The White Hart in South Norfolk

It's our go-to each month. Staff are amazing. Food never disappoints. The atmosphere is great. Cannot give stars for rooms as we live close by, we have no need to stay.

Excellent country pub, good service

My whole experience of staying at The White Hart was excellent. I contacted the team prior to my stay to discuss check in options, Katie was very helpful and kind. I checked in approx 11pm and the team and environment was welcoming. I stayed in room 2, which was beautifully decorated, and filled with all the basic necessities. My particular favourite was the cotton pads and cotton buds in the bathroom - very clever idea! Breakfast was delicious, a great selection available, and dietary requirements catered for. I am Coeliac and was well looked after. 10/10, would 100% return. Thank you!

Came here for an evening meal on a busy Saturday night, staff were composed and coped with the business and my steak was cooked to perfection.

Went with my sons for a meal in the hotels restaurant and had a really great meal. The atmosphere of the place was good with a mixture of locals and outsiders that had travelled to eat here. The menu changes monthly but always excellent. The food is presented very attractively and is a feast for the eye even before the feast for the palate. Service is good attentive but without being intrusive and nothing too much trouble. Price was very reasonable, we each had a drink, starter, main and dessert for a total of less than £33 each for an excellent repast. A definite return venue, we intend to do this monthly as enjoyed it so much.

We had a lovely Friday night dinner in the restaurant. Seated upstairs - we had excellent service and enjoyed the food.

The best hotel we’ve stayed at! We’ve come here twice now and always blown away by the attentiveness of the staff and the brilliant food. Sam was particularly attentive and made our stay very fun. The cream tea is a lovely touch too! Can’t wait to come back soon

Visited here for my work leaving do last week with a group of work colleagues . Although most of the party were late, staff were really welcoming and accommodating towards our table. Absolutely loved the inventive vegan options, a hats off to the chef for creating interesting and inspiring vegan options throughout the menu and not just the boring 'falafel and risotto' options some places stick to. I was spoilt for choice and was very happy with the dish I chose, it was delicious. One of the members of our dinner table was particularly loud and I felt sorry for the staff and other diners putting up with the constant loudness of her but staff didn't react or tell her to keep the noise down which was really patient of them as I don't think I would have had the Patience to tolerate someone so loud in a nice venue but the staff were faultless. Look forward to returning and keep up the wonderful work everyone .

Stayed here for the second time. Really comfortable rooms, friendly service, good food and good parking.

Lovely market town pub with friendly staff

4 of us dined here on the evening of the 24th January, 2024. The food was excellent, served hot and quickly, and the staff were exceptional. They are pleasant, polite and professional, and made our visit most enjoyable. I can highly recommend this restaurant,.

The White Hart is a gem. The staff are welcoming and cheerful. Their level of service is excellent. The pub is warm and comfortable. They have a good selection of drinks. The food is very good and tasty. There is a good selection of gluten-free options. The burgers are excellent and the ribs were divine. The White Hart is very dog friendly.

One of our most enjoyable little villages in this part of Norfolk and a lovely place for a social drink and meal. Great attentive service and food is decent enough.

Great Sunday roast, lovely staff.

We booked a table for dinner and were a little early, but the table was ready, so we were able to sit down straight away. We were in a side room upstairs, which was lovely and had so much character. Our waitress was great and really friendly. The dinner was a bit of a mixed bag. Brussels were extremely hard, and the roast potatoes were even harder. I didn't eat mine as they were impossible to cut. That was it. The dinner was served, and we were left alone for the rest of the afternoon/evening. No one came to clear the table or see if we wanted dessert or coffee. I actually think that they forgot about us!! After finishing our dinner we waited for around 45 minutes and then I went downstairs to remind them we were still there by asking if someone would be able to come and take a picture for us, a waitress said that she would be there in a minute but we gave up after 20 minutes, paid the bill and went home. I am very disappointed. This was a special meal for my dad's 80th birthday, and special it was not!!

Friendly staff, good pub food. Canned music a little loud, difficult to converse in restaurant. Worth a visit.

We’ve just been for our family Christmas meal (only a small 21 of us) and the whole thing from booking it months ago to dessert was fantastic. The team were great with keeping in contact about menu orders, had a little snag of not enough settings as the kids menu choices weren’t clear on the form BUT was quickly and easily sorted. Food was incredible! Very reasonably priced and we were all very happy. Staff were polite and lovely and they did incredibly well to grant my mum’s wishes of having a private room as this was her first Christmas not cooking ‘the’ family Christmas meal. We will be returning at some point (not all of us at once 😅)

The Christmas Pot pie was tasty as was the Traditional Christmas turkey meal. The desserts of Tiramasu and Cristmas Pudding. Great service, great Staff, lovely venue.

