Harry Ramsden's in Great Yarmouth

We went to Harry Ramsden's for a fish and chips afternoon tea. The servers April and Hollie were excellent as are all the staff. Will definitely be going back again soon.

Great Yarmouth waited 25 min ordered cod chips x2 £25 fish dreadfully small mentioned this to girl on counter we weigh our fish shrugged her shoulders walked of very very small portion though it tasted good poor portion size for the money and value don't think I would use again

Afternoon Tea with Prosecco was a different and very enjoyable meal and a change from tea and scones. Food nicely presented, flavourful and hot. Hollie our waitress was friendly and helpful and explained each item presented to us. We would recommend the afternoon tea to anyone - great value for money too!

Had a day out in Great Yarmouth on Thursday and popped into Harry Ramsdens for my tea. Couldn't fault the service and the food was gorgeous. It is the place to go for eat in or take away. 🙂

Was served by Hollie who was absolutely lovely and very accommodating. Food was lush and timely.

What a great experience, Tara was a lovely person, very polite, helpful, done well to run this on her own at front of house . Would definitely be going back at some point. Service was very good to . And was at a reasonable price.

I loved my trip with my friends the young waitress made me a very special Eton mess with biscoff a really kind and pretty girl ! And the older lady was very kind and lively also

If you’re not white, do not step foot in this place unless you want to be looked at sideways, spoken to rudely and abruptly, have staff sigh in your face or mutter under their breath when taking your order… but when serving white customers they are full of smiles, patience and jokes. Especially the larger blonde woman and older lady, completely rude. Food is so average, nothing special can find better elsewhere but you lose your appetite even more when you are presented with this kind of service. Don’t waste your time.

Tia and Tara were excellent. They made sure we were seated and pointed out we could use the QR code to order if we wished. Food was brought out to us with a smile and they also interacted with my 2 y.o which made him happy.

It was our first time in England and our first time trying real fish and chips. If you want to know the true flavours of fish and chips, this is the place to go. We loved everything, it was unforgettably great!

So I just went to harry Ramsden and it is by far the best fish and chips I have ever had in my life the price is a little pricey but for that you get a really long battered fish,a normal sized portion of chips and you get a free side too which I took the beans and it’s absolutely amazing.I will definitely be going again next time I go there

Was bought fish and chips afternoon tea as a gift. Uncertain as what it would be but it was amazing. Good choice of food to eat and the same with dessert. Would certainly recommend as an alternative treat or present. Hollie at the Great Yarmouth shop was warm friendly and made us feel very welcone.

My meal was very nice and the service was brilliant considering there was only two people working and were very busy. I am not a big eater so the nice man serving allowed me to have a kids meal which was more than enough

Good Al round deal great food and good service

Waited over 30 mins for my order, then after querying this, half of the order had been taken by someone else. I then had to wait longer for the replacement items but was given the skinniest bit of cod- didn't justify the £9.50 I had paid. My friend's order was completely lost even though they had paid. Very poor organisation and service. Won't be eating here again.

Nice view of the promenade, very good fish and chips and curry sauce. Tara’s service was excellent.

Food and service standard was top notch. Female on duty was alone and managed a full restaurant with grest aplomb whilst remaining pleasant, helpful and unstressed.

Disappointing experience in a restaurant that felt more like a very average seaside cafe. Fish ok but chips were less than average. Poor quality ice cream to finish. Gave up waiting for the cup of tea.

All good apart from mushy peas were cold.

Food was surprisingly good considering we was expecting a sit in chippy. Service was good and fast. Atmosphere was.. well bland. If they can find a way to improve the atmosphere it would be a solid 10 out of 10

Lovely chips. Tasted buttery, and the curry sauce was great. Would recommend if you fancy something light for lunch.

Excellent food and good service

Shockingly slow takeaway service for all orders from the dedicated counter at the Great Yarmouth store and the quality of the food was shockingly bad. The chips in particular were soggy and greasy and done looked like they’d been hanging around for a VERY long time. The sole person taking orders seemed to have no sense of organisation or urgency and - when another customer asked where the bread roll was that she’d ordered, he left the counter for a good length of time, went out the back of the shop, and when he came back said it would be another couple of minutes as it was straight from the freezer! Harry Ramsdens don’t deserve (or want) your business based on this experience. I’d also suggest they seriously rethink the idea of putting a card asking you to leave a review in the boxes as this will be what happens!

Staff were friendly and welcoming, food well presented and cooked. Our experience of Afternoon Fish & Chip tea was good value for money and highly recommended. A special thanks to Daniel who served us and the chef Izolly. Thank you.

