The Yews in Harborough

Second visit in 3 years, unfortunately experienced the same issues with service. Food was excellent, really tasty good food and initial service was good too. However when it started getting quiet we were forgotten about and had to go and find someone to ask for the bill. And then we had to go and find someone again to actually pay. We were ready to leave a tip but the poor service at the end stopped us. So unfortunately we won't be back anytime soon

We eat out a lot and, for us, The Yews stands out above other palces we visit. The staff are great, the food is always good and the welcome is lovely. The last few times we've been, Sam has been our server....what a credit to The Yews! He's so friendly, polite and helpful, definitely deserves 5*

Came on a busy Wednesday evening all the staff were Lovley but Sam was exceptional a credit to the company really caring and no ask was too big. Good was brilliant. Atmosphere was really Lovley lots of older couple eating and drinking.

Came on Sunday for a roast with the in-laws pub was very full all the staff seemed very friendly. Our server Sam was phenomenal really attentive and made sure our meals were up to standard. All the food was really hot, very tasty and came out in good time. Would highly recommend.

Lovely lunchtime meal with my wife. Food was great as always and the service was really good. Julie attended to all of her customers really well despite the problems the technology created for all of the staff.

Went for evening meal with family and tried their vegan mushroom Ale pie.

Attended with family on a busy Saturday night. I had a vegetable platter for the first time ever after trying to ease off of meat. I absolutely loved it! The meals served to all of us looked delicious. The only criticism was the 1 hour wait between mains and pudding. However this wouldn’t put me off returning.

Lovely experience, the food was amazin as always. Our waiter Will did really well. We will definitely recomend it and be back.

As usual a friendly welcome from Kate and her team. Food is amazing! You must try the new menu. Lottie gave us perfect service today and Oscar the dog got a big fuss made of him. This is his favourite pub too. They are so dog friendly and that is a big thing for us who have fur-babies. We shall definitely be going back soon. thank you guys 10/10 as always!

The pub was fairly quite on a Monday which was a suprise but the overall atmosphere was really nice. The food was top notch all really hot and fresh the fish and chips is a really large portion which is great. Staff were really attentive especially Sam who looked after us the supper club was really well priced. We tried to use a birthday wine voucher but it wouldn't work. The manager i think was really helpful and managed to get it to work. All staff really nice especially Sam. Cannot reccomend enough.

I'm becoming a regular here, terrific staff, excellent food, and , great value for money.

Really disappointing. Service was absolutely appalling. Firstly we weren't given the 2 courses for £15 menu. Had to ask, we ordered and the starters were a 30min wait. Sat with empty plates for at least 20 mins before someone came over to remove them. Was over an hour for the mains - had to try and get someone over and ask. They were not good at acknowledging anyone. Again, waiting ages for plates to be removed and order desserts. Asked for bill and no word at all, but finally got bill. No-one came to take money so eventually went to bar. Had overcharged us so had to put that right. Not the best night!!!

Late Sunday afternoon , pub only half full. Food was really poor , and some of it only warm . Tasteless. Yorkshire puddings were somewhat awful !! ,as was the rest of it 😔 Service wait after ordering was terrible . After paying £100 , we had expected better !!...needless to say we won't be returning !

Excellent food, great choice for vegetarians and lovely service

Lovely setting. Food was excellent. I had the rib-eye steak and can honestly say, it was the nicest steak I've had in a very long time! Staff were friendly, place was clean and well maintained. Not long to wait for the food either. Can highly recommend!

Really slow service, took over 20 minutes to get given menus and 40 for food to come out. Granted it was initially busy when we got there, but our server spent most of the time joking and laughing with the bar staff. Waited another 20 minutes after being given pudding menus and no one came to take our order so we paid and left as it had gotten so late. Most of our party were happy with their food, I had the roast pork loin and the pork was over cooked, the roast potatoes hard and not crispy, and the whole dish was under seasoned and bland.

Yews is a wonderful place for any occasion. Food was lovely and our waiter Lottie was cheerful as always. We enjoy coming here!

Went for burns night dinner last night and really enjoyed the whole evening! The food was served so well and I tried haggis for the first time which I want to go again for tonight! The venison was so good we thoroughly enjoyed it all. Lottie, Kath and Will looked after us brilliantly 👏🏻

Out for a family dinner tonight. Service was excellent, food was spot on and really enjoyed my wine. Have not been for a while as felt the quality had dropped for both but can honestly say it’s back to its best. Well done!

Table for 2 at 12pm on the 13th January... Quickly seated and served in a beautiful old beamed pub. The Korean starter was excellent and my main Korean dish with rice was also extremely good. I tried my wife's steak pie which I admit I would have preferred as it was delicious. Service was excellent and both ladies were very chatty and attentive. Highly recommend this place a very short distance from the A6.

