cakes I had tasted.26th July in evening it was raining so decided to go back for another meal, worst choice should of got wet and went elsewhere. We didn't want the same as previously eve so my hubby had Chicken + Chips,I had Spring Roll + Chips. So when I get mine and cut into the spring roll it was vegetarian I expected to find meat in there as nothing was stated on menu saying it was vegetarian. Did not enjoy the meal neither did my hubby.What made it worse was we had a bit of difficulty getting the mobility scooter up the ramp and the staff were just standing chatting watching us so were customers which made me feel uncomfortable.If it wasn't for weather then we would of gone somewhere else.

What can I say..I can't really judge on food because I only had a schmoo milkshake but my gosh, do places like this still run!? Clearly they do. It's a typical dated greasy-spoon chip shop with the plastic chairs connected to the tables that you struggle to get in and out of whatever shape or size you are. Cleanliness is rubbish-crumbs on the floor, crumbs on the table and it just looks so dated and old and .... minging. There are much more classier places about to eat than this 'chip-hole'

I've eaten from here quite a few times in the last few years and not a bad meal yet. For the price you don't expect 5* diningI think the chips are nice and the cod is lovely, plaice was massive, sausages basic but I didn't expect them the be good ones from a butchers, kids meals adequate. Lovely older man in there think he may be the owner? Lovely man

Stopped here for a spot of lunch and was absolutly disgusted with the whole experience. The customer service was completely none existent, your rushed to make your order and your made to feel unwelcome. As soon as you've taken a seat the staff are stood round waiting for you to leave so they can clean the table! The food was not fresh and the crisps that came with my cheese sandwich were stale! Also be warned there is NO baby changing facilities available what so ever!! had to use my pushchair!

Went today for lunch with family, non of the staff smiled or had an ounce of basic customer service. Ordered my daughter chicken nuggets and chips- they have the option of having beans- which I said no. Once food arrived, there were beans on her plate, stated we didn't want beans, they came back 5 mins later with half the portion size she was just served with- they'd just simply scraped all the food that was covered in bean juice- minus a chicken nugget & half the chips, they'd even replaced with the plate with a smaller sandwich sized plate! I complained that that wasn't good enough, they've just binned half my child's portion because THEY got the order wrong, no offer of any money back or a simple apology- the useless waitress who was afraid of actually using any speech, informed us that they simply wouldn't cook 1 chicken nugget!No acceptable! They're mistake in the first place & still no apology was made. Shocking. Won't be going there again. The crisps used as a side for sandwiches were also stale.

We stopped there because we were a little peckish and thought what's sea front without having chips. We made a grave mistake of deciding to have chips there, most hoorible chips i've ever seen. Stale, cold and dismal is how I'll describe what we got. we were served the already fried chips which they didn't evr bother to microwave. The vinegar bottle was leaking, the tables were dirty and the staff doesn't like to smile. I'm happy, we didn't order anything else there.

Popped in for a supposedly quick lunch. Ordered two sausages and chips, fish cake and a pie. Had to wait approx 15 minutes for this to be prepared. Restaurant customers get priority. They didn't even start cooking ours until the previous order had been completed. Plenty of other cheap and actually cheerful eateries in the town. This one is just able to trade on its position. Sausages had obviously been sitting there for some time as well.Avoid.

It's what you would expect from a little cheapish café near the seaside. I had chips with mushy peas which was lovely. Chips were lovely and crispy and I got a massive portion, much more than I could eat. One of my friends had chips with gravy and savloy. Chips and gravy were lovely but savloy wasn't much good. My other friend had cod with baked beans. Batter was nice but fish was a little watery inside. Overall a reasonable lunch at a reasonable price

This place is disgusting, the food gets served under cooked and when questioned if the fish could be replaced with one that wasn't still 'soggy' on the inside and outside their response was "that's the way we cook it here". Totally unacceptable, DO NOT EAT HERE! I shall certainly never be going back!

Had to wait quite a long time for cod & chips which was odd considering it was lunch time. I can understand waiting off peak times as i would rather have fresh food than reheated but at lunch time it seemed odd. When it came the fish was very greasy and the chips had a lot of small scrappy bits rather than chips you can get hold of and dunk in gravy!Just did not enjoy it at all really which was a shame.

After eating here my children were so ill, the food was disgusting the fat smelt old and gritty and my partner had already been back to complain about the nasty looking, hard set pie that was served to him. We got takeaway and most went in the bin. Also because so many people were poorly we have reported them to enviromental health.......absolutely disgusting and ruined the last day of our holiday.

