We had a great evening with delicious food, friendly and efficient service and a good atmosphere in the restaurant. It’s really useful to have the table for the whole evening for interval drinks and the prices were reasonable too.

Our first visit since the revamp and we weren’t disappointed. The food was beautifully presented & very flavoursome; service was slick and appropriately timed by young, friendly & efficient staff. It was spotlessly clean with a good ambience, so a great way to start your night at the theatre.

Food very slow to arrive. A couple of waitresses looked as if they didn't want to be there - didn't smile once. Ordered Appletisers - when arrived they were clearly NOT Appletisers as tasted completely different and were wrong colour. Very small glassful too. We had 2 courses for 18.00. Soup was lovely but 1 arrived without bread - another without butter. Soon rectified. I had the roast chicken which was tough and had no flavour. Took ages to attract a waitress to ask for more water. Allowed over an hour but ran out of time for a dessert due to slow service. Not much atmosphere or décor - quite impersonal.

We came with a group of ten for a family Christmas meal before the panto. We arrived at 12.45 with the show starting at 2:30. The staff were friendly and attentive. We would say the only negative is a very long wait for the staff to take our food order after delivery the drinks, then another fairly long wait for the food to arrive. We allowed almost two hours for the meal before the panto started and still didn’t have time for desert due to the slow service, we didn’t mind that much but the restaurant lost money because of this. Sadly because it was Christmas Eve there wasn’t the option to have desert at the interval. The chefs wanted to get away and rightly so, who wants to hang around on Christmas Eve ! Having said all that the food was great and we will be back because it’s a nice relaxed atmosphere. Just beware if you pop in for lunch as I have done in the past with my wife that you need to alllow enough time and not be in a hurry. Next time we will just allow more time.

Although we werent going to the pantomine, we booked for our Christmas meal here. £18.95 for two courses or £23.95 for three. I didnt like anything on the starters menu so just had a drink while the others had thers. I had ordered the Christmas Turkey meal, good slices of turkey, stuffing, but the roast potatoes were totally white and the pigs in blankets was pretty anemic too. Vegetables came in a seperate dish and shared between us, not bad, quite crunchy how I like them. Ordered Christmas pudding for dessert and it had been microwaved, but sadly the custard was cold. Coffee and mince pie finished off the meal, but the mince pie was bite size and eaten in one go! Wouodnt go again, but atmosphere was good and the crackers were excellent with little Christmas decorations in each.

Sorry but do like to be honest as can with all my reviews.mains I had the burger wife had chicken and desserts, ginger pudding and brulee, all my food was warm not really hot as would of expected bit like it had come a far way not sure how far kitchen is ? Had a wine and beer, bill just a tad under 60 pound so not bad and service was ok saw on menu says about table being yours all night so available for interval but not told about this or asked if we wanted to order interval drinks which maybe could be addressed, don't think would use again as plenty of better places close by at similar costs.shame as could be much much better.

We normally go to the Assembly House for pre-theatre dinning but thought we would give Kemps a try. It was OK but nothing special, it's quiet small & the tables a little close together but it is reasonably good value; the atmosphere is more café style than restaurant & the seating/tables are rather old fashioned. The staff were pleasant & service prompt & attentive, the food was mostly good but nothing special. I had the crispy prawn starter & pork belly main; the starter was excellent as was the pork belly & accompanying vegetables but the noodles were over cooked & very disappointing & the BBQ sauce very sweet & sickly, I left over half uneaten on my plate. The restaurant was fully booked on our visit so it must be popular with theatre goers, it could become a very nice venue with a little investment & more attention to detail on the food.

But what was best of all, our booking allowed us the reservation of the table for the interval as well: so we could finish off our meal with dessert and a drink during the twenty-minute interval. A very relaxing way to enjoy the whole theatre experience. Had a lovely meal here prior to the theatre Friday evening. Firstly a massive thank you to Chris Stone for accommodating us so much prior to our visit. We weren’t sure if we would make it by 6pm and were able to pre order our food as we were likely to arrive at 6.30pm. We actually arrived for 6pm in the end but it was still handy to have pre ordered the food. The starter of ham hock terrine was okay, far too much ‘jelly’ for me and the bread tasted stale and very dry. Main course of cod loin, bell pepper and tomato risotto was lovely. We had sides too which were all nice. My friend thought her chicken was nice but nothing special. We brought chocolates with us so we didn’t order a dessert for the interval. Very nice restaurant and staff, would return.