Food was really good Eggs Benedict couldn't have faulted. I have sent 2 back in a row in larger chains as the ham was so cold it chilled my whole Meal twice. The White Hart was really nice and has been my local a lot of my life. I rarely frequent pubs much now. Mainly for food if i do. I only gave 3 stars for service as the lovey lady serving was just a bit slow considering the very few people but very nice none the less. I've found my new favourite Eggs Benedict place to eat.

First visit here and it's a lovely old building, however the food is on the expensive side. I had fish and chips which was definitely value for money but the rump steak, and pasta dish order by our table didn't. Staff friendly and chatty, plenty of parking opposite and at the front of the building

My husband and I have had an amazing meal at The White Hart in Hingham tonight. The food we had was tastier and different to anything I’ve had out in a long time. The flavours were amazing and my mouth is still zinging Definitely recommend.

Visited this pub/restaurant pre-covid and food was lovely. Tonight we visited again and not so great. Charged over £6 for a prawn cocktail starter and it was like we were sharing a portion between us! Tiny portions, fit for a child maybe! Told the waitress to feed this back to the chef. Main course was fish and chips, fish was ok but batter was very overdone and dry and so were the chips. Partner had pork chop which he said was ok. Overall very underwhelmed. Wouldn’t visit again for food.

Stayed bank holidays weekend for a wedding near by. Lovely hotel and a beautiful room. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had! As was the complimentary cream tea. Everyone who worked here was really friendly and helpful. We will be back.

The White Hart in Hingham is a lovely country pub. They would be absolutely packed if they could get the food right, something we have been saying for the last 11 years we have been living close by. We don’t go in as often as we mean to but decided to Friday evening, lovely, enjoyed a drink or two, great service from the young ladies and gentleman serving us. Ordered some food (took a chance) I ordered chill with rice for my main meal. Tiny, it was put on a big plate and spread over. I had as much sour cream as I had chilli , a small pile of rice and four small nachos . I’m recovering from surgery and haven’t much of a appetite but it left me still wanting more. If they put the chilli in it bowl, which it should have been served in, it would have looked like a stater. I will say it was delicious, but feel cheated. I did say to waitress when you get the usual, how was your meal, that it was a tiny portion but very nice, and she just said excellent! My husband had fish and chips, it was just ok. Such a shame.

Saved by Sam! 10yrs we have supported local, tonight was a disappointment, £14 for a meal that was served up on half a plate and no side salad. Thank you Sam for adding to my meal. Taste wise delicious 😋 We understand the cost of living rises but it could have been better. Sorry for being honest as we love our village pub and will always support it!

We enjoyed our dinner - Super impressive attention to dietary intolerances - both the wait person (Holly) and the kitchen staff made every effort to ensure I could get a meal that worked for me - with astonishing thought and patience. The quality of the food when it came was lovely - certainly a busy place - advise booking - also accommodate dogs if pre booked - our dog Dottie loved her dinner too. Highly recommend this as a great place to have food relax and unwind. Great accessibility too - loos on ground floor and easy to get around 😁 Thank you and well done to Holly for great service and attention to detail.

This was a great dining experience with both top quality food and great service. All of our meals where a hit and the hunter’s chicken I had was tasty and well presented. The staff were lovely, making sure we were enjoying our evening throughout. The Scottish waiter in particular was very personable and really helpful when it came to any questions regarding the food or drink. A huge bonus was that they catered excellently to the vegan in our group, which we sometimes struggle with, however this was not an issue as they had multiple vegan options which were well thought out. We had a top experience here and I’m sure we will be back in the future!

Reviewing the food separately from the room, both nights we ate here were excellent. Good quality produce at a decent price, with proper portions and the pub vibes kept intact. This is a great pub serving what it should without any pretension.

So impressed with the vegan option - cauliflower steak with saag aloo. Really tasty and rare to find a vegetable vegan dish done so very well in a non- vegan establishment. Stay away from the burger menu its awful we had lovely starters scotch egg and brie. Ordered the chicken and beef burger chicken was burnt but still had no flavour nothing from the washai mayo or slaw just made the bap soft and wet so fell apart should have been a chibatta roll. All we could taste was red onion and the mountain of rustic chips however nice were so overwhelming impossible to make your way through. Ordering drinks was very slow and by the second round we just wanted to walk out. It was busy but that should not spoil our evening with bad service. Won't go again as it was treat for us and a waste of money.

