Nice food and service, but disappointing as they had run out of the veggie roast.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. The new Italian menu is amazing in the restaurant and well worth a visit. Fantastic dishes! The staff are always welcoming and make an effort. We love it!

Late lazy lunch on the weekend with the family. This place was perfect. Plenty of room, brilliant playground, decent food and friendly service. Everyone was happy.

Attended for private party, nice sized area of pub sectioned off. Nice pub, good quality buffet, poor choice of non/low alcohol beers and no lemon to garnish the Gin are minor complaints.

Children's Burger undercooked. Complained to waitress. No action taken. Spoke to manager on way out. Cavalier attitude,not interested,said he would speak to Chef. 2 waitresses obviously making fun of complaint. Will not be going back. It is not acceptable to serve minced beef rare, nor is it acceptable fo a manager to deliver an apology with a smirk on his face.

Lovely pub and restaurant. Nice atmosphere with friendly staff and if you have kids then the garden area is the best I have seen. The food was really good quality and there was a good selection to pick from. We will definitely be returning!

Thank you Peter and team! We held a 30 person Sunday lunch in the private room, hosted by Peter. The food was great and very well organised. Highly recommended for a big family get together! Peter organised a set menu in advance for us too which made the whole event run smoothly. He also took photos for us, including one for the ages of the whole group out the front of the pub. Nice spacious pub . Good for kids. Korean chicken was very nice but dissapointed that there was no pak choi as stated in the menu with a cabbage substitute. Overall very nice and will be going again.

Food very poor ,gammon was 2 slices of bacon minus the pineapple and 8 chips ,piri piri chicken didn't have the chutney as stated and chicken tough and anorexic, drinks extortionate will not return .

Was there at the bar ordered 2 pints of shandy and for the kids, orange juice and slushy. The plastic cups for the kids were about 250ml and we were charged 20 quid. Extortionate.

Went to the white horse for a meal with friends ,food was amazing ,great atmosphere,there was live singer who was great.One of the staff members Brian came over to the table to check we were having a good evening ,made us feel so welcome.highly recommend this venue

Huge pub/eatery in heart of the village. Huge beer garden.

Was looking for a nice pub that served some snacks. They have plenty of parking and there's a restaurant attached. Nice selection of beer and ale. The food was delicious too. We just ordered some starters and sides as snacks. The staff are friendly and the pub is kid friendly. Also, the pub has a hall, so you can inquire about hosting a small event there.

Nice place but food really lets it down. Chicken salad served completely plain with no dressing. The sticky BBQ wok noodles and shawarma had chillis in the sauce - sharwarma as a dish shouldn't have chillis in it. The main issue being that it's also not stated on the menu that these dishes have chilli added in or that they were hot/spicy dishes. It also took over 30 minutes for 4 desserts to come out and the pub wasn't even busy? Disappointing.

Arranged to meet our friends here for lunch on Sunday. We arrived and ordered some drinks before we decided on food. Spent £33 on a pint and a jug of Pimms. Then we were told that there was an hour wait before we could order any food. Shame because the place was beautiful, maybe a better system would help for busy times. In the end, we phoned up another pub and had food elsewhere.

We went there with a group of friends to have a catch up over a meal. This wasn't easy with the music in the restaurant coming from the ceiling like a club. We managed to get it turned down, but then it would get put up again rendering conversion with anyone other than the person next to you impossible. Booked for 6pm on a Saturday so nice and early (we had kids with us). Restaurant was mostly empty but took 1:30h to receive the starter. £30 per head (one didn't have a main, just one alcoholic drink).

Once every couple of months, five ladies, in their 50-60s, meet for lunch. We never seem to stay in the same area, due to me living in Gidea Park, friends living Leigh-on-Sea, and another friend living in Suffolk. So, a friend booked The White Horse and off we all went. We were sat in The Urban Fresh area - a lovely, roomy restaurant, with a nice feel. We were greeted by Matt (The Assistant Manager), who was an absolute delight. Such a bubbly, young gent, lots of character, funny, charming, and with a great sense of humour, whilst continuing to be very professional. Matt explained the menu and we were set to go! Four of the girls opted for the roast (one a vegan roast), whilst I went for the Chicken Shawarma - I'm not a Sunday roast kind of girl! When the meals started to arrive, the size of them! The Yorkshire Puddings were fabulous and the pork crackling was a true winner. Potatoes were rather large and the sides of cauliflower cheese/pigs in blankets and stuffing were really tasty. My friend, who is the vegetarian, never normally has much choice, but she was over-whelmed by how Matt went over and beyond helping her and offering her different choices. We shared a couple of puddings; caramel churros (yum) and basque cheesecake, and together with some soft drinks, a Pinot Blush and a couple of coffees, it came to around £32 each! We will definitely be returning. We really did enjoy our visit to The White Horse. I apologise for not remembering our servers name, but Matt was an absolute delight and made our Sunday afternoon visit an absolute joy. Nice gentleman.

