Excellent service from Ruth (as always!!) and yummy food - a lovely way to spend Bank Holiday Monday! We had Lamb Shank Shepherds Pie and Chicken Leek and Cheese Pie from the special menu - we would definitely recommend! Yum!

Great pub and lovely food. Had a great Sunday lunch with good service. The dog friendly area is really good too and a lovely garden out the back.

Family of 8 for Mothers Day lunch, and we had a wonderful time. All the meals were hot to table, and the food was delicious. The service we received was great & we were ably served by Luke who did a great job throughout.

Drove up from London yesterday to have dinner here. My personal experience was the Steak was absolutely amazing. Whoever made my steak definitely knows how to make it perfectly. The atmosphere and the interior design of the building is really nice and to put the cherry on the cake, it's always nice when the men's bathroom is clean, which it was. Great place to eat. See you guys soon.

The squid starter wasn't very hot. 2 x steak and ale pie - was okay - but had tummy pains and upset tummy later in the night, so suspect it was something i ate.

Table of 7 on Sunday. Arrived when the restaurant was empty. Everything started well. Waitress was very nice and the starters were lovely. Unfortunately we then waited 50 minutes for our mains. Then only the childrens meals arrived, a further 15 minites for the rest of the meals to reach our table. We were told 5 more minutes 3 times and then on the final time, 'we are sorry the kitchen ran out of roast potatoes so we were waiting for them'. When the meals finally arrived, they were luke warm, the potatos were leathery and clearly had been sat under a hot light for quite some time. Not the fresh roasties we were all expecting at this point!! We ordered a side of honey and mustard chipolatas, we got a bowl of plain richmond sausages, when i questioned it, I was told they were cooked in the sauce. Funny that because they were dry and there wasnt a hint of flavour in sight! Manager dealt with the complaint adequately and ammendments were made to the bill. Unfortunately it was a shocking experience and not one I would endeavour to repeat.

Waited 25 minutes today for our order to be taken to no avail, we then decided to leave! There were only 2 other tables that were occupied. We went down the road to the greenking at Premier inn and were served within 5 minutes

Great Service. Lovely pub / restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Sunday Lunch. Luke who served us was engaging, friendly, helpful and suitably attentive without been intrusive. However, I felt overall the food did not live up to the ‘billing’ of the setting (or the service). Mediocre, moderately ‘warm’ but not hot, roast dinner. And my pudding Bakewell tart was very disappointing….sort of ‘heated up’ in a microwave which made the pastry texture very odd and the rest of it (frangipane) was cold. Barely warm custard. I won’t be eating there again. I’m awarding 3 stars overall because of the mediocre food.

The service was a little slow but saying that the place was full and only a few serving so they were all doing a good job. We were served by Lottie who was an absolute delight! I had the small Sunday lunch and my partner had the regular size. Mine was £8 which was amazing value, the regular was £14.95 (I think!) but again great value considering some places now charge over the £20 mark and have been nowhere near as nice as this. The food was fabulous, every bit of it! The place has a nice buzz about it too. We will definitely be going back and highly reccomend a visit.

We were visiting Leciester staying at the local premier inn, there were 8 of us for dinner, staff very friendly & looked a lovely place. We ordered roast dinners, the vegetables changed 3 times, informed by the waitress, which was fine, obviously been a busy day When food finally arrived, meals were warm only, stuffing was rock hard & should not have been put on the plate, roast potatoes were overdone too, rump of beef was very fatty & not a lot of meat Staff were very nice & after we were honest regarding our meal, they took off 3 meals which was not expected but was really appreciated as none of us enjoyed our meal.

We chose the Yews for my wife’s birthday as she has enjoyed dining here in the past. Our table was booked for 8 people and on arrival we were shown to a lovely snug, out of the way from the other diners which was a good thing with two young children. We were served by Lottie who was attentive, patient and very friendly. A credit to the pub. She was brilliant! The food was hot and delicious with clean plates all round. Some of our guests had not visited before, but after a quality visit, they cannot wait to return. Keep up the great work!

What an amazing meal. Sunday lunch was delicious. We were served by Lottie who couldn’t have done more for us, she suggested and explained the food menu thoroughly & asked if we had an allergies. She was so lovely she deserves a mention.

