The Langton Arms in Harborough

We made a reservation here for a family Sunday lunch as we have dined here in the past and are soon to be relocating to the area again to live so we’re keen to reacquaint ourselves. Everyone in the family party chose to skip starters and go straight in for main courses with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots, seasonal greens and gravy Of either Roast Topside of Beef Roast Chicken Supreme Apricot & pork stuffing, bread sauce Roast Loin of Pork Burnt apple purée, crackling, apricot & pork stuffing Roast Trio of Meat Topside of beef, chicken supreme, roast loin of pork, burnt apple purée, crackling, we chose an additional couple of sides of cauliflower cheese to share then to save room for Dessert. Portion sizes of all dinners were ample without being generous but could have been bigger especially for the men in the party. The roasted vegetables As would have benefited from a longer cook and more of them on the plate. The roast potatoes needed longer too plus more seasoning and definitely more of them in the plate as they were quite stingy. The roast beef as tender but portion wise the amount l swerved was really small and the same was said my family members for the other meat choices. Gravy was tasty but it would have been nice to have been given an additional gravy jug for the table as that too was not m short supply on the plate Deserts were nice but the sticky toffee. pudding only came with ice cream and no option to swap for Custard. We Were not checked on during the meal until then end times if we needed anything which was a shame. All in all a nice much which considering we have been before we really wanted to love it sadly felt that this wasn’t as good as we’d had. Before. Not sure we will return considering our party size and cost.

Great lunch. Was slightly apprehensive about visiting after reading all the latest reviews but we visited today as a table of four and both the food and service were fantastic. We were well attended to, there’s a great menu to choose from and the food was delicious.

We went to Langton Arms for the first time on mothers Day It was very busy but a nice atmosphere we all had Sunday lunch which was nice but small portions the roast potatoes were quite small but we asked for some more and they gave us a dish full and didn’t charge us extra Not enough vegetables but the desserts were really nice and good size The staff were friendly and helping considering how busy it was we will definitely go again but maybe not on Mother’s Day

We had Lunch for Mother’s Day. And it was shocking. Quite frankly I’m not sure what has happened to The Langton Arms. The meal was not acceptable, tiny thin slices of beef, dry and cold Yorkshire puddings, watery gravy. Whilst the deserts were so huge you couldn’t finish them? We had the brownies which were dry and had a really cheap ice cream served alongside. Really really disappointed. I’ve supported this pub since the day it opened. I’ve taken Parents, people from work and clients. Christmas parties and New year. Never again. Needs a good clean too.

Very expensive if you drink wine. A busy day but this is not first time we have felt drinkers are to pay premium but get second class service. Even glass cleaning is more important! Do not use bar if nervous or ill bottles get thrown into bottle bin making very loud noise. Why do we drink here? Because of our visit to grave of mother.

Disappointed Mothers Day meal . Pricey, vegetable portion for 4 was small . Two meals had no crackling . No one asked us how our meals were nor if we wanted anymore drinks . Despite telling the waitress our frustration she chose to ignore the issues, left the dirty glasses on the table and didn’t ask what drinks we would like. Very disappointing and will not be going back for Mothers Day again .

We booked a group table for mother's day and what a disappointment that was!! Took 2 hours for us to get our mains. There was a limited menu for that day, which is fine and should make serving meals much more efficient. Not in this case. When the meals FINALLY arrived, we ordered 6 roast beef, and we're given the smallest dish of cauliflower cheese between us, which was bland and watery. The roast beef ranged from seared on outside and bleu in the middle to absolutely raw - we had to send it back. Roast potatoes were underseasoned and soggy, Yorkshire pudding was soggy. Gravy was watery and mash was dry and stale. If we hadn't been so hungry, and a family meal out we'd have sent it all back. The kids gnocchi was almost inedible. Puddings came much quicker and we're better than the main but worth nothing like the £33 for 2 courses being charged. Lots of staff about but not very attentive and not doing much. We had to keep asking for drinks and for the table to be cleared - really basic stuff!! Come on Langton Arms, what's going on??

Went with the family for daughter’s birthday. Put us in the garden room and were most welcoming, staff were friendly, attentive and faultless. Meals were fantastic. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. Thank you to all the staff for looking after us!

We booked for Sunday lunch as we had been here once before for a meal and it was very good. Just before leaving to go there, I checked others' reviews and saw that the most recent few were not good. My husband suggested cancelling, but I said we should go and judge for ourselves. I am so glad that we did. The staff were friendly and attentive but not in your face. The roast meal we had was tasty and hot. There was enough on the plate to spare a little room for dessert. Just the right portion size. We are definitely happy to book again for either Sunday lunch or an evening meal during the week.

Mediocre. Went for a family meal. Steak came lukewarm, my partners 8oz was tiny. Served without the pepper sauce, which came much later so food was even colder by then. Seabass was tiny, prob cut the potion in half. All food was served on cold plates which should not happen. My dessert was nice but family's brownie was served cold and was very small too. The staff were lovely but would not return for food, maybe a drink. Didn't complain as didn't want to ruin the birthday evening. Very over priced for what you got in portions and quality. Wont be returning.

Absolutely diabolical meal. We had 1-5 hr wait between courses and the food was bland. We complained and they apologised and took 25% off the bill. It was for a special occasion and so was very unfortunate. I have visited in the summer and had an amazing steak, what has changed? I will never, ever return.

