The Ship Inn in Suffolk Coastal

We went on a Wednesday lunchtime the pub was extremely busy but the service levels were very good and the staff were friendly and engaging. Our two dogs were made very welcome. The food was well prepared and presented. 3 of us had the fish and chips which was excellent and the vegetarian curry was also very good. If you have dogs this is a great place to stop after a walk along the river. Highly recommended.

The food was delicious will definitely go again when we are on holiday there was 6 of us we all had different meals and we didn’t have to wait all came out at same time

Visit this pub quite often but it has improved every time recently and this week was no exception. The service was prompt, friendly and attentive. Very good choices on menu. Whilst others had fish I chose a curry which was excellent. Everyone happy. The pub has enlarged it's facilities with large outside patio and garden tables with shades and a children's area. Well done everyone.

Very disappointing. We had fish and chips and a few cold mushy peas. Fish was small but charged us for a large. When we complained we were told that some pieces of fish look large but are small and some small are large! Very Orwellian. Offered us a dessert to compensate. Should've given part refund. Expensive too which would not have bothered us if meal was good value but they weren't.

Been here twice recently and had an excellent lunch both times. Menu is one up from the usual pub fare - we had an excellent swordfish meal on our first visit and the baked crevettes as a starter were great. Our second visit consisted of nine people and I must say that the service was excellent. Friendly and very efficient. Very impressed with the Deben Inn Group - they certainly have the knack for overseeing excellent venues.

We went for lunch today on a spur of the moment decision. It was not an ideal experience. The welcome was non-existent. We were ignored by the unfriendly lady behind the bar. I had to initiate a conversation with another colleague to ask if they had a table. We decided on our food. The same lady behind the bar was still far from friendly when she took our order. For what is was the food was overpriced and not that great and there was not a lot of it. The scotch egg was cold - for £9.00 it could have been warm at least. The flatbread and hummus was a joke. A thimble of hummus - the ketchup they brought was bigger than the humus’s portion served. Overall a not so friendly welcome and mediocre overpriced food.

Lunched at The Ship today, 4 friends. Food was excellent, staff were attentive. The food was presented very well. Costs were average.

Wandered up here from the marina and chatted to a couple of friendly folk sitting outside, which set the scene for a convivial, welcoming evening in this very atmospheric pub. It's an Adnams serving pub, so you can't go too far wrong, but the food also happened to be top notch and interesting. Will definitely visit again.

Took my golf squad here for a friday night meal after 36 holes of golf and wasn't disappointed. I had the most amazing caesar salad and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals too. The place was very busy, however we were serevd asap and it was excellent. Totally understand why its so busy - highly recommend and would definitely go again if in the area.

We booked a semi-private area at The Ship for a reception (around 25 people0 following a funeral. It was perfect for this - we went for a buffet option and the food was delicious and plentiful. The staff were helpful and kind, bar service was great. It's a very nice pub with plenty of character and is just a great setting.

The Ship was packed when we arrived, as any good place should be on Mothering Sunday! We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. Great choice of menu! No awful set special menu but a good selection and a choice of roasts. Both the lamb and beef roasts were ordered for our table and all came piping hot with extra gravy, crispy roast potatoes and a selection of fresh vegetables. After delicious desserts and a gift of a cute scented candle for the Mum's we left the Ship happy with both the quality of the food and the attentive service. Thank you

We had an amazing meal picked from a wide variety of different dishes served by a very friendly and welcoming member of staff. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Taken here by a friend for an early birthday meal on 1/2/24. Had the chicken stack. Was extremely poorly with food poisoning that night and the next day. Noted that another reviewer suffered the same as me only a couple of months previously. Definitely will not be going back.

Great pub l had a steak cooked perfectly there was five of us we all had different meals which were all brilliant well worth a trip to the ship

This place seems to have zero space for anyone wanting a drink just to avoid any confusion with people actually mistaking this place for a PUB! Walked in - every table was set up like a diner. I asked a member of staff if there's any space available for us to have a quick coffee and beer - this was around midday. We were told a seating area was free as it wasn't booked until 1230pm. Unfortunately, the people who made the 1230 booking, then turned up at 1210. And rather than them be told their table wasn't available until 1230, instead the staff began to stare over at us - suddenly we began to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Not content with simply trying to stare us out, eventually one of them braved the "confrontation" to ask us to move - rather than simply politely as the early arrivals to exercise a little patience. Or maybe not book every single table to maximise profit over customer experience? We won't be back.

A Birthday evening dinner with family. Vanessa and Dani were outstanding and went above and beyond,especially as they were a member of staff down. The menu is well thought out and the food is very well presented. The Levington Ship is a lovely Deben Inn overlooking the River Orwell. Visit either with family and friends as a couple or solo. It won't disappoint.

I had the winter vegetable wellington off the Christmas menu. Rather dry and unexciting. Starter filo prawns, more pastry than prawn. Very good service but not over impressed at the price.

Beautiful location,across the road from a footpath down to the river. Large car park and lots of outside seating. Dog friendly which is great. Inside the low beams and tiles floors give it a lovely feel.The staff are efficient and friendly. Good is brilliant and nobody could leave still hungry.the vegan burger is very tasty.
