The Bicycle Shop in Norwich

Went about a month ago and forgot to leave a review. This review is strictly for dinner and not for lunch which I have heard good things about. I went for dinner and both my girlfriend and Is dinner was incredibly bland and just bad tasting. Service was excellent and the atmosphere itself was great. Hoping it was just a bad day.

Had a fabulous evening last night the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The service, meals and general ambiance was excellent. Will certainly be back. In our native midlands spake it wor half bad

Fab place! Good, honest food, cooked just as we like it. Great coffee too. Perfect relaxed atmosphere for meeting friends and chilling. My favourite place in the city 😊 dog friendly too!

Had lunch here yesterday, it was fabulous. Loved the decor, really cosy vibe. The staff were lovely and the food was spot on.

A really excellent restaurant with a wide range of dishes especially catering for vegan/veggie but not to the exclusion of meat and fish offerings. Great range of drinks, well selected draft beers, wine and spirits. We took our dog who was made very welcome and enjoyed a lot of attention from the staff/owner. We enjoyed chicken thigh with mustard, slow cooked lamb, goat cheese and beetroot salad, followed by Pain au Chocolat bread and butter pudding. Highly recommended.

Cosy quirky cafe / bistro with shortish and delicious menu. Recommend the venison - and the tarragon chicken. Friendly staff. Lovely vibe.

Waited 20 minutes for 2 cocktails before asking if they were on their way , to which they replied no they hadn’t even started making them so we left. Were sat in the basement with barely anyone else there so atmosphere was a bit dead too. Friendly staff though.

A lovely little gem! I’ve been here for lunch & brunch and have always been impressed with the cozy ambience and quality of food/service.

I had lunch here today with a friend for the first time since COVID lockdowns in 2020 and was so happy, the atmosphere is still as lovely and charming as I remember, the waitress was really friendly and the food was great. I had poached eggs on avocado toast with rocket, the poached eggs were perfect. We also had a side order of twice cooked fries which were some of the nicest fries I've ever had. One of the nicest lunches and a very delightful afternoon.

We ate lunch and dinner here on the same day which I don't think I've ever done anywhere.The roasted parsnip soup was sublime. Friendly atmosphere and good service. They serve dinner late on Saturday, last orders 9.30ish. Food is good value but dishes are not huge if you want a large dinner.

Always enjoy the food here. Good selection of brunch stuff and the menu for later looked good too. Friendly service .

I normally love the food but I paid £20.00 for the tiniest chicken thigh and to be honest it wasn't a good meal, cold and pretty tasteless. Rather over priced for the level of food and quality.

Lovely food, served in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere by very helpful, personable staff. Highly recommended.

Cosy, boho, intimate, perfect 👌🏻

Yesterday, with having a pooch with us, we were looking for somewhere pet friendly, and we couldn't have found a better place. The staff were super friendly, and the food was outstanding and reasonably priced. If it's a sterile mainstream cafe you're after, then don't come here or do come here to experience an atmospheric quirky artisan cafe. If i didn't live 350 miles away, i would definitely make this my go-to cafe.

We loved our hot rum and apple and the member of staff was lovely.

Food hits the spot and great menu. Old staff charming ss ever. New staff lack training and charm. Music this afternoon - awful and did undermine the experience, please reconsider this playlist as enough to put one off!

The Bicycle Shop is a special place for us as we had our first date there in 2017. It is still a lovely place to eat. Lovely setting, friendly service and fantastic food. Definitely recommended.

Always love going to The bicycle shop for a pot of tea and cake or a nice brunch ☺️ They have some tasty vegan options and a lovely tea selection! The staff has always been really friendly and welcoming. I also love all their decor, surrounded by plants and nice art, it's a lovely place to recharge during a day out in town.