Have been to the White Hart on multiple occasions since moving to the area and it has always been a great experience! Service is always great, food is always delicious and the gin selection is also on point! Have not been for a while due to Covid etc but will be back again and again in future.

We came in this Sunday for breakfast as passing by and such a plus it's dog friendly. This cozy hotel/pub has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious breakfast, great presentation. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations of the local area and the rest of norfolk. The 2 ladies who served us were so polite and couldn't do enough for us even when the place was so busy.I recommend to everyone! I would like to come back here again and again.

My partner and I went to The White Hart after seeing friends reviews of their meals there, the pictures looked lovely. Unfortunately I think the night we were there the chef had an off day. Our starter of Arancini was lovely and the wine was going down very well. We both ordered burgers, his the mighty one and mine plain. When they arrived they looked disappointing, his looked like it came from a roadside cafe with insipid sausages and egg on a burger that was dry as heck and mine was on a roll with one slice of tomato and some mayonnaise, again the driest burger ever. If I had to say I think it was cooked a couple of days previous and then reheated, it was void of flavour and dry as the Sahara. It was also exceptionally small given its £15 price tag. The side salad had a lovely dressing but unfortunately had not been washed and was as gritty as anything and to me inedible. I did tell the waitress at the end of the meal and she did take the price of my burger off the bill. Being English we did not add that his was just as bad as we felt bad enough complaining about one meal. The pub is lovely, the service impeccable but the food that night was very disappointing and ruined our date night, which don’t come round very often! I hope that it was a one off but doubt we will return for quite some time.

Great stay! A group of us stayed at the White Hart for a weekend and we have nothing but compliments for them. The rooms were all lovely, clean and cosy,. The food was really good (we all had the fish and chips), the breakfast was perfect - we ordered off the menu and could order whatever we wanted with no limits. The staff were all lovely and very patient with our indecisive orders!Thank you for a fab stay!

We’ve visited the White Hart last year whilst visiting the area and were so impressed with the menu and the quality of the food we were really looking forward to returning. However we were quite disappointed. The menu has been drastically changed and reduced. There was a burger section which I wouldn’t entertain and a very limited main course section. I really struggled to choose something! When our food arrived it was very nice. I had the special which was pork loin and it really was superb. My husband had pork chop with cous cous which was ok but nothing special. I also thought it was expensive for what it was, pub grub!I absolutely love a nice dessert but there was nothing on the menu that could even come near to tempting me, especially at over £7 a dessert!The other thing I didn’t like was the sign on the door saying everyone had to wear a face mask and if they were exempt then evidence would be asked for. It isn’t law to wear a face covering and I’m actually exempt but don’t carry evidence with me. If I’d known what the menu was like before going in then I wouldn’t of bothered going in. The staff were lovely, couldn’t fault them but I’m afraid we won’t be returning.

The White Hart has been one of our favourite restaurants, but we were sorely disappointed on our recent visit. Where was the fresh seasonal produce and fresh fish and innovative dishes? There were four or five main courses, certainly couldn’t be described as restaurant quality, much more pub grub. Then there was a burger selection, which you can get anywhere. We also heard people on another table saying exactly the same as us, in fact we found it difficult to choose because of the poor selection. The staff, however, are lovely and give very good service, but we won’t be rushing back or recommending the restaurant as we have done previously.

Really nice and relaxing, clean and obviously looked after with a great fire. Barman Matthew is a delight and greeted me with his typical cheesy grin and cuddle and was swift with my food.

Service was very good, food was good quality and pub is nice inside, with a beer garden at the back, including a play area for children.Would recommend this pub, not the cheapest available but you get what you pay for and we left very happy with our visit. Had previously visited the Thatchers Needle, which was cheaper but then the quality of food was poor and we left saying we would never return there again. The White Heart certainly made up for that disappointment.

This is a wonderful pub unlike it's competitor down the road in wicklewood. It is very clean, has good food and beer and is also friendly.

We had a lovely boutique room, light and airy.I arrived on a Sunday, asked what was tyhe soup of the day "Curried Carrot", in fact it was the soup of the week as it was on offer S, M, T, and Weds.Breakfast, I ordered a vegan breakfast, I could not cut the little piece of avocado, and the button mushrooms were shrivelled and tough, as they have been cooked days ago. We went to co-op to buy food. Will not be eating at this hotel.

We enjoyed coming back for a meal after such a long lockdown again.I was so pleased to see the vegan Katsu on the menu as it was dairy free and gluten free. As someone with a lot of food intolerances this was a very welcome sight and it was so tasty I could have eaten at least 3 plates of it!My boyfriend had the sea bass and said it was a really interesting mix of flavours.
