The Fishery Inn in Dacorum

4 adults 2 children on pre booked bar table for a birthday lunch. Starters mediocre, Sunday roasts were less than mediocre. Poor quality beef, overcooked yorkshires, soft roast potatoes, kids meal wasn't what was ordered, chicken strips of cold chicken with equally cold chips. Sent back then arrived as quarter chicken joint. Luckily a senior staff member came and we reordered a pizza. They refunded the cost of the kids meal. When you pay in excess of £160 for meals and drinks and then come home to eat, you know you won’t be returning.

This pub has lovely riverside location and great front of house staff, let down by a badly led kitchen team. I’m sure they are trying hard but they don’t know what they are doing and that comes down to the chef. Half a roast chicken drowned in a cold sauce which smelled and tasted awful. Cod of such poor quality it was only edible at one end. Dry fries with both. The puree’d mushy peas were just gross. The food arrived at uncoordinated times even within the same dish - a kitchen issue, not FoH. Overall, this was a mediocre effort, by any measure. By all means go there for a drink but don’t eat there until they hire a competent leader in the kitchen.

Jess was fantastic! Here for a bottomless brunch for my 21st and she made not only me but my friends very welcomed. Had a few issues but nothing major and she was so attentive and assertive. Very confident and lovey and handle everything very well. Jess made our bottomless brunch. She should get a raise!!

We both chose from the two course lunch menu and thought it was good value. Although it was busy, the food arrived in a reasonable time and the staff were helpful and cheerful. Thank you for an enjoyable meal.

Love the food here, a little pricey but! worth every penny, highly recommend anyone to visit and be impressed!

Eaten here many times over the years and always had a great experience. A special mention for Ana who is very attentive and serves with a smile.

Came here on Valentine’s Day, brilliant food and atmosphere, food was quick and hot. Our Servers Ana & Alex were lovely and very professional. I look forward to coming back here again.

We had pre-cooked a table for Sunday lunch yesterday and arrived to be told, quite firmly, that we could only have our table for one hour as they were very busy. My partner responded that this would largely depend on how quickly the food came out and the blonde waitress with the wrist tattoo replied "You will get your food quickly". It wasnt a nice welcome to be rushed before we even sat down; especially as we'd pre booked! The food arrived 40 minutes later and was Luke warm and service was slow all-round so we ended up staying longer than the allocated hour. We usually go to The Marchmont (which we believe is part of the same group) and will be returning to the Marchmont as no matter how busy they are, we are always made to feel welcome. Staff definately need extra training in customer service at the Fishery!

Table was not ready, had to wait too long for drinks to be served and food. Was not checked on enough with waitressing staff and multiple members of the table had no drink during their meal. Food was average. We have been a few times before and it seems to have gone downhill. Staff need further training on good hospitality service.

If I could give no star I would but no option. Needs serious improvement on food and staff. Staff require basic knowledge of hospitality. Waiting 25 minutes for our booked table, to wait 20 minutes more to get our drinks ordered, food arriving cold, over cooked chips, dry chicken, tasteless pasta and wet fish, items missing from roast. We were a group of nine people, had to ask for the table to be cleared, waiting staff lacking in training. No check backs done, no offer of anymore drinks, long waits and no where to park car, staff just give you excuses and just say we are extremely busy is not an excuse from poor start to finish. Would never return, would get better service at a McDonald’s.

We had a lovely lunch, Fillet Steak for me and Belly pork for my wife. It was lovely and Irina, our waitress looked after us wonderfully. It is alway such a pleasure to visit here as the staff are so friendly and helpful. We will return.

Have been here several times before and always been satisfied however, we came here today for my birthday celebration and was very disappointed with the food. The service was fine , Alex was very nice and helpful. We ordered 2 of the cod and chips and not only waited a long time before it was served, the food was very over cooked and quite tasteless. The chips were very dark and even the puréed peas were bland. My dad ordered the Sea Bass which was fine but should have been served with green beans and baby new potatoes - he found only 3 of each on his plate!! I’d be very unlikely to come back in a hurry. Very disappointing.

Excellent pre-cinema mains at 50%. Outstanding customer service by Ana, who told us she enjoyed her job (it showed!) friendly, attentive and helpful, the pub is lucky to have her.

