Love this pub, the food is always delicious. Tried the feather blade steak, unbelievably good. Service is great, and dog friendly too

A wonderful Mother's day brunch!!! I had the Eggs Benidict, with bacon, absolutely lovely, great flavours and cooked to perfection! My son had the full English, it looked fantastic and he said it was one of the best he's ever had!!! A lovely treat!xxx💗💗💗

Ordered the gammon & eggs. Gammon was very over seasoned so much pepper on everything I couldn’t eat gammon or mushroom. Gammon was way overcooked and difficult to cut into. I mentioned the above to staff who were not interested. I took Gammon home to give to dogs. Expensive dog food. I have pictures if anybody is interested.

Warm welcome, nice atmosphere and a delicious lunch. Fish and Chips was amongst the best I’ve ever had. Excellent location for lunch if visiting kids at UEA.

My favourite pub to come to with my family and friends, I love it here! Such a friendly place! Disappointing to see a negative review talk badly of Laura, she is an absolute riot and we love seeing her!

Reading the unprofessional responses to previous reviews left I see no point in leaving details. I will simply say I will not return to this pub, terrible experience.

Terrible customer service experience here! Came for a couple of drinks on Christmas Eve to celebrate the first pint of an 18th birthday. The main pub was very busy but we sat in the much quieter back room. Only stayed an hour or so and in that time purchased 2 rounds before being very rudely told by server Laura that we had to leave immediately as someone else wanted the table. We asked if we could have 10 minutes to finish our drinks and were told no as the other customers were in the main room waiting, and then had our half full drinks practically taken out of our hands. The other customers were then brought through and both them and the server stared at us as we awkwardly put on our coats and left. There was no reserved sign on the table or warning when we sat down that the space was reserved, there were also 2 other empty tables that could have seated the 2 ladies in that room until we’d been ready to leave if they so desperately wanted our table. The experience made us all feel horribly unwelcome and ruined the 18th birthday celebration. Will not be returning and would not recommend!!

Disappointed. I went for a Sunday roast and was very much let down. 1. The servers weren’t friendly at all- there was no table check at any point, and it seemed like they were purposefully avoiding us after the cocktail change (see below) 2. Cocktails tasted like they had no alcohol in (the homemade ones!!) 3. Nut roast was horrifically dry and devoid of almost any flavour at all 4. None of the trimmings were particularly good- all bland, roasties not crispy, parsnips were somehow soggy yet slightly undercooked, and carrots did not taste particularly fresh 5. Cauliflower cheese sauce tasted like it was from a bottle/ jar 6. They served POWDERED MASHED POTATOES and had the cheek to charge £3 extra for the privilege. It was so clearly powdered- it wasn’t even like they tried to bulk out normal potatoes with powdered, it was disgusting (even by smash standards!) The atmosphere was decent, it’s a nice building, there’s a good selection of drinks, and they did change a cocktail when we said the first one wasn’t nice, without fuss. Unfortunately the second one was no better! I’ve been a few times for just drinks, but after this experience I won’t even go back for drinks, let alone food! The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because it was actually edible.

What a lovely place just outside the city of Norwich, super nice and accomodati g staff. Great beers and roasts, well prepared on food allergies and intolerances. We stopped by on our way back to London looking for a Sunday roast without booking and the staff was very accommodating. Smiley and welcoming staff.

Nice place, shame about the staff and service, the man with the beard, sorry l apologise l don’t his name and glasses extremely rude and it wasn’t the first time either that l have experienced his rudeness. Won’t be returning and advising anyone else to go there. A bad word always travel faster than a good one.

The car park was nearly full when I arrived - it's a popular place! The food was pleasing - we had pre-ordered. Felt a little rushed out the door as our table had been booked for another party.

Needed to feed my university son a proper meal, this pub is perfect, excellent servic, fantastic large tasty roast dinner & make sure you order the deep fried stuffing balls they are the bees knees so scrumptious. 5 mins from UEA great for feeding a starving student.. we will be back on next visit to Norwich.. I was staying in Norwich and this looked like a nice pub from the outside. I'd never visited this establishment before but heard good things about the food from all the way down in Somerset! Whilst visiting friends I decided to try it. Unfortunately the overtly over the top and flirty bar "person" didn't make a good impression. Completely unnecessary flirty behaviour and lewd comments towards the customers is unacceptable and offensive behaviour which made me and my whole party feel unnecessarily uncomfortable. The food was good, however the very unprofessional behaviour of the member of staff that served me, means I will not to be returning.

