I stayed here for 3 days/nights during a work related course, the bar/restaurant staff were exceptional throughout, helpful, accommodating and very pleasant. No task was too big or small and the attention to detail made our stay perfect. I will return to this establishment when in the area in the future. 5 stars coming from my team and I for this place.

Our visit started very well, we were shown straight to our table and our drinks order was taken promptly. Shortly after our food order was taken … I had a starter but my wife decided not to … we both ordered a roast. Unfortunately, there was a significant delay in bringing the starter (liver pate) … a table near us that came in after us had their starters much earlier. To compensate, the chef increased the meat portion on the roast … a good approach, but there is only so much meat that one can eat. It would have been better to reduce the cost of the starter. It’s a shame that the service was lacking as the food was very good.

Buxton has an abundance of pubs and restaurants. We choose this pub as it looked nice and cosy with a lovely fire burning. We were warmly greeted by all the staff. The pub was very old and well looked after. The bar being a very good feature. They do senior specials 2 courses for £6.99. We opted for two meals £15.99 of hunters chicken which was delicious. I would definitely recommend this pub

From the moment we arrived we were treated warmly by staff, we were seated immediately and the food was delicious. I had the lamb was fantastic and the mini pie was divine I could have eaten 20 more!!It's clear the pub is short staffed but the staff serving were fantastic, especially Lachie and Alex. This is definitely going to be our new local. Many thanks for a lovely evening.

Sadly not a great pub which is a shame because I am sure it could be . We went for dinner and they had no chicken, no belly pork no lamb no ciabatta. In fact the girl said she couldn’t remember all the items they hadn’t got .it was a Saturday before the bank holiday so you would have thought they would have stocked up. I had lasagne and husband had pie. Both very poor. Average at best. Would not eat there again.

Place is filthy. Reason given by management was they were busy as they had a wedding. Nah the dirt was not 24 hours old it looked like someone had thrown up on the side of the bed. And I had booked a so called suite Would NOT recommend to anyone

First time we have Booked the lounge. This will not be the last. We were friendly welcomed at reception explained how it worked. The breakfast there was cereals, porridge, cold and hot fresh food you can go back as many times as you wish. The drinks there was a good selection alcohol or non alcohol, along with a coffee machine. There were no toilet in the lounge area which is a shame. Overall a good experience

Where to start! I didn't see one member of staff smile and it was so slow. There were 9 of us wanting tea, coffee and scones. There were only a couple of members of staff so we had to queue very slowly to order and pay, then queue very slowly to get our drinks. The tables still had used cups etc to clear away and we all thought the prices were high for what we got. I paid almost £4 for a standard latte! In the garden centre itself the prices again were very high. The ladies toilets were disgusting! Out of 3 toilets one had no paper, and the large bin for putting the paper hand towels in was so full it was overflowing. This was at 11.30 am so I would say the toilets hadn't been check at all that morning they were a disgrace! I bought a birthday card and they didn't even put it in a bag even though it wasn't wrapped in cellaphane. We won't be going there again