Just visited in party of four. We spent a great afternoon in a really comfortable environment. First class service from Matt ( with a customised starter!!} and colleagues, delicious food cooked by Alex and reasonable prices. We will definitely return

Booked this restaurant last minute for a family Sunday lunch. There were 8 of us including 3 children. Our waitress Molly was so warm and friendly and we felt very relaxed and comfortable. The adults had the Sunday roast and we all commented on how tasty and delicious it was. The children were well catered for also and they even bought out a birthday ice cream and candle for my little granddaughter. We all really enjoyed the day and will certainly return in the summer as the outside area looked great. Thank you all very much!

Lovely little pub. Only popped in for a few drinks with friends. Barman very chatty and friendly. Would definitely visit again.

Went to the Bar for food at 730 .. food was good but no one came to see how it was and then to our shock at 9 pm we were told to finish our drinks as they were closing !! Website said 11pm - he was unapologetic - we were so disappointed

Stopped here for Saturday lunch in the bar. First time here in 2 years. We arrived at 1pm and it was dead by the time we left at 2:30pm almost full. New menu incorporates the urban kitchen now which does pan Asian/American food was really nice. Had the kfc (Korean fried chicken) which was amazing. Bill was ok and will return and try out the full restaurant soon.

First time. Came with our toddler & newborn, lovely family pub/restaurant. Had the best server Molly who was so friendly, professional and catered to all we needed. Playground in the garden which was perfect to keep my son entertained while we had the most delicious meal. Fajitas were 👌🏻 really recommend for families and would definately come again! Thank you!

Lovely food and lovely staff. I had chicken fajitas .friends had the korean chicken and another the steak. We all enjoyed our food.wine menu also very good. Comfortable chairs and lovely atmosphere. Recommended.

We had a delicious meal this evening I had the KFC ( Korean chicken) husband had ribs. Generous portions plus excellent service. Fairly quiet in pub but nice atmosphere.

Just popped in for lunch as passing. Wow !!! Absolutely lovely! The steak was perfectly cooked, mushroom so tasty and blue cheese sauce you could drink!

It was better when it was your local pub with trampolines for the kids and family play area setting. Since their revamp, I feel it's gone for the more up market look and it's lost it's cosy feel. The food is ok, not my first choice for a family meal out though.

Had a great meal here.It was a Sunday and along with the traditional roasts they do an alternative menu of steaks,burgers,salads act.The 3 roasts and Korean fried chicken(my choice) was spot on,as were the starters and puddings.My granddaughter was kept occupied by the free crayons and colouring paper,she ate all her food which was very good and even got a rocket ice lolly,great stuff. The service was with a smile,small issue of no salt was quickly sorted. Overall, a pleasant time was had with nice food.The prices didn't pull ya pants down either. 10/10 from the 4 of us.

We visited The White Horse for my mums special birthday with all the family on 21/10/23. The staff were so friendly, so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. We regularly visit this pub for the nice atmosphere, outside space for the children and the friendliness of the staff aswell as the amazing food. Thank you to everyone who made our day so special :)

Very smart looking gastro-type pub out in Essex. Sat outside in the large garden area with the dogs for a drink, so didn't eat at the pub, but the menu looked great. Nice atmosphere and very family- friendly.

Lovely big garden with a nice playground for kids. There was live saxophone music and the food was delicious. They also have an indoor restaurant area that's quieter. A hidden gem and must visit for families.

Took granddaughter here recently to kill a hour over lunch. For a 1st time visit. We were welcomed as we stepped in. The place was clean inside and ordered some drinks and went out to garden. Large children area with reasonable play items. Probably suitable for 4 years and up. Ordered some garlic bread and nuggets and chips and were hit and tasty. It was very quiet due to the time of day 12 to 1. Lots of little machines for kids so would return if in the area

We just had lunch with our two toddlers and although the play area is great, the food was not great and even the beer and wine were poor. It was really overpriced and we were very disappointed as we came a few years ago and it was great.

They did an amazing celebration for us after my mums funeral. The buffet was spot on along with service and help from all the staff. Thank you

Based on going here several times ...changed a lot...gone Urban style...we liked the bit of up market style...Roast was amazing though as was the starters...lots on the menu was Not available..condiments inside was brought out in paper pots...and Dessert menu on a plastic see through stand up menu stand ok for the outside ...Staff very helpful and attentive ...value highly rated..... what topped it off was a woman changing her Baby's bottom all beit a baby in the main Restaurant area in full view while we were all eating .....where there are changing facilities in the Toilets ...

