Went for a birthday party tonight, haven't been for years but had a wonderful night, would definitely go back.

Went for a bottomless brunch, and then stayed for football. Stevie was a little super star, she also had a table of 13, and despite only being a table of 5 she was super attentive, our food arrived promptly and we managed to make it all the way through the brunch drinks menu during our time slot. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, and definitely value for money. Would recommend

Good selection of beer on tap, pleasant atmosphere. Found it a bit expensive - £18 for a very average pizza and a half pint of beer.

Great band, good sound. Dear drinks but no entrance fee so fair enough.

Updated review following latest visit; it's a nice pub, but £20.35 for a pint of lager and 3 soft drinks, wow 😳 Perhaps should be called the golden fleeced.....😏

I always have a good time at The Fleece. Great for a later drink. Live music or DJs. Fun atmosphere.

I can't sleep in my house because of the loud music sound. shouting until 2 am screams loud music sounds continue non-stop. very disrespectful and disturbing. everyone has the right to live. I can't sleep in my house because of high noise.

We came to this pub last night after having a meal. We have always enjoyed the music and atmosphere there however last night we found the staff to be very rude. Normally when ordering drinks we are asked to pay after drinks are served however last night we were asked to pay straight away even before the drinks were made. The customers around us were not treated this way. After asking politely why we were being asked to pay before we had received the drinks we were told that we would not be served. We left shortly afterwards. We have been coming to this pub for years but clearly things have changed. We are not trouble makers and just wanted to have a good time. We are very disappointed with the way we were treated.

Sites with a group of 12 for a weekday work lunch: we used an offer of 50% off, which was excellent value. Excellent menu with plenty of choices. I had a small plate of cauliflower wings with hot honey sauce and classic nachos. Both dishes were Lovelly. Music and atmosphere was nice and hospitality was excellent.

Live music, reasonable drinks, no complaints!

We popped in by chance for the football on the weekend and the staff were super helpful getting us a cheeky table the food atmosphere and drinks were spot on thank you for a great evening

I visited the fleece for a drink after work, the vibe was pleasant and just what I needed after a long day, I was served by a lovely boy named kieran if I remember correctly, and I would definitely visit again soon, also hoping to see kieran there;) Thank you guys!

It's a great pub with a lively vibe. Good beer and food. Nice place for an afternoon pint as well as a great stop on a late night out.

The atmosphere and music is always great. Prices are a bit on the expensive side though and it can be a little bit of a wait to be served

Came in for a meal and a drink as was in the area not too long ago. The server I had was called Roman and he was friendly, even helped me choose a different gin I’d never tried before. Was clean and tidy not too loud or busy either great atmosphere, would go back again. Great customer service that I haven’t experienced elsewhere.

Drinks a little expensive but worth it for a treat. Was lovely to take a long walk with my dog and be given such a warm welcome on stopping off here for lunch today. Shout out to Amy who went above and beyond with the treats, water and cuddles for my dog to make us feel at home.

Disgusting venue. Accused me of touching a women without proof. Check the camera didn’t go any where near her. Thick bouncers couldn’t get a job anywhere else so don’t blame them.

Came in Friday may 31st ordered a lager and a cider and 2 regular diet cokes which came to £20.95....I felt a mistake had been made but on looking it was correct but quite how you justify £3.70 for 1 regular coke is just scandalous. Staff were friendly and the pub on the whole looks nice. Looked at the menu but they were very sticky and stunk of stale booze which put me off.

Decent pub, nice staff, good beer, however, the karaoke staff are shocking, hers my honest review about them karaoke people…… Nikki the host is the rudest person I’ve ever met, we went to sit with our friends (on there table) only to be shouted at aggressively that we were not allowed to sit there and this was “her” area, when I replied, there are no signs so we came to sit here, she started swearing repeatedly at me and my partner for making this mistake, this followed by the ‘bloke’ on the decks then making a comment against us making us feel embarrassed, and implementing that she was right, we have many witnesses against this and this company should be shut down.

Fantastic bottomless brunch - All cocktails are handmade and are to die for! Stevie was a fantastic host - we never had an empty glass! 100% recommend!

I came in last night for karaoke, there are some great student deals atm. Staff doing the karaoke was so nice to see and very welcoming and friendly. Stevie and Roman absolutely smashed ABBA! Defo will be coming back again !! 🥰

Golden fleece is a decent boozer with a good food menu. 3 ales on all well kept. Average price for the area.

