The pub from the outside looked like it needed some attention appearing very run down but internally we really liked it. Homely, welcoming and Maggie the dog sat by the television in old position, this pub has got bags of potential... My kind of pub but sadly they were not serving food. We ended up having some drinks and a packet of crisps instead. They have a games room with a pool table and a couple of televisions and a nice garden and all this pub needs is an outdoor lick of paint. We enjoyed our visit. Visited 23rd March 2024

We were holidaying on a narrow boat and walked up to the Bell inn, but being a Sunday they had stopped serving food, but the landlady said we could order in take away and we could eat it in the pub, she even heated up plates and provided spoons and forks. Fabulous service, love local people and a good choice of drinks

On an unplanned stop, we thought we would give the bell inn a try, we was vastly impressed, the restaurant was nice, for a pub, the menu was limited with the one veg meal. But wow was I impressed with the food, was top stuff. NO lets take it out of the freezer, it was properly cooked, interesting, and very tasty, Must go again, just hope you have the same Chef.

As a village resident, our local pub is better than it has been for at least 20 years! Sean & Dan have transformed the place, redecorated, and greatly improved the beer garden. Most importantly, they are friendly and welcoming, and the food is very good with generous portions. A group of walkers from Market Harborough were impressed with the excellent lunch.

My girlfriend and I have visited the Bell Inn twice this week. We were staying in the village looking after family pets so decided to visit for dinner. We booked a table on both occasions, (last night was a bit last minute) but the place is spotless, covid check in very easy, made to feel welcome too. The food and drink were lovely, and reasonably priced. The pub has had a bit of an up and down reputation over the years, but despite the tough times due to lockdowns etc, the guys who run it now have done a fantastic job making it the friendly welcoming local pub that it should be. Hope to come back at some point in the not too distant future. Thank you.

Decided to stop here on the way home-wish we had taken a different route!!! Restaurant was quiet when we arrived. There were 4 in our party, 2 ordered jacket potatoes, 1 ordered a burger and 1 ordered a cottage pie. We also ordered 4 cokes, a portion of onion rings and cheeses chips. We waited over 50 minutes for our food to arrive and the 4 cokes were all flat!! Cottage pie was very good, and the 2 jacket potatoes were OK (had to ask for extra butter) the burger was poor (the cheese we paid extra for was grated cheddar which didn't melt as burger was luke warm, and not seasoned. The worst part...onion rings swimming in grease, cheesy chips cooked in old oil, with old fried food bits and burnt oil taste, and a portion of mushy peas that came with a meal, was basically pea soup... mentioned to gentlemen behind bar on leaving, after paying in full.

I brought a groupon to use here and made a reservation. When I turned up with family who had traveled a long way for a Sunday roast, we told the very rude man at the bar we had a groupon and he asked if I’d printed it. I explained I hadn’t and didn’t have a printer and no where in the booking or when I made a reservation did it state only paper copies were accepted. He didn’t want to help no matter whAt just said well we couldn’t use the voucher then. We asked for the manager who was not in then for next in charge and he said he was in charge ( acting manager) He then gave us a number for the manager but told couldn’t call until after 4. When I stated that it doesn’t say to print in he was very rude and standoffish and said basically it’s not his problem and I shouldn’t tellHim what to do. I explained that just letting customers know would be a good idea and he got very nasty and told us to leave. For no reason!!! We then called the number outside and he answered the phone and his exact words were “ I told you to ring after 4 when I kicked you out “ Will never visit again and I will fight for a refund. I’m so upset and disgusted at his behaviour and attitude.

For some reason this pub seems to have two tripadvisor pages. Maybe hoping that some people don’t realise and see some of the terrible reviews it has. I’ve posted my review on their other page so please do read that one. To summarise this is probably the worst place I’ve ever visited with an incredibly rude arrogant little man behind the bar claiming to be in charge. Hospitality certainly doesn’t exist at this pub.

My wife and I visited The Bell today for the first time for some Sunday lunch. It’ll certainly be the first and last visit. We almost walked out on arrival when we were pretty much ignored on arrival and the place was not welcoming. The food was poor to say the least and the service was just as bad. To top it all we witnessed a young couple being almost driven to tears by the rude and obnoxious man behind the bar. He was very aggressive and was more interested in drinking with the locals at the bar. I don’t comment on here very much but would urge people not to visit this establishment.

We were staying at an AirBnB nearby and popped in for food. Very much a locals pub, but friendly, welcoming locals! Great Landlord, a welcoming host. Small’pub’ menu, most things with chips. I had fish and chips, huge, crispy tasty fish and my husband had scampi and chips, again a large portion. We both had peas in little cardboard type containers!!! The pub is basic at best and we wouldn’t rush back but wouldn’t avoid either.

