Came into the plough and felt immediately welcomed by the staff. The service was 10/10 especially the young lady with red hair. Absolute superstar quality banter

Used to visit the plough at least once a week. My husband & I took some friends with us last Saturday, they had never been there before. After waiting 10 - 15 mins we were finally served. However, we asked for Cruzcampo and was told by the gobby red head to go to the Ship Inn, as the plough doesn't stock it. Not very customer friendly in our opinion. Went in again tonight, 10th April, was waiting ages to be served, other people were waiting, the people serving didn't acknowledge anyone waiting & proceeded to serve the new customers as soon as they walked in. So, on the advice of the gobby redhead last Saturday, we walked out without being served & went to the Ship Inn

Went here before. Couple of times One time people were nearly drunk and fighting very embarassing. Anti social behaviour. And they didnt want anything to do with my ID. Food was too much. To eat.

Very good pub with lovely staff, I come here for lunch when I have uni and it’s a great spot to come to. Food is really nice and cannot speak any higher of the service

Im part of the furniture here, I love it so much! The staff are so lovely, the food is amazing quality and affordable, fab location for pre drinks (by the station) and theres always speedy service. Couldn’t recommend it more

Great place to grab lunch at a affordable price

Great place but there is a problem with the food. The menu shows a Chargrilled burger with no mention on what the burger patty is, then they have a bacon cheese burger which says prime beef patty but both are exactly the same patty both totally dry and you need to order another drink to swallow. Sorry but will not eat in this place again. Edited: Was assured by the management that my concern about the false advertising about the burger will be looked at by upper company management so updating my rating to 5 stars but till the burger changes food level will be 1 star.

Come here the other day and was served by Sophie! She was so lovely and friendly really gave my visit a special twist. The food was very nice , can’t wait to come back.

Over Christmas, a family party of 12 had a late lunch from the Festive Menu at the Plough. The food was excellent, everyone very much enjoyed their food choices. Much better than expectations and the price was more than fair. The bar staff and wait staff were friendly and efficient. It's never easy serving a large party and they did it really well. Especially as a couple of our party arrived extremely late due to delayed flights. We were even given a room away from the main bar area that was perfect for a family gathering. Overall, we were very happy with The Plough.

Just a perfekt lunch with an awesome fish n chips

Large pub next to the train and railway station offering fantastic value breakfasts and inexpensive lunch time offers as well as a regular pub menu. I've had the breakfast a few times - great value with decently cooked Irish breakast. Portions are as listed - the hearty breakfast is tough to finish. I have yet to try the lunch offer but it looks to be amazing value. Staff are pleasant and wait for freshly cooked breakfast was reasonable. For those in the know, better to wait here for your train rather than the expensive cafe in the station.

It is a nice place to go with friends and have something to eat and enjoy a variety of beers.

Visited the plough with family for my first day off before Christmas! Brilliant decision we’ve made. I work in hospitality myself and I couldn’t be happier with the standard of service from Crina who greeted us pleasantly on arrival and made us feel welcome and at home. She is a credit to the business and handled the afternoon incredibly by herself on the bar along whilst multi-tasking. Foh and boh from my guess seeing her go from laptop to welcoming host when needed. Very impressed and we will be back later today as a result

Visited Saturday afternoon and managed to find a table for a few drinks. Bar service was good and the atmosphere inside was nice although the music was quite loud. Stayed for a few hours as my friend ordered the gammon, he seemed to enjoy this.

Very friendly and attentive staff made this an enjoyable morning with friends. Surprisingly high quality breakfast produce for a reasonable price .

Drinks quite expensive, but nice pub.

Attended with my family for lunch, the staff were particularly attentive, namely a young welsh couple who went above and beyond and immeasurably enhanced our experience. Would definitely come again because of him.

Had an overall good experience apart from one staff member, a young Welsh boy who I overheard is a student from another staff member, speak to my wife rudely when questioned what type of gin she wanted ( impatient, abrupt, aggressive tone). I believe his name was Sam. Could also hear him swearing and laughing with his colleague when walking past, which my children overheard sadly. Was a nice atmosphere and had lovely meals but sadly the whole experience was ruined by this particular staff member, so will not be returning.

Nice place to go for a few drinks with friends

We called in at The Plough out of my wanting to catch up with someone, known from a previous establishment, who now works there. The intention had been to move on after a couple of beers. Once at the bar we did not go on. The Plough has changed since my last visit, it seemed cleaner, more airy, with a reasonable range of ales to boot. The service was grand and it was good to see, after a bout of medical scares, my old acquaintance has lost none of their sparkle or volume. It was a decent venue where my companion, a colleague from working days, and I could swap our various news stories while enjoying a beer, or some more beers. Perhaps we were lucky it was a relatively quiet day in terms of the pub's trading, but it was certainly very good for us. We were there to drink, we did not eat.

Took my daughter and my wife here today and was absolutely blown away by the friendly service and wonderful food the prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were perfect I highly recommend this for anyone stopping by It's absolutely delicious!!

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great selection of drinks. Came along with my mates and had a whale of a time.

Good service. Everyone enjoyed the food. My flatbread/pizza was so crispy and tasty. My friends said their burgers were top notch. Only improvement I would say is to offer a better tab system. I was worried the whole time someone not in our party would get to know our tab number and start using it.

The bar staff are lovely and friendly there's nothing else matters .

Another lovely pub located just behind the train station...clean and friendly sports shown on multiple screens...a wide range of drinks there is something for all here...I would highly recommend if you're visiting the beautiful city of Chelmsford.

Best pub in Chemford by far reasonable priced drinks and very close to station. Must visit pub clean food looks amazing just went in for couple of pints. Next time For sure need to try the food.

First time visiting yesterday, came to watch the football, needed up staying and have food afterwards aswell, recommend the pizzas, they were really nice

What a fantastic venue staff are so polite and can’t do enough for you. Food is amazing loved the juice burger that I had. Would defo come here again when I’m in the area.

Got here at 10.15pm. Ment to be open till 10.30pm. Told they where closed. Very poor. Staff obviously wanted to finish early.

Had better experiences at other chains. Most staff friendly and welcoming but I heard someone say that women only have two purposes in life, it was cringeworthy and killed night out vibe. Someone got paralytic but no staff monitored/controlled it. The personal highlight for me was barely-legal drinkers down the end of the car park doing drugs amongst other things in public. Pub is marketed as and is LGBTQIA+ friendly which it is but not cis-female friendly when solo. Spent whole time on my nerves with all this going on around me. Would need huge incentive to return. Sorry not a 4*** review.

A functional pub, a rather dull interior, tries a little too hard to please everyone. Yes there are ales, craft, etc, but nothing to write home about, in an area with a huge variety of pubs to choose from, why would you choose this one?

I was here on Saturday during the FA cup final and the staff were brilliant even though it was busy (particularly the supervisor Sam), great service and atmosphere and the food was some of the best pub food in Chelmsford. 10/10 recommend!

Was visiting Chelmsford with a friend to do some axe throwing 🪓⚒️and afterwards we decided to pop into the town to find a pub showing sky sports ⚽️ and grab a bite to eat. Nice pub, had a tasty steak ciabatta sandwich with chips. Free parking round the bag which was a little tricky to find but got there in the end (thanks to google maps)!