We always fly buy for lunch when my girls come horse riding during weekend near my sister’s in Ramsden heath!!! Always last minute so never needed to book as it’s a village!! Only place guaranteed a table without booking with us travelling for all kid’s competition for swimming, gymnastics and football last minute!! Staff are asset to restaurants x

We visited the restaurant today for the first time following online recommendations. We were looking for somewhere we could eat outside in the sun, something for the children to do and also a varied menu. I would say it delivered on all of these. Three of our party chose the roast dinner and I have to say it was probably one of the best, if not the best roast dinner I have ever eaten at a restaurant. It was piping hot and absolutely huge. The children were pleased with their meals and the desserts were also delicious (although there was actually more choice available than listed on the menu). Sadly it wasn’t quite warm enough for us to sit outside but there was ample space when we arrived at midday had we wanted to sit outside. We will definitely be back again.

South American menu, great to have something different. The food was fantastic as was the service. Dog friendly in the bar aea, water bowl and treats brought immediately.

This pub/restaurant is staggeringly overpriced for its food and drink. It is trying (and failing miserably) to be something it is not. Starobraten beer at £6.60 a pint and 1 x pint of Masri and 1 x pint guiness cost £12.60 combined is a rip off. Ribeye steak at £32 grossly overpriced. Just returned from Viamoura, Portugal ate at an excellent steakhouse at the marina Ribeye steak and the trimmings £23 or euro equivalent. The White Horse is nothing special just a rip off. Once visited, once ripped off, never returned. Would never recommend it to anyone. Visited it on Sat 29th for nephews birthday. Even he said it was a rip off.

Advertises kids burger, chips & salad for a shocking £8.95 But the salad is missing & your only told when it arrives on the table, that the salad is an extra £2.50!!! So are the peas with the fish & chip option! False advertising & daylight robbery! It makes sense to leave salad as an option because it often doesn’t get eaten but don’t include it in the list of food included in the dish for the 8.95. Does the pizza actually come with the side salad as listed???

We went for lunch this afternoon and it was so lovely! The food was delicious and the staff were so nice. Everything was clean and tidy, even the kids play area. I will definitely be coming back soon!

absolutely brilliant food was top class, service was brilliant.

Sadly we didn't have a great time. We booked outside for father's Day lunch. It took a very long time to even get service. Once we did manage to get some attention, our order was taken but sadly everyone got their meals at different times. And three people from our party of 12 didn't get their food. Had to go back and find out where our meals were. Finally the three people had got their meals but everyone else had finished. I was very upset and stressed as I had booked for all my family. The kitchen was very overwhelmed, food was put on hold for a hour. The pub had advertised for this Avent, but were poorly equipt to cope with it. Sadly I will not go back to this pub and restaurant

It was a very quiet day, food very tasty mind was a little on the cool side but just as nice and edible.

This is a really nice, clean and well decorated pub. The food is lovely and the service is excellent. We will be back for the Posh Fish finger Sandwich, it was delicious.

The play area is nice and big with something for all ages, however the food is not as advertised, no lunch or "garden menu" only larger more formal meals available. This was disappointing, as we had intended to have a light informal lunch due to having kids with us. Unfortunately due to this we only had drinks.

I cannot believe we have only just discovered this place!! Wow.. from the most warmest welcome by fiona followed by UNREAL food - the evening couldn’t have been more perfect! We look forward to more evenings in this ‘local feel’ but 10/10 food venue! Thanks again see you soon x

Went as family celebration to URBAN FRESH Private area for 12 people was cold and requested radiators to be turned on which were duly done. Very disappointing that no wine menu was available and were asked to state what wines we liked and these were produced- we tried a fantastic napa valley wine which was amazing only to find when the bill came - it was more than we expected! The food was very good and well presented and they catered for gluten free. The waitress service was good which made up fir the lack of wine menu and awkward start! It wasn’t very busy and rather slow service which we didn’t mind as we were a family. I would recommend worth a visit but check wine list before going.

Lovely pub and a really good outside play area for the kids!

There was only one vegan main and one starter and I consider offering sorbet as the vegan option pudding a token jesture. The ordering options were strange as you had to either order two or three courses and the two course option had to be a main and pudding so discriminatory for diabetes sufferers. Ì was allowed at the discretion of the management to have a coffee in the place of the scoops of flavoured ice but that meant the coffee was more expensive than it ort to have been. I feel you should be given the option to order individual courses as people do not all have the same appetite or perhaps people may wish to share a starter or order two in the place of a main. This rigid arrangement seemed rather unnecessary. Also six of our party of eight were overcharged by mistake. I'm sure this was a genuine mistake but I would encourage anyone to check their bill. Overall all eight of us were pleased with the quality of the meals, portion size, and value for money. The staff were welcoming, very friendly , helpful and attentive.