What a disappointment particularly after a very satisfying experience the previous Sunday. Although the flavours were excellent the roast was spoilt by being cold, even the cauliflower cheese which was served in a skillet was cold. There is nothing worse than being served a meal on a cold plate. These things are not difficult to get right, you just need to care enough. I am tempted to try elsewhere next Sunday

Really not on their game, poor standard of food, service was at the same low level, shame as it was one of our favourite places to eat. Hope they sort it out soon.

Family get together overshadowed by poor food, bad service and amazing excuses. This place has gone down hill and I doubt we will be returning after a lack lustre response from their management. We used to eat here all the time. We were there for nearly 4 hours all in all. Slow service, staff seemed unsure and incompetent, had to ask 4 times to have a drinks order taken, food portions extremely poor on their festive menu which is dramatically over priced. Food bland and not cooked well, raw potatoes, 1 skimpy turkey slice portion wrapped around masses of stuffing, no veg except 1 carrot slither and 1 sliced sprout and 3 roast potatoes. Best of all we were told when questioning where our missing parsnips were (that are advertised on the menu) that they are out of season! In December , really???? Didn’t even bother to bring any after we asked for them. Made complaint via their website as email address seems illusive. Protracted response and reply saying they will speak with the team. Definitely not what it used to be which is disappointing. I wouldn’t waste your time of money.

We went for a Sunday lunch. The food was poor, small portions , under seasoned and generally sloppy. Service was slow and having raised our issues, nothing was done about it. The manager seemed to spend more time smoking outside than taking care of customers. I have emailed both the pub directly and the chain and not even a response. I went with my family for Boxing Day and must say it was one of the worst meals I’ve had in a restaurant.To start my Rillettes was tasteless my grandchild did not want his soup so I tried it that was tasteless and not very nice and all of our party tried it and we all agreed, then onto the main course which took 40 minutes to arrive steak has a £3 supplement so you expect it to be fairly good and my steak was half fat half meat two more had steak which was very fatty they had red wine jus they questioned was it jus or just gravy which again was not tasty add to that the chips and mash was not too warm,By the time we had our meal we were the only ones in the restaurant which makes me wonder why we were waiting at least 40 minutes for our main course was it because we complained about the soup?and if so that’s no way to run a kitchen.They did offer 25% off the bill which we took but would sooner have had a better meal.Please take look at my reviews you will see I’m an honest reviewer I tell it as it is that’s why I am a member of Tripadvisor. One point I will say is my Daughter and Son in Law went earlier in the year and they had steak and it was fabulous just goes to show.

We have visited this pub/restaurant on a few occasions but not since the lock down measures eased! Wish that we hadn't.Walked into a full restaurant, no tables removed in line with current regulations on social distancing.Thankfully we were shown to the garden room, which on arrival was less busy but again soon filled up.The food was average, nothing special, it has always been a bit hit and miss, now more miss than hit. As for the venue! It is tired and unclean! During the lock down other local venues used the time to deep clean and in a few cases paint and upgrade. Not so at the Langton Arms.Dust, dirt and cobwebs everywhere. I used the toilet and it was dirty and smelly like a city pub in the 80's.Won't be going back! The place needs strong management to deal with the basics.

This weekend we visited the Langton Arms for a family Sunday Lunch. As we have visited on many occasions pre Covid, we were hoping for more consistently good food & service. We were not let down and enjoyed some tasty, well presented food in a relaxed Sunday afternoon surrounding. All staff were attentive and the current rules were being adhered to. I was particularly pleased with my Nut roast choice for Sunday dinner along plenty of seasonal vegetables for sharing. Hopefully we will be back again soon!

My cousin and I decided to visit for my birthday lunch, and what a good choice it was...we decided to sit in the garden, as it was such a such a lovely day, and the garden was bursting with colour and so relaxing.The system for COVID was well planned and easy to follow if we needed to go inside.The Staff were very attentive and nothing to much trouble. We both decided to have the Gammon Ham, and this was a such good choice, Everything was cooked to perfection, and we both look forward to returning.

visited twice made to wait too long and on one occasion refused sandwiches after ordering and recieiving our drinlks.............we left. Menu is over priced and service is not personal or even focused upon making you feel happy. wonder where is the reason to visit this place.

Lovely recently refurbished country pub, with ample outdoor seating & safely spaced inside. Varied menu, the cornflake chicken was delicious, however the halloumi burger lacked something, maybe a better relish, also missing the extras that the meat burger had. We will return

Spontaneous weekday lunch trip out with our 14 month old baby. Very sensible COVID measures in place, extremely good service and delicious food. We will certainly be returning and have recommended to a number of friends already. Loved that a little place setting had been laid out for our baby with a highchair, reusable cutlery and a cute napkin.

A very Covid friendly environment, all procedures in place. Wonderful attentive service throughout lunch. Lovely menu and delicious food. Beautiful surroundings. my only comment would be for a veggie a Thai green curry isn’t really a Sunday lunch option. A vegetarian looks forward to a nut roast or something similar as well as a meat eater. Will return, but phone ahead next time to ask what the veggie option is.

Been before and the menu was interesting and different, no more and don't use COVID 19 as an excuse. They seem to be part of a group now which I'm sure they never were, maybe this is the issue. The table spacing was inadequate for COVID-19 inside hence we request an outside table which were well spaced. Everyone had pub food but no one said 'that was great', average and the service was very dis-organised, will not be returning, order ketchup and mayo for 5 people with chips got 1 pot of each!

I visited the Langton Arms with a few friends after a Sunday bike ride. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. Sensible Covid measure without going over the top. Lovely setting and delicious food. Sunday beef roast and the sticky toffee pudding were my highlights!
