The Fox and Hounds in Harborough

Had lunch here, we were a little early but had a good welcome and soon served with coffees. The menu promised good pub grub. The fish dishes were excellent, but my lasagne was dry and very burnt at the edges. Unfortunately, the puddings did not quite hit the spot, my warmed lemon tart was cold and hard, raspberry sorbet was very good. The fruit crumble was more crumble with little fruit. The service was excellent as were the facilities.

We had a really pleasant Saturday lunch as a group of friends. Food was good, staff attentive, and the atmosphere excellent for a get together. Can't wait to visit again.

It was quiet when we were there. Beautiful pub and food was exceptional. Will call again if we are over that side of the shire. Definitely worth a visit!

It was Sunday, so I fancied a roast and oh wow! What a fabulous lunch it was. I've got to say it was one of the best pub roasts I've had. Plenty of everything, the beef was cooked to perfection for me and nothing could've been better. We'll done everyone. Will definitely be coming back.

Visited with three mates last Wednesday evening. Very warm welcome at the bar and were told there might be a wait for food. We were seated and our order was taken about 10 minutes later. Two fish and chips, a fish pie and a Chicken and Chorizo Pappardelle which one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. Everyone was very pleased with their meal and impressed with the visit. Highly recommended.

Came across this pub on a journey from Peterborough to Leicester. We were looking for lunch. What a beautiful village pub/restaurant! Lovely welcoming staff and incredible tasty food with generous portions! Couldn’t fault anything lovely 😻

We visited for lunch today for the first time at this venue. Lovely refurbishment, great food and drinks wonderful attentive staff who went out of their way to provide Eton mess which was delicious. Plus our dog is welcome which is always a bonus. Will return soon.

Friendly and welcoming local. Clearly the heart of the village community. Limited but tasty lunchtime menu.

Popped in a few weeks ago with my partner. They had a lovely selection of fresh baked cakes and brownies. Various drink options and the Staff were more than welcoming and a pleasure to conversate with. They also have outdoor seating.

The coffee was good, breakfast good and friendly staff. Packed a little atmosphere inside as we were the only people seated, but we will definitely visit again and recommend to others.

Perfect for a spot of food and drink while cycling, great staff.

Late on a Bank Holiday afternoon, running low on food and liquid to complete my bicycle tour, then there it was - an open pub. I was prepared to make do with crisps, but to my delight there was a selection of baked treats on offer. The raspberry and lemon shortbread was delicious and just the boost I needed.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. I popped in on a Sunday for a quick coffee and ended up staying for longer than planned. The atmosphere when I walked in was so friendly and welcoming, to myself and the dog and the staff were all lovely. The food looked and smelt delicious, and the cakes were too tempting to resist. Will define returning in the future!

12/3/2022 Re-opened under new management (who previously ran Cafe Ventoux). Run by Jonny and Teresa and a lovely friendly team. A lovely setting and a good place to start or end a country walk. Currently offering coffees, teas, hot chocolate, cakes and a licensed bar but the full kitchen will be open soon. A great place to meet friends. Warm atmosphere, dogs and children welcome.

Lovely experience and exceptionally friendly and welcoming bar staff. Highly recommend. Just waiting for them to have the kitchen delivered to go for a meal which I'm certain will be excellent also after eating at the establishment they had before .

Passed the pub today (31st May 2019) now closed with building work in progress. Not sure whether this is being refurbished or being converted into residential accommodation.

Drove out here after seeing the reviews to have lunch and nobody opened up or answering the phone. Looks like was open last night as money and glasses on the bar so obviously not worth a trip out there as they can’t be bothered to open on a Saturday at the time stared ! Disappointing

Unfortunately not the same lovely local that I remember growing up. The original features have been removed leaving behind a small bar area with little casual seating. The pub was always warm & inviting but having the character removed has left behind a generic eatery with very little atmosphere or character. Sign of the times maybe. On the positive the food was alright but some of our party were less than impressed.

We visited this pub with friends this week and were, sadly, disappointed with our visit.The food we ordered - fish and chips and pork belly was fine, but sadly some of the choices in the main menu were unavailable and in particular the dessert choices were poor - many of the dishes advertised were no longer available.The worst thing was that there was NO coffee available afterwards and we felt quite short changed by the whole experience.The pub was also very quiet for a Friday which made us feel that locally this pub was not as popular ad maybe it should have been.Our waitress was excellent as clearly embarrassed about the changes on the menu about which she could do nothing

Good service and a great venison Berger

Had pan fried meatballs which were served to perfection. My partner had the salmon fish cakes for starters which were equally as good, shell on muscles, king prawns and smoked salmon in a white wine sauce, crispy pork belly with cabbage and bacon for mains which was out of this world. Service was fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for great food and top service!!

