Easter Sunday lunch , Carvery, I'm not a fussy eater but the potatoes were like leather and the stuffing like rubber. The meal was inedible. Good value still needs to achieve a basic level of quality. Sorry this did not.

Stopped here for a carvery on our way back to Bedford having been to Sheffield to see Torvill & Dean. Food was fabulous as always and the staff were excellent. Always a pleasure to come here as everyone is so welcoming and service is first class. Was served by Emma - a shout out also to Ewan and Rhys. Would recommend a visit - and they have Pedigree on tap. Sherry Trifle Cheesecake is also worth a try - very nice!

I ordered carvery for both myself and my husband, his was a meat carvery mine was a veggie, I ordered a spinach tart. Bar person said they would tell us when the tart was ready. After half an hour nobody had informed us and they appeared to be clearing the carvery. Asked if we had been forgotten and they apologised and said it would be a few minutes more. Told to make our way to the carvery and all the veg was completely dried up. Pointed this out and was told that only the mashed potatoes were ,but there was no mashed potato left hardly. There were sprouts, carrots all dried up and peas were like bullets. I asked for a refund. Got to the till and was left waiting didn’t know what for. Manager had to do the refund. Manager put as reason for refund that I had changed my mind!!!! I took offence at this. She said she didn’t know the details and would need to investigate! She said she was very sorry but didn’t sound sorry at all. We are starving now, this was supposed to be a treat for us and we are now searching for a Chinese takeaway. We are away from home and this meal was as I said supposed to be a treat. Disappointed doesn’t really cover it.

Bit of a mixed bag at our last visit to The Elms. It was Mothering Sunday, so we knew it was going to be a busy one. We had no issues with waiting around. The wait was long, but the front of house staff were great the whole way through. They kept us informed and kept apologising. Really, there was no need, but it was appreciated. That's where the good parts end! The food was awful. The kids burger was burnt to a crisp, as was my older daughters Cowboy burger. My chicken was overcooked and simply not good. The bacon crumbled into a dust, it was that well cooked. Our Nacho starter came out burnt - How on earth you burn nachos, I have no idea. My daughters mozzarella bites were tiny and not nice at all. After waiting 2 hours for food, we expected it to at least be worth the wait. Unfortunately not. May I suggest you get chefs that are capable of running busy kitchens, especially for these known busy days. This is our second visit in recent times and the first was much better. Unfortunately, due to this poor experience, we will not be coming back. I have much better places to spend £130. It's a shame as the staff out front were fabulous.

Had high hopes for a lovely Mother’s Day meal at The Elms, but it was a huge disappointment. The service was slow, and staff seemed overwhelmed despite the event being pre-booked. Food took ages to arrive, and when it did, it was lukewarm and bland. Portions were smaller than expected, especially given the price. To make matters worse, we were barely checked on, and getting anyone’s attention was a challenge. It felt like they’d taken on more bookings than they could handle, which really affected the experience. Definitely not the special treat we were hoping for. Wouldn’t rush back.

Smallest potion I have ever received at any carvery anywhere and I've been to dozens. My gammon was sliced so thinly I could literally see through it, I've had more meat from a slice of wafer thin ham. Despite our plates having less meat on them than you would expect to find in a cheap supermarket sandwich and one of our drinks being a shandy, two plates and two drinks came out at £40. The fact the place will charge you more for the same alleged meal depending on the day tells you everything about this business is a shameless cash grab. I've had disappointing dinners before, but i left here feeling like I'd been stolen from.

If I could give 10 stars I would, given it is mother's day weekend and talking to the bar staff, 2 staff have had to call on sick due to personal problems. A lot of customers are complaining over waiting slightly too long (even after the bar staff telling us customers before ordering that there is a delay) they have all been very polite and apologetic about it... we have all had drinks and waited for the food and got a refund for the carvery in exchange for a meal instead. I would not recommend The Elms to anyone. As a party of 2 we were sat for an hour and a half for just our starters. Originally we spent £45 on two drinks, two starters and two mains however after two hours our mains had not arrived. We were given a refund for our mains and told this was not the usual standard for the restaurant. It was very messy and whilst the staff were lovely and very understanding for the most part, it felt as if they didn’t know their own roles.