Great welcome, great service, food good, couldn’t fault it. We arrived early, asked if we could have a drink before going to our table and not a problem. As a regular customer at the yews for a number of years the place always has a very warm and friendly feel. The staff always make you feel welcome and are at hand to look after you. The trio of roasts are a treat!!!!!

Great burger & sticky toffee pudding.

Have eaten here many times before and always been good. Last time was not so good but thought it was a one off. Tonight the food was not good at all. The mushroom pie was mostly pastry with a sort of sludge in the bottom. The vegetables were a mix of over, under cooked and burnt, the stuffing (I think) was totally inedible and the gravey lumpy. It looked like it had sat on the pass half the day. The fish and chips my son had were moderately better. The staff are always very welcoming and polite. In addition the only place we were told we could sit was in the back bar, unfortunately this came with the smell from the toilets. We were hungry and desperate (no where else had availability). We won’t be returning in a rush.

Food good but appalling service and the pub wasn’t all that busy.! This was the case on the previous visit but wanted to try again as food was nice but sadly service just as bad .

We arrived for lunch today at around 1.30. Inside was very busy but there were still tables available (you could still book a table online for this time, and all afternoon - 15 min slots, but because we were 5 mins away when we decided to visit we didn't bother) We waited a short while inside before we were approached by a very stressed member of staff. We were told we might have a wait of between 30 mins and 2 hours to be served. He explained that they were so short staffed in the kitchen and that there was not enough waiting staff. What a shame. We've visited here so many times over the last 2 years (their steak sandwich is to die for) Please get more staff - if you can't provide a good service, don't take the bookings!

We went to the Yews for a wake following a funeral at the Crematorium. The manager Ashley was super helpful in ensuring everything went smoothly and put on a fabulous selection of food. Good parking, and nice setting for a send off . Highly recommended

Very nice pub, relaxing and good atmosphere.

A birthday visit for myself. Absolutely love the setting and decor of this pub. The unfortunate repetitive nature of insufficient staffing levels repeated itself once again. Ordered Drinks and Food around 7.20pm . I was duly advised a 30 min wait for food. Which ai was happy to accept because of how busy it was. 20 mins later I had to walk to the bar and request where are my drinks to the same person who took the order who was clearly overrun had forgotten my order not realised that it hadn't been fulfilled. 8.10pm the food arrived. Now Late is not great but the food was great. Only comment would be why advised with a sauce and not place on the actual Burger. Only provide a small pot where you then have to decide to place on my burger or keep for my fries. As when we asked do you require anything and asking for More BBQ sauce it was advised that they were at the point of running out and couldn't spare anymore going like hotcakes . This was the Manager. After finishing I had decided to have a dessert, but with the wait provided previously. Asking to place an order forgotten about once again when returned to me we decided to opt out and just get the bill. Probably going to be another year or more until visit again as we recalled why it is not destination choice for us locally eating out. Wine prices are extortionate. I hope you obtain more hours / staff in due course and the ones who were in need to be looked after better. They need help.

Perfect visit for Christmas Day. Every single member of staff were lovely, attentive and friendly. All staff seemed happy and the atmosphere was so nice. The added touch of a Christmas card to each reservation was so lovely (and annoyingly we forgot ours) I was concerned about how the vegan option would be but it was perfect. The visit was worth every penny.

From start to finish the day was perfect Food was amazing every course and well presented too the staff are lovely and the service was excellent we were seated in our own little private booth which was perfect really enjoyed the whole experience and would not hesitate with going there next Christmas.

We have had one of the best Christmas Dinners we've ever had at The Yews yesterday. Delicious food and a friendly professional team made it a very special Christmas. Thank you! 😊

Christmas catch up with friends. Food was excellent and despite the bar being extremely busy service was also good. Staff were attentive and friendly.

