Great meet for a pre match drink. Not too packed and plenty of room to move around in.

Been here loads of times went in team are always friendly and have a laugh and joke with everyone great range of spirits and some of the best draughty selection in Norwich

Adequate food, but major issues if you have access needs. Despite booking in advance and requesting wheelchair access,, we waiting for a good five minutes before we were noticed and the most antiquated ramp was utilised only to be told “we don’t have an accessible toilet” because of the age of the building” Fine. What have you done about it as legal requirements to make reasonable adjustments? With no apology forthcoming, I asked why this was not made clear on the website and failure to display appropriate signage indicating the absence of an accessible toilet was actually breaking the law. The employee said “I have no power but I will send an email to my area manager now. “ I wonder if it was received,,, No, I was thinking the same. Then the food arrived. Were the measly portions and cold food intended as a punishment of sorts? Thank you very much. I will await your new signage a before considering to return

Just gross, avoid. I can also say no safety with their food. I had a steak sandwich which was super bloody. More a blood sandwich than steak.

Delicious roast beef in The Compleat Angler this evening cooked by Connor & washed down with a few pints of lovely Guinness. 😋 Fantastic friendly service from Sam & Shannon. We will definitely be returning 🤗

Ordered a steak sandwich, and my friend ordered seasoned fries waited 45 minutes on a very dead Sunday at 1.30pm. Eventually, after receiving our food, I opened said steak sandwich to only find i had 4 small slices of meat and half of a allotment of rocket in my sandwich, also the bowl of seasoned fries was half full! For £13.75 one would expect more. Im not a rabbit, but if I was, I would have been in heaven. Service was ok, but no check back

Wasn't here for long as we only used it as a meeting point but the beer was good.

I didn't rank the food as I didn't have any. However, it is a nice pub with a great selection of ales, Fireside for the cold times and their infamous Scrumdown for the Six Nations rugby. It was just a pity that it was cold inside the pub as their heating had packed up, but they did have some room heaters in place but it just wasn't enough. I would have stayed longer if it weren't so cold.

This is a great little spot to visit if you want some awesome people doing what they know best. I was blown away with the level of service, will say faith was a superstar and served me with a lovely smile and awesome character. The food was amazing to. The cheese and bacon burger was spot on, the dipping sauce was lush, Definitely top marks! Will definitely be back.

Came here just after 11 yesterday and had the Steak and Ale Pie, it's a super nice pub with a ton of seating both inside and outside, the guy serving me was also super friendly, it took less than 10 mins for me to get my food which was very fast. The food was excellent and i liked you got to pour your own gravy on which most places don't do, Very well priced since i looked at a lot of other pubs before coming here and this was easily the best prices. Will be returning in the future

Best burger I’ve had from a green king, in a long while, also getting the food delivered to the table by the chef, Aaron , was appreciated, very friendly and helpful.

Came here on the 1st Feb 2025 and it was sensational! Great food by the head chef Aaron and his team! Will definitely be back!

Came in here for a quick beer before a Norwich city match. As away fans we were not meant to be allowed in but managed to sneak past the bouncers. It was very busy as you can imagine but the atmosphere was good. We got chatting to some lovely home supporters who made us feel very welcome.

Wow what a star leanne is, only been to norwich a few times and she gave me lots of information and directions. A real asset to her company, the drinks were perfect and while we didn't eat we saw lots of people enjoying what they had. Can't wait to come back in the summer and sit by the river.

Great pub and in a lovely location we visited the other evening and Ashley was extremely helpful and welcoming. He let my son play darts while we had a few drinks watching the sport on the tv. Would highly recommend.

Held our Christmas quiz here! Miles easier and cheaper than others for event hosting and staff are all incredibly friendly!

Great pub and restaurant, we ordered from the seasonal menu, this arrived promptly and piping hit, the starters where incredible we ordered 3 small plates the squid was light, crispy and lemony just lovely, the camembert dumplings where cheesy gooey inside and crispy outside our final starter the pulled turkey croquettes with a chilli jam are just eveything i needed after a long day. mains of turkey and ham hock pie with greens and mash just incredible, the mac and cheese served with bacon was divine. the brownie was one of the goddamn beat ive had in a while. service here was incredible, polite friendly and cheery contrast to the cold outside. the views here are great too with riverside dining. great place to watch the game and relax. A massive thankyou to Duncan, Faith and Chef Aaron for making our evening so welcoming and warm.

The food was a little weak, the dish I ate was tough chicken, the sauce was very rich, but the accompaniment of fries was scarce, no salad. Very expensive in relation to quality-price. Where I sat the door that leads to the street was damaged, when the wind blew the cold came in. The pub looks good, but needs improvement in the food. They serve food quickly and hot. The desserts are good, but a little weak in quality. Very good beers.

A great pub with a great atmosphere. Me and my friend went here last night and had great service from great Greg. It has a good outside heated seating area by the rider which is beautiful in the summer and they have a great selection of beers. Definitely will come again, it is much improved from the pub I went to a few years ago.

Good stop off near the train station. Better in summer when you can sit outside, but still good selection of drinks at reasonable prices.

Went in as we always do on a visit to the City. Love the Guinness in there as it’s always a top pint. Really close to the train station and great seats by the river. Andy is and the other staff are polite friendly and tentative.

Only had a drink there, easy location for train station and looking at boats on canal, nice place, friendly staff would go there again if visiting Norwich

A great place if every other option in East Anglia is unavailable. Better to go hungry though.

We stopped there while waiting for some friends. Friendly bartender, didn't have to wait long, and we sat outside. It was very convenient that they had outside heaters. We only had a drink each but it was very pleasant. Will definitely pop over again.

