The Grand Junction Arms is a gem of a pub with a fantastic atmosphere that makes you feel welcome the moment you arrive. The staff are friendly and attentive, and service is consistently good. One of the standout features is the spacious garden that sits right by the canal – it’s the perfect spot to unwind, especially on a sunny day. There’s something really peaceful about sitting by the water with a drink in hand, just soaking it all in. That said, there are a couple of downsides. The chips, while tasty, are definitely overpriced for the portion size – a bit disappointing when everything else hits the mark. Also, the beer selection isn’t the biggest, so if you’re hoping for a wide variety on tap, you might be left wanting. Still, the overall vibe more than makes up for it. A great spot for a laid-back afternoon or evening, especially when the sun’s out.

We have been looking forward to eating here but we were very disappointed. We pre booked our table and it took 80mim before we were served our food. The food was very hot, and did not have that much veg with the dinner. They automatically charged 10% table service which I didn’t think was deserved because of the very long wait. At no time did the apologies for waiting or did they ask if our meal was ok even when we paid.

Lovely location but not the most comfortable if you are keen to enjoy the sunshine - backless bench seating, with some very comfortable seats in the shade with no view. Terribly understaffed bar so we waited ages for a drink and couldn’t be bothered to join the slow moving queue for a coffee. God help you if you are vegetarian and not keen on hummus because it’s ever present in the bar menu - more imaginative options please (and not all vegetarians are vegan). Having said all that, excellent fish and chips and small size plenty big enough.

I had pre-booked a table and presumed that meant table service. However there were only two female members of staff on duty, one covering the bar, the other covering all the tables, inside and out, so queuing at the bar to place the order was the only option. Due to the lack of staff, service was abysmally slow. When our food came the steak was tough and the peppercorn sauce which had been ordered was not in evidence. I would not hurry back to eat here again. Such a pity as it was a birthday celebration.

Went there for Sunday roast and came away extremely disappointed . We had four meals 2 acceptable 2 extremely poor . Slow cooked pork ! What a load of bull ! What I was presented with is what is known as a pork belly slice in the butchers industry about £1 in any butcher’s shop . Roast pork should be proper roast pork and presented as sliced or shredded etc . The beef on one of our meals was mostly gristle ! Not the pink sirloin as described . Veg and Yorkshire pudding were ok . But value for money was rubbish . The place was very noisy and in my opinion more of a venue for young families with kids .. However the service and attentiveness of the staff was very good .we did get 2 sweets for free as compensation. But unfortunately I was there because I thought the food would be good . Shame ! Obviously won’t ever cast a shadow on their doorstep again .

Seriously understaffed and no apparent system for the restaurant part of the pub. We booked for my birthday for a meal at 7pm, on arrival it was unclear where to go and who to speak to. We were eventually seated (by a lady who seemed to be both serving the bar and waiting tables) and informed of many items not available on the menu, after another 30 minutes we had not even been asked for a drinks order. I can't comment on the food as we then left and went elsewhere to eat.

Other than the above ratings, the online booking system and response to requests was very poor. We took a dog, had to call in advance and nobody answered after numerous attempts, so we booked online adding that we were bringing a dog, and the staff were surprised we had a dog and had to change our table allocation to the bar area. Fortunately there was a table available.

Dropped into this place on the off chance whilst dog walking and we weren't disappointed. I had the steak bavette and the other half had the beef roast. Both were cooked to perfection. Location on a Sunday is pretty popular so expect a fairly busy vibe... With a large number of dogs dotted about... Partner order the tiramisu and he was blown away with how tasty it was. The coffee flavour was pretty strong cut with sweetness. Food cost was pretty good especially for a Sunday and at least what U got was really really nice to eat. Highly recommend this place... Arrived at 1400 on 2 Jan 25 (Thursday) for lunch, inexplicably the pub had stopped serving food, however the table next to us was served food, irritating. We asked for some chips which they agreed to however one portion of chips is £4.95 ridiculous. As you can see from the photo it is not £5 worth of chips so that small plate of chips cost £15 ridiculous. I will not ever be returning to this pub because I cannot guarantee they will be able to provide me lunch at a very reasonable time of the day. This pub has all of the attributes to be great but falls short due to management and service.

We held our Christmas party here for the third year in a row. As the food and staff have always been amazing. This year was as good as ever, great food and very polite and accommodating staff. Though this year the restaurant area was booked out for a private function and we had a table in the bar area next to the entrance door and ladies toilets . This was far from ideal coupled with the over zealous dj with the volume control. Credit to the manager, while he was unable to move us to another table, he was able to mute the speaker above our heads and apologise unreservedly for the venue change and table positioning. So while we didn’t have our usual festive evening, we still enjoyed fabulous delicious Christmas dinner and great wine and cocktails. Will definitely book again next year as long as we can be assured of the table locations. Please please hold it it in the restaurant area! Merry Christmas to all the great staff and wishing you a wonderful New Year. Thank you

After hearing the manager from one of our local eateries had recently moved to this restaurant we knew we had to give it a try. We went for a Sunday lunch and weren’t disappointed. Between us we had the beef and chicken and all was lovely. We then finished it off with dessert which was equally nice. Since James (the manager) has left the Dinton Hermit the restaurant has gone down hill in our opinion and we no longer visit. The fact that Jane’s is now the manager of The Grand Junction Arms we know this place is going to be good and we will 100% be visiting again with our family and friends!

