Went in for a Sunday roast, greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table. It was a Very cozy & nice atmosphere on a wet December day. We ordered roasts which were superb. Wonderfully presented and a good serving. Lovely selection of vegetables each served in their own way with lovely flavours. Meat was very tender and yorkies were big and delicious. We will definitely return especially to have more sticky toffee pudding. Thanks

Used to eat here a lot, so i was looking forward to reaquainting myself again with this lovely pub.... The food was always exceptional and the atmosphere alive and friendly However, i was bitterly disappointed with the food.. We both had mushroom pate on toast...and it must be the first time in my life that something had no taste whatsoever.. If i was blindfolded, i couldnt tell you what i had eaten. How can a mushroom not be full of flavour.. Also it would be more pleasing to have had little thin pieces of toast on the plate next to a ramikin of mushroom pate and maybe a little garnish....instead of 2 rough thick pieces of toast slapped with the topping.. Main courses ok but nothing outstanding and my stew was a bit too salty.. Service ok, not very smiley and no attentive interest in how our eating experience was.. Some hospitality training would be good i think. No atmosphere really considering it was a Saturday evening. The establishment closed at 11, so it was a surprise to hear a waitress tell the customers she was closing the coffee machine and if we wanted one it had to be then...really? Its a shame the Eagle has gone downhill in many ways...and sadly i wont return. In an age of rising restaurant prices, i expect the complete experience of eating out to be a game changer now.

This evening my partner and I and our 7 year old daughter dropped in to The Eagle for an impromptu supper. The bar man Eoin was friendly, easy going & very much a ‘can do’ guy. 2 of the meals were of a high standard but there was a small issue with the third. Jasmine, who was managing the restaurant, was superb, nothing was too much trouble and the issue was rectified swiftly. The customer service & Jasmine’s professionalism were superb and we want to thank her for her expertise and kindness. We would definitely eat there again and our daughter thought the mint choc chip ice cream was the best she had ever had! 5 stars from us & Jasmine should have a staff award. 🥇

Unfortunately, this venue has really gone downhill... The only lunchtime sandwich option without meat was cheese, pickles (plural) and salad. What appeared was a small section of ciabatta with a bog standard sandwich pickle , a very thin layer of grated (?) cheddar with very little taste to it and a single lettuce leaf. As this would have looked lost on a dinner plate, it was swimming in a thin moat of skinny fries. For the £13 cost, I was expecting a tasty, punchy or interesting variety of cheese - sufficient to taste - and a variety of pickles; gherkins, onions, maybe an interesting chutney, a nicely presented, maybe dressed, mini salad (a bit more than just leaf, maybe spring onion, tomato, cress, red pepper) and a small handful of fries. This is the sort of lunch you used to get at the Eagle. Sadly, no more....

Had Sunday lunch as part of a group of nine for a birthday. Not been here before, but pretty impressed. Staff friendly, very helpful, took orders for food and drinks promptly and we didn't have to wait long for it to be delivered to the table. Food was very tasty and good portions. My plate could have been a little warmer, but that's the only small quibble. We arrived just before 1230 and didn't leave till about 3-30. No pressure or rush to vacat the table and the place was busy.

We had lunch here on a Monday and the pub was unfortunately almost empty. A real shame as the food we ate was very good. We had mackerel and horseradish bruschetta and milano ham (salami) with little mozzarella balls and cherry peppers stuffed with cream cheese. Mains were a Reuben burger and sea bream. So nice to have something a bit different on the menu. The first time we've been here and, particularly as it's dog friendly, with a lovely lady who served us called Liv, we would return. The condition of the real ale needs to be better checked and the pipes pulled before the first serving of the day. There is a large car park and it's not far from the centre of Norwich. Reasonably priced too.

We were a party of 5 at lunchtime and were the only ones there. I had sea bream and the fish itself was nice. However the vegetables consisted of a few tiny potatoes sliced in half and smothered in garlic butter, a spoonful of samphire and 3 grilled cherry tomatoes that were stone-cold. For £19 this was simply not good enough and I came away hungry. Never again!

I’ve visit the pub many times before, but this time it was a bid disappointment. I was exited to meet my friend I have not seen for a while there, however the bar lady told us they had few tables pre booked and refuse to serve us. At first, as I wasn’t really sure if that is what she was saying, but after repeating we would like to eat at the pub, she then again said she cannot serve us because they’ve had few pre bookings. The pub at the time was almost empty and with only couple of customers. It was veryclear that it was due to the fact we were foreign and spoke different language between us. I doubt she would have returned a middle age Norfolk group of lads wanting to eat there…We didn’t want to argue, why stay and spend your money at the place you are not even wanted. After living in Norwich for nearly 15 years I still can’t believe I am facing racism!

Was told we couldn’t order our food until 7.30. We ordered a round of drinks. When the waitress came to us at 7.20 to take our food order (all the while telling us we would still have to wait as they were busy) we started ordering burgers only to be told there were only three left. We started looking at the menu again and then she went away and cale back and said there were only two now left as one had just been sold. She then said that she would have to check with the kitchen as there may not be any as they hadnt had a delivery. The waitress was argumentative and short in her manner. We paid for our drinks and left without ordering food. We won’t be back.

