The Regent in Great Yarmouth

We had a couple of ok Steaks Toilets a bit of a mission , upstairs. Good service by a keen young lady . I wouldn’t go again though 🤷‍♂️

We left an hour ago. We told them my mother was a coeliac and was will get ill if she had gluten. The waitress and chef said that the roast was, I questioned the gravy as they seemed to think it was just the Yorkshire pudding. They told us they had a separate gravy for it, guess what they lied!!! My mother is now vomiting and it’s ruined our holiday, stay clear if you have a dietary restriction or allergies. Not happy

Just had a lovely meal , great main, wonderful dessert and our waitress Kotryna was great fun with her hint of humour and sarcasm, we appreciated it very much, would recommend

RATS!!!! we visited last week in Aug and saw a massive rat run from bar area to under the stairs, server squealed and bar staff told her to shut up as we'd hear, and that they don't normally come out when people are about so clearly there aware of them, shame really as the food was lovely

Well visited here for tea and ended up with poor communication between the two staff members who came to table twice to ask if we had ordered. When finally got our tea veg was cold there was no turkey on plate just mush. We complained got price of meal back but for prices they charge not value for money. Wouldnt reccomend far better places to eat

Overpriced, said soup of the day was tomato and basil, gave me minestrone cuppa soup in a bowl and charged £8 for it! The food was bland, the service was OK but very obviously new to the job.

I wouldn't even give this restaurant a 1 star! Sevice was horrendous. Food worse than a microwave meal and well overcharged for what you get. The owner was also very rude. The owner made me feel like a criminal because my bank would not authorise payment at 1st until I acknowledged I was making the payment (fraud prevention safety action) and I had to wait 10 minutes before trying again. Obviously I patiently waited 10 minutes in order to pay the bill, I show the waiter and owner what had happened and asked for a beverage whilst I waited. The owner was very hostile and did not allow me a drink whilst I sat and waited to pay the outstanding balance with my two children may I add. I found this extremely embarrassing and insulting. I do not understand the reasoning behind this as I clearly was only killing time in order to pay my outstanding bill. I offered to show my bank balance as reassurance, show him the message I received from the bank to prove why this had happened and the response I recieved was most inconsiderate and there was zero hospitality or empathy. This inconvenience was not my fault and I was made to feel like a scam artist. A little understanding goes a long way. I most definitely not be returning and would also be telling all friends and family to avoid.

The staff were inexperienced. Stood on my foot and didn't apologise. Couldn't understand English very well. I ordered lamb shank, it had little to none seasoning and the veg resembled the microwave in a bag type. The mash was like smash from a packet. The price I paid for this meal I'd have rather gone to KFC or mc Donald's. I do not recommend this restaurant and I'm surprised they are able to run as a business. Shocking is an understatement.

Thin slices of reheated beef and lamb, served with aunt Bessie's Yorkshire's and roast potatoes, then drowned in gravy. That tasteless that even the addition of salt and pepper could not save it. The BBQ burger was ok.

Had a meal here two roast beef dinners with a pint of lager and a large diet coke the service was slightly slow but the restaurant was busy and there was one member of waiting staff so it wasn't an issue. The beef was tender and veggies well cooked the downside was everything was drowned in gravy and the Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes well let's say that I think everyones favourite aunty provided them but all in all a good meal ... Not sure why a large diet coke is £4 and a pint of lager costs less...

Asked for dessert menu and told ‘il be honest we will take a while as it’s busy now’ really!! The restaurant only had 4 tables with people on them

Staff did well although did forget we asked for squash and brought pure orange juice for a 18 month old. Food was not as expected. Expected thick grilled pork chops for £15, but they looked and tasted pan fried,bit dry and also very thin. Spaghetti carbonara was also very bland.

Friendly staff,clean as a family of four we had roast dinner and drinks good food and a good price. We would definitely eat here again.