This was supposed to be a treat for my family and it wasn't really. Service was ok but as we were there for the Festive menu, we were the only table that didn't have crackers. I chose the traditional Christmas dinner and it really wasn't very nice. The rosemary potatoes didn't taste of anything and were clearly frozen. There was no red cabbage and this was replaced with a watery underdone piece of brocolli. The carrots were hard and didn't taste of anything. There were a few Brussells which were cooked quite well. The stuffing was just a slab and didn't seem to have any bacon wrapped around it. The whole meal was quite cold and very disappointing. I ordered the 'Melting Festive Bell' for pudding and it was stodgy and certainly in no way did it resemble a 'fondant!' The ice cream was ok. I suppose you will say, you should have told us, well my family don't like to make a fuss so rather than make things worse I said nothing. However, I will be very disappointed if my Christmas dinner on Wednesday is of that quality.

Came here a few years ago and food was lovely so thought we would try it for my wife’s birthday. Unfortunately the standard had dropped. After waiting almost an hour and half for our meals 4 out of the 8 meals had to be returned due to being cold. Definitely understaffed as also did not get asked if we wanted anymore drinks after the 1st round we had as soon as we got there. I don’t like leaving bad reviews and they did take the 4 meals off the bill but certainly won’t be going back.

Had a meal here with friends. It was very busy with large groups and the food took a while to come but it was very good on arrival. Will and Ash were spot on with the customer service and kept the drinks coming , a good time had by all thanks

Very clean and great service, food was plentiful and tasted divine. 5 stars from us.

Overpriced understaffed and the chef needs to learn how to cook steak. I ordered a medium fillet steak with salad. After an inordinate wait it arrived, I could have soled my shoes with the steak and the salad had no dressing. It went straight back and I won't be returning. 6 years on and against my better judgement came here for a family lunch organised by a family member - deep regret. After over an hours wait they produced a cold crispy chicken burger that I was unable to either bite into or cut with a knife. Together we spent £170 on 6 meals and drinks, we'd have been better off with a McChicken burger at a fraction of the cost.

First time we have visited the Yews and definitely will not be the last. A lovely atmosphere coupled with great service and tasty food we had a really good time.

We don't live locally, but visit the Yews almost every week and have always loved the staff, setting and food, it's been great everytime - always a cheery welcome from happy staff. However, the last couple of times we've visited it's just not been the same and the Yews has slipped from 5* to 3* in my opinion. There don't seem to be enough staff and the ones working don't look very happy. We had booked a table yesterday, when we arrived there were no staff in sight and we stood waiting 3 or 4 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Ash returned, picked up the menus and just walked off to the table, no 'please follow me', the wine I favour wasn't available so my hubby asked what would be a good alternative, Ash relied 'well it's personal choice', fortunately for me, I know what I like and ordered that, but a recommendation would have been nice. Food took a little longer than usual, but not an issue, it was as good as usual - we had the beef cheeks, a festive burger and childrens pizza. It makes me sad to give negative feedback, especially as we've had a great experience for years, we'll visit one more but if the service hasn't returned to the previous high standards it will be the last time.

Wish we didn’t bother! Me and my partner had a quiet night without the kids so decided to go for a meal here. Huge disappointment awful table service so much so that the landlady or manager had to take over our table as we just kept getting forgotten about the lady was lovely by the way, just to top of a slow night my partner has food poisoning now! Hes been so poorly and still had to go to work as he is needed to much at his job to be able to have the day off The food was shocking my mixed grill all tasted like dirty grill and my partners burger tasted like blood and was undercooked we’d only had a few bites of it really and then left and went shop to get something else to eat so at £94 for a few drinks and meal for two for my partner to have food poisoning we are pretty fuming to say the least! Will be avoiding this place now as we did nip there now and then when we had the chance gutted this place has gone downhill so much as it used to be great

Popped in to the Yews after hearing about this place for ages, I finally managed to get here and try it out. What a beautiful looking restaurant. It is so warm and welcoming. Was warmly welcomed by Lotte and Kate. Both are always smiling and Kate is a find and asset to the place. If it wasn’t for her I probably wouldn’t have tried the specials. What can I say about the food. Amazing. 10 out of 10. I ordered of the special menu. To start was a wild boar scotch egg and it was cooked to perfection. The yoke still runny. Then I couldn’t resist the Game mixed grill. The duck just fell of the bone and melts in your mouth and venison steak was amazing. Compliments to the Head Chef Kyle and the kitchen team Overall I can not fault the place. Will definitely be back