Have had many meals here. Most of them ok to good. But this last time!! Starter was barely warm - I let this pass. I do not like to complain .Ordered steak and kidney pie served with chips and a "medley of fresh vegetables."Serving plate was cold. My medley of fresh vegetables consisted of chips with a couple of sprigs of broccoli on top. Took the lid off my pie and inside the meat was almost cold. This struck me as not only unpleasant but a bit risky. This time I did complain. The young lady apologised and took it away to reheat it. Yes it came back piping hot but the meal was spoiled .Perhaps they were short of staff - it looked as if there was just one (very young) man in the kitchen and two (very young ) girls running everything else between themVery disappointing!

We had a beautifully cooked and presented meal meal last night. The two of us enjoyed three courses each and a bottle of wine for £70 which was a reasonable price considering the high quality food. We loved the seasonal menu, relaxed atmosphere and the wood burning stove gave a homely feel to the dining room. The front of house staff are young, friendly, enthusiastic and efficient. We had heard good things about the place but never been before. Will definitely go again.

Had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch. Food was very nice, the dessert was delicious and of a sensible size. Service was also very good, we were looked after from the moment we arrived till the moment we left.

Stef and his team recently produced a beautiful and tasty outside buffet for our wedding reception. We discussed beforehand a menu tailored to our needs. This was delivered fresh, on time and just as ordered..Furthermore the team were on hand to clear .Very nice food, with a modern twist, and nothing was too much trouble!

I was a little disappointed we had to wait an hour for our food and there was only us and 1 other table of two people the lady who was serving did say after 30 mins there was a mix up how you have a mix up with two tables totalling 5 people we waited another 30 mins and the food we had was very good. The other thing that let us down was we had bottle of prosecco which came with the bucket very nice but we noticed its the same one as you can get in asda which was £6 and we were charged £18 which I know you do have a mark up but not on a bottle you can get from asda. Like i said the food was very good but the waiting time was unacceptable

When calling up to make a reservation, despite being extremely busy they pencilled a table for two in at 7.30 pm. As I arrived I took note of the traditional yet slightly modern interior and warm atmosphere, 'everyone seemed to be having a good time'. The waitress showed us to our table and proceeded to take drink orders before returning to take our food choices. I opted for the sea bass with accompanying sides and my friend went with the steak and chips, both meals where cooked well with appealing presentations. The sea bass had a nice crisp underneath and moist inside, the potato and leek mix looked great but was slightly too dense, however the white sauce too the edge off. We then tried the desserts, I choose the white chocolate brownie and my friend went for the cheesecake, both very well prepared and presented. The brownie cut well and with the meted chocolate overhead tasted even better, the ice-cream allowed instant cooling before taking a bite. Special mention to all the waitresses attitudes and talkative nature, this makes or breaks a good experience, so thank you.

Five of us had a meal here tonight. 4 of the meals were fine but mine was far from good. I had chosen the haddock and chips - the chips were pale, soggy and luke warm and the batter on the fish was soggy too. The chips looked as though they were meant to be ‘twice cooked’ but they hadn’t been cooked the second time. I did tell the waitress but apart from her saying that she would tell the chef I had no apology of any sort. In spite of being local I won’t be eating here again.

Great little place with excellent food and beer. Travelling past on the main road we turned off on the off=chance of finding a nice pub. How lucky we were. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They would benefit greatly from a sign on the main road. Recommended.

I’ve been coming here for almost 18 months and have never had a bad meal. The food is fresh and tasty and the menu caters for all. This weeks steak night was two rumps for £16. The steak looked more like a fillet... full of taste and no fat at all. Overall great value and great food, highly recommended!!!

I've been here a few times now and usually it's pretty good. However, last nights meal wasn't up to the pub's usual standard.

Aboloutly brilliant meal . Wednesday night steak night and for £8 the best steak meal I've eaten for ages. The quality and quantity of the meal out does any others i've eaten in recent years and probobly paid double for. I'm a fussy one and hate frozen chips and veg etc. but these beautiful homemade chips were great . We both had a sweet which was really good too. Definatly be back to try some other dishes off the great looking menu. Also the staff were frienly and attentive. Nice one Fox and Hounds

Popped in here for an impromptu meal..and couldn't have been made more welcome. It started snowing heavily whilst we were there..and the hosts did everything possible to keep us entertained whilst we waited for a taxi. Fabulous food...fabulous surroundings..fabulous find! Thank you!

I stopped here for lunch on a Thursday, we were the first people in as it had just opened. The young lady that served us was very nice, friendly and helpful. I ordered the fish and chips. It was very nicely presented and the pub itself was quite nice. The food was quite nice, not great but not at all bad either. I should imagine in the evening its a very pleasant and vibrant atmosphere.

