Wherrymans Restaurant in North Norfolk

It was a very damp and showery morning and we weren’t sure if the restaurant was even open! But we tried the door and it was . The lady on the bar asked the kitchen if they were still serving breakfast (it was only 10.10am) and they were. We sat down and there was a very damp smell in the room. Which was a little off putting but We ordered full English and Vegan breakfast, both with coffee. The coffee were served piping Hot which was lovely as usually they go cold before breakfast is served. But breakfast came and coffee was still hot!. Breakfast was also really hot and delicious, good local produce and served with a smile. Deffo come back again! Serves lunches and coffee and cake too so worth drying at different times of the day.

Excellent all round ,food value for money ,excellent staff service ,clean ,a real hidden gem on the Norfolk boards ,best cafe hoveton/ wroxham

Second time here and not disappointed, huge portions, I had jacket potato with massive fillings and salad which was lovley, extremely value for money, staff very polite and friendly and helpful as daughter asked about gluten free and they wrote down which was gluten free ,friend was surprised at amount and couldn't eat it all but enjoyed every mouth full, extremely value for money, meeting friends there soon , would highly recommend

If I had a choice for breakfast, it would be here. Excellent service, not greasy, very clean in all areas. Excellent value for what you get, no request was too much.

What has happened to this place. It’s been a couple of years since our last visit and remember it being so much better. I see that the owner has declared that some of the reviews are false. They are all likely to be true if our experience was anything to go by. Poor customer service and very weak coffee. Asked about cakes and told that nothing was available. Staff didn’t appear to know what orders belonged to which table. Long wait after ordering. What a shame and won’t go again. There are better places in Wroxham

Only stopped for some coffee's on the side of the river. Reasonably priced. Food was served around lunchtime only. There was an area where we sat that needed attention the bricks on the floor outside as they had moved and may have been a trip hazard. The tables needed a clean after use as we did not see this happening, because of these issues I have had to mark it down.

Staff were very young and unhelpful. Actually quite rude. When asked for a menu after being seated was told ‘the menus are over there and you have to order at the bar’. Left drinks on the tray when delivered and when served the breakfast did not take the tray away. Had to take it back myself. Breakfast however was lovely. Hot and well cooked. Would not recommend due to customer service. Perhaps some staff training and customer service training would go a long way as the restaurant itself was very clean, in a good location and our dog was allowed in.

Beautiful location looking out onto Wroxham. Nice sheltered outdoor area. Went indoors to order food and drinks. Staff very young and obviously busy but there weren't too many people inside and only one other table outside. Stood at the bar waiting but no acknowledgement at all from the staff. After 10 minutes another member of staff was called to "take an order". Very young staff member came round the corner rolling her eyes and mopping her brow. She wrote or order down ,we paid a deposit returned to our seats to wait for our drinks. Drinks were with us well within 10 minutes. Beer was good, cappuccino lovely and tea good BUT cutlery was not clean, especially a family members teaspoon with a large thumb print on it. Food took another 25 minutes or so, but we weren't unduly bothered as we were quite happy watching the boats, swans etc. Food comes and looked good, except we were one meal short. Waitress, the only one that seemed clued up, quickly organised for another to be made as I went back to the bar to pay for it after the first girl had forgotten to put it on the order, or charge for it. Food on the whole was cheap, but just ok Shame about the staff, bar one, as this place could be a little goldmine. Maybe try to get some permanent staff instead of seasonal teenagers. On the whole this wasn't the worst place I have been, but certainly not the best either

Oh dear location great but service could be improved. Cheap and cheerful cafe with basic menu although they couldn’t do baked potato day we went. Food was OK abut took over 30 mins for toasted ciabatta and a sandwich. Staff were very poor, no communication skills and although not rude not helpful either. We asked for a high chair and the young girl didn’t know if they had one. One was brought but we had to clean it down. Could be a great place but probably won’t go back.

We found this place to be in a great location, being right on the waterside. The menu was general pub grub at a reasonable price, which suited us. We didn't find on this occasion the staff to be very attentive, with the person who took our order making a 'huff' noise when asked to take our order by a colleague who was busy, the when the order arrived there was a meal missing. The quality of the food was a little below what we'd expected, but factor in the price and you know why. Cutlery was grubby and needed to be wiped with a napkin before use. Coffees and beer was very nice though. Probably wouldn't come back.

Lovely spot over looking the river for lunch. There were a good selection of sandwiches which we were looking for. They were full of filling and were accompanied with a nice side salad. Good coffee too and a very reasonably price. On hand if you’ve just had a boat trip. Would definitely recommend.

