Gone downhill. Rowdy customers. Bar staff apologetic but do not have control of the place and service has dropped considerably. Will avoid until management changes this.

Had two roasts here recently and both excellent. Really impressed. Good value too with some cauliflower cheese Put us in a room tucked away but we didn't care. Some might have done though. The waitress said she'd get us a menu for desserts. It didn't arrive lol. We couldn't fit one in anyway so didn't matter really. Didn't have any change for a tip yesterday which made us feel bad so will give more when we come again. (I thought my Wife paid for drinks but she didn't). So I had to. Anyway apologies and can't wait to return.

Lovely pub, delicious burger and great cocktails

We were there for a wake following a relative's funeral. The food was nice but for £640 it felt VERY expensive. Some of this may have been for the hire of a room but even so there were only plates of sandwiches, cheese sticks, sausage rolls and cake and only 50 I would say were being catered for and so something like £13 per head! I would suggest looking around elsewhere. Parking was also tricky.

Great food, it never disappoints. I was very impressed with my roast, especially cos I’m veggie and the nut roast was homemade and delicious, great veg, definitely one of my go to for a roast dinner in Norwich.

Music a bit too loud, really nice food but errring on the pricey side, very friendly, polite and respectful waitrons.

We were in need of somewhere for some last minute dinner on a Saturday evening, and stumbled upon this place on google. When we arrived we were happily accommodated for. The service was good, the food however, was another level. I did not expect such a high standard of food! The pork belly was to die for. Cooked perfectly. The chicken supreme, bread and butter pudding, also great. Great value for money too. We have recommended The Eagle to family and friends too!

We went to the Eagle for a Sunday roast today and was a birthday lunch to a family member. The roast was delicious both nut roast and chicken roast. Staff were amazing and especially Chelsea and Astrid were so helpful, courteous and attentive. They helped in keeping the cake in the fridge for us and got it in time on to the table to help us surprise the birthday gal! Cannot recommend the pub enough for the roast and such amazing service :) thanks a bunch guys! We are definitely visiting again!

We came here without a booking and were easily accommodated. We were quickly served, and the lovely waitresses were attentive. The food was amazing, and brilliant value for money. We had the pork belly and chicken supreme, and the sticky toffee pudding and bread and butter pudding for dessert. All was faultless. Pork was cooked perfectly, just fell apart, not dry at all. Great portions too. We were very pleasantly surprised, this is a hidden gem which we will be recommending to all.

I organised a family get together in January and we were able to have the upstairs so it was nice and private. There was an area that all the children could sit and play, which they really enjoyed. We all had drinks and a main meal. We didn't have to wait long before the food came out. It was delicious! I'm gluten free and there were plenty of options. I had also booked our Christmas party here which was fantastic so I knew I had to eat here again. The Eagle is highly recommended and we will be back again soon.

Friendly staff, good food. Have been twice in the last two weeks and each time there were items on the menu thar had run out (the sea bream both times) Other than that, I'd recommend. The dishes listed on line are incorrect as there's a new menu from Jan 2024

Totally delicious food, exceptional and far beyond what would be expected from a pub. Service was attentive and friendly. The pub was cold, we were never at a comfortable temperature.

Not so quiet but calm setting. Food wasn't bad, in fact, it tasted quite nice, however, menu didn't offer much variety. Loved my strawberry and lime drink. It was altogether an okay night out, save for a dog barking at me when I arrived. It's a dog-friendly place.

Last night myself and twelve friends .et at the Eagle for drinks to celebrate a friends birthday,we had not informed them we were going.The staff were so helpfull, they put us on a large table even put out jugs of water with out being asked .We were looked after so well despite a large party having there Christmas party in the other Bar.It is a long time since I have been so impressed. A big thankyou to Briony and her team for making our evening.

We spent 3days in lovely Norwich + this comfy, friendly pub was just a long from our hotel. We didn't eat there but called in for drinks each evening. Nice atmosphere + friendly staff.

There were 11 of us in the party. It was a celebration for a family member. We all ordered off the Sunday menu which was a roast. All 11 meals were on the cooler side once delivered. But 4 were inedible and were sent back. They were cold and not acceptable. At £16.95 each it was unacceptable to serve food barely hot. Food was delivered back to kitchen, chef did not come out to apologise, 4 of us did not get our dinner and the other people in the party ate due to feeling so hungry as we had waited sometime for drinks and then for food. We were ‘offered drinks’ when we told staff we didn’t want the food returned thinking this was a kind and good willed gesture. But we were in fact charged £8.95 for these drinks as a cocktail. At the end when we were charged we happened to be £5 short and were told as we were packing up to go, “you’re a fiver short” and staff waving the card payment machine in the air. There was zero goodwill in removing the £5 after completely messing up the food and honestly it was an entirely awkward evening. There was zero goodwill in providing the people with no food with a bad of crips or a bowl of olives. Spend your money wisely elsewhere. It’s a real shame because we have eaten here in the past and half of us went home having nothing to eat.