There were 11 of us in the party. It was a celebration for a family member. We all ordered off the Sunday menu which was a roast. All 11 meals were on the cooler side once delivered. But 4 were inedible and were sent back. They were cold and not acceptable. At £16.95 each it was unacceptable to serve food barely hot. Food was delivered back to kitchen, chef did not come out to apologise, 4 of us did not get our dinner and the other people in the party ate due to feeling so hungry as we had waited sometime for drinks and then for food. We were ‘offered drinks’ when we told staff we didn’t want the food returned thinking this was a kind and good willed gesture. But we were in fact charged £8.95 for these drinks as a cocktail. At the end when we were charged we happened to be £5 short and were told as we were packing up to go, “you’re a fiver short” and staff waving the card payment machine in the air. There was zero goodwill in removing the £5 after completely messing up the food and honestly it was an entirely awkward evening. There was zero goodwill in providing the people with no food with a bad of crips or a bowl of olives. Spend your money wisely elsewhere. It’s a real shame because we have eaten here in the past and half of us went home having nothing to eat.

Cauliflower cheese like scrambled egg, fat soaked spuds. I have visited before and loved the place but it has gone down hill. As per another review a lady on her own came in 45 mins after us-got served a steaming hot meal in no time. Maybe family of staff perhaps?? An excuse was made for new staff and apparently the manager had only been there two weeks. Maybe train your staff before letting loose on your public!! Hardly any veg , 1 carrot. Got a bowl of some cabbage on the side. Yorkshire pudding was completely bland, not really any seasoning on anything. Cauliflower cheese wasn’t creamy looked like scrambled egg. Only thing we did like was the gravy. My husband and myself both didn’t feel it was a big enough portion either, especially for the price as it was as over £16 a roast. We won’t be going back, was very disappointed. We also waited 40 mins for our food, a lady on her own walked in after us, seemed to be a regular and got her food way before us straight away, which we also didn’t like either.

We went for the roast as we had seen really good reviews but was very disappointed. Had the roast beef, the beef was cut so thin, it was stringy and fatty I couldn’t even eat it. Charming bar staff, good selection of beers, BBQ food is a winner and possibly the best beer garden in Norwich!

The Eagle is a pub restaurant in Newmarket Road, not far from the George Hotel. It’s attractive inside and out, has outdoor dining and I think there is a function room upstairs. We enjoyed the food and ambience, and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Unfortunately it was a little chaotic - serving staff clearly weren’t speaking to each other so we got asked the same questions several times. All very good natured but left us feeling a little uncertain about the status of our order.

Went here with friends, we had monkfish, sadly inedible, aubergine slopped on the base of plate was so salty, monkfish was a very small portion, sticky toffee pud was divine tho, where we sat first was filthy, so we moved seats, belly pork was on the menu but not available, this was first choice

Emily was only too kind to serve us when the weather was amazing by bringing the drinks to us in the garden. Proactive and attentive staff are the ones who deserve recognition. Emily is one of those all day.

Having recently moved quite close to this place, thought I would give it a try. I ordered monkfish, which was not nice at all. I thought it would be a fillet but was 3 of the smallest slices of fish I’ve ever seen, on a bed of I don’t know what? I t was really salty and inedible, the fish was over cooked but I ate it but left what ever it was on . Also ordered fries with rosemary, Parmesan and truffle, no rosemary or truffle just a blob of unmelted cheese. Mentioned to waitress the monkfish portion was tiny and there was no truffle or rosemary on the fries, they did comp the fries but did not mention I’d left all the other stuff on my plate . My friend ordered the burger, which he said was alright, even though the bun was burnt. Nice place, would go for a drink, probably alright for fish and chips or burgers but chef obviously out their depth with more high level cooking .

The place was amazing. To be honest I did not have any clue it existed before. The food was absolutely delicious. The portion was really good as well. The only thing I will suggest is that the place is a bit pricey or overpriced. If they can serve things for a bit affordable prices then it would be much busier and popular.

Have I got a story to tell you… So I parked up and went to pay my £3.20 but little did I know I only had £3.15 in change and it didn’t give any change, so what did I do? I asked people for 5p and apparently nobody carries change these days even if they have a german whip. So I do the unforgivable and spend £4 on parking. Anyhow, I sit here at “The Glass House”, Norwich and I find myself spending £3.20 on a new larger labelled at £4. I am over the moon at the 80p I have redeemed back that is rightfully mine. I’m absolutely and completely flabbergasted. I’m so incredibly jubilant. Please support this small business, I love it with all my heart. Thank you to the wetherspoon family. Merci Beaucoup

A great pub with a great atmosphere. Me and my friend went here last night and had great service from great Greg. It has a good outside heated seating area by the rider which is beautiful in the summer and they have a great selection of beers. Definitely will come again, it is much improved from the pub I went to a few years ago.

Very cosy pub with lovely staff. We arrived to a roaring fire and delicious dinner before staying the night in a very comfortable bed. Would revisit in a heartbeat x