The bar girl Stevie was amazing last night. She was friendly, polite and helpful. I never knew what drink I fancy but Stevie recommend a glass of kraken rum with cola. If Stevie ever reads this then you helped me find a new favourite drink. Thank you once again.

My go to place for drinks, amazing atmosphere and the staff are really friendly. Especially Stevie who served me at quiz night last Thursday, she was lovely and super efficient. Good job Stevie!

Popped in a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised had a burger which was tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful, especially RoRo with lots of useful information about the area. would definitely come back again.

Came for karaoke great vibes love the fact that staff have a go singing too! The bartender Roman was very friendly and gave great service, definitely recommend coming here for a drink

We did a bottomless brunch here at the weekend and it was great! The food was lovely, the atmosphere was lively (it being St Patrick's Day weekend) and the drinks included with the bottomless just kept coming! Our server was brilliant and overall we had a lovely time.

I had booked the 'Mothers Day Abba Brunch' for my mum and sister on Mothers day Sunday. When we arrived, there was no music and loud football playing. No one got in touch with me to let me know that the 'Abba Brunch' was cancelled. My mum travelled for an hour to get to Chelmsford and we were extremely disappointed. The gentleman who gave me my deposit back was very nice about it, but it was a shame that our Mothering Sunday plans were scuppered by this oversight.

Got kicked out of here for a drink falling that wasn’t related to our table, went to order a drink at the bar to which they started ‘we aren’t in a comfortable position to serve you’ so I decided to leave. The company was a karaoke night who couldn’t run a barn dance in a barn and the staff couldn’t run a drink up in a brewery. Constantly assuming the wrong person of ‘dropping a drink’ and when asking for evidence they couldn’t provide evidence and kept taking the poor events word for granted. £5.60 for a bottle of Budweiser is heavily overpriced too. Do not visit!

Lovely brunch, service was prompt and we managed to get adequate alcohol down us. Food was lovely, good value. Would recommend!

£10 would have been better off with a meal deal from Tesco. Truly awful supposed to be bbq beef and cheese. Grotty bits of mince. Bread Sub was small and so badly over microwaved it was like floury rock. When I told them they said thanks for letting me know!!. Won't be going there again. The chips were ok though...

Had a fantastic Friday night at the Fleece. Atmosphere was amazing, staff were lovely in particular Niamh who was an absolute star. She always had a lovely smile on her face and was happy to help me set up the Mixr app. I look forward to coming back in the future.

This place gets worse and worse every time I go in here - used to be lovely pub with good music but not any more! I booked a table for 8 people for drinks and the table we were given could barely fit 5 people comfortably. Food is always disappointing - pizza came stone cold and chicken wings had a funny flavour and very dry. Drinks are ridiculously priced - £14 for a pre made cocktail! I do understand its not the staff that set the pricing but it's still a joke! Staff are always miserable and very unhelpful!

Went for bottomless brunch with the girls, food was really lovely and we upgraded for the cocktails. Service was really good, was really reasonable for a bottomless brunch, would go again.

We went on a Saturday for a bottomless brunch - food was amazing, service was brilliant (we had Tom who was super attentive and kept bringing us another drink without us having to ask) 10/10 would recommend! Great vibes, great selection of drinks, brilliant experience.

Very cramped, the bar area made it difficult to order due to being narrow through the corridor to the inside seating and outdoor area. Pricing has risen significantly since my last visit a few years ago.

Had a permanent sign on a column (See Photo) very clearly stating 2 for one cocktails at all times when the same. When ordering 2 of the same was told this is not the case on separate occasions by different members of staff. It either is or it isn't? Smacks of 'Lets see what we can get away with' to me. I don't like profiteering, It's already the most expensive pub I been in this year. 'Fleece' is definitely the operative word here.

Great pub in the centre of Chelmsford with an excellent selection of beers and numerous big screens to watch the sport. Capable of showing more than one game at the same time. Food looked good, but didn't try it.

Real ale very expensive except on Mondays and Tuesdays when the deal is on. Would not pay £6+ for a pint of real ale here as it's okay but not in tip top condition. Staff are helpful and pleasant in my experience.

Food took ages to come out, some people in our group were finishing as others were just getting their meals. Drinks very expensive. Good atmosphere for the rugby and a lot of Tvs to watch on.

Nice pub located in Chelmsford City centre with outside seating and a good selection of beers. The food is good, full of flavours and arrived in good time. However (and it's a biggy), it's really expensive. A pint of beer, two cocktails (2 for 1), a sharing platter and chips came to £45.

Can here for a drink only was £12 for a double Bacardi and Diet Coke and a glass of Coke. Absolute rip off will not be returning
