Stayed on Mid week break with my husband and in all honesty the main building is spectacular..Clean, stunning and easy access from the A1 (if you don’t have to cross the motorway) Was greeted at reception by a young girl, not sure of her name...

My wife and I checked into this lovely looking hotel but our immediate reaction was spoiled by the receptionist not being very welcoming and we thought just going through the motions. We were directed to a Mansion Classic Room, a short walk from reception, and situated on the first floor, accessed by a rather steep stair. Upon entry and a quick look around, we thought the room to be 'rather tired' (to be polite) and later looked in more detail. The toilet roll holder was broken, a hinge of the dessing table mirror was broken, the skirting in the bathroom had come adrift, mould on the window frame and several dead ladyirds nside on the windowsill to list just a few things. I would question the rating of 4* in this part of the hotel! On the upside, the main building is lovely and very grand. The dining room was particularly impressive. The breakfast faire was pretty standard or this type of hotel and the staff were pleasant and helpful. One major dissapointment was the leisure complex. The swimming pool showed signs of the paint peeling off (it being a paited pool rather than tiled). The Jacuzzi Spa was devoid of water and out of action. The changing rooms, both male & female, contained a sauna and steam room, but in both cases the steam rooms were out of service. As we enjoy and expected to enjoy time in the sauna together, we boycotted the entire facility.

Then asked for another and waited nearly an hour. So asked again and was told I'll have to do it in a minute I'm busy! Went down for meal at 6.55pm to be told your not booked in until 7 uve got 5 minutes yet so go to the bar and get a drink. Sat down for food.. starter came fairly quick.. asked for wine menu... mains came.. Then wine menus and no one came to take the order... finished the main and then was asked oh yeh did u want to order wine? So told then no not now we have finished our main.. his reply was oh ok. No apology or anything! Very poor service all around. Tried to also charge us for desserts even tho was included in the deal. Very disappointed. Hotel looks good from the outside but inside is poor. Emailed them to try and get a room upgrade as we wasn't happy but no reply. Also Facebook message sent and still no reply 3 weeks later. Poor poor poor.. Do not stay here!!

I have never been so bitterly disappointed! We ended up leaving midway after having spoken to Aaron the duty manager. The issues below:We were seated 40 mins late for a reservation that was made weeks ago. The table was dirty with food residue which the waiter did not wipe clean. He placed plates on top of the dirty table. Both the plates placed had dirty marks and were not washed properly. We had the plates changed and the waiter bought some spoons. Again, dirty spoons which we asked to be changed. The new spoons too were dirty and not washed properly which I then had to try and clean with the sleeve of my jumper! Not very lady like but it was easier than calling the waiter again. There were no serviettes offered which again we had to ask for. The afternoon tea was booked weeks ago and I had specifically asked for 2 vegetarian options. I confirmed the vegetarian option 2 days prior to arrival, yet when the food arrived, we had fish sandwiches and gelatine in the trifle. Both of which are not suitable for vegetarians. The only option of vegetarian sandwiches were cheese and pickle and hummus spread. Such a poor variety for an establishment that boasts they cater for vegetarians! We were left with this poor collection and no replacement for the gelatine ridden trifle! They had weeks to prepare a vegetarian menu yet they got it wrong! Totally unacceptable in my opinion. Coffee was served but again with dirty spoons and no sugar. We had to once again call the waiter for clean spoons and sugar. The sugar cube bowl arrived eventually but with no tongs. For a grand afternoon tea we had to use fingers which then makes me wonder, how many fingers had been dipped into the sugar cubes. Not very hygienic at all! Tea was served with no milk. We had to again call the waiter to bring the milk which left us waiting to the point that the tea became cold. Scones were brought out with a ration portion of jam but again no knife. At this point we gave up and left. Did they expect us to cut the scones and scoop the jam with our fingers? Each and every available table was ridden with dirty dishes piled high from previous diners. No attempt was made to clean our table or any other. So we were left dining in a grand venue but with a poor array of food, dirty cutlery and poor service nestled amongst dirty dishes. The whole afternoon tea was a mess from start to finish. Completely sub standard, disorganised, no cutlery (or dirty cutlery). Cold tea and a rubbish selection for a vegetarian which had been booked weeks ago. I have been for afternoon tea at Risley Hall. Lovely experience which resulted in myself and my partner booking a night in the hall with again a lovely dinner and breakfast. I suggest you go there but certainly not at Stoke Rochford. You will be left disappointed. The only plus is the venue and the grounds. They are beautiful. Just don’t bother to have any food!