Ate here yesterday as it was the close by and the children were hungry. Unfortunately for us we paid for the food at the counter before collecting cutlery and finding a table as we would NEVER have eaten there after seeing the state of the toilets (absolutely filthy and NO soap)and the cutlery tray which didnt look as though it had been cleaned in a while as there was dried food spilt in it. That was before we had even sat down at the sticky tables. Customer service is non existent - after ordering you are left standing not knowing what to do as no-one tells you to find a table and the food will be brought to you.The man wiping the tables was using a filthy bit of cloth - no antibac spray to be seen here! He went from one table to another without rinsing the cloth. He then went on to wipe the tray of a highchair...............The food took 30 mins to arrive and was disgusting. Grey fish, soggy batter, the cheapest disgusting sausage for the children (they refused to eat it as it was so tough), scampi which was cold in the middle (my daughter didn't eat it so went hungry rather than risk re-ordering) and a horrible fat filled fishcake rather than the fish fingers we had ordered. I could see the lady washing up by hand in the kitchen so I wasn't surprised that the cutlery was still dirty. This place is a disgrace. Avoid at all costs

I come from Scarborough and was brought up eating really fresh fish so I tend to be a bit picky when it comes to F&C but these weren't at all bad. Hubby and I had cod (they didn't have any Haddock) and chips, bread and butter and a drink each. The fish was reasonably fresh, white, moist, flaky, and well cooked. The staff were really nice and friendly despite the fact that I asked if the fish was fresh before we ordered ( I'm sick of being served fish that's grey, dry and tastes as old as the hills).The rest of the food was fine, would go back again if we were in the area.

If I'd have read some of the reviews on here first my wife and I would probably not have eaten here. However, we went in and ordered, and glad we did. We just had the fish and chips ( one plaice, one haddock) and it was really good...freshly cooked, friendly staff, quite large portions and arrived quickly. It's at the front of the pier and quite basic, but clean.

Visited this place for fish & chips when we visited Gt Yarmouth last summer. Have to say I'm surprised at so many negative reviews. People are apparently requiring a 5* gourmet food experience from a seaside fish & chip cafe! Not gonna happen. Go to the Savoy and order £60 posh fish & chips if that's what you need. I also reviewed Harry Ramsden's and that was a bit posher,yes but not value for money compared to the Sea Chef restaurant. It was busy but we still got served quicker than HR's, the food was very decent quality as far as I can tell ( not being a Michelin qualified food lovie or anything ). It was as good as any other local takeaway fish & chips you've ever had in your life. Decor, again was sufficient. It was at least clean and not falling apart. Best part of visiting was that the portions were huge and we paid much less for 3 meals than we did atHR's. Again, this comes down to expectations for me. Its GT Yarmouth, its a pier fish & chips cafe, trying to feed the hordes as quickly, efficiently and with the best value possible. I for one think they hit the nail on the head and would definitely go back next time I visit GT Yarmouth.

visited this place with my family because we wanted fresh cooked fish not frozen.so what did we get? watery bland fish cooked from frozen the chips were not to bad though.service was ok i guess but the whole place is old and needs restoration. 4/10. lets the pier down come on sea chef you can do better!

This so called restaurant is the worst place Iv ever eaten, they didn't have the first 3 things we asked for so just ordered fish and chips, the chips were white a dry, I'm pretty sure they had been recycled!!! The apparently locally sourced cod was tasteless and grey , quality cod should be pure white, this visit resulted in a very poorly tummy, do NOT eat here and the service was terrible too!!!

I have visited this place twice this month, simply because everywhere else was packed. My first visit was awful, the server took order and money and didn't even tell us the food would be brought to us, so we where left standing there like idiots.Second visit we knew what to expect, but the girl at the counter explained, very politely, that the food would be brought over. On both visits we had a plate of chips and sausages for the kids, chips where just ok but the sausages must be tesco value, no taste at all!This restaurant unfortunately does let the seafront down, and there are so many little things they could do to improve.

Absolutley terrible Gordon Ramsey would have closed it down there & then chips were anemic & were hardly cooked fish was saturated & dripping in fat.My sons chicken nugget meal came out ( 3 OF THEM ) & because he saw what the chips looked like did not want any.What an absolute joke 3 chicken nuggets can you class 3 chicken nuggets on their own as a meal?Give this place a seriously wide berth & go to Harry Ramsdens just down the road their alot more polite & your children are given a proper meal aswell & not just 3 chicken nuggets.

We leave local to Gt Yarmouth & on day there with family we thought we'd try this restaurant it was the worse food we've had! My husband had fish & chips, chips were not cooked & the fish dripped with grease! As for a kids nugget meal I don't think 3 nuggets count as a meal.Safely to say we will not eat there again!

cooked to order brought to your table . price was decent , good portion of fish served with a smile ., could ask for more .looked after priceon the child meals .will beback soon

Food wise I've had an awful lot better than this. Prices are average.The place is a little bare, clinical looking & out-dated - certainly needs some modernisation & a serious injection of personality added to it!Out of the (huge!) windows all I could see were arcade-type machines - so not the best views.Service could be a little more welcoming & friendlier.Overall it's your typical touristy seaside place to eat. Nothing special.