We had a good lunch here, they seated our large group quickly and the food was decent quality. Good children’s menu with good portion sizes.

Popped in on a busy Saturday afternoon to get one of the last tables available. The waitress was really friendly and welcoming, and I wasn't mithered with bloody vegan menus. Portion sizes were spot on, and it was delicious. As I left, there was a queue out the door, that's always a good indicator as to how good it is. I will be definitely going back next time I'm in Great Yarmouth.

Came to Harry Ramsdens as we know the name and expect a certain quality. The interior is very dated and in need of a refurb. The service was very slow (we went mid week) and some things on our order was wrong. When the food arrived it was hot and decent so overall 3/5

Dated interior .dirty carpet. All needs a blood good clean . Staff good food good. But disappointed overall. Won't take much to bring this place back to top spec.

As you can see from my previous reviews I'm not one to moan for the sake of moaning however, We attended harry Ramsden in great yarmouth last month and we all wish we hadn't. I have Been wondering what to leave as a review about this place for a while as it still annoys me. Where to start, we had a table for 9 and a highchair booked in, and when we arrived only 8 seats had been provided, we asked spoke to staff who said just grab a chair from over there and you'll have to squeeze in... right ok fair enough it's a Saturday and it's busy however there should of been enough tables and chairs provided in the first place. We waited a while for the staff to come and take our order, I ordered a Stella shandy and a glass of tap water and 2 people on the table ordered glasses of orange juice. The server who had either had a bad day or was just in general miserable then brought out to me a very flat looking beer and when I asked is that a shandy the server said in a very monotone voice that it was, I then tried it and said to him it's not a shandy and he argued to say it was, another person on my table tried it and then told him again that it wasn't so he then went and changed it by I think just pouring half away and adding in the lemonade as even with the extra bubbles it was still flat but i couldnt be bothered to ask anymore as it was all clearly to much for him to do. The 2 that ordered orange juices, we had told this same server we were missing drinks and he said I know im just getting them,well dinner turned up and still no drinks, we had to ask another server to get the drinks we ordered by which point most of the meal was done, as for my tap water well that never appeared at all! Honestly food was meh nothing outstanding chips were very greasy I left nearly all of mine and the curry sauce was watery, the cod however was nice. Overall... I wouldn't eat here again as I know there are several other fish and chip shops on the seafront and I would rather eat out of a bag on a bench than go through that again. And as for that server he either needs to be taught about service with a smile or should be kept outback preparing food because if your paying these prices service should be top priority, i would just like to add the other servers were all friendly!  but if your paying these prices the service should be top priority.

We came for afternoon tea for my daughter 40th birthday there was 12 of us it was amazing food brilliant service by hollies and the team would defo recommend and will defo be back thanks again

Wowcher Harry Ramsden Deal - Absolute disgrace the deal is not what it seems, I ordered 2 vouchers for 4 people Maximum stated on offer, but you cannot book 4 people via wowcher link, it shows as fully booked till the end of time, asked for a refund which I received minus the £4 non refundable admin fee..They have a limitation on people which they don't state. Also you can't check availability until you buy one. Customer Service for Harry Ramsden is non existent sent Complaint and after 5 days no reply,, they Couldn't Give a monkeys once they have your money.. Wowcher didn't Wow me at all .Rubbish from Both Parties.. Avoid.

Very very disappointing !! Heard very good things about it and when it came I was not impressed. First of all service very bad forgot things from the order and blamed it on other things. I ordered fish and chips, well the fish tasted absolutely horrible and did not taste fresh at all, the batter was worst I’ve ever had and was definitely an over cooked bit of fish. Curry sauce was cold. The food was served on the smallest plates ever couldn’t even cut anything without having to move stuff onto a napkin. Did not specify curry sauce was lumpy which I think is a big thing. Ordered a hot chocolate which just tasted like manky day old water with some cheap hot chocolate powder. Ordered sausages and it was NOT hot all the way through. It is simply to cook these sorts of food if u can’t do it correct don’t do it at all. Cutlery was dirty and not matching. Overall do not recommend to anyone coming to Great Yarmouth fish shop next to arcade looked 10x better.

Just a lot for average food, but can't moan about the service

Grabbed a quick lunch of large Haddock and chips. The fish and chips were quite perfectly cooked. I took a takeaway and then sat out in the open outside of the restaurant as it was sunny, with a good view of the ferry's wheel and rocket ejector play rides opposite of the road 🙂. In all, I liked the whole experience and would recommend it.