A Mother's day evening at "The White Horse" Ramsden Heath. Everything started well with very friendly polite staff with clean and smartly decorated surroundings. This first thing that was noted when the Mother's day menu states that options are MAIN AND DESERT = £29.95 or STARTER MAIN DESERT £36.95. So technically a starter and main was not an option, although they were willing to bend the rules for two people in the party. The food was very well presented and tasted great, cutlery was nice and smear free, toilets were maintained well (at least the mens), and parking was plentiful. The last hurdle was the bill which was super confusing with being charged for six 3 course meals when everyone had a two course meal, this ment being charged around £42. Over the top, the bill was also confused with another tables deposit which caused further faff. The idea of having an evening out is partly the simplicity it allows a group. I hope this is not a reflection of how business is run on a regular basis,

We have visited Urban Fresh quiite a few times, the food, atmosphere and staff are great, I can definately recommend, we also went to the Elvis show last week which was excellent

Food on paper looks great on paper but does not deliver. Food was burnt and overly salty.

Landlord is rude and I've seen and heard him swear at customer's, Bad atmosphere and a bad attitude. 👎

In the area and went for an impromptu lunch, hadn't been here for years OMG what have I been missing. Enthusiasm and knowledge of a menu even the lunch one is always a good sign, we were not let down. Prompt service and not overly. Both went for ciabatta, spicy beef and chicken with avocado. Delicious and generous good potion of triple fried chips. Fantastic flavours. Reasonable price. Place is clearly looked after with contemporary decoration. Have added this to our next date night list. Brilliant. Thanks.

One of my old workmates booked the restaurant for an evening meal for four of us we were the only ones on a Tuesday evening in the restaurant the service was fine as we were the only people there, two of us had the wagyu burger which I must say was very good as I am not usually a burger person and the women had seafood tagliatelle Plus a couple of beers and wines The bill was £30 per head with a tip which I didn’t think was too bad.

This is a place not to be missed. The landlady was great. Very friendly and a lot of laughs. She allowed us to park our motorhome overnight in the carpark as we could then eat and have a few drinks. Which we did. The food was excellent and great value for money. We really enjoyed our night there and can’t recommend it highly enough.

A family party of 22 people on Saturday 8th October at 5pm. Only 2 members of staff working behind the bar, serving meals and drinks both fairly young. The manager wasn’t to be seen all evening we had to complain numerous times as no one had collected the glasses the entire evening, and the dinner plates were on our table at least half an hour after finishing, and we had to ask for them to be cleared away. The food was reasonable, but 2 of the meals didn’t arrive as apparently the chef forgot to cook them. Then to dessert we had to chase the staff to order then we wasn’t offered any thing with the dish i.e. sticky toffee pudding came on its own? Basically what was suppose to be a celebration for our mum and Nan turned out to be a disaster.

My wife and I visited last Sunday and decided to try the Sunday roast.It cost a little more than we would normally pay but, in all fairness,when the roast beef arrived, the portions were extremely generous! The beef was lovely and there was a good selection of vegetables too. I would have scored 5 out of 5 if the veg were served hot but sadly they were just warm, hence my score of 4 out of 5. Nevertheless, The food and service would certainly warrant a visit !

We visited this pub today as a family of 10. The service was outstanding with all the meals and drinks being served at the same time by friendly staff. The food was also outstanding. Not one bad meal. Their roast beef was absolutely the best I have ever had at a restaurant or pub. It was melt in the mouth tender. Thank you White Horse we will come again.

Really good food with a wide choice for every appetite. Plenty of outdoor tables with sun umbrellas and an impressive children’s play area. Great family pub with courteous and friendly staff. Can thoroughly recommend.

Has to be said food not that great I'm afraid. Great play area for kids. And generally good ambiance. However good not great. Had fish and chips. Not sure if fish was fresh but tartare sauce was Def not home made which to me should be minimum for gastropub

The children's play area is lovely. The food unfortunately left us a little disappointed. Online this comes across as a gastro pub, the food on the other hand was closer to pub grub. It was nice, sure, but certainly not impressive. We had the fish and chips and buttermilk chicken burger and out little'un had a burger and chips. The burger on the kids menu was large but entirely plain. The chips were all slightly undercooked. The buttermilk chicken burger was okay but the chicken was small and flavourless. The fish and chips were a good size but once again... undercooked chips. I probably won't return but if you're passing and hungry, it's okay.

The outside area is fantastic for children! We ate inside as we had a table booked. The menu isn't massive but covers all bases and the food was very good. The service was slightly more random. Overall, its a nice country feel pub with good parking and a great outside area for families.
