Bad experience , 930 sat night so would have thought still busy thankfully only got chips to eat on way to car which were cold soggy sweaty and a waste of £2.70 . Would not return.

We visited tonight after doing our shop as we thought it was quick and easy and less stressful as we live about 15 miles away from Grantham we ordered our food and everything and sat down there was two young girls sat down bare in mind they had no food neither drinks, me and my 7 year old sat down and noticed these two girls laughing and wispering and pointing at my 7 year old bare this in mind the girls looked about 14 which then made my 7 year old feel quite uncomfortable to the point she came up and said she was scared !! They proceeded to sit there and turn around and giggle by this point i was getting very fustrated and uncomfortable myself it got to the point that i was so upset and mad i left without eating my food I’ve never ever been made to uncomfortable especially with a child and I mean a CHILD !! These girls was around 14 and I was absolutely mortified. She didn’t eat her food and nore did I I shall not be returning due to this incident not because the staff of the food as there both great !! Just the fact that the uncomfortable feeling and an upset 7 year old child she was scared and asked if we could leave. I’m aware that these children or child is on of the staffs but as I said they were fabulous as always and it’s non of there faults!

Order twice on just eat only to have the order cancelled because of no driver so order again for collection then cancelled again. Waste of time

First time getting delivery from relax .. it will be the last I am sorry to say everything we ordered was not of good standard

Good service on the takeaway. Had to wait a little while for chips, but I'd prefer them freshly cooked anyway. Very good portion size too.

Friendly & VERY good fish & chips. We ate inside & couldn't fault one thing. Highly recommended 😊

Just popped in here for a take out, I had fish chips and peas and my wife had beef & onion pie, chips and gravy. My fish was ok because it had to be cooked whilst we waited. The chips were cold and soggy ant the peas tasted burnt (how do you burn peas) The pie was also cold but we were told that so we re heated when we got home. Over all the food was rubbish and I won't be going here again. This used to be the best chippy in town and In my opinion, it is now the worst. Avoid at all costs.

Fish and chips. Fish batter was like damp cardboard sent it back. They redid it but Fish overcooked. Didn't eat Any of the chips. Daylight robbery.

The chips are lovely and the sausage supper was awesome " but on my last visit the fish was a little overcooked and a bit dry ? But they definitely do good chips" and the fish is usually nice. Plus it's a sit in Cafe...x I would definitely recommend the Relax Fish Bar. Grantham.

Meeting friends in Grantham on an August mid afternoon and, feeling rather hungry, I ordered Fish, chips and mushy peas to take away. The fish itself tasted fine. The batter however was a bit like wet cardboard and the chips were undercooked for my liking (were very pale with no taste). I did think about going back to complain but was in a rush so threw them in the bin. Very disappointing.

I occasionally try this place as it's in a great location but I always regret it. The staff aren't usually the sharpest tools in the box and take ages even when the place is empty. The chips and batter tend to be soggy. Just poor all round.

Lunchtime Thursday 6th April - Spring rolls had enough grease to lube a tractor. Chicken & Mushroom pie undercooked and tepid & shouldn't have been served. Parked close by ready to eat. Took back and thankfully got a full refund. Not a nice experience then followed by the same at nearby McDonalds - stone cold food, so thrown away uneaten, followed by a negative 1 star review.

Would leave 0stars if possible. I go here multiple times a week with friends, we are respectful and clean away our food after every lunchtime. The lady serving is constantly rude and verbally agressive towards us despite us buying a lot of the (hygiene inadequate) food. She has stopped us from sitting inside due to “too loud noise” each day yet hasn’t brought this up with us in a respectful way beforehand. Service is slow, food is mediocre to low standard and staff are rude and hostile. Do not come here

Every time I come in here they’re all really friendly !! Food is amazing and the curry sauce is by far and away the best in town !!

Would leave 0 stars if I could. Foods either undercooked or if its is cooked its impossible to cut through. The owner also likes to sack and withhold wages from staff on numerous occasions and I have also passed my concerns over to the EHO about the state of the premises and the food they serve

I waited over an hour after being told it would be half an hour. I called to see where it was to be told it was on its way, only to wait another 40 mins for my food to actually arrive. Cold. Won't be going there again.