Had a lovely relaxed 3 hr first date here Saturday lunchtime..an old favourite,the Bicycle Shop is as good as ever..nice beer and cocktails..lovely Portuguese tarts..only let down slightly by a somewhat uninspiring latte. Don't worry,they do what they do very well and there's a lovely atmosphere enhanced as always by the mismatched crockery! Almost perfect,but as a cofficianado,it wasn't quite 5 stars. Still love you guys and we'll be back for another date soon xx

I had the best breakfast here and I'm so glad I visited on my last morning in Norwich. They have a really good selection of food, and were able to make it gluten free as well. The cafe has a really nice vibe and everyone working there is so friendly. You have the option to sit outside or in, and inside they had music playing but it wasn't overly loud, just created a really nice background. The food was so good and if I come back to Norwich I will definitely visit again.

Interesting place with great food

Wonderful independent establishment, visited with my daughter and forgot to mention that my daughter wanted the gluten free option, remade the order without any qualms. Impeccable service! Food and beverages are excellent, lovely atmosphere. Heartily recommend visiting, I shall certainly be returning soon.

I’ve been wanting to make a trip to The Bicycle Shop for a while. So while I was out entertaining the smallest of our tribe I decided today would be a great day to go. I chose the eggs royale and it was beautifully created and thoroughly enjoyed. The child went off menu and opted for a lovely little scrambled egg with toast. Seating was plentiful for such a small place and it has a great interior design. All the staff were polite and happy to help which I love. Thank you I’m sure there will be more delights to come

An incredible find. Staff were very friendly, atmosphere was good and the food was amazing. I had the black pudding hash and have to say it was one of the best lunches I have had...and I'm 42!! Will definitely go back when next in Norwich.

Relax atmosphere, good coffee and cake

Had to sit outside as it was very busy. But it was still pleasant to do so. Had the salmon, which was tasty. My dining partner had a bap and said it was good too. Service was wonderful

I usually enjoy my time at this bohemian and relaxing cafe, but unfortunately I experienced racial discrimination when I last went. When I questioned being treated differently (loudly demanding payment from me in advance, in front of the other customers, none of whom had been asked to settle their bills before being served). After being challenged about it he insisted the only reason he’d treated me differently was that he was busy at that moment (really!?! Unconscious much…!?!) I’ve given two stars because the bone marrow dish I had was delicious- just a bit tainted by the waiter….

We had a lovely lunch with a friend and her dog. Service was excellent, waiter was attentive and looked after us and the dog! He was very accommodating with our food preferences and intolerances. Service was speedy and food delicious. A really enjoyable experience.

I just love this place, so friendly, such great ambience. The food is incredible, especially for a veggie, lots of choice. HIGHLY recommended.

Really enjoyed brunch here; lots of options in a relaxed environment. The cafe looks and smells wonderful, the staff are really friendly and helpful.

Over priced and bland. Proper moody place and not in the cool and sexy way. Just boring posh people enjoying cardboard and hummus. Avoid if you don’t want to be miserable.

I've been there in the 5th of August for a coffee, I had a very warm welcome, the supervisor working at this time was very professional and friendly even the other members as the make me visited the shop. I had a latte and a brownie. Keep it up well done guys.

I came here for brunch with family on a lazy Sunday morning in June. There's plenty of outside seating, which was lovely in the sunshine! There were fewer vegan options on the menu than I'd expect given that it's in Norwich. It feels like they need at least two or three more for breakfast, such as offering the avocado toast without animal products for a reduced price. My vegan bap was decent but the cheese slice needed melting a touch more to bring the sarnie together! In terms of coffee, my oat flat white was well made, but we all thought the espresso drinks were missing strength. Perhaps a sturdier roast or something similar required! Maybe it's just me, but I found the specials board inside quite difficult to read given the shady ambience combined with flowery font! Overall, this is a lovely café but vegans might want to head somewhere more specialist!

Wow what a find, lovely quirky cafe. Chilled out atmosphere, staff - Jam- so helpful although they hadn’t officially opened they said they’d be happy to make us a tea or coffee before kitchen opened. Extras like water to the table with ice and lime was a lovely touch. Coffee was velvet smooth as was the delicious Portuguese tart., so much that I had to have seconds. Yum, well worth a visit morning or for lunch.