A meeting with colleagues - I didn't eat but everyone who did enjoyed their meals. Not the cheapest place to land but nice staff 👍

I ordered fish n chips .The fish smelt strange so I mentioned to the lady who appeared to be in charge and she said we will give you a free dessert .The chips were frozen chips and the batter was over cooked .The lettuce was limp .The waiter was new and really nice .I was charged for the dessert 🍨 so not really happy .

This is a large venue. It often has entertainment. There's a book corner and games. The garden is huge and great in warm weather. I go there am. For crossword club. Ideal venue. Coffee is good too.

Really poor food tonight. Asked for a steak medium, came back rare. Asked for it to be sent back and if concerned to edge on the side of well done- it came back rare. My partner asked for a chilli prawn linguine and it came out with a curry sauce. They apologised and took it off the menu and swapped for a Greek salad which came out with no dressing. The steak came out the third time and as you would expect was completely dried out.the food was inedible and asked to leave and pay for the items we had. The manager disputed our issues with the food and proceeded to Barr my partner from returning after she pointed out how a Greek salad should taste - Barr for is crazy. Have eaten there previously many times and always been good so a big surprise

We came here as our first stop on the City of Ale trail. Staff were communicative and friendly and the pub is conveniently close to a bus stop (from Norwich centre). There were a range of ales available and I suspect we were a bit unlucky with our ales in that they were past their best.

Popped in for the first time yesterday to meet a friend and was pleasantly surprised it’s a nice clean pub and a good selection of beers, wines and cocktails. We decided to have lunch as well and the food was delicious and reasonably priced too would definitely recommend a visit and nice beer garden and dog friendly

Very efficient clean and on the ball. Was our Ruby wedding anniversary and my 70th birthday. Service excellent, food brilliant. Couldn't have asked for anything better. Bonus was entertainment on and our erra 70s,80s and 90s. Which was a bonus. Will definitely visit again.. Thank you all.

Don’t advertise “watch the six nations here”. When you don’t have sound and then, when you fix the sound after two games, you turn it down on purpose, so no one can hear it! Poor customer service, uninterested staff. Lots of various groups of people there to watch the rugby and can’t hear it and then the staff ignore customers asking to turn it up. False advertising

Sadly I have seen things go down hill in a few recent months. Firstly the menu is over priced , the sausage and mash is small and expensive, definitely should have more on the plate for the price. This is supposed to be a pub not a high class restaurant. Unfortunately staff (Laura) are to in your face and we found it cringey, yet another member a very young slim girl seemed moody and approachable? Definitely not. Closing we they seem to feel like it if not busy? Very weird, especially the Sunday 8pm close! Does not give the public the choice locally and the owner seems to be in hiding!. After long thought we will now be using the red lion or go further in to town as the atmosphere has gone......putting it in a nutshell it's overpriced, staff are cringey or distance and it's not for us.

Been here a few times , wasn't a fan of the chunky chips !! , but they seem to be a thing of the past , food is reasonably priced , we had , scampi and chips , fish and chips , full English and the burger and chips , all were very good , as was the service 👍

My family visited me this weekend and brought the dog up so we went here for a roast as it was a fog friendly pub. The staff serving us was lovely (believe their name was Laura?). So friendly, chatty and inviting. The food was lovely too and can't complain about the portion sizes.

Food was ok... very dog friendly. However Laura out server was sensational. Very friendly great wine recommendation , awesome service. Go to this place to meet Laura. I always think people make a place.... Laura did this for us .

Excellent service with pretty decent food, but nothing out of the ordinary, although the menu changes regularly which gives a nice bit of variety. However, they haven't been very accommodating the last couple of times that I've tried to book a table. The first time I was told that 8.30pm on a Saturday was too late for a table of four, and the most recent time I was told that they had space at 8pm for a table for two, only to overhear 'table for two at eight, is it worth it?' in the background, before being told they were full. Not sure if I'll bother trying again.

I really want the food to be good but it just keeps getting worse. Will not be returning until they get a new chef. Over priced, poor quality, why is food in the garden served in a box?? Child wanted a hot dog but they were not allowed..had to have sausage and chips. Just a very weird set up and left with a bad taste in mouth . Garden is good for kids and nice climbing frame.