Found purely by accident. Wonderful canal side pub with great family atmosphere. Only the first time visited so had a calamari starter and the vegan pie for dinner, Apple and cinnamon crumble with custard dessert and it was incredible. The only downside was not enough custard, but then, I am a fat git with eyes bigger than my belly... if that's possible. Lovely staff too. Didn't have to wait long as was nice that they left us alone to eat and as soon as we had finished, asked if we needed more drinks or anything else. This will be a regular thing for us. Fantastic

We visited this pub, in it's wonderful canalside setting, after a shopping spree at the garden centre opposite. It was a busy Saturday lunchtime and we hadn't booked, but the lovely staff found us a cosy table. Our drinks order was taken and the drinks arrived just as we'd made our selection from the menu. I chose the fishcake starter with a side of fries, my husband chose the bubble and squeak with a side of chunky chips, and my daughter chose the fish finger sandwich with a side of chunky fries. We sat back and enjoyed the busy, yet cosy atmosphere. The staff were very efficient; clearing tables, assisting diners, bringing out delicious looking meals. Although it was busy, our food didn't take long to arrive. All of it was hot and delicious. We live about 15 miles away, but have vowed to return. We loved the canalside location and thought The Grand Junction would be the perfect place to enjoy lunch after a brisk walk!

We visited here with family we don’t see regularly. My partner booked one of the outdoor pods as they were described on the website as being very popular. This was our first time at the restaurant but we have driven past a lot and it always looks full/nice. Sad to say this was one of the worst experiences eating out we have had. It ruined the afternoon/visit. The blond lady who greeted us and showed the 5 of us to a tiny 4 seat table indoors was quite unwelcoming/ hostile. We explained her mistake and that we had actually booked a pod outside. Another member of staff stepped in and showed us to a pod. The pods are in very poor repair. Damp and cold. The door and both windows were damaged and wouldn’t close properly. There were dead crane flys and spiders/cobwebs everywhere. The heaters are on a timer so regularly go off. The speakers don’t work. When staff open the door to speak with you it gets freezing again. There was food (peas) on the floor. It started to rain and water came spouting in through the broken window. I asked to go inside to be told they were fully booked. I felt so sorry for the young man serving us. He was up and down in the rain and at one point he fell really badly having slipped on the wet grass. The menu doesn’t show calorie information. You have to scan a QR code but the menu it takes you to doesn’t reflect some of the items on the menu in the restaurant. The food took a while to come and my son’s starter which was vegetable sticks from the children’s set menu had two thick black head hairs in it. We sent this back but weren’t offered a replacement. The rest of the food was mediocre at best. Luke warm and nothing to write home about. My husband had the burger and chips and said he was still hungry when we left but this could have been because we were waiting 50 minutes for our deserts before telling the manager to forget it as we had been sat in the cold for just over two and a half hours and had only had a main course. The manager discounted the bill due to our complaints but we wanted to give the wonderful young man who served us a big tip as he really was so kind and tried his best. He should not have been made to serve people in the pods in the rain. The pods should be closed out if summer season. Unfortunately the chef glaring at us as we paid meant that we just hurried out. The manager seemed genuinely sorry and embarrassed with what we were unhappy with. The restaurant wasn’t busy. It was nothing short of a shambles really.

A booked table for 4. After being seated, 35 minutes later, we were asked for our food order which we gave together with a drinks order of a bottle of wine. 20 minutes later we were informed by a surly barmaid, that the ordered wine was out of stock. Food eventually arrived and was well below par for a not exactly busy dining room. When we complained we were told that they were extremely busy and struggled to get round to everyone. The garden was extremely busy but has a separate outdoor bar and a food outlet so had no baring on the so called restaurant which was far from busy. All in all a dreadfull lunch. Needless to say we will not be visiting this place in the future.

There was possibly a mix up and so we had a little wait for our starters but we weren't in any hurry so that was fine. Our main server was very friendly and personable and the food was well-cooked and very tasty. The portions seemed a bit small for the price but we were left full so that might say more about our greedy eyes than anything else. What a wonderful location only matched by the friendly staff and amazing food. Located alongside the banks of the Grand Union Canal, the pub offers a good selection of draft beers and an extensive wine list. It has a large beer garden with a large number of covered tables and even private outdoor dinning pods, by way of large summer houses with a mixture of circular and rectangular tables. We didn't eat on this occasion but what I saw being served looked good. What a great pub with lots of outdoor spaces.

Amazing open terrace space in nature to enjoy a coffee or a drink in summer, found this place randomly but definitely I will come back and I will try the food. There’s no many places like this and with over 20 tables around.Definitely recommend

Visited Grand Junction Arms through Mx5 owners club. Nice location and great place. Will visit again during next meet up and planning to bring family for a lunch.

Waited over 45 mins for food (not busy) food came then burger was whipped away as wasn't ours, right one came out with a waitress who fully swore. Food was dry and gammon was so salty all looked like it had been under heat lamps for a long time! Mine was missing stuffing. But darnt ask as extra gravy took 10 mins. No apologies at all. Total let down

We had Skye as a server who was training and she did a brilliant job, very attentive and personable. Food was good all round, as well as good value for money. Wins all round.

Tried this pub for the 1st on Saturday, wonderful welcome from the landlord on opening the door, there was entertainment by the sensational Andy the crooner Marshall, who quickly got the crowded pub singing & dancing, reasonably priced drinks were served, quickly by dedicated ,friendly staff, and the food was wonderful , highly recommend this pub