Was given a voucher for afternoon tea. My wife and I went and it was certainly an afternoon tea with a difference. The service was excellent and the food selection very good, would highly recommend it.

Great fish and chips, lovely helpful staff

Had fish and chips twice last week at Harry Rsmsdrns in Great Yarmouth. Although closing at 8 they were turning people away at 7 already. People were very disappointed.The wines we wanted were out of stock. When the chef went outside to bring in the banners her clothing was disgraceful. However the food was ok.

We purchased the afternoon tea as something different. Have to say did not dissappoint....food was well presented and delicious. Our server Hollie was friendly and helpful, nothing was too much....100% return

Thought I'd treat my daughter after a day out based on the reputation of the brand. I had the sailors supper which turned out to be a skinny strip of fish coated in soggy undercooked batter that was way too thick that tasted burnt. The chips were greasy and Luke warm and looked wilted as if they'd been reheated which was surprising as they were apparently really busy and the mushy peas were cold. My daughter's battered sausage was so greasy that she said it tasted of cooking oil and had a mouthful of oil with every bite. The service was really slow - we'd finished are drinks before the food appeared. To be honest it tasted like either the oil needed changing or the whole thing was not cooked properly. The waitress asked if we'd enjoyed it so I politely told her no it tasted burnt and like the oil needed changing and she was very defensive and quickly handed us the bill! Both my daughter and I left most of our meal as it tasted greasy and burnt. Will not be returning here again!

Sorry but very average. We had side dishes of chips and sausage in batter which by the way was a lot cheaper than a main meal, don't know why. Sausage in batter was OK, well cooked, crispy batter but nothing special, chips were very disappointing, not crispy, tasted like they had been kept warm certainly not fleshly cooked. This is Harry Ramsden the world famous chip shop. You'd think they could cook a good chip but on this occasion they didn't.

Fish, Chips and mushy was perfect. Hollie was friendly and very helpful with great service. Definitely worth the visit!

I bought the fish and chip afternoon tea for my hubby as a Christmas present and we finally got round to booking it. We visited for a lunch time booking and on arrival were shown to a lovely table with a good view of the marine parade and the sea by a really lovely waitress. She took asked what drink we were having with our afternoon tea and we both chose the coffee which was really good, nice flavour and not weak. The afternoon tea itself was really good, the mini fish fillet burgers were lovely, the mini fish cakes were divine and had proper chunks of fish inside, the sausage, onion rings, fried pickles and chips were delicious , hubby said the mushy peas were great and for me the curry sauce was the best I've had in years. The wait staff were all really friendly and nothing was too much trouble, they even put ice and lemon slices in my glass of tap water which was a nice touch. The dessert section of the tea was fabulous, the banana fritters were the best I've ever had with crispy batter and still firm banana instead of mush and the bread and butter pudding was delicious and fruity. My only niggle and it really is just a niggle is that the plate with the biscoff sauce and custard pots on had a lovely sprinkle of chocolate sauce on it and while it looked pretty the pots left chocolate sauce on the table which hubby panicked about and made sure to clean up. The toilets were nice and clean and while there are steps down to them they weren't too steep and there is a good hand rail. We were really impressed with the service and the food and will definitely visit again

Tara is amazing. We went on Monday for my partners birthday, we were the only ones in the restaurant. Tara gave just the right amount of attention while still letting us be on our own. Tara explained the app as well and was more than accommodating. Keep up the good work, Tara! Hollies and Sophie were absolutely amazing! They were welcoming and accommodating to my fiancé's birthday treat as he doesn't eat chocolate cake. They came out with 3 scoops of ice cream with candles, you made his day! Thank you. Honestly, this is the BEST Harry Ramsdens I've been in and I keep coming back every year just for this restaurant

Its was a sunny Monday and we chose this place for no particular reason. As overseas tourists are not familiar with this chain and on reading the reviews can see that they are very mixed. Drink prices were a little on the high side but we enjoyed our mixed seafood platter (usually a starter I think) which we shared and was plenty for two for lunch. The place was surprisingly full for a Monday however service was efficient and friendly. Not haute cuisine but certainly fine for a Monday! No complaints.

Couldn’t understand why it wasn’t packed. Hollie was lovely after a stressful parking experience. Very friendly, all food was delicious and amazing value. Super clean too! The Afternoon Tea was never ending :) Won’t want to eat again today now!!

This was very disappointing. The potatoes were very poor quality so couldn’t eat a lot of the chips. Overpriced for what it was. When I complained about the poor quality chips the staff just said they weren’t getting good quality potatoes from the supplier but still charged me full price for the meals!