Fantastic pub in a superb location opposite the station on the banks of the river. Lovely warm welcome from Duncan who did a great job of looking after us, he even went to the trouble of delivering our drinks to the table. Superb lunch served by Matty. Would recommend to everyone for the great menu, amazing selection of drinks, and lovely staff.

Come here regularly after work and the bar staff are always nice and polite. Great view of the river and close to the train station which helps l.

We came here for drinks and the staff Matty and Duncan were lovely, welcomed us for our last couple of drinks for the evening we all had a right laugh. Will definitely be back again

Went for drinks prior to getting our train. Great atmosphere, good drinks. Toilets a little on the dark side and dryer didn't work but would definitely visit again.

Should be ashamed of themselves. Ordered “House seasoned” fries which cost £3.50. Received at most 10 normal fries with a dusting of salt. If you’re going to charge £3.50 for frozen fries at least give a decent amount. Oh and the toilets are disguising.

Stale tasting flat beer, at £6.10 a pint it should be better. Will not be rushing back.

Compleat Angler should be called complete rubbish! We rang two days before our visit to ask if they were showing the F1 and was told that they definitely will be. When we turned up and we eventually were served, we were told that they would not be showing it because they did not have sufficient screens. No apology, just that is the answer. Thanks a lot! We then went up the road to their sister pub (The Woolpack) and happily watched the F1, drank beer and ate food. I would suggest to do the same if you visit Norwich.

We enjoyed our afternoon tea very much. The service, setting and food were to a very high standard. One must be aware that parking is free but it is necessary to register your car upon arrival to avoid being ticketed.

It's a great spot on the river if you can get the right table on the terrace and it's perfect for the football, if you are heading to carrow road. Just across from the station makes it a popular spot. Not as cheap as it should be, in my opinion.

We had lunch and it was incredible so beautiful and present lovely. Chef looked and was so professional and the staff was so lovely.

"Would you like extra onion rings with your burger?" "No thank-you" Burger (very nice) arrived accompanied by fries and one and a half onions rings (five hundred and forty degrees of onion ring) I was as amused as I was bemused by this.

Steak and ale pie 10/10: merlot gravy was fantastic and chips cooked to perfection. Mac and three cheese 10/10: very yummy and pasta cooked very well Pub RAMMED on football days, had to push 5 people against bar to get to toilet.

Lovely waterside location with friendly staff and a good range of drinks. Shady spots for hot days, perfect for a mid point on a city walk.

Very loud music, was almost given alcoholic drinks when asked for non-alcoholic though, but was quickly rectified, and had a cider I've never tried before, now one of my favourites!

It's okay. Barman wasn't the friendliest, pub itself was a bit grimy & the crowd was full on chavvy.

We stopped for a couple of drinks by the river on a glorious sunny Sunday. It was lovely to sit by the river on the terrace framed by stunning flowers that can be seen in all their glory from across the river. Staff are very friendly & made a fuss of the dog & offered us a bowl of water straightaway. Will definitely be strolling over the bridge again as we want to try the food as it looked really good.

Me and my girlfriend came in towards the end of the night and sat quietly in the corner outside with our drinks. We were made to feel incredibly unwelcome by the staff after the other customers had left. We were repeatedly approached by the doormen, not even being given 5 minutes to ourselves, when the pub was still open for another 20 minutes but was told differently. When challenged about this and asked for 10 more mins, they said ok but proceeded to talk about us from inside. Less than 10mins later the other doorman started running his hand across his neck to me from inside the pub in quite a threatening way! Furthermore one of the bar staff decided to shout at us across the outside area in a rude manner, and started obnoxiously cleaning behind us the whole time. It was over £6 for a shandy so we weren’t really willing to leave our drinks. I’ve never had such a poor experience at a pub and I will not be returning ever again; Norwich has dozens of wonderful pubs, I implore anyone coming to the city for the first time, not to spend any of their time in this one!

Me and my partner came here on a Saturday night after 11, when it was still fairly busy, but was pushed to leave and made to feel so uncomfortable I almost threw up outside from drinking too fast. Although the advertised close time is 12am, from 11:40-11:45/50 we were told to leave SEVEN times, two of those times we were treated quite poorly. It was very impatient and rude. Having worked in hospitality myself, I try to be understanding and respectful but it was hard not to feel disturbed and annoyed. Seems like a lovely place and location but unfortunately clearly came on a bad night :/

I had booked a table weeks in advance knowing there is a concert at the football ground and everywhere would be busy. When we arrived we were told they had sold out of all food!!!! Get your act together you would have known how busy it was going to be today/tonight what an absolute waste of time. And the way the staff spoke to us was as if they couldn't care less and we were the ones with the problem. Wouldn't advise anyone booking or going here ever!

A great must go to pub. Brilliant staff, it's our second year to go there and we use it every day when we are in Norwich. We have not eaten here but I have seen some of the meals being served and they look very good indeed. Great sitting out in the evening looking out over the canal. Definitely go and have a pint.

Had lunch here today, Ordered the Steak Sandwich x 2 and a BLT Sandwich with Bowl of chips All three Sandwiches Absolutely Amazing. Food was quickly served and was hot and delicious. Friendly Staff and very helpful definitely going back next time I’m in Norwich

Great place for a drink whilst waiting for the train. Outdoor area overlooking the river in view of the station clock. I always have a drink here when visiting Norwich by train.

The salmon and cheese fish cake salad was so good I could eat it every day really enjoyed it eating next to the river