2 burgers and Chips with 2 drinks, £40 and the burger tasted awful. Full of some seasoning which made the whole burger taste like oregano or some rubbish, the dog liked it. Only redeeming quality were the onion rings. Told staff, no offer of refund or a replacement burger that's 100% beef and not full of rubbish. Left an awful taste. Won't be returning.

Got me a last minute booking.... at short notice food superb and the service 10 out of 10 our evening was made just by the waiter and the service given to my little princess thanks again well be back again thank you

I visited The Cellar looking for a place to grab a quick lunch. The atmosphere is great as well as the waiters. I ordered a hotdog, however the bun was very hard and i couldn’t even bite on it and cutting it was just a nightmare. I spoke to one of the waiters and they said “thats how its supposed to be”. Overall its a great place except for the hotdog bun incident.

Had a wonderful breakfast here today. Staff were very friendly and personable and they have a lovely market once a month during summer which is really worth a visit.

Had a lovely lunch on Monday, complete with baby and dog. Staff could not have been more helpful. Food delicious and portions super generous. Can't wait to return.

Had an absolutely amazing time last night at the pub listening to the Irish Folk Band. Superb experience and highly recommend to all! Very busy all night and everyone there seemed to be loving it. Didn’t have a table booked for food but what was coming out from the kitchen looked amazing. Also, a big thank you to all staff who worked really hard on what was a very busy shift to give everyone a top night out. Well done guys! Will definitely be back for this night again! Cheers!

I went for my birthday meal with my family here this evening and honestly the most memorable meal out in a long time! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful and they have the loveliest staff. We were served by Laura (I believe that's her name) and she helped make the meal so special! Customer service is top notch and I will definitely be coming back here again!

The website states: "delicious home-cooked food at _very reasonable prices_." £13.75 for a lentil burger, a slice of vegan cheese, with a handful of chips and two onion rings... Forgive me for not thinking £2 worth of food is worth a the 700% markup. I wouldn't mind so much if that's not the first line on the website, but for two people to have two burgers and two pints, and for the bill to come to nearly £40, is a little rich.

Great beer, atmosphere and food, couldn't ask for more. At a recent visit I had one of the best ribeye steaks I have ever had, in fact it was so good I had to come back again to make sure! 😉

We were very happy t o be back inside the Cellar House with its friendly staff and locals.The welcome, food and service were excellent, if a little slow. Understandably as places are opening up and adapting to an ever-changing scene.The vegetarian options are limited but we were all happy with our choices.Food was hot and tasty, well presented and good value.We are always pleased to come to such a great "local" and happy to patronise them whenever open.We had good meals in the garden but now the menu is more extensive and well thought through.It is also delightful to have the post office/shop in the adjacent room with interesting local produce.With doors open (yes we know it's a must) wrap up warm and be patient. It's all coming good and we wish you well.

Having to find somewhere with a covered, heated garden, that was open on a Tuesday, wasn't easy.We were greeted with a very warm welcome, our details efficiently and politely taken, whilst seated.We were all offered blankets to keep us warm. We had hot and cold drinks, and some lunches. Thank you for your hospitality.

Plus factors: large garden with well spaced out tables and a covered area. Attentive service with fully masked staff. The Ghost Ship was excellent.Negative factor. The "classic" burger was horrible. I don't usually eat burgers so maybe it's my problem! The accompanying chips were OK

Back again after Lockdown the Cellar House have adapted the spacious garden with plenty of seating, large covered area and patio heaters.We were so glad to be able to return to our favourite local after a few months absence to find the same friendly welcome for everyone including children and dogs.Seated at our table we were able to order food - brought in a large bag with recyclable containers and cutlery and the usual drinks.The menu - we chose a mac 'n cheese pot with bacon bites and curly fries with Katsu chicken - are well thought through and appetising to fit in with the new eating plan.I imagine it will grow in popularity so get there early as no pre-booking yet available.Can't wait till we're able to go inside for more socialising etc.

In these crazy times, if you are looking for somewhere to go with your friends, outside obviously, go here. Sensible in their COVID rules and the food is amazing, served in boxes but hot and will not disappoint. Alex really looked after us. Thanks guys for a great evening

I booked well in advance for a drink and after looking on the website, maybe something to eat. We arrived at 7pm, had a drink, asked for a menu at 7.40 along with another round of drinks and we were told the kitchen was closed, even though the website states they serve food until 8pm.So we didn't eat, we went home hungry, evening ruined...1 deserved star.