We were so pleased we could get a booking for a table of 5 on the day as it was a last minute decision to go out to eat. We were promptly greeted and taken to our table. We ordered a burger and 4 carvery’s along with drinks. Reasonable value for money and the burger was great. Carvery choice of meat was fantastic and catered for all our choices. The choice of vegetables was good although some broccoli on offer would have benefited us. The location of the gravy and sauces should have been pointed out or sign posted as we struggled to find them and had to ask, no biggy just being honest. The roast potatoes were bang on! Service of the carvery was satisfactory, had to wait for a chef to come out to serve, probably only a couple of minutes but longer than I would have expected.

Walked in tonight at 5pm to find not one, but all three meats had dry tiny pieces of meat left and not a sight of fresh meat could be seen. They were all the size of block of cheese, at home you would probably make a soup or some sandwiches out of them, not demand a paying customer eats it because of your margins. I asked the woman if she could bring some actual fresh food not the reminiscence of the once mighty carcass that sat wanting to put it's self in the bin and she said " No " The point is, and it's only rubbish staff at carveries that do this, don't ask me to come into your establishment and eat stale food, it would be like going into maccies and them saying " na you can eat that big Mac that's been under the heat lamp for an hour first"

Lovely place. Shame about other things! Two mains ordered, one had missing salad and other came with chips when skin on fries ordered. Took a while to receive correct items. Sundae came in an undersized glass which meant contents piled very high with no saucer and a teaspoon. With each spooning items fell off on to table and had no serviette. Sundae spoon came with pot of tea which had no lid on it and was told they'd ran out of lids! Coffee machine not working. Each time we needed to raise these issues the queues were so long and with 2 staff on on a Saturday was not enough and one looked as tho she was being trained.

Party of 8 went to the elms for my birthday meal. 6 of us ordered a carvery. Absolutely horrid, dry meat, vegetables had been left out for ages and were soggy, no turkey left and food was lukewarm at best. Several hours after, I came down with food poisoning. I found out the following day another 2 in our party had also fallen ill overnight. So I’ve spent my entire birthday poorly in bed. No staff to flag down, let alone check on tables. No cutlery, we had to get up to find someone to ask for it, drinks missing from our orders and no one around to speak to. Safe to say we will not be returning, hands down the worst carvery we’ve ever had. The rest of the party agreed the food was dreadful.

The table we were allocated was in a very bright area of the pub adjacent to the carvery serving area. This was OK until a family of children started running up & down and playing in the area in front of the entrance to the kitchen & carvery which I thought had health & safety issues with servers & diners carrying hot food. Although I understand you cannot be directly responsible for the children's behaviour, I would have expected a member of staff to approach their parents to ask them to control the kids. We decided to move to a quieter are of the pub where we enjoyed our meal although this took a long time to be served.

It's a carvery and it would seem from some comments that there is an expectation of 5 star service like a Kempinski or Hyatt. It's a carvery, folks. At carveries, the food sits out under heat lamps and so food that should be soft tends to be hard and food that should be crisp and hard tend to be soft. No idea why this is the case, but even Sir Isaac Newton knew this. It's a perfectly acceptable carvery. If carveries aren't your thing, then there seem to be several hundred further options on the menu. Pretty much every pub food staple is on offer here. The service is actually very good and the young staff were friendly, engaging and helpful. Of course, for a family place, you are going to have young people running around screaming and knocking things over. These are the mums and dads; the kids are no trouble, really. Friendly decent place. It's not going to be in the Michelin Guide this year, but it's cheap food at good prices: and that makes it a value place. I'll be back.