Some negative reviews here but I thought the food was lovely, very big piece of very tasty white cod with not too much batter and the chips were very nice if not quite hot enough but overall very good, pleasant young lady served me too, I'll definitely call in again!

Went for my first time today during college hours food was lovely but expensive for a pack of 6 chicken nuggets. £5.10 for 6 chicken nuggets and chips.

I| have not bought fish and chips from Relax for the past 18 months due to lockdowns etc., but as I was in town yesterday evening I was really looking forward to trying their superb food again. It was always my number one choice but never again - it was pretty near abysmal! Batter on fish was thick and lumpy, a large chips worked out at around 10p a chip and all was very greasy. Most off putting, however, was the peculiar smell. Difficult to rate the service when fish, fish bites and large chips were all shoved in a half open box in a carrier bag.

Absolutely the worst service I have experienced in a take away, anywhere in the world in 45 years. Disorganised, messy and completely confused. If I could give zero stars I would.

Awful service.. pre-ordered at 7.20 for delivery at 8.25pm.. rang up to ask where food was.. the girl said itll take around 30 mins.. food came at 8.50pm…. Went to tuck in and found a hair in my chips.. immediately rang up and had to ask the idiot for more chips (general courtesy to offer when something like this happens) but she just said okay and stayed quiet…. She said she will have some delivered to me… had to ring 25 minutes after to ask where replacement chips were and she just shouted down the phone that they are on their way…. Disgusting customer service.. poor quality of food… need to be shut down if you ask me

How to ruin a Pukka pie. What a contrast between how the pie should be and what was sold, I had a Beef and Onion pie that was obviously an old one, it was dry and stiff and completely unedible, definitely cutting corners and selling what should have been thrown away, stark difference to when it was Angelo's and been getting worse. Will not bother and maybe not worth the risk again! Bad 👎

This use to be a really good shop, dont know what's happened, the fish was over cooked and the chips under cooked, it was awful.

More grease than a car garage! Absolutely atrocious quality! The fish was crusified and as dry as a slipper, chips were like sludge. Definitely going somewhere else for my fish n chips.

This place has gone down hill fast recently, don't know if it's under new management but it's awful. The last straw was tonights chicken and mushroom pie, it wouldn't cut with a knife, was burnt inside and was inedible. Chips weren't great but ok. This place unfortunately is now best avoided!

I was on my way to the football in Grantham tonight and just fancied a pie and chips. Pukka chicken and mushroom is my favourite and always are the same anywhere you get them, crusty on top with lots of filling and chicken gravy. What a disappointment, the chips were ok but the pie I think must have been in the heated cabinet since before lockdown. There was hardly any gravy inside the pie and the bottom of the pastry was rock hard. I couldn’t break into it or get my teeth through it. I can’t imagine how many times it had been reheated to get into this state. My dinner was completely spoilt. A message for the owner, bin them mate at the end of service, I can buy them from Sainsbury’s for a pound, no doubt you get them cheaper than that.

Finally!! A chip shop that actually adds salt And vinegar to its chips when you request it. The food was delicious. Will definitely be ordering again. Thank you!

Refuses to pay staff. Do not fund this guy. Treats his staff with utter contempt. Many accounts of him abusing staff and customers, including homophobic abuse. Used to visit here all the time. Will now not bother.

Went there yesterday with some mates, had great service from a lovely lady didn’t catch her name but she was lovely the chips were yummy we ordered large chips and gravy and we definitely got our money’s worth. Would definitely go again best chippy in Grantham.

The fish and chips were lovely, freshly cooked and really hot. I would go there again if I was in Grantham. You can park right outside.

Ordered on just eat said it would be 1hr 20 mins but came in 35 minutes which was good. My husband had pie and chips they where stone cold. I opened my ordered which was also cold. I rang spoke to a women who was very rude. Said there was no way it was cold and it had only just been cooked. She said to go in, in the morning and speak to the manager. Which would be Saturday. I asked was she going to replace my order and her answer was no it wasn’t cold. Absolutely disgusting. Not even an apology.