Shocked to see all these 1-star negative reviews. We were there last week and had a delicious meal, the spicy meatballs were very nice and the cottage pie was excellent, and the sponge puddings were lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful. I recommend this place to everyone, they don't deserve such bad reviews.

Myself and my fiancé was on a weekend away to celebrate our engagement. We went to the restaurant to have a lovely meal, first of all we noticed it was over priced, but was willing to pay the extra, because we was celebrating. But to my discuss, when I asked for a child’s menu (because I’ve had a gastric bypass and can’t eat regular size meals) I got told by the waitress that she had to go and talk to the manager. She came back and said sorry we can’t do that! So we done no more and told her to cancel the drinks, and left. It was there loss because just for the 2 of us we would of easily spent over £70 on food and drinks. So we went to a lovely place down the road, where we was welcomed with Open Arms!!!! It was called the Alexandra Restaurant, it was a lot cheaper and the staff where very very friendly. So if your a small eater, do not go to the REGENT RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!

We visited The Regent on 15th September 2022, I had the Lamb Dinner and my husband had Liver and Onions plus a side of Cheesy Garlic Bread. The Regent got extremely busy while we were in but the waitress was very attentive and checked on us and checked our food was fine when we had being served. She went round all the whole restaurant checking on everyone who was in asking if she could get anything for anyone and if everyone 's food was OK. Our meal was very nice and filling, we didn't find it over priced compared to the prices you see on the front. I would definitely recommend the Regent as a place to go to eat.

Went for a meal ,place was busy they couldn’t cope ,over an hour waiting for food and when we got the food looked microwaved and wasn’t very nice don’t no what took so long ! I visit Yarmouth regularly and this was the first time I had ever used this restaurant, and it will certainly be the last. Rude doesn't even begin to describe the staff's attitude. From the moment we sat down me and my partner were spoken to like dirt and a complete burden to them. Considering the place was basically empty you would think they would be grateful for the custom. Avoid like the plague, go next-door to the Arches they know how to look after their customers.

We came across this restaurant by chance and they managed to fit us in even though they were fully booked. There were nine of us dining so we were pleased as we hadn't booked a table. We had a positive experience. The food was delicious and the choice was really good. The kids meals were reasonable too. It's a shame quite a few of the reviews on here are negative as we had quite the opposite and enjoyed our meal out.

Disgusting customer service, shame because the food was good…wouldn’t say it’s worth the price but there we go! we went in with our 2 children, felt judged as soon as we walked in felt uncomfortable the whole time, felt like she was giving us daggers every time she spoke to us, and then when we asked for the bill she took the money and brought back our change didn’t even get a thank you or a bye! one thing I like about going out for food is being made to feel welcome, if you are the same I would avoid going here, couldn’t wait to get out of there to be honest!

We went here two days ago. We were greeted by a waitress who treated us as if we’d ruined her day for even breathing around her presence. We were unhappy about the overpriced menu but decided to just get on with it and order. 20 minutes later after talking and laughing with my friends, we were told by the manager in quite a degrading manner to keep it down. There were only two other tables occupied and if we’d known you’re not allowed to talk whilst dining we wouldn’t have bothered setting foot in there. We decided the rudeness was unacceptable so we paid for our drinks and left without eating. Do not go here.

The worst place ever me and my friends were rudely and aggressively asked to stop laughing and having fun! The waitress was rude and miserable, other diners also agreed that the way the owner spoke to us was well over the top! Waitress was so rude - made the whole table feel uncomfortable like we where a burden - 50 minute wait for food - some was Luke warm - food over priced. Fish and chips - served without lemon or peas? When I asked about both told Peas are extra charge. All other food mediocre for cost. Was here 4 years ago and we ate there 3 nights in a row but it is not the same.