The service was quick, efficient, polite, and friendly, and the prices very reasonable. But several items on the menu (including the one I had looked forward to) were unavailable due to the non-arrival of a delivery… And both my chicken and my companion’s meat pie were significantly overcooked. Not a great experience on this occasion.

Great place to eat. Looked after by management and the rest of the lovely team. Highly recommend the camembert. A good range of veggie options which my partner could pick from. The deserts where amazing. Definitely will be back and they serve aspauls too !

Lovely visit, lovely village pub. Busy night but katey was very accommodating and even managed to find us a dog friendly table, fussed the dog and got him a treat! Thanks to katey and the rest of the team, they couldn’t do enough and we had a lovely evening. We’ll be back very soon.

Had a fantastic meal as we do everytime we go to this lovely pub. The staff are always so very friendly and welcoming to me and my partner. A shout out to Katey aswell she's a superstar and always makes our visit so much better.. can't wait to visit again..

Popped in for an impromptu lunch with my lady and our 6 year old. Helpful and pleasant staff…We had crispy salt and pepper squid for starters and the chicken and ham hock pie with chips and gravy… all in all very good! Nice pub..👍🏼

Atmosphere amazing friendly staff amazing food

We were looked after very well by all the staff. It is was a lovely experience and it’s clear why, the food was cooked perfectly and delicious, service was well paced and the range of drinks is excellent. A special thank you to the brilliant team who served us. All in all a very pleasant experience, we were made to feel really welcome and the staff are so friendly, will definitely be back again. Highly recommended

Just to add some clarification to my last review (the most recent one for Adam Smith) I am telling you that the lady that served had zero customer service skills. I can see from many past reviews that as a company, you really do not care about the customers experience. Upon entering, we were told by a member of staff that was sat down that we would be seen to shortly. We took a walk around the pub and then came back where we were asked by a lady who was a manager if we were dining. We said yes to dining and was told that she would choose where we sit and not us and that we had 2 hours maximum. Upon looking at the tables, all were empty and from what I could see, there were no reserved signs bar two out of the 15 empty tables. My partner said we'd like to take the table, and I said that we'd go to the bar first for a drink there, and then go to the table. I was essentially told that if someone were to come in for a table whilst we were stood by the bar having a drink that our table would be given to them. I have never heard nor been asked to entertain such nonsense. I was already there and the table was free, so why would you give up a table you've just reserved for us whilst we're there? All I can say is, there was some strange and fruitless rules and regulations in play which spolit the evening before we even managed to sit down, seemingly coming from one member of staff that we unfortunately interacted with. This wasn't mirrored in our experience at Greene King's Fox and pond, where we had a nice meal and were greeted by a kind member of staff named Lewis who exemplifies quality customer service. It's servers like Lewis at the Fox and Pond that make your brand, not servers at Yews who defame its good name.

Absolutely disgusting service by the lady manager. She looked drunk and had a bad attitude. 6 people in the bar and she made it an issue about my partner and I having a drink at the bar before we ordered food. Abhorrent and despicable. She ruined our Xmas and she should go to rehab.

Popped into the Yews spare of the moment mid week, we were treated with a warm welcome and quick service. The place looked beautiful with the Christmas decorations up, even our 3 year old commented on them.

Had a table for 10 for Xmas dinner booking, we had to pre order. Didn't get mains until 90 mins after sitting down. Initially came out with the wrong starters, mains took forever to arrive. Turkey is not a fresh bird but pre packed in a roll. We waited so long with young children we sadly cancelled desserts. Terrible service. We pre ordered, you knew what was happening. No organisation. Their apology was to knock £40 off the bill when we didn't have time for dessert. For a table of ten with drinks, you do the math. Hardly a discount £40 doesn't even cover dessert for 10 heads.

The food was not that great, seabas on risotto. Seabas not fresh, not sure if it was frozen, risotto over cooked and small portion. Weatherspoons I would recommend and half the price.

Food and bar staff are very good the price is about Wright for food service is good allways happy to help good size car park to use

Lunch today was disappointing. Had the fish option on the festive menu. Sprouts like bullets, broccoli not cooked and baked potatoes rather greasy. So could do better.

Probably the worst food I have experience since TGI fridays. Tough steak rock hard pastry on pie with hardly any filling and what filling there was was fat and gristle. Waste of money

Friendly staff, very accommodating. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. Sirloin steak was tough, fatty with gristle, replaced with a steak & ale pie which my daughter had ordered. We both agreed the pastry was hard and tasteless, the steak was poo quality and the mash had no flavour. Overall not recommended for food we bought fish and chips on our way hom.

I only pulled into the carpark to use the EV charger. There are 2 available, and they are compatible with my Electroverse card (Octopus Energy). The chargers did what they needed to do, and were cheaper than some others in the area.