Called in for a late Saturday dinner. Small (40 ish) covers pub restaurant. Looked newly refurbished, could perhaps do with some soft furnishings to absorb the slightly noisy group next to us once they had a couple of drinks!

Called in on a Thursday night. Lucky to get in as usually fully booked. Food was great, whitebait to start followed by beef and ale pie which was delicious. £10 unlimited Prosecco night was good too! Steak night Wednesday and fish a chip night Friday. Great pub, great food, great service.

Nos hospedamos en un almuerzo de fiesta y el pub tenía todo bien organizado. habíamos elegido nuestras opciones de comida antes y tenía una buena selección de platos a elegir. Las comidas eran todo fresco y todo lo que había era delicioso e imaginación sirve (cuidado enormes porciones de queso y galletas, pero muy bueno! ). Algunas personas cambiaron las mesas entre campos y aunque era un poco pequeña para ello funcionó, y el personal se lo llevó todo en su calma! Todo el personal era muy amable y atento. Había un ambiente encantador y si no vivo tan lejos sin duda volveremos.

Bien establecidos pub con agradable bar y zona de restaurante. Bar bien surtido y la cerveza aceptable.

Llegamos tarde, eficiente y amable saludo. Una buena opción para las bebidas, y la comida era bien servido. Los aperitivos y platos principales eran buenas aparte de brécol muy pasada. Los postres fueron un poco decepcionantes, falta de Ng en sabor, especialmente la tarta de limón. Por estar un poco corrientes cocina, sería bienvenido si el clima era más cálido.

Aunque no es el uso habitual de esta hermosa finalidad pub/restaurante, Stef y Emily fueron lo bastante amables como para dejarnos llevar por una noche para mi 40 cumpleaños, con música, baile y júbilo! enmascarada Nuestros huéspedes nos encantó la ubicación y se sentía muy relajado para mezclar y divertirse. A su llegada el equipo sirve a todo el mundo con burbujas y la comida era relajado pero fantástico! Mucho que decir sobre este lugar. Nos sentimos bendecidos de tener en nuestra puerta. Muchas gracias. Altamente recomendado!

Haber oído cosas buenas sobre el Fox and Hounds, estaba deseando a mi visita. Por desgracia no me impresionó. La decoración interior ha tenido todo estilo y ambiente diseñado. La cerveza estaba en mal estado y se sirve sin amor. Las opciones de menú para vegetarianos como yo era mínimo y poco imaginativo (Frijoles y chaqueta. No volveré y no se encomiaba a otros - hay opciones mucho mejores en las inmediaciones.

Me habían recomendado El Fox and Hounds a un amigo así la esperanza de que ella no lo decepcionará. Siendo semana de vacaciones leicester's el restaurante era inusualmente vacío pero tomé la precaución de reserva de todos modos. El menú tenía una excelente variedad para todos los gustos creo yo y no nos decepcionó con nuestros platos principales de curry verde tailandés y picante ensalada de pollo.

We came here as a table of 7 last night for an early dinner. The lady who looked after us was incredibly friendly and helpful and made sure to keep checking we had enough drinks etc. The food was exceptional and it is definitely worth opting for the daily specials. I had the seafood linguine, which was delicious. The desserts are all clearly freshly prepared and equally amazing. Prices are also very reasonable for the quality and the atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend this pub and will definitely be returning!

We have had our family Christmas meal here twice, the works Christmas party, and visit frequently. In this area it is definitely the best food at the right price with lovely staff. You really can't fault them.

I booked a table 2 weeks in advance and I would advise to book, as there is only a few tables available. I had the Friday special of fish & chips with tartar sauce and mushy peas, the fish was tasty and served really quickly. The food is great and speed of service is quick, the only negative is the price, a bit more expensive than other pubs but if that is not a problem for you than come for great food.

Visited with 2 friends and had not booked. Despite some initial concern, they eventually offered us a table that had to be free by 8:30pm, we had arrived just after 6:15ish. Once seated service was prompt and attentive without being overly intrusive. We ordered a bottle of red £13.95, bottle of Magners £3.50 and a pint of moretti £4.50. Mains were two scampis, that came with chips and salad, chicken special on pasta, quite spicy and haddock and chips. All food was well cooked and presented. we then followed this dessert - eton mess, pannacotta, white chocolate brownie and cheesecake. All superb, if a little small in my mind.I suppose my only issue with this place is size, it is not a pub, but small for a restaurant. True everything was very good and this should have been a 5, had we not had the erm and ah about having a table when the next occupants were not due for over 2 hours. Highly recommended though.