Ana and Irene were our servers and were very good at making sure we had everything we needed without intruding. The roast dinner and desserts were very tasty so thanks to Mike and Luke.

Absolutely delicious food! There were 4 of us and not a single meal went unfinished. I recommend the pork belly with scallops, it's fantastic! Our server Ana went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and that one of us, that had food allergies, could make informed choices, taking the time to explain the menu! Will definitely come again!

Nice friendly welcome, our waitress was great,efficient, friendly, couldn't do enough for us , especially as she was the only waitress serving a busy lunch session. We asked to play some music as it was quiet in there ,which she did too! Meals and drinks were great too. Lovely view across the canal.

Booked bottomless bubbles to catch up with a friend over the holidays, drinks and food were amazing, especially Jo our server made us feel so welcome and truly made the experience !

Service was good and food reasonable. But table was located next to main door/entrance and given the freezing conditions it was a very uncomfortable and cold seating location. When we requested for the entrance doors to be closed instead of open we was told this was not possible because people may think the Fishery was closed, unbelievable considering the car park was full and you could see people eating and drinking from the outside. Hence avoid this table at all costs during the winter .

We meet down here usually every few months, always a good Sunday dinner and good service. It’s a popular restaurant as it’s by the canal and has been through a renovation in the last few years with a conservatory added which I believe can be reserved for events.

No draft beer, half the menu items weren’t available. Ruined what should have been a family celebration evening.

I would like to thank every member of staff at the fishery inn today on Christmas Day, from the second we walked in, we were greeted by numerous staff members, baring in mind our table of 6 was 4pm we could of got a frosty, fed up reception, but everyone was lovely festive and welcoming! Our service was brilliant our food was honestly amazing! We go to the fishery regularly and always have a lovely time but was dubious having a late sitting on Christmas Day but I honestly couldn’t fault a thing! The staff working today were a credit to the Fishery inn as always, Thank you and merry Christmas, the Wyatt / McMahon family xx

I came for Sunday lunch with my nana and we both had a lovely time, the food was amazing and staff that looked us, especially Ana who made the experience very enjoyable from start to finish, she made sure we had everything we needed and is a very delightful young lady and a credit to the fishery Inn. Normally we have an excellent time at the Fishery Inn and, as it is local, we use it often. However, the food last night was not up to its usual high standard. The octopus and scallop starters were lovely. However the mains may have been sitting in the kitchen too long. My chips weren't even very warm, the onion rings were greasy and the pork belly and scallops were too salty. Had I seen our waiter while we were eating, I would have said something at the time. As I said it was very busy and hats off to our waiter (Oleksandr). We will be back after Christmas.

My wife and I love going to the Fishery Inn for a cozy pub experience. We've been there a few times now and always enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The pub has a rustic feel with an open fire and waterside, which makes it perfect for a chilly evening. We've tried the mezze platter there and it's delicious. It's a great way to sample a bit of everything. We also enjoy the selection of drinks, which includes a good variety of beers, wines, and cocktails. Overall, we highly recommend the Fishery Inn Boxmoor for a relaxing and enjoyable evening out.

We had a lovely meal the first time we went in the summer. Sitting outside, we enjoyed the atmosphere. However when we went back last week. We had a bad experience. The food we ordered was cold, probably because no one delivered it to us on time. We asked for it to be changed, but staff member, who seemed like a student, appeared confused and she didn’t know how to handle the situation. The steak was very chewy… couldn’t eat… we wouldn’t go back.

Ana was a lovely waitress, very friendly and helpful. I had the 2 course lunchtime special with pate and gammon, egg and chips, very nice and good value.

Somewhat expensive, you have to enter your reg number on machine as soon as you get there. Dog friendly.

We were seated by staff in the bar, so absolutely no service whatsoever. We had to find our own menus and keep going backwards and forwards to the bar to order. Hardly any staff. The food took ages to arrive (but was very good, if a bit expensive ), and when we went to pay, the barmaid was making multiple cups of coffee for another table, and we literally waited about ten minutes before anyone came to take our money. No one apologised to us for the wait. I probably won’t go again.

We particularly liked our lunchtime visit. The weather was good, the sun was shining and it was a perfect day to go out for lunch. We had a warm welcome and got the table we requested.
