Definitely recommend, the new management are doing a great job although struggling to get their contact info on line due to difficulties in removing old phone number from socials. The menu is just what you want from a pub - tasty comfort food with a good selection of meat and veggie options and some lovely desserts. Recommend popping in to look at the menu and book a table. Will definitely be visiting weekly

Beer festival, very good, good choice of beers at a good price.

Fantastic late breakfast yesterday, the best tasting gammon steaks I've ever had, no exaggeration.

Owners are very welcoming! Offered the children sweets upon first time meeting them, good-hearted people. They leave out a set of games to play in their garden, beer was lovely, food was exquisite and overall atmosphere made me feel like I had been going in there for years!

Menu online is old I had fillet of fish burger, tons of chips but fillet very over cooked, so fish had disappeared. Five bean chilli was tiny, loads of rice but was probably the 1 minute microwave in the bag

Wow, what a gem of a place. Only gave it a 4 for atmosphere because we were the only ones sat inside, everyone else was in the beer garden. Two 3 course meals with drinks for under £50! And the meals were delicious. I had the beef lasagne, massive portion, lovely and hot, and served with garlic bread, salad, and WATERMELON. Who knew ...... Highly recommend this place.

We visited 4th May, under new ownership. Owners were accommodating and the waitress was helpful and pleasant. The food really was not very enjoyable. This pub has gone down hill over the last few years. The village is hoping the new owners can turn this around - it appears they may struggle. Such a shame as this used to be a great local pub.

Lovely meal. Looking forward to eating indoors as the meal was spoilt a bit by smokers and the cold. Definitely going back though.2024... awaiting 3rd new owner since my review. Tried both previous and food was poor. Have related accordingly, but will do so again when retested.

We were looking for a dog friendly pub to stop off at for lunch on our way to the coast. This is a really cosy traditional local pub and the staff were very welcoming. The menu was nicely priced. The food was decent and we enjoyed our stop off. The rear garden was perfect for the dog but sadly it was too cold and wet to sit outside although there was a nice covered seating area. We all enjoyed our food (2 adults and 2 boys) and it is well worth a visit if you like a traditional pub. We will certainly stop off here again.

Lovely country pub, lots of history

Was quite chilly when we entered for a booked Sunday lunch. Not many other customers when we arrived but did get busier as time went on. Small group of us, meals were not brought out at the same time, in fact it took quite a while between first meal and last meal to be brought out, we were conscious of the fact that the food was cooling, consequently some of us had to begin eating before the last plate was brought out. Food was tasty but the overall experience wasn't great.

Lovely and welcoming, nice to find a traditional pub that's happy for dogs to enter. The food is awesome, we had an amazing Sunday roast.

Just disappointing really. Went there with the family because of the great reviews and really expected something better. When we first arrived we were told that there are no roast dinners left available, which wasn’t massively inconvenient. However when we were sat we were told that there were no chicken, fish and steak. Food is definitely overpriced for what you are served. The drinks were flat, despite being complementary as an apology for the lack of food. Service was slow as the waiter was unaware of what food was available and what wasn’t, but she was a nice girl. The restaurant had made no effort to contact us about the lack of food, however told us that there sister restaurant was available and still had all of their food, but we didn’t end up going as it was 20 minutes away and very inconvenient. Definitely won’t be returning any time soon, but will be heading to the Queens head.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Everything was delicious and the gravy ( the most important ingredient) was superb.

Auntie and I visited tonight. The same owners as The Gamekeeper on Old Buckenham. First visit since change of hands. We had the deal 2 steaks and 2 drinks for £35. Was delicious. Auntie had a free dessert as it was her birthday today. I also ordered dessert. The lady on shift today was very welcoming and friendly. The environment was clean. We were the only ones in til around 7pm and then it became buiser. Music on but not loudly so was able to chat away. Recommend food and drinks here.

Superb food. Battered haddock, chips and peas enjoyed by two. Duck breast on black pudding mash with creamed mushrooms was absolutely superb and wonderful tasting dish. Pot of tea for two and Amstel lager. Nicely decorated with a bar area and table seating and a proper restaurant area off. Wood burner stove keeping us warm although bit cool near the front door entrance where we sat. There is a door to gain access to the front door which was shut but when two guests left it was discovered the actual front door had been left open. Disabled access is through the rear garden area. The toilets are at the rear near the garden access into the building. There is a good parking area to one side giving good access to the rear entrance. A very pleasurable visit and we will certainly return in the future.