The restaurant sits within the Theatre Royal, Norwich. We had dinner before the show. £18 for two courses, or £23 for three. Fairly limited selection (four choices per course) but everything we had was beautifully presented and delicious. Full bar available, but again, limited choice for bottles of wine. A nice touch is that the table is yours for the whole evening, meaning you can come back to it in the interval for dessert, coffee, or just to finish your bottle of wine. You can therefore avoid the crush at the normal theatre bar and the queue for the main toilets as the restaurant has its own. Nicely attentive staff who couldn’t do enough for you. Would advise pre-booking as when we went the vast majority of tables were reserved. Would definitely use this restaurant again.

My partner and I visited before a Saturday evening show due to the convenience of it being in the Theatre Royal. There were only four or five different options for each course but there was enough on the menu that we liked. We had a starter each and a main, both were a reasonable size and the main (steak burger with chips and coleslaw) was very filling. Our other primary reason for visiting Kemps was so that we could pre-order our desserts and have them at our table during the interval. We were both too full for dessert after the first two courses so we ordered a pot of tea to share, then the waitress took our interval order and we settled the bill. After the first half you come back to the same table in the restaurant and your order is on the table waiting for you whether that be tea, coffee, wine or like us, dessert! The tannoy announcements to take your seats can be heard in the restaurant so there's no chance you'll miss the second act. It was the perfect pre and mid show restaurant. The table is yours for the night, the staff are very attentive and you don't have to deal with pushing your way to the front of the crowded bar area or stand in the ice cream queue for ages. Would definitely consider Kemps for any future pre-show dinners...only on a Saturday though as the latest we could get a table was 5:45 so wouldn't be feasible for us for a weekday showing after work.

Suena apetecible ¿no?

Booking is essential and to allow time to eat etc you should aim to be seated by 5.45 for a 7.30 show. The Forum carpark offers flat rate parking after 5.30 - if parking after this time you can pay for your ticket before going into the theatre. The restaurant menu varies seasonally, with a solitary vegetation option. The only item which is constant is the burger which is a good size.Expect to pay £10.95+ for a main course, £5 each for starter and dessert. You should also are order interval drinks which will be waiting on your table for you.

Food quality was rubbish, how much effort does it take to flip a burger? and the manageress created a rushed, harassed too busy atmosphere even though the place was only 50% utilised. The big party we were rushed around on behalf of numbered just six? the food and drink is hugely overpriced for what it is ... I always dine here pre-show but never again.

Our first visit to Kemp's restaurant, and it certainly won't be the last. We decided to book a Boxing Day lunch for 9 family members including three children ( one of whom is lactose intolerant). From the initial booking onwards we had excellent contact with the restaurant, and plenty of notice of the menu available, which we chose in advance. The service was friendly and efficient, and we had a relaxed and delicious meal prior to taking our seats in the Theatre for a magical panto. The presentation of the food was a feast for the eyes (wish I'd taken photos!) and we were able to leave our coats and return for coffee and mince pies in the interval. Well done, all at Kemp's, you are doing a grand job - and thank you!

We always opt for the buffet menu served in the bar when we visit the theatre but please note, it was not available on Sundays when we visited. There is a choice of several dishes and you can take as much as you want of each selection, but you only get one trip to the buffet. This can lead to some interesting selections on your plate at one time! The food is good and the value is good too. We get to go into the theatre in advance of our show and relax with something to eat and a drink. It is always a welcome visit.