Ordered chips and cheese, chips were soggy and barely enough cheese to cover my chips. Its a real shame as this chip shop used to be amazing a few years ago

Has changed ownership since I last visited so not as good. The lady who served us was lovely and helpful

Waited for 5 minutes to be served but no one turned up to serve me so I walked out and went to another shop. I was a regular customer until now, l might use them again.

Very disappointed used to be best chippy in town. Chips were very under cooked fish was very stodgy..... and customer service well appalling...called 6 times 3 of which was answered to request a refund still waiting !!

I like to try as many chippies in the area as possible,this one I found by chance. I was ready for food and had seen this shop on the way to the large out of the way shops.I had the normal Fish and Chip meal, the chips were ok as was the fish but the batter coating I ended up throwing. It was like sponge in fact I rolled it up like a swiss roll. Batter should be crispy and enjoyable, it is an essential part of the traditional meal. Sad to say I tried it but never again.

I Had cod, Chips and mushy peas. I Was really looking forward to a nice crispy battered cod, but I was served what looked like a soggy thick batter that had been in the microwave. The steam came out from Underneath the batter when I broke into the soggy surrounding on the cod. I could not believe how soggy it was. Or who could think it’s acceptable to serve that to a paying customer. The worst I’ve ever seen or eaten. I had one bite and left it. The chips were just about edible and the mushy peas were so watery. I wasn’t table checked so didn’t have the opportunity to raise my disappointment and as it was counter service I didn’t want to complain in front of a queue of customers. NEVER AGAIN.

Disappointed soggy chips and fish Staff - girl rude and next to useless at wrapping chips. Refused to get manager’lynn’ for me when wanted to complain. Wouldn’t recommend until new staff have been found, and more experience been had on fryers. Wasted money ended up at Chinese.

Her attitude was disgusting, the food was rubbish and then when you call to complain they answer the phone and leave it next to the till! Unacceptable and disgusting. I won’t be back again.

Sorry, but the fish I had looked like a rolled giant sausage and whilst it was cooked ok, I found the batter heavy going. I have eaten in here before and had years worth of take away's without complaint; However, this meal fell well down the scale. Please get back to proper fillets of fish. I would try again, as I hope this is a blip of trying a new product. Take it from me a fish shaped into a long cylinder was not a good change!

Chips are okay, fish was the worst I have ever had. The batter was really thick and chewy, the fish was not flaky and white it was grey and mushy and so full of oil it was really unpleasant. Yuck!

We have had really good fish and chips here, we have also had really bad fish and chips here! sometimes the fish is perfect and other times it is way over-cooked. I also had fish-bites here twice and both times they were like rubber, clearly re-heated or just over-cooked, not nice! the chips are usually good enough.

Just stood for over 10 minutes waiting to be served as they were doing a large just eat order then the assistant asked the next person in the queue what they would like and totally blanked me. Walked out in disgust ,so rude ,service has gone downhill of late since they started just eat.

One of our go to places for fish and chip takeaway. The portions are a good size and the prices reasonable. The choice if you don't want fish and chips is pretty run of the mill but everything we have tried had been good

Chips were horrible, like they were just re-heated from the previous day, chewy and over salted, they burnt my mouth due to the salt. Battered sausage just as nasty and even the curry sauce was bad! Never again

We last ate here two years ago and thought the value was so good that we would stop in for lunch again. I had the daily special: small cod, chips, and a side (mushy peas for me) and my partner had cod and chips. We both had soda-- they even had Dr. Pepper, which we have had a hard time finding outside of the US where we live. All for under 10 pounds. It was a lot of good food! After being on holiday in Amsterdam, Paris, and London, it was a nice treat to find good, simple food, for good money, and served with a genuine friendly smile. Good job!