Went for a birthday lunch with my family, we're seated upstairs, cold with no atmosphere. Service took ages and food was cold when arrived. Meat thin and hidden under Yorkshire pudding, one carrot! Overpriced. Dish of veg (cold cabbage) came out 10 mins after the first plate arrived and that person had already eaten most of his food. Dessert, only ice cream, took 30 mins to come. One member of our party had to leave before his ice-cream arrived due to work. So disappointed and wouldn't recommend.

Relatively quiet as it wast past the ‘lunchtime’ rush the two of us were seated at a table for four which is always an advantage. We both went for the lamb which was perfectly cooked and very tender. Super sized ‘Yorkies’ and loads of veg barely left any room for dessert, but we managed to fit one in; also very nice.The staff were friendly & efficient and there was no pressure on you to finish.

Had a chicken Sunday roast here which was absolutely delicious, and also been here a couple times for small plates, the cajun fishcakes are delicious and as always the sticky toffee never disappoints. Highly recommended

Great food , great service , great atmosphere , couldn't fault anything about the meal we have just eaten . The car park has approximately 30 spaces and is wheelchair friendly . What a gem of a meal. Reasonable price and outstanding quality of food.

We booked our table but unfortunately didn’t get our food until an hour later. When it arrived we were very disappointed cold Yorkshires, nut roast that needed a hammer to eat. Cauliflower cheese like scrambled egg, fat soaked spuds. I have visited before and loved the place but it has gone down hill. As per another review a lady on her own came in 45 mins after us-got served a steaming hot meal in no time. Maybe family of staff perhaps?? An excuse was made for new staff and apparently the manager had only been there two weeks. Maybe train your staff before letting loose on your public!! No apology and made to pay for all drinks we had while waiting for this excuse for a Sunday roast. Such a shame we won’t be back, I have recommended this place many times but will ensure all friends are updated.

A large family table booked - firstly the food took ages to arrive, the portions were mostly very small, considering the prices. The table was never cleared of drinks glasses. No one asked if we wanted desserts, and they couldn't split the bill on the payment system. Not impressed . It was family visiting from overseas and a birthday. Very disappointed 😞

Love this pub. Met a girlfriend there for a quick catch up. Local to both and plenty of parking. Lovely staff.

Called in here for lunch today. The staff were friendly and attentive, and I don't think they could have accommodated us better. The food was excellent, too. Oh, and the goth waitress with the sword necklace was gorgeous. Thank you so much, I'd definitely visit again and knowing that the venue is dog friendly, next time I'm bringing my huskies.

Myself and 2 friends visited for Sunday lunch last weekend. We booked but probably needn’t have worried. I had pork belly as did one friend and the other had the lamb. All of which were really good. You certainly get what you pay for. The roast potatoes very crispy, veg cooked to how I like it and gravy served separately as requested. Also nice to have a roast which doesn’t charge extra for cauliflower cheese! We shall definitely be returning.

Great quality food and good service 👍 only gripe is starters were too big! Could be worse as I took home spare arancini and ate the next day 😅

The place looks very nice inside, there is a big garden and plenty of space to sit there. The food was very tasty, the service was attentive and polite.

My husband and I ate there tonight and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. From the excellent service to the delicious meal there was nothing not to like. Especially recommended is their smoked haddock and leek gratin. Well, done chef, well done staff - 5 stars richly deserved.

Love this pub! It looks great, has a brilliant range of beers on tap, and some funky cocktails! Staff are really friendly and nice, and the food is excellent. Don't go as much as we should as it's not particularly near, but always lovely.

Charming bar staff, good selection of beers, BBQ food is a winner and possibly the best beer garden in Norwich!

The Eagle is a pub restaurant in Newmarket Road, not far from the George Hotel. It’s attractive inside and out, has outdoor dining and I think there is a function room upstairs. We enjoyed the food and ambience, and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Unfortunately it was a little chaotic - serving staff clearly weren’t speaking to each other so we got asked the same questions several times. All very good natured but left us feeling a little uncertain about the status of our order.

Emily was only too kind to serve us when the weather was amazing by bringing the drinks to us in the garden. Proactive and attentive staff are the ones who deserve recognition. Emily is one of those all day.

