We had a wonderful lunch at the Ship, Paula looked after us so well and made my little boy’s day. The pub has an amazing location and a great garden.

Lovely pub. Everything about the building and location is great. Grunting non eye contacting staff. Felt a bit like more of a nuisance than a customer who enables them to be paid. If it was my place I’d pay more money for staff that understand front of house catering and inject some personality and warmth into the place. A real shame. Hello is easy and welcoming. If you don’t like your jobs move on to stacking shelves at night.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Ship Inn. The room was great, with an amazing view and fantastic bathroom. The bed was lovely and in all we could not have asked for more. The fish and chips shop that is part of the pub is brilliant and such a great idea! Sitting in the garden with the stunning view and the great chips could not have been better. The evening meal in the restaurant was fantastic, with massive portions and great choices. The gin selection was also brilliant. Breakfast was nice, although slightly odd that all of those who stayed had to come down for breakfast between 9-10. It was definitely a dog friendly location as all of the others that stayed had dogs, which isn’t an issue for us as we loved dogs. We would definitely come back, as I have a lot of memories from when I was younger in Mundesley and this was a great place to stay.

Topped with a huge Yorkshire pudding, which was perfection (crisp and light), the roast beef dinner was fabulous. Very generous slices of tender beef, five roast potatoes accompanied by whole carrots, cauliflower cheese and broccoli with hot flavoursome gravy - we couldn't fault the roast dinner, nor the service. Highly recommended.

We had a disappointing Meal at the Ship on this occasion, the chips which were served with our meal were of a poor quality and not hot. Our biggest concern however was witnessing a Waitress clear the table next to us from the previous diners. Instead of removing the water glasses to be washed she picked up each glass to see if they had been used, deciding they hadn't she left them on the table ready for the next diners. This unfortunately showed a lack of basic hygiene and made us worry if other hygiene corners were being cut at the Ship!

We booked a last minute overnight stay here as a trial one with our two dogs for a little early birthday treat. Well we were not disappointed. A brilliant location right next to the beach access. We had Sunday dinner on arrival and the food was delicious and plentiful. We had a king size room and were really pleased with the vast size of the room which also had a large bathroom. The room came with great wardrobe space plus plenty of additional storage at the bedside. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits are all complimentary in the room as well as bottled water. The staff were all super friendly and helpful and great with our dogs. We will definitely be returning.

Having found the ship inn on Expedia and booking it - we felt we were punished for this from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out ! Our room was very small and above the kitchen extractor and the outside fish and chip shop - I asked to move but was told we couldn’t as we booked via Expedia and should have booked direct! Although other rooms were vacant as the keys were in the doors all the time we were there we were told it was as we didn’t book direct we couldn’t move rooms Breakfast would have been £17.50 pp per day as we booked via Expedia. …. And were again told we should have booked direct as it’s included then - but it’s £70 on top if you book via Expedia - so we walked up to the beach cafe The bathroom flooded each day and I had to mop the floor as the shower tray was so small it overflowed - the team knew this was a problem Advertised you can pay by Amex…. But you can’t as the commission is too much so they stopped accepting it The staff serving breakfast and the resident manager were very pleasant - the staff on check in and check out were a bit abrasive and very anti Expedia. On check out when I said I felt we had been penalised for booking via Expedia - I was simply told I should have booked direct! If a business doesn’t want to pay commission to Expedia they should not advertise on the website - and they should certainly not punish the customers - it is not the customers fault Certainly not value for money for the room and experience we were afforded

The normal excellent food and service was simply missing tonight, enough to take this off our list fir the future. We visit here around 8 times a year. Tonight we booked a Christmas meal. Soup was lovely. Pate arrived as two large slices with no relish or chutney but only 3 very small pieces of toasted fresh bread - a request for more bread resulted in 2 cold white slices of store bread. Main meal arrived- one had 1 slice of gammon and 2 slices of turkey, the other 4 slices of turkey - all were very. Veru dry. Covered in a largely amount of congealed gravy. With frozen roast potatoes which were not hot, just warm. Vegetables of Brussels, carrots, broccoli and red cabbage along with pigs in blankets were all OK. No parsnips. We sent them both back. Two desserts - Christmas pudding which was lovely and a cheesecake which though huge, wasn't a cheesecake. Two meals with 2 Guinness cost us £60, after a ruffled waitress "comp'd" the drinks.

