The normal excellent food and service was simply missing tonight, enough to take this off our list fir the future. We visit here around 8 times a year. Tonight we booked a Christmas meal. Soup was lovely. Pate arrived as two large slices with no relish or chutney but only 3 very small pieces of toasted fresh bread - a request for more bread resulted in 2 cold white slices of store bread. Main meal arrived- one had 1 slice of gammon and 2 slices of turkey, the other 4 slices of turkey - all were very. Veru dry. Covered in a largely amount of congealed gravy. With frozen roast potatoes which were not hot, just warm. Vegetables of Brussels, carrots, broccoli and red cabbage along with pigs in blankets were all OK. No parsnips. We sent them both back. Two desserts - Christmas pudding which was lovely and a cheesecake which though huge, wasn't a cheesecake. Two meals with 2 Guinness cost us £60, after a ruffled waitress "comp'd" the drinks.

Well we never made it, was going to book a few days away but wanted to take our dog so emailed to find out any charges, what’s the charge for a dog, £20 was the abrupt response. I responded asking if this was for the while stay or per night (thinking it would be per stay to cover extra cleaning). Again a very abrupt response “per night”. Which is an absolute rip off. The customer service (responses) need working on a bit as they are not very friendly and very irritating.

Just returned from a short stay and I can't praise the staff enough for looking after my elderly father and I. We were made to feel right at home, which we greatly appreciated. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, cleaned and serviced daily. The tea, coffee, biscuits, and bottled mineral water was topped up everyday. Breakfast was plentiful and set us up for the whole day. We ate every evening in the restaurant and the food was tasty and well presented. On my father's birthday they even wrote a 'happy birthday ' message on his desert plate, which he was very chuffed about! Enjoyed my stay soon much that I'm going to return again early next year !!

Having been to The Ship Inn a few times over the years when visiting Mundesley, we booked a table a couple of weeks ago for Sunday lunch (Mother in laws 94th Birthday), our reservation time was changed to accommodate numbers. Upon arrival, we were shown to a table in the same room as a large loud party. Due to hard of hearing, this was unacceptable and we requested another table in the alternative restaurant room overlooking the garden. We were advised that these were all booked (not sure how) but the staff would not let us sit at any of the empty tables. The only alternative was into the bar area. The food was ordered, but alas it was some time before it arrived, having had to chase it (45 minutes). Observations to note; service appears to have deteriorated, portion size has reduced, and the beef lunch was gristly. A shame - quality has obviously gone down in recent times, as confirmed by other reports.

Had a perfect two night stay celebrating my wife's 30th Birthday, from 24/10-26/10. "Dog friendly" is a poor description for what is quite frankly a "Dog first" hotel and restaurant! The whole place was accepting of dogs and it was just brill to relax somewhere with our furry friend. The staff were impeccable and so very helpful with getting birthday banners to make the celebrations for my wife extra special. The food was incredible, and the service was prompt. A lovely breakfast each morning set us up for the day and the doggy sausage and doggy goody bag in the room was just a great touch. Have recommended it to so many already, really wonderful stay!!

We were lucky enough to be put in Room 6, I'm not sure I booked this!, but I was blown away with the room, the décor, the view, the dog goody bag, the bathroom, everything. I ate in the restaurant downstairs and the ribs were amazing. Breakfast too was also great, perfectly cooked. All the staff I dealt with were lovely. We loved our stay and I hope to be back very soon. Thank you for an amazing stay.

We stayed a couple of nights with a midweek offer they had, Sunday - Tuesday, starting off with an excellent Sunday roast. The staff are really lovely and friendly and the room we had was one of their 'cosy' rooms, very clean and comfortable. We were above the kitchens and near the extractor fan which was a bit noisy, but would switch off at 9:30pm. Overall though we had a very comfortable stay and the food here is excellent with a nice choice of beers. The location is excellent for touring around this beautiful part of Norfolk.

We dined here for our last night stay around the Norfolk coast. The food was a very big let down. It tasted cheap and from a frozen Iceland packet but with high pub prices! Awful - service was bad - food was OK - apart from I ordered Large Scampi & Chips - 7 pieces of Scampi does not mean large in my eyes and it seemed like I had got the 'last of the chips' as all I had was a pile of 'bits of chips' all the crunchy small bits. When I pointed this out to the waitress, all I got was, the fryers are closed now so nothing I can do ! At the end of the meal, we asked for coffee - at approx 8.10pm to be told - sorry we wash and shut down the coffee machine at 8.00 so you cant have coffee - we were not notified of this beforehand so we could have ordered coffee beforehand so we didn't end up having any dessert or coffees as we were disgusted by the attitude. We then waited 20 mins to get someone to come take our payment. I approached the manager and said that we didn't have the best experience, all he said was 'thanks for your feedback' !!! No apology and no reaction - so that's the last time I will visit - and its a local for us, but not now - I will never use this establishment again - or recommend it to anyone who visits.