Great place to eat drink and neet friends, staff friendly makes a lovely atmosphere.

Turned up 11 minutes late to our 1 pm booking for 3 today. 5 minute wait at door with nobody greeting us. Was told that they've given our table away and no way of accommodating us till the evening. What happened to the 15 minute grace period? No attempt in sorting things out.

Great breakfast at a weekend and friendly staff. 5 stars.

It gets very busy so best to book. We booked a table for 12:30pm & enjoyed a great Sunday lunch just before it got really busy. We both went for sirloin beef. To be honest it wasn't the tastiest beef we've had but the lovely gravy, tasty vegetables & great Yorkshire pudding made up for it. We had a great side dish of cauliflower cheese each too. We will definitely go again & next time have the rib of beef. Sam looked after us & provided excellent service.

The restaurant area is in need of some tlc, paintwork needs some attention. Such a shame as this is the only thing that lets it down. Food was lovely and the service very good.

As a regular customer at the yews for a number of years the place always has a very warm and friendly feel. The staff always make you feel welcome and are at hand to look after you. The trio of roasts are a treat!!!!!

We hadn't booked so we couldn't get lunch. We only got a 'No'? No suggestions, nothing. I felt talked down to. We had a drink then left. Lucky. Another couple had steak and they mentioned it was small and not nice (they didn't eat it), the server did not seem to care, except say she was involved in the steak and it was the right weight?

Not been for a while , will be back. Good food and very friendly service .

Spot on brekkie. A multi group order covering everything from full english, porridge, pancakes and Eggs Benedict. All came at the same time, all hot and all delicious. Good coffee, no pressure or rush. Reasonable pricing. Lovely friendly and helpful staff for the awkward ones who dont want mushrooms (me). Cannot fault it🥰

Absolutely aweful .Very cool greeting,table in the main bar area, told "its Sunday."Ordered meal and drinks, starter arrived in a reasonable time, only thing was the soup was cold and remained un consumed, the manageress was later informed of this and agreed to a deduction from the bill, [did not happen}The mains then took over an hour to arrive The food was tasteless. We are both in our eighties and do not dine out a lot so we found this rather disappointing

Greeted at the door with a smile and a hello which is a nice touch. Food was amazing really big portion. The roast was devine. The waitor sam was absolutley amazing really attentive with all our questions. I definitely recommend for the Sunday roasts.

This is my favourite pub/restaurant in the Leicester area! The food is always amazing and was a reasonable price. For starters, we ordered the garlic sharing loaf, which was a weekly special. For main course, we ordered the “Korean Chicken Duo”, “British Chicken and Ham Hock Pie” and the “Smothered Chicken”. Also came here for Sunday roast once and it was the best I’ve ever had! Our server, Lottie, was great. Will definitely come again!

This was a revisit, and it was a bit disappointing 😞 we myself and my wife and two friends were made welcome. If there's anything I hate, it is when you go into a place and people look at you like they have never seen a mixed race couple before. Let's leave that there, now about the meal. I had the seafood mixed grill, and I was expecting more seafood than just two prawns, a bit of salmon and a small bit of fish. The potatoes were over roasted and tough.

Yews has always been a family favourite. Atmosphere is always very tranquil and intimate, and usually the service is very good too. Unfortunately it just starts to feel like the standards are starting to slip. Two steaks, medium and medium rare, both served well done, after a waiting time of 40mins plus, was unacceptable. It all seemed very slow. Frustrating because I know the Yews are better than this, especially when they failed to hit the usual high standards on my birthday, even worse when I hand-picked them for the celebration meal.

Went here today for a wake and all ok intill food was being brought out and the bar staff (brunette lady with tattoos), was stood behind people huffin and puffin and throwing the food down. She was so rude and several family members commented on it. Of all the times to show kindness, you would think it would be at a wake!!!!! Also there has been a comment that when some of the party walked in with the flowers and they asked another staff member, where could they put them, it was an issue and seemed a problem?! Seriously, it says a lot about an individual if they can’t show some empathy and decency after people are mourning the death of a loved one. Perhaps if you didn’t cram everyone in the corner or simply, ask people to move politely, it wouldn’t have been an issue. Fortunately some of the older members of the gathering wouldn’t have noticed and thankfully, the widow was oblivious. Wouldn't recommend this place irrespective of the close distance to the crematorium, it’s tainted. UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO GENERAL MANAGER. Fair comment on the space if that was agreed by the booker. Don’t agree with anything else you said. Like I said, several people commented, several not just me. She did not once ask for anyone to move politely. What a well. How ironic that if the food is hot, perhaps tell people in advance before food comes, if they could make some space? Don’t try and justify the rude attitude.

First visit to The Yews and would happily return! Ruth was a great host and even went out of her way to find our pup some treats while we ate. Food was lovely, opted for one of the specials and it was delicious. Would recommend!