Beautiful hall on the outside but once your in it’s so run down. Walked into the dining hall to hear pop music blasting out. What?? Not the right setting or atmosphere for that. It was laughable. The walls need a good paint, the wine glasses all water marked, table not the cleanest. Is there no general or restaurant manager that checks these things. The food was just ok, nothing special. Veg hard, I don’t mind my veg a bit on the hard side but that was a bit too much when the sound of your knife smashing down on the plate thinking you’ve broke the plate cutting up the veg Chicken on the dry side.Waste of £50plus for what was a special meal for Mother’s Day. Such a shame as it could be much better.

Went for afternoon tea on Friday. Booked in for 2pm, waited for 50 minutes before being seated. Our table looked out onto an internal wall and apparently we could not be moved as other tables were not made up, there were six empty tables around us with good views onto gardens ready made up. Teapot was dirty, tea strainer had no base as they had ran out. Food terrible. Minute sandwich’s not even bite size, triffle not set we poured it onto our spoons, tasty cake x 2 one mouthful, scone nice. Tea ok but had ran out of Earl Grey the day before. Overpriced food, we left hungry. Toilet had no soap. Waste of of money (this was a present) and time, certainly not recommending.

The worst Afternoon Tea I have ever had. It was so bad it was funny. Don't think that whoever made the pots of tea has made one before or else has previously been a builder! The pots were full up with tea leaves and the coffee wasn't any better. The crockery could have come from a service station and no attempt to make it special had been made beyond putting the sandwiches and cakes on slates. The fare looked nothing like the picture on the website as you can see from my pictures. I don't know if they had run out of the ham that another reviewer had but mine was certainly not as good. All in all it was dreadful and I felt sorry for the waiting staff who spent a lot of time apologising to customers for the wait (we waited nearly an hour!) or for forgetting cups/saucers/spoons etc. I'm not surprised that no-one, when my son was paying or when we were leaving, asked us if we enjoyed the tea. I think they probably had a lot of negative feedback and just didn't want to put themselves through it! Certainly there were a lot of complaints heard around us. We just didn't want to spoil our day by complaining and ruining the day even further for staff who are working for an establishment that clearly cannot cope and that doesn't even care. I have been to another event here previously at Christmas and that was just as bad - I wouldn't have come back through choice but it was booked as a surprise for Mother's Day and despite everything, I was spending time with family and that made me happy.

We arrived for Afternoon Tea for Mothers Day using a Groupon Voucher. I had booked via Groupon but Stoke Rochford had not received the booking. However we were catered for and very nice it was too. The waiting staff were very attentive, the sandwiches were excellent, they catered for my mother's allergies. The ham was proper ham not the supermarket type. The cakes and mousse was lovely. Well the scones were to die for. We couldn't eat them all so they offered to wrap the remainder up for us. I cannot recommend them enough. Excellent experience and it made my mum's year.

Went as a Mother’s Day treat with a Christmas present voucher. The drive up to the hall was delightful - beautiful grounds and house, but it all went downhill once we arrived.I should have realised what a fiasco it was going to be with the trouble I had had just trying to get through to book a table. They don’t answer the phone - I know why now!We were kept waiting 50 minutes before being shown to our table, the tea and coffee were bought to us with no saucers or teaspoons. When we eventually got the tray of food - that was appalling. I could only eat one of the sandwiches, the ham was cheap plasticky rubbish, there was just red peppers in another type and a few others on bread which was not feeling very fresh. There were trifle like desserts but again we had to ask for cutlery to eat them with! The cakes were hard and we hardly ate any of them. When 90 minutes later we got our scones, we were told that there was no cream for them as they couldn’t find the chef! What an excuse! We wrapped them up and took them home. I would not recommend this place, everything about the service there and the food was sub standard and I would never go again☹️

Today went for Sunday Dinner as been advertised in the local newspaper so thought we would try it out.First and last time, such a let down. The long road leading up to the hall is full of potholes so watch out. Bar person made customers wait while she packed bottles in the fridge.Seated on our table next to a wall that could do with a good lick of paint as looked disgusting. Unfortunately they seem to think that using rectangle grey slate placemats on round glass table is a nice idea, but really they have got this wrong, elegance is what you are looking for, not noisy scraty mats. Our dinner arrived quite quick but was not hot. Beef was a little chewy, most vegetables arrived were not in season, again not hot. Desert was a plain chocolate fudge cake that should have been warmed to go with the ice cream. Ok the cost for the dinner is below average but attention to detail is not their priority. The staff are all young and lacking expert guidance. Wouldn't advise eating here if you want to feel full.