I have to start by saying this was the best cauliflower cheese I have ever eaten. The beef roast dinner was superb. But..... the fist point of contact in the restaurant can only be described as a staff canteen and rest room. I spent my whole meal feeling I was in a staff area. And to say who I can only think was the senior female elder blonde manager sitting vaping whilst talking to other staff probably explained the attitude of why this is happening. Would I go back for the food YES. Will I go back No.

My wife and I have been coming to the Ship Inn Mundesley and have always had good, well prepared food. Today however was the exception. My wife had gluten free haddock which was very nice. I opted for the plaice which was mainly hard overcooked batter with a wafer thin small piece of fish inside. Both our portion of chips were very tired, tough and virtually inedible. We had each ordered peas which didn’t come until we asked for them, my garden peas were not cooked. Everyone else in the restaurant were served with plates however ours were in cardboard takeaway boxes. Not good, will probably look elsewhere in future.

A lovely building in a great location overlooking the sea, with lots of outdoor seating. Extremely dog friendly too. We didn't try the food on this occasion but the menu looked enticing. One down side though (albeit a very important one), most of the members of staff were surly and unwelcoming. This was a real shame but I suppose this is down to management who should lead by example! Situated just a stone's throw from the sea, the pub offers breathtaking views of the North Sea, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. Didn’t stay so unable to comment or rate the rooms. Our visit was for an evening meal and drinks only. I have been coming to the ship for years with family and had booked a table a few weeks ago for evening dinner on Saturday with my husband and two dogs. The food itself was very yummy. Description of the fish and chips a little misleading as it reads as though you have curry sauce included and then the option to have either mushy peas or garden peas. FYI: This is incorrect and they will now charge you more if you want sauce AND peas. despite not doing this in the past. Waiting staff all very friendly and sweet to our dogs, when they were able, however the problem was the location of our table and attention to give in general. Even though I had booked a long time in advance , the restaurant was fully booked and busy when we went and we ended up being seated on the end of what felt like someone else’s table! It was a small 2 seater table that had been split from the 4 seater next to it. This meant that our entire dinner experience was shared with strangers (very kind nice people may I add but not very intimate given we could all hear each other conversations!!). Additionally as the table had been pulled out it meant that we were sitting in the main entrance walkway so constantly has people standing over and around us waiting to be seated or waiting for their table to be clear and ready. Ordinarily this wouldn’t have been the best experience but it really wasn’t fair on our dogs as we spent the whole meal trying to stop them from being stood on and move them out of the way of others. There really wasn’t any space for them as when we put them on other side of our chairs, they were then under the people’s table and legs next to us as we were all squished in so close. The food was good but service lacking. Restaurant fully booked so we couldn’t move and it felt like we were an afterthought/walk in and unexpected guests, instead of planned in advance guests with plenty of notice given as I had done. We were also only offered drinks once and had to ask for more at the end of our meal as we were left without. This really sadly put a downer on our experience and we probably won’t return to sit inside the restaurant again.

Booked a table in the restaurant on Tuesday for the following Thursday teatime, 5:45 pm (as booking in advance was essential). Nice location, pleasant seating indoors, and friendly staff on arrival. We ordered drinks and starters which came in a timely fashion. Food and drinks were really good and we were looking forward to our mains; these never materialised when we decided to call it a day and cut our losses at 7:20 pm! By the time we paid and left at 7:30 pm the mains still hadn't turned up. After growing impatient I asked a waitress if she could chase up our main course and she said she would, and would be back, we never saw her again. I asked a second waitress who came back and said that they were plating up, we waited 10 minutes and then decided to leave. In the meantime no apologies were offered, they didn't even ask if we would like any more drinks! What was happening was the Ship Inn were doing covers everywhere, not just the restaurant. They were taking orders from the bar and outside. You could tell the staff were run off their feet and god only knows what it must have been like working in the kitchen. This is an easy fix, if you're running a restaurant, run a restaurant! I can appreciate that during the summer holiday establishments have to make hay while the sun shines, but if you have to book in advance to get a seat in the restaurant, you do anticipate that you'd be preferentially served. It made me feel like the proprietors just saw customers as cash machines on the night. I'll not be recommending the experience.

Have just arrived in Norfolk today and after settling in our caravan we decided to find a nice place to eat. So Google found the Ship Inn on arrival the parking area was so small not suitable for cars whatsoever, then came the farce of ordering our food, the “waitress” at the till had an appalling attitude, saying “order now and your starters come at the same time as the mains, just so you’re aware” and when I asked why, was told due to how busy they are!! Really! I have never in my life of restaurant dining heard of starters and mains arriving at the same time? Then was told I had to walk around the corner to order drinks at a separate bar that had 12 people waiting to be served by one bar woman! Talk about disorganised. When the food arrived (mains first by the way) starters followed 10 mins later, the fish dishes I ordered were tasteless and the calamari was lukewarm. So we ate our food and left immediately. I spent way over £60 here for a terrible experience. This place has an idyllic setting, ruined by complete disorganisation and rude staff. So our first dining impression of our first visit to Norfolk was terrible. Won’t return to this pub again!