We had set out to try the Shires Inn at Peatling Parva but by the time we found it, the car park was full, so we set off towards Lutterworth and as we were getting quite hungry decided to take a look in the Elms. The man on the door was very polite (the duty manager I think) and we sat at a table and were pleased we weren’t crammed in as we are still being careful in respect of Covid. I went up to the bar and was a little disappointed there were only two real ales available, neither of which were my go to brew. I reluctantly ordered a pint of Pedigree but to my surprise, the beer was in tip top condition and at a cooler temperature, just the way I like a pint. It was a shame I couldn’t have a second pint as I was driving. 😞 The barman was a lovely guy, (Helen thought he looked like he played in a ZZ Top tribute band!) and he helped establish that the Chicken and Bacon salad was Lactose free. Even before I ordered he had asked if there were any allergies/intolerances, which was very comforting. As for me, I couldn't make my mind up between fish and chips or the small mixed grill so asked the barman what he thought I should order. ‘Mixed grill, every time’ he said and so that is what I ordered. I guess we waited fifteen to twenty minutes before we got our order and during that time a waitress came up and made sure we had all the condiments we would like with our meals. This is something else I appreciated as on so many occasions in other venues, they ask after the meal has been put on the table and you either wait ten minutes before starting, whilst they find the mustard, or eat half the meal without it. I don’t know how big the large mixed grill is, but the medium was more than enough for me and I couldn’t really fault it. As for Helen’s salad, she thought it was lovely and was probably helped by the fact she felt confident the meal was Lactose free. I can’t tell you how much that means to her, or me, for that matter. I went to the gents before leaving and my only slightly negative thoughts of the visit was that there was a bit of a lack of attention in keeping the top edge of the tiles and the pipe work below free of dust and dirt at the urinals. Sorry, I’m being very critical here, but as my father always said, judge the cleanliness of the kitchen by the state of the toilets. So overall a great visit and we have decided to go back again tomorrow for lunch after our shop in the local Waitrose and hopefully a couple of pints for me this time as Helen will be driving!

We visited today (22.12.2024). We had booked a table online 1 week in advance for 11 - for a Xmas catchup with family. We were greeted with nobody.. waited to be seated with small kids.. to be told the table had been cancelled by the online farmhouse inns team - even after we confirmed our booking with the place on the phone a few days before. We eventually got a table after a member of management said "i had to move some tables around to accommodate you all".. our food came out incorrectly with a member if my family who is vegan did not receive the correct food content as the vegan chilli clearly advertised on the menu, to which they served with just initially cheese.. they then changed for another plate of nachos with sauces .. And then 3rd time round came out correctly. We were told we have a 2 hour time limit on the table as they were busy due to Xmas bookings.. we said we understood even thougg we had booked for the extra 30 mins which is all we needed.. we said we would leave but wanted to carry on having some more drinks .. to which the staff member said we HAVE to leave and give up our table and they were unsure if they could accommodate drinks for us somewhere else. We ended up staying on the table after being told 'we have had to move other people and tables around to accommodate you" the person serving our food was great.. the member of management was sorry to say very rude, not very accommodating and was clearly annoyed when the vegan food was / had to be changed. I always leave reviews for great service working in retail myself.. but I felt today was a terrible experience for us and understand the importance of service and customer experience.. we understood and understand it's a busy time of year but my gosh we were overwhelmed with the responses we got them questioned.. we remained patient and calm and understood it's a busy weekend.. we spent some decent money in there my came to £230 .. food when correct and served was very good on a plus. Sorry team Lutterworth FarmhouseInns.. but we told you we were coming and travelling from Northampton, Leicester and MK.. and our expected duration of stay, but you let us down massively. Unacceptable sorry. My booking reference; DMN - 16885494540

Love this place during their quiet periods to relax and eat without rushing within the atmosphere of it all.

Visited Lutterworth for a family cremation..... unfortunately I attended two! The carvery at The Elms looked like it had been cooked and cremated by Lucifer himself several hours earlier. The girl behind the bar needed to go on a customer care training course. Service gets two stars only for the rest of the staff. Unfortunate.

Dry and tasteless carvery, shabby atmosphere and staff acting like they didn’t want to be there, management didn’t want to hear any of my comments. Will not be returning whilst under the same manager. Such a shame

The carvery was very dry and tasted like it had been sitting around all day! The drinks are VERY expensive - £10 for a pint of bitter and a small wine!

Went on mothers day, wasn't informed when booking it was a set menu and was surprised to find out it was £36 pp. Carvery was nothing special, disappointing really.

One of the best in the country. The kitchen is quick, and very rarely gets anything wrong. The staff in general are nice and the building itself is beautiful. It's a little more expensive than the ones in the city, but it's worth it to keep this place open and trading.

Wow, amazing food, all freshly cooked, staff were brilliant. I had pate starter which was a meal on its own, followed by the rodeo burger which was amazing, the wife had the goat cheese and tomato tartlet and the kellogs kicking burger, never tasted a burger like it, would definitely recommend and will be returning in the not too distant future, thank you.

This is a nice pub. great value and friendly staff and locals. Dog friendly too, most of the dogs were perfectly well behaved too. One costumer let things down though, their Yorkshire Terrier was walking around the pub off lead and not 100% well behaved.
