Food was okay, service fine. The issue is I detest management that tries to take your choice away. LIGHT MAYONNAISE is disgusting and does not taste anything like REAL MAYONNAISE. I was told several times at different visits this is how it is now? I'll bring my own bottle next time I decide to return.

My friend and I went here for our lunch today. We thought that the food would taste good because of the good reviews online and the pictures. But we were very disappointed. We arrived and were seated quickly, the waitress came to us many different times, before we'd decided what to order which stressed me out. And it made me order without really looking at the menu. I ordered some scallop, crab, and prawns with bread and mash mixture, which didn't taste very nice. The bread was a little stale, the mash was dry, and the fish that I did receive was very little and disappointing. My friend had the Calamari, which was rubbery and had no flavour. For our main, we both had the Katsu curry and rice. It looked tastey, but I couldn't even eat it all. The chicken was dry and not crispy like it said it would be. There was no flavour and the meal was very disappointing. I was not impressed 😕 I paid around £46, for both dishes, a latte, a pot of olives and some chips, and a soft drink. The chips had a weird aftertaste and were dry to the taste. It's definitely not worth £46. The only things I enjoyed were my soft drink and the olives. My friend had food from the lunch deal, but still, it was not up to standard. The atmosphere was OK, but it didn't feel like a place I'd come back and eat from again. After we'd left, I looked further on the reviews to see that there were many bad reviews. I kicked myself in not looking further into the reviews before choosing the place because that was a complete waste of time, money, and effort. I was still very hungry after. The plates, cutlery, and glasses were dirty. I would NOT recommend going to this place to eat, drink, or even chill out in. The staff were OK, the lady we had was nice enough. But the other waiters that served our meals seemed a little grumpy. I have been in many pubs over my time, and I know what to expect from them, but this place was the worst.

I felt really uncomfortable here. I ordered the veg puy lentils dish and explained that i had an allergy to bell peppers. The girl checked and no peppers were mentioned So we said ok i would have this dish. That was not enough for the waitress who came over to our table and stood in front of us all REPEATEDLY questioning me about was i happy with it as they couldnt be sure about the peppers although they had read the box and none were mentioned. I felt upset and embarrassed by her behaviour

They only had one real ale on, sometimes none. £5.55 for a pint of real ale that is kept too cold so had no flavour. It cauld be a really good pub but they need some one who knows how to look after beer and know how to talk to people, the impression i got is that they only want your money and don't care. I have to say I am disappointed it has gone down hill, have you changed your supplier, I came here 4 weeks ago with a friend and had the pie of the day, it was beef & ale, full of gristle, carrots hard as was the broccy, mash dry like stodgy cardboard, Came for the Sunday roast with family yesterday, we had the 3 meat roast, beef tough as old boots, pork so fatty, turkey was lovely, Potatoes not crispy, parsnips rock hard, frozen beans, So now after my 2nd bad visit in a row I will not be coming back, shame, the bill was near on £200 for 6 people, way too much for the quality you get sorry

Came here for valentines, was seated quickly and drinks came rather promptly. When booking my reservation online I was only able to choose the valentines menu but others were ordering from the normal menu which confused me. We got our starter, it was nice but meant to be “crispy” chicken, it was not at all crispy but still quite nice and spicy. Our mains turned up, my partner had the steak and I had a hunters chicken. The steak my partner couldn’t even cut as it was so fatty and my bbq hunters chicken came with little bbq sauce and it was all soggy. Our desert was ok, my partner had the sticky toffee pud which she enjoyed and I had the trio chocolate. It was ok, but nothing to shout about. Another glass of wine, we got the bill. We got £15 off because of the main courses. I decided I needed to use the bathroom, when I came back my partner was leaving the table because they had told her we had to move as they needed the table, while she still had a glass of wine to drink. I get its valentines. I get it’s done by bookings, but being told you have to leave the table when you’ve only just paid the bill is ridiculous. I had my father give me a slightly dubious review of this place when he came for Christmas dinner. I should have listened and not bothered. Don’t recommend at all.

Had lunch today with my husband at the Marsh Harrier. He had the pie of the day which was chicken served with mash & veg, and enjoyed his meal. I had fish & chips and was so disappointed with my meal. Firstly, my meal was served to me completely covered in salt crystals, I think it should be my choice whether or not to add salt to my own meal. Too much salt could be dangerous for anyone with high blood pressure. The fish batter was very dark and had been over cooked which made the fish inside very dry and I could not eat it. I did mention my disappointment to member of the bar staff. Diane.

I went with my elderly mum, she was disappointed with the choice of the menu, only because the meal portions are too large for some people, having small meals, she had gammon and chips but had to cancel the peas and egg as she knew there would have been too much food, as it was she was unable to eat what came, although she said it was tasty. I had hunters chicken which was beautifully cooked and prepared differently to other restaurants with a crispy coating and sauce that didn't overpower the chicken, there was cheese and crispy bacon on top served with hand cut chips and salad. Felt the price was a little pricey for a pub. It was £40 for two meals and two apple juices. Would eat there again if they include smaller plates options.

We arrived on Thursday evening (Jan 16th), at 8pm for drinks & to eat. We couldn’t book as we both work uncertain hours & eat there regularly with no problem. We ordered drinks & asked where we could sit to eat, only to be told that “we’re not serving walk-ins!” We were very surprised & extremely disappointed. The pub wasn’t overly busy with lots of tables available. All I hear at the moment are pubs complaining of the lack of trade so when you have the chance of extra income why did you turn it away? We quickly finished our drinks & went elsewhere where we were welcomed. Their gain, your loss. As much as we like The Marsh Harrier, we’ll think twice before going again. Graham.

Traditional food, be blowed. I ordered a tradional Sunday lunch, which consisted of Turkey, Roast spuds, 2 sliced carrots, ( burned ) a very, very, well cooked Yorkshire pud, and very runny beef gravy. The mash I ordered never appeared even when I asked for it when my offerings appeared ( " oh that's extra "). Yes but I ordered it, sorry I'll go and get it now, still never appeared. Drinks plentiful, but not cheap . Come again: No chance.

I've been here several times with my wife and friends, every time the staff have been amazing and gone above and beyond. The food is amazing, always had the carvery and not had one complaint. Plus, they know how to pour a pint of guinness, which is great considering how some pubs around the area don't. 10/10 would recommend.