Our visit to have lunch was a delightful experience overall. The location is charming, and we were promptly seated by the window upon arrival. The waitress kindly brought us chilled bottle of tap water, which was a thoughtful gesture. We all opted for baguettes, and they were scrumptious with generous fillings. Each baguette was accompanied by crisps, coleslaw, and salad. However, the salads were a bit inconsistent; one lacked cucumber and the other lacked tomatoes, but we managed by sharing around. The only downside was the extra chips we ordered. They were not very fresh - they were lukewarm and slightly tough. At £4 per portion, they were overpriced for the quality. Nevertheless, the service was good, and we enjoyed our time at The Ship Inn. With a slight improvement in the chip quality, this would be a perfect spot for a meal in Mundesley.

I've been here for lunch with friends on a couple of occasions in the last few months and I am really impressed with the food, the ambience and service. Nick the general manager is always so friendly and last week we were looked after by a lovely lady who's name I'm afraid I didn't catch, but she was so attentive and the whole experience was excellent. Thank you!

We spent a lovely night at the Ship Inn in the middle of March after my wife was given a voucher for her birthday. It did not disappoint that's for sure. We were warmly greeted at the check in by a member of staff who directed us to our room for the night. We stayed in Room #1. The room had a great view of the sea in which you could sit and watch the world go by in the comfy seats. It had knick knacks all around the room themed on old cigarettes and nautical. Which was eclectic but fun. The bed was comfortable and the facilities included tea, coffee, biscuits, and water. Along with a hair dryer, iron, and ironing board. Also, it has to be said that the bathroom was amazing with a great drench shower to use I did not want to get out. We opted for food at the restaurant and again that didn't disappoint either. My wife went for whitebate as a starter which was lovely and cost £8.95. I opted for mozerella sticks and chilli sauce. Again that was very nice and £8.95 too. My wife then decided to go for large cod and chips which are cooked at The Catch chip shop next door and were HUGE! So much so she couldn't finish it all. That was £15.95 and well worth it. I decided to go for Cumberland sausage and scallion mash with seasonal vegetables and onion gravy. This was £13.95 for a large portion and was delicious. We both decided that we were just too full for a dessert and retired to our room. Breakfast was served between 9 & 10 am and was delicious as well. The coffee was the best I've had for a long time and I do know it was a member of the staff's own recipe. The staff were lovely! Very friendly and chatty and seemed to enjoy their job which is always a good sign. So, a big thank you to them for making us feel welcome. I would definitely recommend staying at The Ship Inn. Look out for special deals early in the year as well.

Four of us booked a meal for 7:30 one evening, we were hurried to chose our meals as the kitchen closed at guess what? 7:30. WHY not tell us that when booking and say come at 7:00 or 7:15? Two of us had fish and chips, one had the Chilli con Carne and one had the chicken and we all said - bland and absolutely tasteless, the fish and chips werent greasy - that's all you could say about that, one had curry sauce ALLEGEDLY The Chilli so bland and tasteless we asked for chilli sauce but they had none, then asked for some Tabasco sauce to liven the dish but apparently the bar had none of that , we were staying round the corner so one of us hurried to the house to get some sauce - just VERY disappointing , interesting no one asked if the meal was fine , guess they knew the answer?

Spent a few days in Norfolk with my son & his wife and ended our holiday eating at the Kings Head. We knew it was good as we visited Norfolk a couple of years back and had a good meal here. The staff were amazing, the young man in charge was an excellent host. My disabled son asked for a French trim for his chicken. It was done with a smile and no eyes raised. All our meals were excellent and when we visit Norfolk again we will definitely eat here.

Site was ok for a pitch up site. Very noisy near and close to the road, ok for one night I suppose if your stuck. The Green Man pub very basic and not like the pictures are showing on Trip Advisor. Not the most scenic site in Norfolk. Will not return .

A stunning place in a stunning location, let down by mis management, no food available on the menu, which I read is the norm. Not satisfactory as we were residents who didn't want to travel outside of the pub. 30 seconds walk to roys, which was ideal on a shopping trip. But the food when it did arrive was tepid! And not very enjoyable...but the icing on the cake was when we sat there for three hours and witnessed the young barman who truly did not smile once...not a welcoming sight for customers!

Great staff, amazing views, nice range of beers. They continue to do a great job on the pier, we are so lucky to have it. It's a treasure that has been beautifully maintained.