I responded asking if this was for the while stay or per night (thinking it would be per stay to cover extra cleaning). Again a very abrupt response “per night”. Which is an absolute rip off. The customer service (responses) need working on a bit as they are not very friendly and very irritating.

We ate every evening in the restaurant and the food was tasty and well presented. On my father's birthday they even wrote a 'happy birthday ' message on his desert plate, which he was very chuffed about! Enjoyed my stay soon much that I'm going to return again early next year !!

Having been to The Ship Inn a few times over the years when visiting Mundesley, we booked a table a couple of weeks ago for Sunday lunch (Mother in laws 94th Birthday), our reservation time was changed to accommodate numbers. Upon arrival, we were shown to a table in the same room as a large loud party. Due to hard of hearing, this was unacceptable and we requested another table in the alternative restaurant room overlooking the garden. We were advised that these were all booked (not sure how) but the staff would not let us sit at any of the empty tables. The only alternative was into the bar area. The food was ordered, but alas it was some time before it arrived, having had to chase it (45 minutes). Observations to note; service appears to have deteriorated, portion size has reduced, and the beef lunch was gristly. A shame - quality has obviously gone down in recent times, as confirmed by other reports.

Had a perfect two night stay celebrating my wife's 30th Birthday, from 24/10-26/10. "Dog friendly" is a poor description for what is quite frankly a "Dog first" hotel and restaurant! The whole place was accepting of dogs and it was just brill to relax somewhere with our furry friend. The staff were impeccable and so very helpful with getting birthday banners to make the celebrations for my wife extra special. The food was incredible, and the service was prompt. A lovely breakfast each morning set us up for the day and the doggy sausage and doggy goody bag in the room was just a great touch. Have recommended it to so many already, really wonderful stay!!

Awful - service was bad - food was OK - apart from I ordered Large Scampi & Chips - 7 pieces of Scampi does not mean large in my eyes and it seemed like I had got the 'last of the chips' as all I had was a pile of 'bits of chips' all the crunchy small bits. When I pointed this out to the waitress, all I got was, the fryers are closed now so nothing I can do ! At the end of the meal, we asked for coffee - at approx 8.10pm to be told - sorry we wash and shut down the coffee machine at 8.00 so you cant have coffee - we were not notified of this beforehand so we could have ordered coffee beforehand so we didn't end up having any dessert or coffees as we were disgusted by the attitude. We then waited 20 mins to get someone to come take our payment. I approached the manager and said that we didn't have the best experience, all he said was 'thanks for your feedback' !!! No apology and no reaction - so that's the last time I will visit - and its a local for us, but not now - I will never use this establishment again - or recommend it to anyone who visits.

I opted for the plaice which was mainly hard overcooked batter with a wafer thin small piece of fish inside. Both our portion of chips were very tired, tough and virtually inedible. We had each ordered peas which didn’t come until we asked for them, my garden peas were not cooked. Didn’t stay so unable to comment or rate the rooms. Our visit was for an evening meal and drinks only. I have been coming to the ship for years with family and had booked a table a few weeks ago for evening dinner on Saturday with my husband and two dogs. The food itself was very yummy. Description of the fish and chips a little misleading as it reads as though you have curry sauce included and then the option to have either mushy peas or garden peas. FYI: This is incorrect and they will now charge you more if you want sauce AND peas. despite not doing this in the past. Waiting staff all very friendly and sweet to our dogs, when they were able, however the problem was the location of our table and attention to give in general. Even though I had booked a long time in advance , the restaurant was fully booked and busy when we went and we ended up being seated on the end of what felt like someone else’s table! It was a small 2 seater table that had been split from the 4 seater next to it. This meant that our entire dinner experience was shared with strangers (very kind nice people may I add but not very intimate given we could all hear each other conversations!!). Additionally as the table had been pulled out it meant that we were sitting in the main entrance walkway so constantly has people standing over and around us waiting to be seated or waiting for their table to be clear and ready. Ordinarily this wouldn’t have been the best experience but it really wasn’t fair on our dogs as we spent the whole meal trying to stop them from being stood on and move them out of the way of others. There really wasn’t any space for them as when we put them on other side of our chairs, they were then under the people’s table and legs next to us as we were all squished in so close. The food was good but service lacking. Restaurant fully booked so we couldn’t move and it felt like we were an afterthought/walk in and unexpected guests, instead of planned in advance guests with plenty of notice given as I had done. We were also only offered drinks once and had to ask for more at the end of our meal as we were left without. This really sadly put a downer on our experience and we probably won’t return to sit inside the restaurant again.