On arrival we discovered the pub had new landlords but needn’t have worried as they were very welcoming and the pub had a great atmosphere, always a good sign when the locals are supportive. The Sunday meal proved to be excellent, fresh vegetables cooked to perfection and the beef ( slow cooked in red wine ) was so moist and delicious. Good old fashioned steamed treacle was the finishing touch. We would recommended and will come again.( also for the excellent beer )

Nice friendly barman and friendly locals. Went into restaurant and dinner came with everything on the plate. It would have been nice to have gravy separately so I could put plenty on. Good portion size, but everything was barely warm apart from very hot roast potatoes. Pudding was nice, but most people would like custard with a hot pudding.there wasn't any, and that was at 2pm!!! Considering it was advertised as festive, the only festive thing was the pigs in blankets, we got 3, full size sausages, so that was good.

Really enjoyed the Sunday Roast at the Bell Inn today - quality meats & veg and large portions, not a huge choice but that did not matter. We walked in to the bar area to confirm our booking and we couldn't get to the bar as it was 'occupied ' by a collection of locals who were effing and blinding and generally behaving like oiks. It took an age for someone to 'greet' is and show us to our table. The dining area was pretty dark and dingy and the menu was very 'under whelming'. Only one other table was occupied at 8pm on a Thursday. We asked for more time to decide and the waitress practically threw her order pad on the table and disappeared and didn't return. We decided against eating, paid for our drinks and went to eat elsewhere. A really dismal place - very disappointing that we didn't get chance to eat due to poor service.

Michelle and Neville have only managed the pub for a few months, but they have transformed both the bar and restaurant. The place has stopped becoming a morgue as it is now busy. Their years of experience in the trade has created a warm welcoming atmosphere. The quality of the food has improved tremendously and Neville has on occasions created special fat free meals for my wife. Perhaps they could provide a greater choice of mains, but this may improve in time. They do a take-away menu as well.

I've seldom had a worse meal in a pub. I ordered the beef madras. What came was a dish of dried out rice with some dry chunks of beef. This was accompanied by Naan bread which had been warmed until it became a crispbread. My friend fared little better. The batter on her fish was a deep brown colour, it was overcooked, dry and had a slightly burnt taste. Her 'mushy peas' were just crushed up garden peas - not the same thing at all. The waiter did ask how it was, I requested some of the sauce my beef chunks should have been in. What arrived was, I think, some curry powder mixed with milk and water and heated in the microwave. I poured the fairly unpleasant mixture over my rice, but in the end I just have up and left it. My friend said the barman asked how the food was and she told him. No one offered us a refund. Go somewhere else.

Nice to have the golden retrievers in the pub being very social and making it a relaxing atmosphere. The pub was very busy with the local Armageddon crew and it made it a fun lively atmosphere. I was staying with a friend in market harborough at the time and me and my girlfriend had tickets to see a show down at Kilworth house (also a recommendation) when we happened across this lovely little pub on our way, seeing as we had time to kill we stopped and had a drink. We were greeted by a very smiley and friendly young man, who even shared jokes with us and made us feel really comfortable! The locals were also friendly and made conversation rather than giving us the cold shoulder which I've found is common in other establishments! The bartender told us of all the offers on food which seemed too good to be true, so we decided to come back on the Sunday and find out for ourselves! This time we were greeted by an equally friendly and smiley woman who made sure everything was perfect for us and gave us lots of attention and we noticed she did the same for all the other customers who came in! We ordered our food, I had a Beef Sunday lunch and my girlfriend had the chicken Sunday lunch, both only £5 each, we were skeptical, but it came at a modest speed, it had definitely been made fresh and it was delicious, better than my mum's Sunday roast! Such an incredible, substantial meal for such a ridiculously good price!Overall we felt extremely welcome, well fed, well watered and still walked away with a full pocket! If anyone has bothered to read my ramblings, give it a try!

Six of us had a "just what we wanted" light lunch at this small, characterful cafe, tucked into one of Market Harborough's historic "yards". Two had the excellent tomato and basil soup, served with a ciabatta roll; two had a delicious ciabatta roll (one gluten free) with cream cheese, figs with a touch of honey and pistachio nuts; one had a bacon-filled ciabatta roll and one had a fruit scone. We all enjoyed our lunch, and the two staff were very helpful. We thought we had made a very good choice out of the numerous options in the town and would definitely go again.
