The plan was to stop off here for a drink! As my partner and myself were on a long walk, however the experience was extremely disappointing. I had popped to the bathroom while my partner headed to the bar. Upon joining him at the bar he was still waiting to be served! No issue with waiting to be served and happy to wait in line. However neither of the four staff behind the bar, including what appeared to be the manager made any sort of effort to acknowledge my partner in my absence and toward myself when I became present. A simple ‘will be right with you’, eye contact to acknowledge our presence would have been courteous, at the very least basic customer service. They continued to serve others that had then joined after ourselves, so at this point we felt very unwelcome. It is a shame as we had previously visited during the summer, for dinner, and had a lovely experience in the outdoor seating area. Needless to say we took our custom somewhere else, so glad we did as we stumbled upon a pub, that understands how to welcome their customers and provide a friendly atmosphere.

Dropped into this place on the off chance whilst dog walking and we weren't disappointed. I had the steak bavette and the other half had the beef roast. Both were cooked to perfection. Location on a Sunday is pretty popular so expect a fairly busy vibe... With a large number of dogs dotted about... Partner order the tiramisu and he was blown away with how tasty it was. The coffee flavour was pretty strong cut with sweetness. Food cost was pretty good especially for a Sunday and at least what U got was really really nice to eat. Highly recommend this place... Can imagine it's heaving in summer and very pretty....

Really enjoyed our Sunday roast. The table wasn't ready when we arrived but that didn't bother us. We just sat at the bar and had a drink. Any time you looked up, there was a member of staff ready to come and help with top ups, etc. The portion sizes are big so come hungry. The bar is cosy and they have outdoor seating and service as well. It is easy to park your boat as well.

Came yesterday afternoon for a birthday meal with my family. The young guy who served us was lovely, friendly and attentive, but the lady who appeared to be in charge was so rude, strutting around the restaurant in a terrible mood, tutting and generally acting like everything was too much trouble for her.

I had high hopes for this pub, but my experience was completely ruined by an appalling discovery found in one of the dishes. This is beyond unacceptable and raises serious concerns about hygiene and food safety standards. While the staff were apologetic, this is something no customer should ever have to encounter. Avoid at all costs.

Arrived at 1400 on 2 Jan 25 (Thursday) for lunch, inexplicably the pub had stopped serving food, however the table next to us was served food, irritating. We asked for some chips which they agreed to however one portion of chips is £4.95 ridiculous. As you can see from the photo it is not £5 worth of chips so that small plate of chips cost £15 ridiculous. I will not ever be returning to this pub because I cannot guarantee they will be able to provide me lunch at a very reasonable time of the day. This pub has all of the attributes to be great but falls short due to management and service.

Food was absolutely delicious including the desert. Which without request they made a happy birthday tray and sang too which was just incredible for mum. They didn’t have to go above and beyond but they did and we are very grateful for what you did. Will definitely be returning in 2025 for food and drinks, what a lovely restaurant!

We held our Christmas party here for the third year in a row. As the food and staff have always been amazing. This year was as good as ever, great food and very polite and accommodating staff. Though this year the restaurant area was booked out for a private function and we had a table in the bar area next to the entrance door and ladies toilets . This was far from ideal coupled with the over zealous dj with the volume control. Credit to the manager, while he was unable to move us to another table, he was able to mute the speaker above our heads and apologise unreservedly for the venue change and table positioning. So while we didn’t have our usual festive evening, we still enjoyed fabulous delicious Christmas dinner and great wine and cocktails. Will definitely book again next year as long as we can be assured of the table locations. Please please hold it it in the restaurant area! Merry Christmas to all the great staff and wishing you a wonderful New Year. Thank you

After hearing the manager from one of our local eateries had recently moved to this restaurant we knew we had to give it a try. We went for a Sunday lunch and weren’t disappointed. Between us we had the beef and chicken and all was lovely. We then finished it off with dessert which was equally nice. Since James (the manager) has left the Dinton Hermit the restaurant has gone down hill in our opinion and we no longer visit. The fact that Jane’s is now the manager of The Grand Junction Arms we know this place is going to be good and we will 100% be visiting again with our family and friends!

Found purely by accident. Wonderful canal side pub with great family atmosphere. Only the first time visited so had a calamari starter and the vegan pie for dinner, Apple and cinnamon crumble with custard dessert and it was incredible. The only downside was not enough custard, but then, I am a fat git with eyes bigger than my belly... if that's possible. Lovely staff too. Didn't have to wait long as was nice that they left us alone to eat and as soon as we had finished, asked if we needed more drinks or anything else. This will be a regular thing for us. Fantastic

We visited this pub, in it's wonderful canalside setting, after a shopping spree at the garden centre opposite. It was a busy Saturday lunchtime and we hadn't booked, but the lovely staff found us a cosy table. Our drinks order was taken and the drinks arrived just as we'd made our selection from the menu. I chose the fishcake starter with a side of fries, my husband chose the bubble and squeak with a side of chunky chips, and my daughter chose the fish finger sandwich with a side of chunky fries. We sat back and enjoyed the busy, yet cosy atmosphere. The staff were very efficient; clearing tables, assisting diners, bringing out delicious looking meals. Although it was busy, our food didn't take long to arrive. All of it was hot and delicious. We live about 15 miles away, but have vowed to return. We loved the canalside location and thought The Grand Junction would be the perfect place to enjoy lunch after a brisk walk!