Booked a table in the restaurant on Tuesday for the following Thursday teatime, 5:45 pm (as booking in advance was essential). Nice location, pleasant seating indoors, and friendly staff on arrival. We ordered drinks and starters which came in a timely fashion. Food and drinks were really good and we were looking forward to our mains; these never materialised when we decided to call it a day and cut our losses at 7:20 pm! By the time we paid and left at 7:30 pm the mains still hadn't turned up. After growing impatient I asked a waitress if she could chase up our main course and she said she would, and would be back, we never saw her again. I asked a second waitress who came back and said that they were plating up, we waited 10 minutes and then decided to leave. In the meantime no apologies were offered, they didn't even ask if we would like any more drinks! What was happening was the Ship Inn were doing covers everywhere, not just the restaurant. They were taking orders from the bar and outside. You could tell the staff were run off their feet and god only knows what it must have been like working in the kitchen. This is an easy fix, if you're running a restaurant, run a restaurant! I can appreciate that during the summer holiday establishments have to make hay while the sun shines, but if you have to book in advance to get a seat in the restaurant, you do anticipate that you'd be preferentially served. It made me feel like the proprietors just saw customers as cash machines on the night. I'll not be recommending the experience.

We have gone here every year for the last 5 years for our Sunday roast we always really enjoy it and book before we leave Essex , just before going today I read reviews and thought we were going to be very disappointed, how wrong were we , our roast beef was delicious and our deserts amazing , staff were all great , attentive and helpful, I mentioned I’d read reviews they explained they had a chef walk out recently on shift which had caused bedlam !!!! They have now employed a new chef and things are running smoothly again. So please don’t be put off by reviews try it I’m sure like us you will come out full and happy

Have just arrived in Norfolk today and after settling in our caravan we decided to find a nice place to eat. So Google found the Ship Inn on arrival the parking area was so small not suitable for cars whatsoever, then came the farce of ordering our food, the “waitress” at the till had an appalling attitude, saying “order now and your starters come at the same time as the mains, just so you’re aware” and when I asked why, was told due to how busy they are!! Really! I have never in my life of restaurant dining heard of starters and mains arriving at the same time? Then was told I had to walk around the corner to order drinks at a separate bar that had 12 people waiting to be served by one bar woman! Talk about disorganised. When the food arrived (mains first by the way) starters followed 10 mins later, the fish dishes I ordered were tasteless and the calamari was lukewarm. So we ate our food and left immediately. I spent way over £60 here for a terrible experience. This place has an idyllic setting, ruined by complete disorganisation and rude staff. So our first dining impression of our first visit to Norfolk was terrible. Won’t return to this pub again!

We visited this pub after a high recommendation from good friends due to location & attached take away chippy, very unusual! The staff are really friendly, delightful Woodfordes beers, & we chose to eat in the pub & were well pleased with both starters (Southern fried chicken strips with a delicious sauce) & our main course fish & chips with peas, very tasty. There is some terrific views from the outdoor areas both the large garden & the sea & beach view outdoor little cabins. This is one amazing pub all round (& we didn't experience the sea view restaurant!) give it a try soon, you'll not regret it one iota 🍺🍸🍷👌👌

Whilst staying local for a few days break we used The Ship for a take out and dinner. Both experiences were pleasing and to be recommended.

Sadly, not just one thing went wrong, but a long list and all down to service. Staff as nice as they were, clearly didn't know the menu, didn't communicate bwell, should have taken notes of the orders and were slow to get the order out together. Good stuff: it was a nice restaurant, good atmosphere and food was really good. Could be a winner and maybe this was just a bad day.

Site was ok for a pitch up site. Very noisy near and close to the road, ok for one night I suppose if your stuck. The Green Man pub very basic and not like the pictures are showing on Trip Advisor. Not the most scenic site in Norfolk. Will not return .
