Took my disabled mum out for lunch. Perfect service, food, and atmosphere. Access for wheelchair was good as was the disabled parking. She had lamb shank with vegetables, and I had haddock, triple cooked chips and mushy peas. Would highly recommend and Beth who served us and Connor the chef deserve a big thank you. My mother is very fussy and she told me this was the best meal she had ever had! Well done Marsh Harrier! Add to that a 40% off mains voucher we had. Happy Days! 😁

Me and my work colleagues came for a meal (some for the first time) on Friday 21st March and everyone was blown away by the food!! We have a mixed bunch of people with different tastes but EVERYONE loved EVERY course that they has and even enjoyed a bit of other people's food lol! Our servers were fantastic, nothing was too much and they had a giggle with us too. Our main server was BETH who was just fantastic and really accommodating. There was 14 of us there and we had one of the best nights we've had in a while, we laughed so much to the point of tears and belly aches. Thank you to ALL the staff who looked after us. We shall definitely be back again (if you'll have us lol)

It is a really nice cosy pub. Plenty parking. I was staying at Holiday Inn and it was only 5 min down the road. Popped in for dinner without reservation and the staff was kind enough to find me a table to sit and enjoy my dinner. Ordered halloumi fries and it came with tasty dip, garlic cheese mushrooms and hunter chicken (could do with a bit more salad on the side). Portions were good and food was delicious. It went down beautifully with a pint of Madri.

Came here for valentines, was seated quickly and drinks came rather promptly. When booking my reservation online I was only able to choose the valentines menu but others were ordering from the normal menu which confused me. We got our starter, it was nice but meant to be “crispy” chicken, it was not at all crispy but still quite nice and spicy. Our mains turned up, my partner had the steak and I had a hunters chicken. The steak my partner couldn’t even cut as it was so fatty and my bbq hunters chicken came with little bbq sauce and it was all soggy. Our desert was ok, my partner had the sticky toffee pud which she enjoyed and I had the trio chocolate. It was ok, but nothing to shout about. Another glass of wine, we got the bill. We got £15 off because of the main courses. I decided I needed to use the bathroom, when I came back my partner was leaving the table because they had told her we had to move as they needed the table, while she still had a glass of wine to drink. I get its valentines. I get it’s done by bookings, but being told you have to leave the table when you’ve only just paid the bill is ridiculous. I had my father give me a slightly dubious review of this place when he came for Christmas dinner. I should have listened and not bothered. Don’t recommend at all.

Service was great and can't fault it however based on the food we would not return.

Had lunch today with my husband at the Marsh Harrier. He had the pie of the day which was chicken served with mash & veg, and enjoyed his meal. I had fish & chips and was so disappointed with my meal. Firstly, my meal was served to me completely covered in salt crystals, I think it should be my choice whether or not to add salt to my own meal. Too much salt could be dangerous for anyone with high blood pressure. The fish batter was very dark and had been over cooked which made the fish inside very dry and I could not eat it. I did mention my disappointment to member of the bar staff. Diane.

First of all arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday night (didn’t book) Great experience, I didn’t get the names of people who served us, but there was a lady on entrance who said there would be a wait on food but tbh not really a wait considering how busy it was. There were 2 people who brought the food out, a young person with short blonde hair, who had a great vibe and so friendly. They were attentive and were not shy. Food was spot on, I had the lasagne and added chips on, and my partner had the hunters schnitzel. Really enjoyed I’ve not been in years, and will definitely return now. Thanks guys

I went with my elderly mum, she was disappointed with the choice of the menu, only because the meal portions are too large for some people, having small meals, she had gammon and chips but had to cancel the peas and egg as she knew there would have been too much food, as it was she was unable to eat what came, although she said it was tasty. I had hunters chicken which was beautifully cooked and prepared differently to other restaurants with a crispy coating and sauce that didn't overpower the chicken, there was cheese and crispy bacon on top served with hand cut chips and salad. Felt the price was a little pricey for a pub. It was £40 for two meals and two apple juices. Would eat there again if they include smaller plates options.

We arrived on Thursday evening (Jan 16th), at 8pm for drinks & to eat. We couldn’t book as we both work uncertain hours & eat there regularly with no problem. We ordered drinks & asked where we could sit to eat, only to be told that “we’re not serving walk-ins!” We were very surprised & extremely disappointed. The pub wasn’t overly busy with lots of tables available. All I hear at the moment are pubs complaining of the lack of trade so when you have the chance of extra income why did you turn it away? We quickly finished our drinks & went elsewhere where we were welcomed. Their gain, your loss. As much as we like The Marsh Harrier, we’ll think twice before going again. Graham.

Traditional food, be blowed. I ordered a tradional Sunday lunch, which consisted of Turkey, Roast spuds, 2 sliced carrots, ( burned ) a very, very, well cooked Yorkshire pud, and very runny beef gravy. The mash I ordered never appeared even when I asked for it when my offerings appeared ( " oh that's extra "). Yes but I ordered it, sorry I'll go and get it now, still never appeared. Drinks plentiful, but not cheap . Come again: No chance.

The staff were all really pleasant and knowledgeable, we were seated right away and had the right amount of service. Especially the young waiter (Alex I think?) who put up with father in laws crap jokes. The food was generally good, although unfortunately I felt the chicken pie was bland and a bit stingy, with less than a cm of filling in the dish, with the rest being pastry and air. The veg and mash were lovely though. The soup was delicious although served lukewarm rather than hot. I did not mention these at the time as father in law was already complaining about his steak and a mixup with his sauce so I didn't want to make things worse. I'm sure the staff would have been happy to warn my soup though. The place is beautifully decorated, although we felt a little crammed in and the men's bathroom looks like a crime scene with a broken mirror and dent in the wall like it's been punched.

As a couple we went twice in a week, the second time because we’re so pleased with the food and the service, but the second time was a disappointment. On the first visit our meals were the sea bass and the fish pie, which was a “special” and had nice chunks of salmon, prawns and white fish with a hot mash topping, obviously freshly cooked, both meals were excellent. Also the person serving us was very knowledgeable about the food and the drinks menu. The Mediterranean style lager was surprisingly tasty as he said. He also took some time to talk with us, which was very welcoming. However on our second visit the service was slower, there was no “specials” menu and the food we chose was disappointing. The chicken curry was pleasant but not outstanding, and there didn’t appear to be much variety of flavours in the sauce. The lasagne appeared very basic, okay but not outstanding. It almost felt like we’re in a different pub! The redeeming feature was the log fire near our table which added to a good atmosphere.

Having been here many times before, this time I was somewhat disappointed with the food. We went for a Sunday roast and, although we arrived for a 1pm seating, the food quality was poor. We only had 2 slices of the chosen meat and the roast potatoes were not crunchy at all. The parsnips were not even recognisable with a weird color and again no crispness at all.