I used a voucher that I got for my 30th birthday to book a two night bed and breakfast stay at Stoke Rochford Hall for my partner and I. It's somewhere we usually never stay but it's grandness and the fact it advertised 'leisure facilities' attracted me. The drive up to the house itself was like a rollercoaster ride trying to avoid/falling down the crater like potholes but the house was stunning on approach. The interior of the hall was also very impressive with a grand open fire in its reception area. We weren't able to check in immediately as we were a whole 4minutes too early?! So took advantage of the surroundings. We found it very difficult to work out what was available in the hotel as there were no drinks menus/food menus readily available which we realised must be because the pricing was extautionate as we discovered after our first round of drinks. We booked to have an afternoon tea which was also a complete rip off at almost £20 per head. We had three quarter sandwiches each, some very questionable sweets; which we had to force ourselves to eat just to get our money's worth. This was followed by a measly sized scone with jam and cream which we also had to ask for more of as there was barely enough to cover one scone never mind to share between two!! Another disappointing feature was the 'leisure facilities' The jacuzzi and steam room were out of order, the saunas were gender separated with a view of the toilets and the swimming pool was located in a very dingy dated greenhouse type structure. So much for feeling pampered, I actually couldn't wait to get out of there!! Thankfully it was beautiful weather and we were able to relax and stroll through the well kept gardens during our stay as there wasn't much else around/affordable. This and their breakfast which was delicious and plentiful were perhaps the hotels only redeeming features.

A friend bought us a voucher for afternoon tea and we chose Stoke Rochford Hall and it was great ! The hall is stunning, all the staff we encountered were friendly and efficient and the tea was plentiful and delicious. We would highly recommend. If you do visit, make sure you leave time for a trip around the historic hall and gardens. Look out for the beautifully carved balustrade of the main staircase, the glass fireplace in the Newton room and the face of Isaac Newton in the ceiling of the magnificent library where the plans were made for parachute drop into Arnhem in 1944.

Road leading up to the Hall is dodgy, massive potholes pave the way.Muddy and much weathered red carpet cover the stairs outside. The Hall and grounds are impressive and it’s very ornate inside - ceiling, coving etc.First time visited, Groupon offer for afternoon tea. Not impressed at all by the food! They didn’t seem ready for us, considering we booked 3 weeks in advance and when finally food did come we got 2 stale quarter sandwiches each on cheap white bread and 1 soggy round brown slice with smoked salmon on. Sweet side of the afternoon tea was cheap and sickly and not enough of each variety to go around our table. They don’t seem to be going out of their way to impress, other comments about running the place on a shoe string aptly fit the experience we hadToo many staff doing nothing much in reception didn’t help improve matters as service was primarily left to one staff member. Not likely to go back, especially not paying full price!!!

It’s a beautiful building, with lovely views from the gigantic windows. The food was very good indeed – with a tasty veggie option. The scones were superb and the tea was excellent and endless (with a great range of flavours to choose from). The selection of cakes was tremendous – with a lovely mini-trifle. Even though it all looked dainty, we couldn’t finish everything, so our very cheerful waitress wrapped them up in very stylish ‘doggy bags’. The service from the two ladies throughout the meal was smiley and helpful. After tea, we took a stroll around the Hall, which is very impressive, and the grounds, which are elegant and beautiful.A lovely way to spend an afternoon.

We were given a gift of afternoon tea for two at Stoke Rochford Hall - easy to find just off the A1, an impressive period property (found along a poorly maintained private road), beautiful views and surroundings, the entrance reception is baronial in style, the actual afternoon tea that was eventually served to us by a very efficient staff member (Lottie) was surprisingly very good. The venue would make an ideal period film location. On the negative side, we had to ask three times if the staff knew we were waiting for our booking (we were eventually shown to our table 20 minutes late), the only apology came when we sat down (which was too late) - communication is the key, we had already sat outside the dining room door for over 20 minutes - we had seemingly been invisible to everyone. If they were exceptionally busy and unable to seat us at our booked time, a simple and polite communication would have been appreciated and certainly is the industry standard. The entrance hall could be amazing (it's not), there were few lights on, it was so cold that guests were sitting in coats. I sat with my coat on my knees to keep me warm in the dining room which was again poorly lit - two magnificent chandeliers, sadly only four bulbs working in each chandelier, which again is a shame as there were beautiful mirrors and fireplaces in the room..This hotel should be so much better!

We stayed in this hotel for a wedding. The room cost £120 and without a date is the worst hotel room I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t in the main building, it was an old purpose built block (pictured). The walls were paper thin and the room itself had mould round the windows, stains on the carpet, old broken furniture and tatty old curtains. Bulb had gone in main light. The bathroom was horrible! I’m a teacher and have been on a lot of school trips and honestly never stayed in accommodation like this. Didn’t want to complain as we were there for a wedding but we left first thing in the morning. I’m sure the rooms in the main hotel are lovely but there should definitely been different rates for staying in the outhouses