Service was slow and the kitchen seemed to have run out of most food, including burgers, potatoes, duck and mozzarella for the pizzas. In-laws ordered gammon, egg and chips (the egg was missing) and haddock, chips and mushy peas (mushy peas were missing). Their chips were weirdly brown and sweet. I ordered pizza with veg and olives (with cheddar instead of mozzarella) - olives were missing. Most of the chairs here are uncomfy and there aren't enough cushions to go around. Pulled pork loaded fries were pretty good though, so 2 stars ⭐⭐

The food was good. When our mains arrived I asked for another beer, it never arrived. We sat there for 15mins after we had eaten, no sign of any staff. We went to the bar to pay but no staff behind the bar. After a couple minutes, I rang the 🔔 A staff member appeared we paid and left as quickly as possible.

Had lunch today and the fish n chips was amazing, the piece of fish was huge & the chunky chips lovely, very enjoyable. Well done to the chef Stuart & the service staff were very attentive and pleasant. We would definitely go again.

Nice old style pub with a big beer garden at the rear, good food and not to pricey, friendly helpful staff. Will be back.

Stayed at the local hotel/Spa down the road and didn't want to spend another £100 quid on food for dinner so came here instead ,a nice quiet little pub that does amazing food ,good beer, would even say it was better than the hotel which is four stars ,well worth visiting, my only gripe is its too far to travel to come here more often as I live in great yarmouth

Awful. No atmosphere, not enough furniture and no beer!

Food wasn't cheap but was plentiful and hot when brought to the table. Service was good and friendly.

Enjoyed our late Sunday lunch. Roast Beef and Roast Pork served with large Yorkshire Puddings, selection of vegetables and rich gravy. Our only criticism was that the vegetables could have done with being hotter.

visited this local pub for a gin and i got a tiny glass not a gin glass and a tiny vodka for a lot of money .looked at menu very pricey and garden not that inviting either sorry peoples you need to up your game here !! the queens head hethersett much better - service , food , value for money .

Really nice pub with big outdoor space. Very friendly staff. Quick service. Plenty of parking. Sat in garden and watched the squirrels. Lots of seating. Didn't eat here but would like to give it a try. Would visit again.

The relaunch of this pub has been executed beautifully. The food was amazing, there was a nice atmosphere and the service was very well paced.

Nice drinking establishment, not much space for a restaurant area

Reasonable but won't be going back! Food was mostly solid though two meal issues out of six people. Ingredients on the menu which were ordered and not sent out as they had run out with no notice or replacement offered. Staff were good, but slow. More a drinker pub than eaters.

Been a long time since we’ve been to the Kings Head but I can safely say we’ll be back again soon. The service was excellent and the food was absolutely superb. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Would have been nice to have had all three meals at the same time, rather than one of us getting her light bite around half an hour before the other meals. Service a bit slow. Food very good

Friendly welcome excellent food. Fixed lunch menu is very affordable and above and beyond what we expected. Definitely recommend a visit and e will be returning.

First time there since re openjng and quite impressed. Barman very friendly. Comfy atmosphere. Menu looks a litte limited but maybe worth a try.

Went here last night for the first time in 3 years and what an amazing evening we had! It’s the best I’ve seen this pub in years! Amazing food and the most friendly accommodating and attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble! Great job guys! We will most definitely be back!

Had a lovely meal last weekend with my family, food was delicious, we sat outside as we had our dog . The improvements inside are excellent, Shame there weren’t more people for a bit of atmosphere. Will definitely be back - more locals need to use this lovely old building that’s on our doorstep!

Called in on a Sunday afternoon for a drink, sat in the beer garden which was lovely and decided on some lunch, I had the pork belly and it was delicious and my hubby had the burger. Would defenatly come back again

A wonderful stop to refresh after a nice walk. A quaint and characterful place. Good size beer garden and an inviting menu. Friendly, and comfortable. definitely a place to return to. Whats not to like?

Called in with my family for a meal and it was very good. Good variety on the menu and well priced. Hadn't been since before covid as it had been closed for quite a while but good to see it reopened and a good spacious outdoors.

We were looking for a pub, with a garden, dog friendly, and a light bite to eat, ie a bowl of chip or a sandwich, we found out that they don't normally do this on a Sunday, but they were very accommodating and made three different types of sandwiches, from the Monday to Saturday menu. The garden was nice with plenty of space, the service was good, and the food tasty, nice hand cut chip, all went down with a pint of Wherry We will return again...thank you

We liked the interior and the staff were friendly, the food however was very disappointing. We ordered medium ribeye steaks on steak night and got well done sirloins. The other meals were poorly cooked and cold, fish and chips was slimy and pork souvlaki was not as described. The staff were very apologetic and offered to re-cook the food however after waiting considerably for the meals we didn’t want to wait anymore. We were offered a 10% discount.

