Brilliant pub, brilliant atmosphere! Locals were all very friendly & welcoming & the landlords, Ashley & Samantha are the friendliest & loveliest people I've met as pub runners. Top place x

Nine of us went in there on Saturday 22nd June for lunch and we weren't disappointed would highly recommend going in there Donna and her staff were very friendly and very helpful. I hadn't been in there for 30yrs but as we were up that way we had to try it. It's, changed a lot but for the best. Thankyou Donna for the photo shoot 😁😁 ☺️

I went to the woodmans cottage on Saturday to have a lovely stake snd the waiter was lovely and so kind snd helpful I must say that it is one of the best stakes I've had in a long time.

Lovely freshly cooked wholesome British food, with some interesting twists on the specials board, more than just pub grub. I had steak, tomato and almond pie, mashed potato, carrots, cabbage and green beans followed by damson Panna cotte

And yes we socially distanced, but chatted to loads of people we haven’t seen for a some time. We sat outside, drank sensibly and the staff as usual were great. Everything well thought out for safety of staff and customers. Thank you Steve and staff.

Heading to a 1970s weekend - stopped here by chance. Food was good and reasonably priced with big portions. Would stop here again if our route took us past.

Seven of us enjoyed a Ladies' Lunch here. The menu is wide ranging, with traditional pub lunch favourites plus interesting and unusual items, and all food seems to be freshly home-cooked. The service was professional and friendly, the prices were reasonable, plenty of parking.... what's not to like ?

Called in today with no booking for a Sunday roast and it really was delicious . My husband and I had the pork belly and my daughter the beef . The pork was flavoursome and tender and the accompanying roasted veg, cauli cheese and red cabbage were so good. Portions were generous and I couldn’t finish my meal, despite having just run a half marathon . Daughter happily polished off my Yorkshire . A great Sunday roast destination .

This is a proper 'pub' used by real people who live or work nearby. It's not pretentious in any way, just clean, tidy, warm and friendly. And the pub does not currently offer or provide food other than bar nibbles - perfect!

I have to let it be known that this little gem of a pub is not only one of the prettiest interiors of any (of many!) pubs that we go to - it's beautifully decorated, it is also one of the cleanest, with staff being super quick to clean tables and seating areas as people come and go, which is no mean feat given that they are very welcoming of canine companions and that they are pub surrounded by many beautiful walkways. I've never seen it look for one moment anything short of spotless. I've been taking my weim pup to this pub since last Summer and they've seen her go through the stages of too cute to 'complete and utter 'two and a half handful' where I've had to put all my efforts in to managing her (she is 100% typical of her breed!), they might they have been so patient, calm and lovely to her and us. Excellent place for meat ! We had the Chateaubriand and it was cooked perfectly, nice side dishes and a decent wine list. The service was so friendly and atmosphere like a French brasserie. The view out the window is of Kings College which isn’t too bad !

Food overpriced for what you get

Lovely place; very good garden for children to play in; outdoor seating - some people braving this in December; quite a few people eating, but staff in control and our food arrived in good time - nice and hot - well done. Been before, but will be returning.