Beautiful stately home in extensive grounds staffed by demoralised and poorly trained personnel (and not enough of them), Obviously run on a shoe-string from the worn and damaged areas that are obviously deemed OK (broken knock together MFI wardrobe in the room, damaged bath from where the shower screen was changed and stains on the - admittedly very nice - tiling). Add in four squares left on a loo roll with no spare, no information on anything in the room, no coffee sachets and four paltry thimbles of milk ...... you get the idea!Go for a coffee in the bar and wait nearly ten minutes for someone to come in and actually serve there, then pay £7 for two cheap cafe coffees in glass cups with no saucers or spoons, no sugar offered .... you get the idea! You have to ask for EVERYTHING!The Leisure Centre/Spa is a complete disaster, from the junl piled up outside it as you approach, to the totally worn out 60's interior. Broken cupboards and blistered woodwork in the changing room, a telephone kiosk sized ancient sauna in each changing room (!) and a (Yep!) worn out and out of order so called steam cubicle in each changing room. Get changed and off to the Jacuzzi and guess what ..... yep it's worn out and out of order! Pull apart the greenhouse aluminium doors to the pool and we just had to laugh! It is a joke! We got changed back into our clothes and demanded our entrance money back! Yep £5 each to use the facilities of the worst Leisure centre I have ever seen!Overall? Such a shame. A gorgeous building in lovely grounds .... but that's it! Book somewhere else! This place is a shambles on the Best Western books!

Lovely arrival drink and beautiful setting only to be ruined by being taking down many corridors and down into the depths of the hotel and out into the marquee which was freezing! People were dressed up but had to wear shawls and coats. When I asked to see the manager she offered to give me her cardigan which was sweet but inappropriate. Our food was ok and I would have paid £15 - £20 for it. We had the starter, then the main an hour half later and then the desserts a further 45 minutes later! I was in a walk way and staff were thundering up and down the ramp where I was sat so I spent the evening shaking up and down as people walked past! I felt sorry for the staff, who were very pleasant but it was coordinated by people shouting...right that table's done...go, go to table such and such...now over here'...they sounded panicked and desperate...hardly a sophisticated evening. We didn't even like to ask for more veg so just ate the 3 carrots and 2 Brussel sprouts we were given! One person on our table asked for gravy which came out quite quickly in some kind of plastic container that the waiter insisted on pouring for us...why we couldn't have had a gravy jug??? He poured gravy for half the table then turned and asked another table for gravy....he saw my hand up and then decided to add more gravy to the rest of our table's dinner! People had varying amounts of potatoes on their plate - I was lucky to have 3! We did have someone come and ask us if everything was ok but because we were all too polite we just said yes thank you! We'd already resigned ourselves to a poor quality evening which we managed to laugh/shiver about! Clearing plates was below par...a lady coming to take cutlery and plates away stretching over me ...no good waitressing and a million miles away from fine dining! One waiter was walking so quickly he barged into my chair. No apology - it must have hurt?!The power kept going off despite reassurances before we arrived that they had a generator. Fact is they couldn't get the generator working! The entertainment crew decided to cut their losses and move us upstairs. We had no music throughout our dinner which made the evening feel flat! We had several shouty updates about the plan for the evening but we couldn't hear this...then they called us again and said free bar till 10.30! A cheer went up! People raced to the bar and got bottles of wine etc! I guess that's the least they could do.After another hour or so the power came on...the entertainment crew now began the task of setting up again downstairs....she announced she was hot when she finally got going which went down like a led balloon to the hundreds of us sat there freezing cold and feeling miserable. Finally, the 'show' looked like it would start...disco lights on and music started...people just wanted to dance and warm up...but then a change of music happened and we had circus type music and a fifteen minute warning for the show to start! The big, grand build up was hillarious...we were told we weren't allowed on the stage whilst the 'act' took place (3 singers, a flame twizzling man and a weird spark-flying grinder show...odd)...peeople went with it...dancing by their tables and getting in to the act albeit with some slight sympathy as it was a bit sub-standard. My collegaue mentioned she'd had a weekend at Butlins and they'd had brilliant singers!!The lady who answered my call earlier that week, who said to come as 'we have resolved all the issues' had too much faith in what they put on that evening. As an ex waitress and being desperate for a night out without the kids, I had much sympathy for the chaotic serving staff and just went with the evening for what it was - a big, cringy night out! Not worth the money. Stoke Rockford this was embarrassing!

They were especially good with my young boys (aged 4 & 2). Service was great and timely - which is always a bonus with young kids! The afternoon tea itself was delicious, the brownie was just how I like it and the scones were warmed! Like the chocolate pops. Overall really nice and what you expect for the price. No qualms. Really liked the fire was roaring in the main entrance hall. Felt lovely and grand. Bet it’s lovely at Christmas. The food and the hospitality were great, the steak was to die for and I would have given it 5 stars, however having been shopping at Tesco and found out the bottle of wine we had was on sale at £8.50, to have been charged £38.00! was just too much over the top. It’s a shame as it has soured the experience.