Obnoxious feral server, I think they must of scouted the earth to find the cheapest sausage known to man beans piss weak egg overcooked, absolutely no idea what there doing, what's normally known as crossed off the list, avoid like the plague.

famlies of 10 persons to have drinks. One of the drink was a latte, too much milky, asked for extra coffee, and was surprised with the person who made the coffee, asking us to pay extra to have a proper latte. No manner, no respct for the customer and very very rude. Will not recommend or go there again. Horrible experience

Despite trip advisor stating this establishment is closed, it isn’t. Our first visit to Wherrymans. Looking across the water it holds a scenic position. Upon arrival I grabbed a couple of menus and we sat down. The table was wiped down but not clean and the menu choices were limited. However we settled as we only wanted a snack. Ordered mozzarella and tomato paninis and chips. Could not distinguish any taste between them. Just bland. We won’t be returning.

Where do I start? Unfriendly, table dirty and microwaved poor quality food. I sent my rock hard baked potato back & was told it wasn’t cooked properly because it was a larger potato. I’d like to know why the next ‘smaller’ potato was still rock hard 🤷🏼‍♀️. My husbands lasagna was sloppy & cold in places. I certainly won’t be returning

Al fresco full English breakfast. Lovely surroundings, high quality ingredients, super service and not too expensive…… especially nowadays. Only slight criticism, couldn’t make a personalised brekkie. Highly recommended. Charlie

Popped in for a light lunch as we have done several times before,but found both food and service very disappointing:dirty table,given a dirty glass,waitresses have no training,food was very below average, won’t be returning unless it is improved!

Have popped into this café several times in the past, always a friendly greeting and good food. Sadly things have changed ( possibly changed hands ). No 'personnel touch 'and long wait for 2 scones and 2 coffees. 'The cheese scones lacked cheese, had too much baking powder in them and just crumbled when sliced. We will be looking for another local café to eat at in future.

Went yesterday. Ordered ham egg and chips. The eggs were flat and the yoke was one lump. The chips looked as if they had been fried five times hard as hell. My wife ordered the lasagne and was told came with salad and chips. When came no chips and hard Garlic bread. She also asked the waitress for salad cream so she disappeared and never came back. Lovely setting but won’t be going back.

Always visit here for bruncht ater we depart up our boat. GOOD menu offers simple to mega breakfasts. Many good lunches, 4 happy stomachs. Enough said. Can sit in or out, your choice ...see you next time around.. never been let down here

Came here for lunch a few weeks ago with my partner and our two youngest as it was conveniently located next to Broads Tours (where we had hired a boat for the morning). Social distancing and covid measures were being adhered to (distancing, hand sanitiser, wipe down menus, taking our own drinks from the tray etc). There were no tables outside so we were shown inside instead (we were the only ones inside so distancing no problem there!). The menu offers a selection of lunch-time dishes at fairly reasonable prices - pizzas, sandwiches, salads and basics such as lasagne, burgers, pasta plus drinks and deserts. Service was polite and efficient. My partner had a ham and mustard sandwich which came with crisps and salad garnish (£5.25), my daughter had scampi chips and salad (£9.85), my son had cheeseburger with chips and salad garnish (£9.25) and I had a prawn in Marie Rose sauce sandwich which came served with crisps and salad garnish (£5.95). All the food was tasty and just the right amount for a lunch.

We had our meal which was nice but over priced. We paid for the meal and walked away checking everything had been paid which it had. Then the waitress ran after us and accosted us in the street accusing us of not paying nearly £50. However she was wafting cash at us in her hand which was the money she said we hadn't paid. When trying to explain she had made a mistake she and another waitress wouldnt listen and still tried to get us to pay the extra we didn't owe. The waitress the told us to f**k off and walked off. When asking to see the manager a cook turned up who wastnt interested at all that the staff had treated us in this way and when we asked for an apology he said we would have to run down the river after her. Totally disgusting. Never been treated in this way. No apology. No customer service. Dont bother visiting would give 0 circles but you cant.

Tried to get in here after someone recommended to us, but they were fully booked on the friday evening so booked for the Saturday evening. Nice table outside overlooking the water by Broads tours. Good choice on the menu, I had the chicken & bacon salad which was delicious, my husband had the lasagne with garlic bread which he enjoyed. Drinks were nice and cold and the service was really really friendly from the waiter and waitress. Its a busy little place - so I would book in advance

My husband and I had a nice lunch outside while watching the activities on the river. We decided to have a pizza which was perfectly large enough to share and cold drinks. The staff were really friendly and made sure that there was adequate spacing between customers. Our only negative was that one of the sanitising machines was empty and instead of marking it as out of order or refilling it, the staff must have told at least 10 customers whilst we were there that it was empty, not really acceptable at this time.