I found the greeting friendly and welcoming, the waitress (same waitress all evening which was lovely) to be friendly, accommodating and very efficient. The food was excellent! And what a treat to have the table for the whole evening, meaning that our interval drinks were at our table waiting for us and our coats stayed safe on the restaurant throughout our visit. We recently went to the theatre and decided to have a snack there as we did not want to go into the restaurant.I have to say the food did not really come up to expectation, I had a jacket potato and ratatouille , the potatoes appeared hard and I did mention it to the guy behind the counter but he said they were ok, unfortunately it was the worst jacket potato I have ever had, it was ver dry, must have been there since the matinee performance so it was very disappointing. My friend did not fancy the food so she asked about the sandwiches but only 3 choices so she opted for a biscuit instead. It is a shame as it is a lovely place and atmosphere brilliant but I doubt I would go there again for food.

My partner, mother-in-law and I ate in this restaurant preshow of Damn Edna. We have not dined here before and understand that its quite a recent a addition to the theatre scene in Norwich. We had pre-booked and enjoyed one course each. I choose opted for the burger which was sadly of very poor quality meat and was very overcooked. My mother-in-law’s risotto was VERY expensive £10.50 for the teeny portion served, and we are London City workers so are used to high priced items, but this took the mickey. The service was very good though. This restaurant is what the Crush Room is to the Royal Opera House, otherwise known as the pinnacle dining experience for this venue, however I would say that it really need to up its game if to stop people enjoying preshow dining experiences from nearby restaurants and a cheaper cost.

Very convenient for the theatre with the added advantage of having your table and pre-ordered drinks available at the interval. The service was very good and the general atmosphere of theatre goers give the place a buzz. However, we had chicken supreme and sea bass for dinner which were at best average, the desserts similar. Worth considering for the convenience of the theatre but not for a celebratory dinner.

We ate here prior to the opera on 9/11/13. The pigeon starter was tasteless, chewy and dry. The main course of duck was equally tasteless with a tough wet skin on the top. Just a large inedible portion of wet grey rubber. The red cabbage accompaniment was just a wet flavourless mess. The confit of duck leg appeared to be a potato croquette with a couple of crumbs of duck in it. The only good thing were the chips. We didn't bother with a desert. The espresso coffeee was also served luke warm. I didn't think restaurants still served such bad food anymore. Presumably the meat is cooked in some sort of boil in a bag contraption all in with the red cabbage so it is simmering away warm and wet prior to being served.

This was my first and hopefully only visit to the Cafe/Restaurant at the Theatre Royal, Norwich. The atmosphere amongst the variety of pending theatre goers was pleasant enough but the food was pretty poor. The experience started with Duck/Hoi Sin Spring Rolls at almost £6 which where Overcooked, Dry and the accompanying garnish peppers/onions greasy. It was pretty obvious that they were cooked from frozen. If they has been much harder a trip to the dentist would have probably been on the cards. This was followed by a Grilled Skate Wing with a Caper and other indistinguishable dressing with Boiled Potatoes and micro small Salad Bowl. Where do I start with this dish? Well frankly it was disgusting. The Fish was slimy, absolutely tasteless with a total lack of seasoning apart from being totally overpowered by the bitterness of the caper concoction. The salad bowl consisted of bitter leaves which when I looked hard I managed to find a whole Cherry Tomato cut in two and a slice of Cucumber cut in two but with the sweet seedy part removed. The whole dish left you with a slimy coating and a bitter taste in your mouth.Having a palate that favours sweet flavours, I was looking hopefully on a winner with desert of Lemon Meringue with a Orange Sorbet. Wrong! The Pastry was about the best part. The Lemon filling was flat in taste, unexciting and lacked the sharp but sweet citrus twang. The meringue topping was tasteless and had the texture of cheap shaving foam with no sign of a crispy outer topping. My partner watched them preparing it with a quick skirt round with a blow torch to cook it. The Orange Sorbet should have cleansed my palate to some extent but was horrible without a hint of orange flavour. I suspect the only part of the orange it was made from was the pith. The only good part about the meal was the Coffee during the interval which did at least manage, at last, to get rid of the bitter flavour that lingered throughout the first part of the show.A hugely disappointing experience that I would not repeat in a hurry. I have had more pleasurable experiences eating food that came out of an Army Ration Pack.

Overpriced with disinterested service and the bill brought as soon as we had finished the last mouthful so we had the impression we were expected to vacate.very disappointed as a nice meal before the show would have added to what was a lovely evening at the theatre...