Brilliant food and service right from reservation to paying the bill! As we had two vegans on board, Paul even called back to check our dinner requirements so they could pre-plan! Wonderful experience.

No entiendo la serie de críticas negativas aquí.Visité por primera vez como parte de un encuentro socialmente distanciado con 8 compañeros de trabajo que no se habían visto desde marzo. Teníamos una mesa reservada afuera, pero debido a las inclemencias del tiempo, el personal se ofreció a trasladarnos adentro a una habitación espaciosa donde pudiéramos mantenernos a una distancia adecuada.El personal muy amable tomó pedidos de bebidas cuando la gente llegó y se llevó a la mesa. Se hicieron pedidos de comida y la comida se trajo en un tiempo muy razonable, y la calidad de lo que todos comimos fue muy buena.El personal no dejaba de vigilarnos para asegurarse de que estábamos bien, y cuando pedimos la factura nos sorprendió gratamente el total debido al esquema de "comer fuera para ayudar".Pasamos 3 horas muy agradables aquí, nos sentimos seguros y también nos atendieron bien.Definitivamente regresaría de nuevo en el futuro.

Vine aquí para almorzar con un par de amigos del collage. Reservamos la mesa para la 1 pm y nos llevaron a nuestra mesa alrededor de las 12:50. Nos llevaron a nuestra mesa y solo esperamos unos 5 minutos para que alguien tomara nuestro pedido de bebidas y luego solo unos 15 minutos antes de que alguien tomara nuestro pedido de almuerzo. Todas las personas que nos atendieron fueron amables y nos preguntaron si todo estaba bien. Esperamos aproximadamente media hora más o menos a que trajeran la comida.Desafortunadamente, aquí es donde se pierden las dos estrellas. No me impresionó la cantidad de comida para casi 14. 00 y la comida estaba caliente. Pedí la salchicha y el puré y no había mucho por el dinero. Comí 4 chipolatas, un puñado de zanahorias, un trozo pequeño de brócoli, un trozo de coliflor (ambos todavía duros, pero entiendo que así es como la mayoría de los restaurantes sirven verduras) y una pequeña cantidad de puré. Sin embargo, la salsa estaba deliciosa.También comimos postre por el "comer fuera para ayudar" que hizo que los postres fueran casi 3. 00 cada uno. Tuve el pudín de caramelo pegajoso sin natillas ya que se habían acabado y, por desgracia, de nuevo estaba casi frío. Tal vez esa sea la forma en que se sirve, pero asumí (ya que se sirvió con natillas) que el pudín estaría caliente, así que rechacé la crema.En general, lo pasé muy bien reuniéndome con amigos para charlar y la comida me costó 13. 55 después del ahorro, así que no me quejé. ¿Volvería? I am having been pleased to drink and sometimes eat at this pub.However,my last visit this evening was very disappointing.The staff has forgotten our drink orders.We waited three beers around 20 minutes.Unfortunately,we quite disappointed!

Reservé una mesa con poca antelación (30 minutos) el viernes por la noche, solo tenía espacio exterior, que en realidad era lo que preferíamos. Mesas bien espaciadas afuera; nos sentamos bajo un techo de marquesina de tamaño decente en una mesa y sillas de plástico, también un montón de mesas de estilo pub en el jardín. Lo único que diría es que algunas luces de hadas / velas serían agradables, ya que oscurecía al final de nuestra comida. Teníamos entrantes encantadores (tarta de salmón y espárragos, pila de tomate / queso feta) y platos principales (pastel de pescado, lasaña), ¡así que no había espacio para el pudín! Nuestro camarero Paul fue muy amable y servicial, fácilmente podría llamar su atención y pedir otra bebida. Aseos a los que se accede sin tener que pasar por la barra. En general me sentí seguro :)

En todo momento nuestra velada se vio obstaculizada por tiempos de espera tan largos. En tiempos de COVID, la configuración debería haber funcionado bien, las reservas tomadas, la aplicación descargada, el distanciamiento social cumplido, sin embargo, esperamos 35 minutos para nuestra primera botella de vino y, a partir de entonces, la espera fue más corta pero aún no aceptable.