Went here with friends, we had monkfish, sadly inedible, aubergine slopped on the base of plate was so salty, monkfish was a very small portion, sticky toffee pud was divine tho, where we sat first was filthy, so we moved seats, belly pork was on the menu but not available, this was first choice

Having recently moved quite close to this place, thought I would give it a try. I ordered monkfish, which was not nice at all. I thought it would be a fillet but was 3 of the smallest slices of fish I’ve ever seen, on a bed of I don’t know what? I t was really salty and inedible, the fish was over cooked but I ate it but left what ever it was on . Also ordered fries with rosemary, Parmesan and truffle, no rosemary or truffle just a blob of unmelted cheese. Mentioned to waitress the monkfish portion was tiny and there was no truffle or rosemary on the fries, they did comp the fries but did not mention I’d left all the other stuff on my plate . My friend ordered the burger, which he said was alright, even though the bun was burnt. Nice place, would go for a drink, probably alright for fish and chips or burgers but chef obviously out their depth with more high level cooking .

Went in for a light bite this Saturday afternoon and it was lovely!! The staff were very friendly, the place is very nice and we will be back!!!!

I live in Norwich since five years and I have been in this fantastic pub restaurant only recently. Now, we are going here almost every weekend. They serve very nice food as you can see from the pictures. The menu is rich. There is also a nice garden on the back with tables. Moreover, they are dog friendly.

Food arrived and as it was placed in front of me, the first thing I noticed was a long black hair wrapped around a fry (we are all blonde). I notified the waitress who said nothing but promptly took the plate away to the kitchen. A few minutes later my plate was returned and I was informed my fries had been replaced (not the whole meal). My burger had now cooled down quite a bit but as we were short on time, I ate it. Having worked in hospitality, when our bill arrived, as a gesture, I had expected something (my drink, my meal, or a portion of it at least) to be taken off. I understand these things happen, even with precautions in place. To our surprise there was no reduction or even an apology. We made a mention of this and the server took the bill to speak to her colleague. They spoke amongst themselves and returned telling us that since they replaced my fries, they would not be offering anything further (clearly not even an apology). The server proceeded to say had I mentioned the hair at the end of my meal and the fries hadn’t been replaced, then the meal would have been taken off the bill. She remained quite defensive about having replaced it and that’s where it stands so we left it alone. Paid my £16 for a luke warm burger and won’t be back

Food really good. My Hake and Artichoke was hugely enjoyable and the service from the young girls was also top notch. However the interior resembles a hairdressers, no style whatsoever and the acoustics terrible. Just a crescendo of noise.

Nice looking pub in Newmarket Road in Norwich. Has parking at front. Interior is relaxed and inviting. Garden is small and enclosed but probably inviting in summer. Sunday lunch menu was pretty standard but had most of the things you would want - beef, chicken and lamb roasts, smaller portions for kids, and toffee pudding, brownies, ice cream etc for dessert.

Best Sunday Roast in Norwich...

One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had in a long time. It’s the sort of place where you go thinking “I’ll just have a main” and end up having three courses! Good value, great quality.

I popped into the Eagle last week and the roast was amazing! So good in fact that we booked for this Sunday and I can say that it was the most insane roast dinner!!! Best I’ve had for years and definitely the best pub roast...

Have to say what a great Sunday lunch, really friendly staff snd great atmosphere. We all had starters, very good, mains which were superb and a few deserts which were great. Will return again x

We pop in for Roast dinner, have a lovely table, service was amazing, food was delicious we visited lost of places with Roast but that one was the top of all, definitely will be back, highly recommend this place to visit you not gonna be disappointed 😋

I was expecting more, perhaps that is why I felt a little disappointed. Menu & food was minimalist. Beer & cocktails were good, service friendly. There was an apology on a chalkboard for the renovations in the dining room. I asked if that was why the menu was so small, apparently not. Gordon does say to keep the menu simple I suppose.

Great food, big portions for affordable prices. Can bring your dog along, there's even a doggy menu. Love coming here for their Nut Roast on a Sunday

I usually have the pork when I visit here and the pork is divine however I thought I may try the chicken and although it was nice it was a bit boring, and not as flavourful as chicken can be. My other half had the beef and it was very tough, he had to have a steak knife in the end to cut it. Also there was not much veg.

Really good food, I highly recommend the Norfolk pork belly if they have it! The larger room on the right as you go in feels slightly like it isn't finished being decorated as all of the paintings/pictures/posters are all down at one end.