Beer choice not great. Decor smacks of coastal chip shop / low end chain. All historic details of the pub gone. Particular to the visit - specials on the board not available on the day, ordered but something else served, No tab with food despite quiet day and well known custom, No service in the garden.

Went for a roast and it was awful. The veg was very over boiled and the meat was so fatty it’s was disgusting. Not sure who their chef is. Very disappointing as had lovely previous meals before.

Just been taken over again recently been twice in the last week. New landlady and staff very welcoming , food fantastic will be going at every oppitunity. Brilliant pub

It could be better. Food in Okay and and range of beers are not to bad. But every time I visit. I leave feeling unimpressed.

Food was good but the different menus was a bit confusing and presentation could be improved, dining area lacks atmosphere

Probably the worst roast dinner I have ever had. The beef was dry and tasted of nothing. "Roast " potatoes were more like hard boiled. And waited 15 minutes for an order of only 3 drinks.

Sunday lunch was diabolical. No spoons to dish up the veg. Not enough cutlery. Waited over 30 mins for food and the pork and the beef was so tough it was hard to cut. Potatoes and parsnips advertised as roasted, crispy and fluffy - they were possibly introduced to the oven but that was it. Veg was hard. One of our party walked out which ruined the mood. The staff were understanding and did discount our bill but still it was a shame and spoilt our lunch out.

Stumbled across this pub for a meal, we both had the pie and the food was gorgeous! Service was excellent and friendly 😁. Really pleased we stumbled across the pub, definitely put on the list for our next holiday in Norfolk 😉😍😋

We had, yet another super Sunday lunch @ The Kings Head. We ate in the garden 2day as the weather was beautiful. As always, very attentive staff (remembering our personal choices from previous visits etc). Super venue. Lindy and Simon Bishop from Dereham.

I took my partner for birthday lunch the food was uneatable couldn't cut the beef or chew it the veg was not cooked ,only payed half the bill should not have payed at all payed for the drinks.The chef,s should be sacked .

Visited today as a last minute thing for dinner. Had the steak and ale pie which came with fresh vegetables. Have to say it was full of meat and very tasty. My husband had the kings burger (he s fussy so asked for no side salad ) which wasn’t a problem. He said the burger had a great flavour even if there were too many caramelised onions for his liking.Dessert menu well where to start had trouble choosing what to have,went for the marrow cake with caramel sauce and ice cream which the waitress suggested. Was not disappointed !! Delicious . Good food great service ...

Very friendly staff and lovely food.

Just a little sad really. The opening day at the Kings Head in April this year, I really couldn't fault. The signature burger was spot on. With the option of bacon, a choice of cheeses, egg, + a generous portion of 'your choice of fries', with room for a bit of salad & coleslaw on the side. Amazing! Yesterday, we went back. The burger, although well cooked, was pretty dry due to being sandwiched between a toasted bun with no sauce/relish. No salad or slaw on the side anymore. Just a lettuce leaf, some tasteless American cheese & a thin slice of tomato & pickle in the burger to liven up the handful of skinny fries that came with it. It was just a little sad really. & now they've increased the price to 14 quid; I expected more. Certainly more than the thimble-full of mayonnaise that was rationed between us upon request for condiments. The beer was alright if you like a humdrum Wherry or Ghost ship. As that's all that was available on draught. Perfect accompaniment to the deathly silent atmosphere. (Even on a Friday night) I would have loved to give some feedback on the day, but we were never asked how everything was. I can't say I'll be rushing back.

Lovely gardens, first time going there but will definitely go again. We had a beetroot hummus with flat bread, very tasty biscuits with carrot and celery sticks! The young lady that served us was so polite and helpful. We haven't been inside the pub so perhaps the extra star next time! 😊

Just had the worst pub meal in my life. Wife had the Veg Lsagne, absolutely awful. I had the ham egg and chips, chips not cooked properly, ham was absolutely terrible, described as Norfolk bread, they should try Suffolk bred, might have more luck. Eggs were fine!

Not good. Worst meal in a pub ever. Poor menu only matched by the food. Staff were friendly.

First time dining here. Two of us had ham, egg and chips, hot and cooked lovely, ham was the best I’ve tasted. My daughter had scampi which was plentiful and presented nicely. Servers were attentive and seating areas were well spaced apart. The only slight criticism would be that food was slightly overpriced.