Have just received a meal from here, delivered, waited an hour for the delivery, Friday evening, busy, to be expected. Except....... We ordered chips and cheese, chips were cold and cheese was delivered in a seperate pot! Had to microwave them to heat the chips and melt the cheese, not good! Pie and fish bites, pie was ok, warm enough but not hot, the fish bites were also almost cold. Onion rings, cold and tasted stale like they had been reheated and hard in places, Curry sauce which was missing!! I rang the restaurant which was apologetic about the curry sauce and offered to have it delivered straight out, 15 minutes later it turned up, we'd almost finished our meal by then but at least it was hot! All in all, a disaster of a take out, not good food for the price it was, (over £12.00) I won't be visiting there again!

Lovely warm people, great value meal deals and good quality fish and chips (with proper mushy peas!).

This place serves the nicest chips in Grantham. Period. Slightly crispy, full size, waxy not fluffy. Perfect.Ok the décor isn't Michelin starred, but neither are you paying for it.If you want the best tasting, traditional authentic fish and chips at a sensible price, this is the place.

So good that these guys deliver. Got 2 big portions of cod large chips and peas delivered to the door for £12 .The food was so fresh and tasty definitely recommend. Thanks

I’m afraid we were not impressed. Fish portions were small and, even more disappointing, it was mostly batter. The batter was stodgy and thick, almost jelly like, we discarded most of it. The fish was chewy and tough. The chips were soft and greasy. We will drive out to our regular fish takeaway in future. Will definitely not return to this place.

Have been in this chip shop as take away and diner with 2 other family members.Each time fish meals good and very friendly service.

Unsure of the name however waitress with short bobbed black hair is more interested in flirting with my wife (yes my wife) than doing her job.Not just that, the disgusting trolley with dirty plates stunk and is certainly not to be left near where customers are eating. I will be reporting to environmental health, as the rating for it is clearly a lie. Hopefully they will do a surprise inspection. Keep your family and friends away

Good and cheap fish and chip at a good price. Definitely something that could be used it is rarely crowded and service is quick so you can get it easily

I don't eat a lot of chips but when I have had a portion from here they have been hot and the lady serving is always polite, so in that respect I have to be honest. However a few days a go I came in as stomach grumbling. I asked for a cone of chips when they were just opened. The chips were virtually scrag ends and not very hot. Obviously I cannot prove this, but in hind sight I would have said they were warmed up from the night before ! Certainly that's what they tasted like. So basically money wasted and in the bin they went !

Went to grad fish and chips last night as a guilty treat whilst my partner was at work for the evening. Worst mistake to choose this place! Till 4am I was sick with horrific D&V. The next day my girlfriend went to see the manager of the eatery. Absolutely shocking response, he was down right rude and denied any possibility of food poisoning.All we were expecting was apology and maybe a refund.He offered neither instead just laughed in my girlfriend's face stating if he was to give everyone refund who complained he wouldn't have any money.Shocking customer service skills!! We will be following this up with a official complaint to EHO

Usually good quality, portion size really does vary sometimes a little too much, food to a good standard, reasonably priced, friendly staff who recognise a familiar face. Lovely atmosphere feel welcome

This is my nearest chippy so it would be ideal for us to use on a regular basis. However we've ordered food to takeaway on 3 occasions and the chips have been Luke warm every time. After 3 visits we now go elsewhere.

Spotless premises, take away or eat in. Good old fashioned service and value, excellent quality, friendly welcome. Well worth a visit!

No frills English fish and chip shop. Good food, good portion and good price. Some seating area could do with more lighting but on the whole it is pretty good considering the low price.Will visit again.

We had Fish n Chips for lunch one Friday as an office Very Expensive! No Lunch time offers, And they have a prime position in the town, especially with all the Schools at lunchtime, But 98% of them visit the wonderful Watkins Butchers next door and I do not blame them!I will be going there from now on, and missing this Chippy!Small chip portion....is SMALL! On ordering food my partner asked owner if she could have just one fish cake and chips instead of the two.with curry sauce. She was told in not a very freindly manner she couldnt ? has it comes as a set meal ? I then ordered cod chips and peas and two teas for us ! On reciveing the order the fish was not good i cut it and it was brown and did not taste good as with the chips and fishcakes. The owner refused to change it just saying the fish had been but on the plate the wrong way ? But the shock came at the end when we got the bill ! £16 ??? We would certainly not recommend this place.