We visited here with family we don’t see regularly. My partner booked one of the outdoor pods as they were described on the website as being very popular. This was our first time at the restaurant but we have driven past a lot and it always looks full/nice. Sad to say this was one of the worst experiences eating out we have had. It ruined the afternoon/visit. The blond lady who greeted us and showed the 5 of us to a tiny 4 seat table indoors was quite unwelcoming/ hostile. We explained her mistake and that we had actually booked a pod outside. Another member of staff stepped in and showed us to a pod. The pods are in very poor repair. Damp and cold. The door and both windows were damaged and wouldn’t close properly. There were dead crane flys and spiders/cobwebs everywhere. The heaters are on a timer so regularly go off. The speakers don’t work. When staff open the door to speak with you it gets freezing again. There was food (peas) on the floor. It started to rain and water came spouting in through the broken window. I asked to go inside to be told they were fully booked. I felt so sorry for the young man serving us. He was up and down in the rain and at one point he fell really badly having slipped on the wet grass. The menu doesn’t show calorie information. You have to scan a QR code but the menu it takes you to doesn’t reflect some of the items on the menu in the restaurant. The food took a while to come and my son’s starter which was vegetable sticks from the children’s set menu had two thick black head hairs in it. We sent this back but weren’t offered a replacement. The rest of the food was mediocre at best. Luke warm and nothing to write home about. My husband had the burger and chips and said he was still hungry when we left but this could have been because we were waiting 50 minutes for our deserts before telling the manager to forget it as we had been sat in the cold for just over two and a half hours and had only had a main course. The manager discounted the bill due to our complaints but we wanted to give the wonderful young man who served us a big tip as he really was so kind and tried his best. He should not have been made to serve people in the pods in the rain. The pods should be closed out if summer season. Unfortunately the chef glaring at us as we paid meant that we just hurried out. The manager seemed genuinely sorry and embarrassed with what we were unhappy with. The restaurant wasn’t busy. It was nothing short of a shambles really.

Visited 14/09/24, it was alright but the soft drink was expensive £4 for a smaller bottle of Coke Zero. The location is good and the facilities are also good but you’ll pay for the location. A booked table for 4. After being seated, 35 minutes later, we were asked for our food order which we gave together with a drinks order of a bottle of wine. 20 minutes later we were informed by a surly barmaid, that the ordered wine was out of stock. Food eventually arrived and was well below par for a not exactly busy dining room. When we complained we were told that they were extremely busy and struggled to get round to everyone. The garden was extremely busy but has a separate outdoor bar and a food outlet so had no baring on the so called restaurant which was far from busy. All in all a dreadfull lunch. Needless to say we will not be visiting this place in the future.

Serving excellent, freshly cooked food from an outside van - and it tastes absolutely fantastic. Lovely canal side location

Outstanding food and great service. First visit and very impressed. We tried the harissa butternut squash vegan feta filo parcel. Delicious and highly recommended! Our compliments to the chef.

Just ate the most amazing vegan burger. I'm not vegan but the description was so good I gave it a go. Forgot to take a photo of the food... I got so involved in tasting it I actually scoffed the lot... and I don't scoff food! My friend had a chicken burger... he also got carried away. I've been in England since March... eaten all over. THIS is the best I've had. Wow! Yummy! The chef really knows his stuff. Pesto...sundried tomato...beetroot falafel... fresh tomatoes, crispy lettuce. Yes! 5*****

I had a Chicken Katsu Curry and it was amazing. Service and atmosphere was great, would definitely go there again and would also recommend a visit.

The refurb has been a much needed improvement, but the outdoor seating area feels a bit disjointed from the test, and despite it being pretty quiet overall when we went, the bar was still messy.

This place has an identity crisis, 1/3rd is a pub, the rest pretends to be a fancy restaurant with whisky and wine glasses on every table. Shame that it's for storage as the few times we were in they went mostly unused. The food is "fine", but absolutely not worth the money. They seem to be understaffed, the barmans are taking orders at the tables, how about you pay your employees a fair salary instead of force charging for service that isn't even particularly good?

Served by Becky, who was lovely and very thorough :) It was cold in the restaurant and some items have been changed on the menu, not a big fan of the changes, prefer some of the old items

4 adults 2 children on pre booked bar table for a birthday lunch. Starters mediocre, Sunday roasts were less than mediocre. Poor quality beef, overcooked yorkshires, soft roast potatoes, kids meal wasn't what was ordered, chicken strips of cold chicken with equally cold chips. Sent back then arrived as quarter chicken joint. Luckily a senior staff member came and we reordered a pizza. They refunded the cost of the kids meal. When you pay in excess of £160 for meals and drinks and then come home to eat, you know you won’t be returning.

Tried this pub for the 1st on Saturday, wonderful welcome from the landlord on opening the door, there was entertainment by the sensational Andy the crooner Marshall, who quickly got the crowded pub singing & dancing, reasonably priced drinks were served, quickly by dedicated ,friendly staff, and the food was wonderful , highly recommend this pub