My wife and I had an evening meal here during a short break by the broads and did not book, just walked up.We ate inside but there are outside tables available with a nice view of the River Bure at Wroxham.I had a cold drink, a mushroom ravioli followed by an apple pie and ice cream and my wife had spaghetti bolognese and the food was very tasty and arrived quickly. The staff were friendly and had appropriate PPE. The tables were spaced out and overall I felt as though they were taking cleanliness seriously so felt safe eating here.I would eat here again if in the area.

Disappointed with the fact they didn’t have any Soya Milk. Nice to sit alongside the river but that was about it really.

After a nice trip on the broads (Belle of the Broads) recommended,it was time for some sustenance and after a short walk found the Wherrymans Restaurant it was very busy on the outside seating area so elected to go inside very clean and nicely set out staff very efficient and helpful because of time constraints we had granary sandwiches which were excellent and some cold lager which rounded off a great visit to Wroxham.Well worth a visit

Having something like breakfast in a tourist area can be very hit and miss. We had just completed a weeks holiday on a boat on the broads and just wanted a breakfast before heading home. The greeting from the waitress was prompt and her happy nature was a real pleasure. Between 6 of us some had the breakfast while others had the porridge. Service was quick and friendly. The food hot and good quality. Anyone who enjoys coffee should try it with a double shot. Truly excellent.

What a lovely little restaurant. Hidden away at the side of the boat hire site.After a few hours out on the Broads we were looking forward to a bite to eat.The staff welcomed us with smilling faces and welcoming maners.The food was exceptional and reasonably priced, i would recommend a visit here if any of your readers go to Wroxham

Having spent the preceding week eating (mostly) on a fairly cramped boat on the Broads, Wherryman's was the perfect place to have a last evening treat. Situated practically in the boatyard, on the very edge of the river, the outlook from our table was lovely (even if it was raining).The service was excellent - all staff we encountered were extremely friendly and efficient in their roles.The food was delicious. We opted for homely dishes (lasagne, bolognese) and they didn't disappoint.I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Wherryman's - absolutely no negatives whatsoever.

The restaurant weren't helpful in regards of dietary requirements and we were mis-informed when asking questions about a gluten free option. The waitresses didn't seem to know and weren't helpful. My father would have ordered a different meal entirely if he'd have known that despite explaining his dietary needs, he was brought garlic bread and told it wasn't! The service was very slow he didn't want to wait another hour for his food to come! Such a shame as it's such a great location. Sadly we won't be returning.

We went for a trip on the Broads and needed lunch. The Wherrymans it was and what an excellent choice. Great location at the water, nice and quick service and a varied menu. Pizza, pasta, scampi and chips, sandwiches, in other words, something for everyone. And the quality is good. An ideal place.

Popped in for a couple of drinks whilst waiting for boat hire. Service very friendly, nice place to sit and relax. Once drinks were finished we were not rushed. Would definitely visit again. Food looked nice also.

Me my wife and two young daughters visited recently and wanted to sit outside due to the heat but it had just had a passing rain shower, the staff dried the table and chairs with no fuss and presented us with a nice meal shortly afterwards, I would recommend a visit to them

We visited here prior to a boat trip on the Broads. We were only interested in tea and cake and the restaurant looked as if it catered primarily for breakfast and full meals. We were however surprised that it was relatively inexpensive and the fruit scone I had was in fact very good.

It was a hot day and we had a very nice salad lunch, with a pint of local ale, under a sun umbrella right next to the river. We watched the boats come and go and had a very nice hour.

On a coach trip we had time for lunch and chose this place. We enjoyed a tasty leak and potato soup and watched the world go by for a while. The staff are lovely and I can recommend this as the service was prompt and the food good.

We had a reasonable meal here. The menu is fairly limited - the cafe seems to be very popular for coffee. We both had 'Smothered Chicken' served with chips and salad. Drinks - again limited, the only draught beers are lagers. Service was courteous, friendly and prompt.

Great service, very tasty food (nice and simple for me but there were fancier options if that's what you fancy) and a view out onto the river. There's an outdoor area, too, but was too cold for that today.

We were lucky with the weather and managed to sit outside on a March day drinking coffee and eating breakfast sandwiches. There was a bacon and a sausage one ordered and both came promptly and tasted lovely. Hot coffee and watching the world go by was great. Staff were very friendly too!!

I had never noticed this place until a friend suggested I visited it. So I came to try it out. To start with I was the only person there so my review might not be balanced. I was greeted at the door and customer service was outstanding. I had a lovely seat overlooking the river. The place was spotless and bright. I loved the old painting. The food was simple but good. I went for scampi and chips. There were 12 pieces, it looked a bit over cooked, but was superb to eat. There was a good salad and good mixture and not too much. I was glad there was no salad dressing on it, just water. In my view the dressing hides the flavour. For desert I had a glorious summer fruit sundae. The lemonade was not the best I have had.
