Nice enough on a Monday afternoon with excellent prices but the girl who took over the bar at about half three, couldn't stay off her phone, even when pouring a drink, apart from that not a bad place

Small pub , friendly service but clearly tailored for the locals. Not a bad thing just a quiet pub.

Went in 5 pm on Tuesday evening. Advertised Norwich vs Leeds. And Manchester city vs bratislava only to hand the channel changed cos an arsenal fan who they knew wanted that on. WHAT A PISS TAKE. PLACE SMELT BAD AS LOADS OF UNWASHED IN THE BAR. AVOID THIS BAR AT ALL COSTS. I'M DISGUSTED. NEVER AGAIN. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Had a very bad experience I had a fall think my drink was spiked only had 4 large wines all day .staff were excellent when I fell. Thank you.

Don't go if you want to have fun! If you drink more than 2 they won't serve just incase you've had to much. But if your local turn up and get hammered

Just move to Norwich from Northamptonshire and this pub is excellent the same layout, vibe and customer base as my local pub in Kettering (the rising sun and the prices of drinks are the best in town definitely feels like home. I look forward to making this pub my regular, happy days. Benji mod soul boy.

Great city pub, great staff, strange mix of customers every time you come in lol... Always interesting.... Just need to sort the sewer issue out it been like it years.... Now and again you walk in and it just there in the background.... A grim sewage smell.... Not the current managements fault it's been like it years it really needs sorting.

Nice cosy setting but I think they’re not legally allowed to recommend you a drink if you ask. Either that or someone just did not want me in their bar. Shame too cause it’s a nice setting and they have karaoke days as well but the vibe was so weird because what type of a bar server doesn’t recommend drinks for specific people and would rather they leave instead if recommends them a new drink? Don’t know what was going on there but I’m definitely never coming back. Never felt that intentionally ignored in my life.

Really bad service, terrible racist and homophobic atmosphere by a large group that seemed to be friends with the bar staff on a personal level. The bar staff ignored me every time I tried to get a drink, even when no one else was waiting and ignored all the racist and prejudice customers that where being quite vocal with their insults, not at me but just in general. I went because of friends who are very nice and was shocked that they would hang out in such an awful atmosphere. I will not ever go back and definitely want to warn others not to go unless you want to support a racist business.

Terrible place.....i ordered a bottled beer and they shoved it in a filthy plastic "glass"....six hours after the foot finished!!! Totally clueless....won't return

Brilliant little pub this is.friendly staff,,this is my go to pub every time I come to Norwich.had a good crack with the locals even though I am from Scotland.

Absolutely wonderful little pub full of character and very local and amusing Norfolk characters. It was quite an experience in my short time there. Will definitely visit again 😁

Busy pub with sports on TV, friendly staff, good selection of drinks, can be very busy at peak football times but well worth a visit.

Was a great sporting afternoon.

John Smiths at £2.40 and lager at £3ish a pint. I can't see how they can do it but I'm certainly not complaining. I'll certainly be calling in for a pint more often

One reviewer said it’s an old-style pub. Another mentioned sticky floors. Hmm, I think of dinosaur… Just missing the sawdust … No food but limited selection of beers. I guess they are targeting the “I’ll just have a quick drink” clients. It’s ok if that’s all you want.

The pub has improved, got a lot better, ever since changed hand's. as for that Simone ,(previous owner)all her bar staff Left, having to have her children run pub, that had sticky floors, water on toilet floor, a loose light in Ladies, which falling pieces.

Lovely little pub and dog friendly bar lady was very helpful and friendly good choice of larger n real ales

New people running it, more like running it into the ground. Used to be a home pub and the busiest in the city but everyone that watches the football has been rudely barred and laughed at. Last home game there were two miserable old bigots in and five members of staff on. Never going back.

Absolutely horrible place, atmosphere was dead completely, was served by a miserable younger girl behind the bar, the pint I was served tasted flat and horrible, the toilets were absolutely vile, tissues and empty “plastic bags” all over the floor and the toilet it’s self looks as though it’s never been flushed ! Avoid at all costs!!

The pub seems to change every time you go in. Sometimes feels like an old school drinking pub on the weekend -but during the week its more of a chav/young vibe with grime music being played loudly. Not a fan.

Mmm - a rather surreal experience. Felt like we were intruding. The bar staff & friends seemed to be enjoying themselves. Very little attention was paid to clearing tables and apparently we had to watch old Scottish football matches rather than the live Newcastle v Man U game because Tyler was upstairs?!

We walked into a busy lively atmosphere but not in a way that felt uncomfortable. The bar staff were excellent and we'd use this place again!

My friends and I made quite a detour to play pool here, on the table advertised on the web site. But there is no pool table. We also looked forward to having a beer (it's primarily a pub) ... but there was none. All a bit disappointing. To be fair the website does say enjoy 'your favourite lager' with televised sport; we should have been warned. But all was not lost and a helpful barman eventually put on a fresh barrel of a very nice light hoppy number and changed the tv from American football to the Test match... albeit with Radio 6 Music on the radio. It felt a bit more like an English pub. It's a traditional building, nice location and could be great when busy and there's good sport on the tv. But there are better pubs in Norwich if you are making a choice. I'm not overly picky but I do like my pub to have one choice of ale/beer, and a pool table if they're advertising one.

Sent up for sports! Could & should try to cater for the aged community, not just for the young football brigade. Update the ales selection.

The staff are superb. F1 style service, you'll get your round as fast as Hamilton goes from medium to soft only with a beautiful smile. Tehya will ensure your experience is uninterrupted from anything but fun fun fun. Great boozer, would recommend 👌

Proper pub of the kind that's almost extinct. Service prompt ,the young girl running tables worked very hard with a cheerful attitude.

Upon arrival we were placed on a table in the corner and explained there would be table service. After about 15 - 20 minutes of bar staff looking over but no server in sight we decided to leave. Shame because this looked like such a homely pub.

Pig and Whistle is one of my favourite pubs! It's quaint and comfortable with kind staff. Massive choice to drink and they cater for everyone. I started my hen do here and it was a brilliant beginning to the night. Will always recommend this for people who fancy nice pint or who want to watch the sport!

Great Sunday Roast as always! Delicious home cooked food. And extra gravy on the side! Yumm. Will be back.

Food was average, place was dark, dingy and a bit grubby to be honest. Waiter had black nails . Difficult to park and would not recommend if you want home cooked food

Dropped in this pub on our trip to Norwich and after being dragged around looking in nearly ever shop and buying nothing i was looking forward to a drink. This pub is perfect for a stop off and recouperate. Great range of drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stop there and let the women do the shopping and then come a collect me after they have traipsed around the shops.

Cheap and simple. Fosters less than £3. Nothing tarted up. Straight forward boozer. Good for watching football and getting cheap drinks.