Had a weekend away with the wife. Came across the regent restaurant, and what a find. The food choices are normal for the a seaside town. What makes this place is the food and the serving staff. Food very good quality and a good size portion. And on top of that the 2 female serving staff were absolutely brilliant great humour and banter. Which made our second night out for dinner a no brainer, back to the regent. On arrival. A big smile and a welcome back. We were shown to our table and they even remembered the drinks we had the previous day. Small things like this go a long way. Will Definitely eat there again when returning to great Yarmouth.

The food is excellent. My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for many years and not once have we had a bad experience. Staff friendly (particularly Romy), food freshly cooked, nice and peaceful.

Totally disgusting, had food poisoning doctor said after a week of vomiting and diarrhoa from here. Rude staff ( swearing) and overpriced. Glad to see the regent was still there, sadly, some of the cafés and restaurants were not open,we were made very welcome by the owner?. Seriously over priced for what we got. Steak was cooked well but chips were limp and onion rings oiley. My 'homemade' dessert was still frozen. Poor service, below average food for the price. When I asked what the soup of the day was, the response was "we sometimes have tomato or leek and potato so one of those". My husband asked for chicken and bacon pasta, a chef special, to be told it takes a long time to cook! When we asked her to check the time she didn't seem to want to, she came back with 20 minutes, when this arrived it clearly wasn't freshly cooked. Don't be fooled with how busy this place is, it's definitely not due to excellent food.

9 of us went to a restaurant to treat the kids on our holiday, 4 adults and 5 children. One of the kids pizza had hairs in. When told waitress about it she acted nervous. The orange squash was disgusting, we said to the staff we wasn't paying for the orange juice and the pizza and so the manager came. They started swearing and shouting infront of kids. Terrible service, over priced, archers and lemonade 5.50 it says 4.00 on the menu so it 1.50 for a splash. The splash was as big as a tea spoon. Food not good, inexperienced staff. I had a mixed grill at 19.95 not cheap and I didnt want the liver, so I asked to skip it and have it replaced by an extra sausage. Didn't realise that they where going to charge me 1.50 for something that costs 6p, as I didn't have the liver. Was here last August and it was fantastic. Hence why we returned as we now live here. I had the seafood platter , £40 the half lobster was very small 4/5 mouth fulls at best and was like rubber , the crab claws were dry beyond belief even the prawns tuff as old boots tasted like they had been cooked at the start of service and left under the hot lights , calimari/whitebait and scampi all cheap frozen and fried not imprssed atall lucky if it priced up to £10 just poor quality and really badly cooked when we live on the coast and have abundance of fresh local seafood there's no excuse , I've had a seafood platter in most local places and usualy fantastic this was terrible the worst I've ever had the chips were the best bit . Partner has lasagne and chips that was ok but hard to get wrong . Shame they seem to be reliant on holiday trade but we're local had enjoyed it before but not impressed atall £70 bill for 3 drinks a lasagne and a very poor quality fish .

Has a ramp at the entrance so as I was with my disabled mother decided to try it. Was greeted pleasantly enough but was told we could only sit in front of the entrance. The guy there did not want to put himself out or move any furniture even though there was only 4 groups of people in the restaurant and a place could be easily made further back. Exact words were “well I don’t know what to say” basically it was in front of the door or nothing, so we spent out money elsewhere. Disabled users I wouldn’t bother if I was you. Places like this really should improve customer service. We’ve all had a bad year, get better!

We chanced this restaurant during a visit to Great Yarmouth in early September, having not looked at the reviews that were submitted just days before (looking back now, the restaurant received some not so good reviews prior to our visit!) We thoroughly enjoyed our meal....

Lucky to get table as later people were queuing to get in. Food was very good, staff were helpful. Would eat here again.

We ate there one night in August and twice when we came back this time. It is very popular so it is a good idea to pre book. The staff are great and the food very good and plentiful.

Was able to get a table as a walk-in. Staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. We didn't wait too long for the food, and it was well cooked and delicious. There was a good selection on the menu. Would definitely eat there again and recommend...

Toilets very dirty the dust has been there since lockdown , food not good mussels overcooked every light was missing a light bulb
